WHEN GOOD VERSUS EVIL; PAST VERSUS PRESENT COLLIDE
As with all the Taking Charge books in this series, they are each stand-alone stories and can take the reader on a different journey each time. Where it is a historical or contemporary western, a contemporary spy or even a paranormal with witches and warlocks in a battle of light and dark, Ms. Maggie Carpenter will take her readers on an emotional and fascinating ride between the pages of a book.
Vanya Delaney is an assistant to crime reporter Lenny Giswold. They will be thrust into a heinous crime where a woman is lucky to be alive after being cut at her throat by a sword. It was with the aid of a neighbor, Angelo Golden, that Mary Cavalier survived.
Laszio Grigore is a warlock of the coven that follows the light. He is a predecessor of Limner, a warlock from many generations past that made a covenant with Barabas, a warlock from the dark that changed the interaction of humans with witches and warlocks with a pact. “Generation living in peace, and time for the new evil to die out, that ‘s what this pact ensures.” Laszio owns a restaurant and a club.
The plot will have Vanya coming into Laszio’s club for a drink, but before he can approach her, he is called to attend an issue. His barkeep has the foresight to acquire a pink scarf of Vanya that will bring her back to Laszio and from that this journey will begin.
The story will bring the past to the present with the battle of good over evil and the power struggle of which side will win. Kalick will be from the dark warlock of Barabas and Laszio from the light warlock of Limner. When the pact was made that witches and warlocks could no longer have sex with humans, Limner was to marry a human, Valeria. Certain things have been passed down from generation to generation from the lines, which includes the humans. Does Vanya hold the key to unlocking the past?

When Laszio and Vanya meet, there is a connection, chemistry, and powers in play. Once the pact has been broken on the dark side, it also lifts it for the light side. Knowing the history, and legend passed down, has the descendants of Valeria and Limner finally found each other once again?

Terrific Paranormal
I really love a good Paranormal and this is one of the better ones. There is smut and there is BDSM, and there is mystery and danger. The H is a Warlock and the h is a human female. There is a nice HEA.

Eternal love and the eternal battle between good and evil, are at the center of this riveting novel. Although set in the present day, this story reaches deep into the past to an ancient tale of love and loss. Laszio is a restaurateur who also practices an ancient art. Vanya works for a crime reporter, and her and Laszio meet under the shadow of a violent crime. Immediately drawn to each other, they must quickly learn complete trust and a belief in a bigger reality than their day to day lives provide. Laszio is a handsome, charismatic, dominant man who spanks, and Vanya is smart, beautiful, and very attracted to him. She also feels a deeper connection to this man that she doesn't quite understand. When he is accused of a crime, she must decide whether she can make an ultimate leap of faith and go with her heart. The author weaves a whole new world and its history, into this romance. Her vivid imagination and creativity are such fun to experience, whether in describing this new world, or the many unique characters that reside therein. The dessert at the end of this book is the final chapter and epilogue. I found them both to be spellbinding. I also really enjoyed the pictures at the beginning of each chapter as they set the mood. I wasn't sure what to expect from a book with this title. What I found, was a very engaging, exciting story with a heart-stopping romance. This one is a must read!

human,Vanya Delaney.A journey where the past meets the future,good verses evil,light
verses dark.A soul connection that inexplicably draws Laszio to Vanya with all It layers.
The chemistry that burns between them is strong,he made her weak at the knees.This is
a solid read and I loved the dynamics between Laszio and Vanya.The writing is strong,
fast paced with good character development.

The creation of this book is magical in itself. Laszio is a handsome Warlock, leader of all witches and warlocks in his coven. He rules with strength, wisdom, compassion and understanding and is respected by all who follow the light; that which is good in this world. However, when a witch is deserving of a spanking he cannot be talked out of delivering it. Laszio has been unable to find his soul mate, until he meets Vanya, a beautiful woman, but human. There are too many twists and turns to mention but you will be kept on the edge of your seat. I will say no more other than, a purchase of this book will immediately have you under the author's spell and you will be unable to stop reading until the end. It is another fabulous creation by this author who can create no less than five star entertainment. Thanks again for the escape, M.C.

A fantasy
The story is not as well written as I had hoped... there are parts that are exciting to read with lots of fantasy Adventure but then there are other bits that feel disconnected or tacked together... Some of the story is written like a teen novel but then other parts are very grown up... I usually like Dominant men but in this story the Warlock seems to without any forewarning decide to spank or punish... and the girl is very unreal in how she accepts whatever he says... reality is that even with the ancient soul thing this girl should be more pessimistic... instead the whole story is about the warlock getting with the girl... and she doesn't resist at all... its just too easy... and the dark warlock he is always on the back foot so not much of a challenge at all...

Good story with magic, romance and surprises

They face many dangers. There are steamy scenes. The killing of an evil warlock sets of a dangerous chain of reactions. I was surprised who did it. My biggest complaint was how she submissive the witches, and the time Lazsio punished Vanya for doing something outside of a BDSM scene. Vanya is not a child he has the right to completely control.

This isn’t my usual genre but I did find it compelling reading. Lazio is a powerful, handsome hero who has yet to find his soul mate. Vanya stumbles into Lazio’s nightclub and their meeting affects them both. Given that Vanya is human and Lazio is a warlock, can anything come of it? There is an evil menace that is hoping to thwart any likelihood of that happening. If this isn’t your usual genre, give it a try, like me, you may really enjoy it. I received a copy and have voluntarily reviewed it. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Imaginative story of love, magic and the power of good.
Maggie Carpenter has crafted an intricately woven love story. Laszio and Vanya are wonderfully layered characters that are destined to be together. The author artfully combined the sensuality of Laszio and Vanya's love with the marvelous wonders of magic as the battle between good and evil is fought. I started with this book in the series because paranormal is my jam not cowboys lol so this may alter my review. I liked the storyline however I don't mind a little BDSM but it felt misplaced in the beginning of their relationship. This book would have been better if it was it's one series so it would have had a deeper feel to it, it lacked build up and sexual tension most paranormal read have.

This is such a multi-faceted story. I loved the characters, the world building, and the ending was perfect. There are so many levels and twists that you just don’t want to put the book down. Laszio talents are many and Vanya is so sassy and strong. I really enjoyed this book.

Although this book is full of good story telling, it just didn't connect with me. I found it hard to keep reading and had to revisit it a few times before I was able to finish the book. Maggie Carpenter is an amazing writer but this book was not my cup of tea.

This was good, but not (to me) great. I'm not really sure why, except that magic is not my favorite paranormal type. It's worth reading, though, and had a lot of interesting characters, and I really liked the romance and HEA.

I enjoyed this book. The characters are fairly well fleshed out and the story pretty solid. It is an intriguing paranormal story of good vs evil. The reincarnated lovers aspect of the story was pretty good. I loved Vanya's talisman. I only wish there were more to the story.

Book four in the series and it is just getting better I know I want to read the series again when it is completed. A well-written book that kept me turning pages. I would recommend this book.
