Cassie's life has been going pretty good, lately, especially since she and Dex decided to move in together. All that changes suddenly, however, when she finds herself running late for work at the Outreach Center and arise just in time to see the building blown up. Thinking that her friends are all dead, Cassie is devastated, but then she learns that the bomber was actually aiming for her.
Working with a new police detective, Cassie is determined to catch the madman behind the bomb, but he isn't finished. Everything he does is designed to bring Cassie as much pain as possible, even to the point of targeting the shelters where families are housed. When he begins taunting her directly, Cassie becomes even more determined to bring his reign of terror to an end.
And then she learns the horrifying truth. The reason the bomber is out to destroy her life, is because he blames her for destroying his own — and the only way he will stop, he claims, is if Cassie can find him and stop him. It's a horrifying game of cat and mouse, and Cassie isn't sure which part she's supposed to be playing.

The first Cassie Mc Graw book I have read. Very unexpected to have a lead with such emotional, psychological & physical scars. An absolute joy not to have a handsome / beautiful hero or heroine, but a real person who has so much to give & is damned smart in the process! The story was fast paced from the start & I was hooked. Nothing was over the top, all possible & doable.. Dry humour throughout, an amazing computer guy & a cop, who is able to value someone else's ability without having ego issues. Dex is a perfect fit for Cassie - he doesn't crowd her, but is there for her. Loved the scene with Dex & Cassie"s dad, third degree with cigars followed by dung spreading. A gem. Brilliant book, all of David Archer's lead characters are so different, yet all have humanity. Rapidly becoming my favourite author & I have only met Sam, Chance & Cassie.
Well, I have read books 1, 2 and 3, and have to say I liked them very much. They were exciting, fast-paced, hard to put down, the characters were believable. Besides that, it was different to have a woman as the main character, particularly one with a degree in psychology working more or less as a social worker whose job was helping abused women escape their abusers, build their self esteem, help them get jobs and become strong, self reliant women in their communities. And, of course, it didn't hurt that this protagonist happens to have my first name.....Cassandra (Cassie for short, whereas my nickname is Sandra. My mother's twin sister, Cassandra, was the "Cassie" in our family.) So, that was a teeny part of the rating. Maybe one arm of a star! Thanks for writing these exciting books and please continue doing so.
This was my favorite book in the series so far along with the first one. Cassie is becoming a stronger lead female, but almost to the point of being careless. She gets so focused on stopping the bad guy, she keeps putting herself in danger. Does she not think of others in her life? I like the relationship that's developed between Cassie and Dex. The one point I struggled with was Cassie trying to figure out what the clues were to "the game". All through the book she can't figure anything out and then suddenly everything is solved....really??? Would have been more believable to figure out tiny pieces along the way. Obviously she needs to drive a tank everywhere she goes to stop demolishing vehicles. It's a good thing Dex can repair vehicles and she has lots of money. More action in this one and a little faster pace to the story.
As much as I have enjoyed this series, this one was a bit of a stretch. I can even get past that because fiction can be a stretch at times. However, the repetitive narrative about certain scenes happened over and over as if we must not be paying attention the first couple times we read it. Then the "atta girl" pat on the backs and how wonderful Cassie is to all around her made me want to yawn. Actually, many things she did in this book were stupid, and showed she did not think of people in her life who love her before doing them. I guess I feel like this may be the last book I read of this series, but I do not know just yet. I definitely need a break though!
Cassie is Amazing There are a good number of strong, feisty heroines in popular fiction these days. But Cassie McGraw is definitely one of a kind. No one sees things the way she does because her life experiences have honed a unique individual. She may have been the victim of a horrible, devastating, life-changing crime. But she does not have a "victim" mentality. She knows that how she chooses to view life makes all the difference. In her case, she took the very, very bad and is now working it for the good of others.
Fans of romantic suspense will find Cassie's stories a great read. But you don't have to be a romance fan to enjoy these reads. If you enjoy thrillers with strong characters, creepy antagonists, and well-done storylines, welcome to Cassie's world.
I felt so humbled reading this. We sometines complain about our lot in life but here you have a gutsy woman with half her body burned and disfigured . Does she sit around and mope. No she uses her looks to stimulate abused women to leave their abusive husbands. Not only that but she is a trainee Private Investigator. This episode sees an unexpected visitor from her past that is creating mahem. Its up to Cassie to unravel the mystery to try to save lives. Plus interesting development with Dex , her boyfriend . This is a nailbiting book which i read in 2 sittings, only because sleep got in the way. 100% brilliant thriller well worth a read.
Cassie McGraw’s “One Last Game” Is A Real Page-Turner
Book 3 in the Cassie McGraw series is an amazing ‘whodunnit’ with all the twists & turns David Archer is famous for.
In “One Last Game” Cassie is stalked by someone from her past who makes a game out of attacking women who are close to Cassie in order to play with her mind. As more people become ‘collateral damage’ in this bizarre & deadly game, Cassie knows she is one the clock’ to find & put a stop to this macabre game before more innocent women are killed.
Once you start “One Last Game” you won’t be able to put it down.
I didn't really enjoy this book. The main character is a disfigured female who is a private investigator/counselor for abused women? Which is she, really? She's being stalked by a killer who is killing people she's close to. Surprise, surprise! He not only has a genius IQ, but he's also a former US navy seal who is an expert in explosives and computer technology. So he can hack into her files and know everything she is doing? Now, she has a live-in boyfriend, and guess what? He's also disfigured, a result of an accident as a teenager. I think the absurdities are apparent. This was a very disappointing book.
Considering this was not available on Kindle Unlimited but I had to purchase it, it's disappointing there are so many errors in wording. As in completely wrong words being used. I'd already noticed sometimes the author would use "he" when talking about a woman and let it go as a typo. But when it's "The idea was to make his heart a target as possible," instead of "The idea was to make AS HARD a target as possible," it's more difficult to ignore. Unfortunately this was not the only error.
I usually like to read all the series of the books before I give a review. I just finished reading all three books and I am totally excited about what Mr. Archer can do. If you love to read like I do, you will not be disappointed with Cassie McGraw stories. I can hardly wait for the next book and the next one. Please Mr. Archer, keep those books coming.
I enjoyed this series, four books in total and not one boring.
The first books started off strong, so strong I was worried where the author would go, I needn’t had worried, the plots kept coming, back story was delightful.
Cassie was a great heroine and this series had be in stitches at times. What I would say is it give me vibes of Janet Evanovich - One for the Money vibes, before they got silly.
"One Last Game" the 3rd Cassie McGraw book is Outstanding! I somehow missed the 1st two books in the series. ( I will definitely be reading them soon! If you have not read them, you will want to do so soon. )
A MUST READ SELECTION * * * * * FIVES STARS
I received a review copy, at no cost, in exchange for an honest review and have no personal affiliation with the author.
What a marvelous storyline, exciting, entertaining, and fast moving. This character, Cassie McGraw, is marvelous, charming, engaging and a joy to read about! I'm an Ol' Fart bit of hard ass but David Archer had my tears eeking out several times in this story... What a joyful read!
This third book did not disappoint. Cassie and Dex have a ghost from the past haunting them with bombs and mayhem. Classic cars enter the picture, three of which I used to drive. But I wonder how Dec is going to replace the rear window of the Barracuda? I love this series.
I had read the two books before this one, so I decided to read the third one. It did not disappoint. Lots of offbeat action and many twists and turns. Sometimes a little obtuse, but still enjoyable and a little scary. Nice to see a handicapped woman as the main character in the book. I hope there is a fourth book in the series.
This character talks down about her self way to much, for how strong she is, her self destructive comments about her worthiness is horrible. I am also not a fan how in each book they re explain her story. if you are dedicated to a series you should know the story.
However that being said I really enjoy Cassies adventures. Who needs the police when you have Cassie.
Cassie McGraw may get some closure until, and things happen that nearly take her life, again and again and again. The trilogy does have a conclusion. You'll just have to read it for yourself!
Again David Archer has a hit!! Hope this series continues! Beautiful job great ending and hopefully just not over as it seems to segue into into another installment into the lives you have created and enlarged!! Annette Graham
This series of three books were especially great. Loaded with lots of action and suspense made them hard to put down. Really enjoyed the great love story and happy ending. I highly recommend these books to all of your readers.
Cassie is quickly becoming a real interesting character to follow. Archer does a good job of taking a simple abuse counselor and making the events of what should be a simple life into one that makes a reader want to turn the next page.
The latest Cassie book comes back around to the past with some answers really not known. Cassie is great trying to discover who seems to have something against her and why. Enjoy.
I chose this rating because of the repetitive dialogue from the other two books. I understand he was trying to make it a stand alone book but it lost a lot.
Events from the first book in this series continue to affect Cassie - in addition to cementing her career choice. A series of explosions and abductions seem targeted at her - and when the perpetrator reveals himself it's a bit of a shock. Needless to say Cassie works things through...
A fast-paced longer novel than the previous two brings this phase of her career to a satisfying close. (There may be more - but no extract included!)
Another great Cassie adventure. Never a dull moment with this wonderful character!!! You got to love her & Dex! Great action on a well developed story and characters. A must read!
One Last Game (Cassie McGraw Book #3) by David Archer.....
Mystery. Thriller. Bombing. Madman. Target On Her Back. Danger. Drama. Agendas. Emotion. High Stakes Game of Cat and Mouse. Whodunnit. Twists and Turns.
What a story, when a man believes he really has God's permission to kill its a mad race to stop his "game" because that how he sees it. Revenge for killing his brother give him the 'right' to kill indiscriminately, blowing up offices and people. Can Cassie stop him ?
This whole series just ma6th kes you want more. I was skeptical after starting these books. It was so hard to read through the beginning of the first book. Boy, am I glad I stuck with it!
