Update December 2024 - Jacob (Annette Marie's husband- who works with her to publish books) has put up a post in Annette's book group explaining a little bit of what's been going on behind the scenes with Blackfire.

A small piece of what he stated: "TLDR: Writing books takes time, publishing books takes time, sometimes projects can't get finished quickly, sometimes you just gotta pay the bills.

Personally, I'll still be patiently waiting for Blackfire to release! While we wait, the new editions of Steel and Stone and the new versions of the audiobooks will be releasing in the next year or two. I'm excited either way!

Update August 2021 - The author explained with a heavy heart in her FB Fan Group that this series will not be coming out this year. She's been releasing more and more books every year and it's just not sustainable for her. Burnout was a very real issue that was creeping up and she decided to take a step back and give herself more time. This series will be released just not now. I am so excited for this series! I absolutely loved the Steel and Stone series as well as the Spell Weaver series. I miss Ash, Piper, Lyre and Cilo. I can’t wait to take a ley line back to my favorite characters!

Is this book EVER going to be released???????? I hate when books take years to be released. That’s a major flaw that I don’t like that authors can have. It makes me almost not want to start more books from their other series because what if they do it with those series as well? I understand books can take a while to write but why not work on the series first and then when it’s done, release them.

At this point, I've been okay with waiting. Given her recent schedule and her injury, I wouldn't expect blackfire to release this year, but maybe in 2025? I hope I'm wrong, of course, but...

Anyway, though! I'm extremely excited for the updated steel & stone series and their kickstarter later this year! And new covers for spell weaver! A reread is definitely due soon.

I went to my “Want to Read” list and sorted it by average ratings, and Blackfire - a book that hasn’t even been released yet - is number 1 😂 Honestly, I think this speaks volumes to Annette Marie’s talent since everyone is so pumped about this book. I found her books by happen chance when I was wanting to get back into reading after an inexplicably long time without having read much and was searching for a quality, YA fantasy on Amazon. I’m beyond glad that I picked up Red Winter, which lead me to Annette’s other series, including the Steel & Stone collection. I’m so excited for Blackfire to come out. I can’t wait!!

I was so disappointed with the end of Steel & Stone series, it felt incomplete. But I just found out that new adventures are coming! Can't wait to see what will happen with Ash and Piper, Lyre and Clio! 5 years later! I love the idea already.

I need this. I feel so much better finishing the series knowing I’ll get more. It didn’t feel right at the end and now I know why!! On to spell weaver for me in the meantime. Hopefully it’s published sooner than 2020 :(

The stew and stone series is one of the best I’ve ever read. I started to read Chase the Dark a while back and stopped. For some reason I picked it up again and it was the absolute BEST decision. I’m so happy we get more of these characters! I love Annette Marie, she’s definitely a favorite author of mine. Can’t wait to read this book!
