Lilith Thorn was born in Dundas, Ontario. Received her theatre degree at Brock University and lived in Toronto for eight years where she valiantly tried to boost her starving artist status before giving it all up for an adventure in Dublin, Ireland. It was this adventure that lead her to love and back to Canada, though this time a bit further North. Life in Yellowknife has gifted Lilith with a husband, two children and a reason to stay inside and write.
Full disclosure: I am friends with this author and worked with her to get her book ready for publication, so I'm totally declaring my bias here. It's a great read, a dreamy quality to it even as it smoulders. Niamh's awakening to her own sexuality as she is drawn to Caleb - hot. Like a slow burn but then you are in an inferno hot. And the art included so you have basically illustrated erotica? I thought it was genius when Lilith discussed her vision for the book with me, and Christopher Pew, the artist, executed it brilliantly.
This was a beautiful read. While paranormal erotica is not what I would normally reach for, this was recommended to me by a friend. I could not put it down! The writing was lovely and I really felt like I was in the protagonists head, taken back in time, seeing and feeling what she was experiencing. I have already recommended it to my book club as our next title. Am looking forward to more from Lilith Thorn!
I went into reading The Becoming with no expectations and I was blown away! From the first page I was drawn in and couldn’t put it down. I loved the flow of Niamh and Calebs story and it left me wanting more. I hope that there will be more to come!
Told in the first person, I enjoyed this riveting story of an abused wife who manages to escape her cruel and sadistic husband. She falls in love with another man and things get complicated. The story is set in a time when women were considered chattel and had few to no rights. There was a twist at the end that I never saw coming. This story was well-written and as an added bonus, had some beautiful sketches entwined within the text. I will be watching this author for future stories.
Couldn't put it down. It's a book that surprises you on all ends. Its a light read, with dark subjects. Its a romance, but leaves the reader with something to think about. It also has a few illustrations in the book which really add fuel to the creativity of this book. I really enjoyed getting to know the main characters in this story and couldn't put it down once I started and was sad to close it once I was finished.
