From award-winning author Jenna Sutton comes a story of two princes who discover that falling in love is messy...

Prince Leo’s icy demeanor has earned him an amusing nickname—the Polar Prince. Unfortunately, the king doesn’t see the humor. If Leo wants to secure the throne of Alsania, he must improve his image. Participating in an organ donation campaign seems like a good start. He expects to donate his organs on his deathbed, so he’s surprised to be matched with a complete stranger who needs his help now.

Tessa Lulach hates to admit it, but she’s a damsel in distress. When a handsome prince offers to save her with a hunk of his liver, she joyfully accepts. She can’t wait to feel like herself again and return to her beloved flower shop. Instead, her identity is revealed, and the quiet life she loves is turned upside down.

As Leo and Tessa deal with the nosy public and ruthless paparazzi, she realizes the Polar Prince is much warmer than he seems—scorching hot, in fact. He willingly gave her a part of his liver, but can he give her his whole heart?

*****

Everyone loves Prince Marco of Alsania, despite his reckless antics … or maybe because of them. So why does sexy schoolteacher Cassie Lulach prefer a boring investment banker over him? Wounded by her indifference, he has an erotic encounter with a masked woman at a royal ball who reminds him of the one he really wants.

After another failed relationship, Cassie is frustrated with immature, inconsiderate guys. Wanting to escape reality, she attends a masquerade ball and finds herself alone with a masked stranger. For the first time in her life, she acts on impulse, only to end up pregnant and absolutely clueless about the identity of her baby’s father.

When Marco learns of Cassie’s pregnancy and her plans to raise the baby alone, he promises to be there for her, hoping she’ll finally see him as more than just a playboy prince. But then he discovers she’s the woman from the masquerade ball and panics. Will the truth destroy his chance to win over Cassie, or will he convince her that they can have their own happily ever after?

Okay I want one these Princes for my very own! Royal Mess is my first by Jenna Sutton and I'm very impressed. Royal Mess contains two stories about two brothers who just happen to be princes.

As little girls I think we all daydream about a prince riding to our rescue. However in our first story we have Tessa, a florist and Leo the next in line for the throne. He saves Tessas life literally by giving her a piece of his liver. Their relationship flourishes and their stories make you not want to put the book down. Hes the Polar Prince, will Tessa melt his icy exterior and get to the man he really is?

Then we have the Playboy Prince Marco. Hes wild and shameless. He has his own hidden interests and one of those just might be Cassie. She's independent and does her own thing. Having a one night stand at the masquerade ball well that's not normal for her. Now she's pregnant and surprisingly the person she can rely on most is Marco. When the truth of who the babys father is comes to light. These two will have to battle insecurities, each others feelings, and themselves to survive.

I loved both and didn't want them to end. Seriously great reads

Marie's Tempting Reads ARC Review:

OH MY SWEET HEAVENS I ADORED ROYAL MESS BY JENNA SUTTON! We get TWO sigh/drool/heart bursting romances with Royal Mess and they were SPECTACULAR! I seen all the dreams I had as a kid about a prince coming to the rescue coming true in this AMAZING story. I fell in utter LOVE with both Marco and Leo. These two princes were incredibly different but they were both incredible stand up men and stunning heroes. And Cassie and Tessa were brilliant and strong heroines who deserved these two wonderful princes. Their stories are well thought out, will touch your hearts, make you believe in HEA and will make you fall in love with romance all over again. This is ONE OF THE MOST INCREDIBLE READS OF THE YEAR!

I haven't read anything by Jenna Sutton before but after Royal Mess I am EAGER to check out ALL her books! I have never felt such...such completeness or hope or had my feelings that were so mushy as I did with this book. Its a great feeling and one I want to feel all the time.

Royal Mess gets a WILL LEAVE YOUR HEART SWOONING FIVE SHOOTING STARS!

Love in it's finest moment. Jenna Sutton is a keeper. Royal Mess is a duet that pays homage to the classic fairytale, by putting it's own spin on things. Love can happen at the worst of times. Tessa and Leo are proof that a little bit of faith can end up going the distance. Ms. Sutton keeps the dream alive with irresistible men (Princes no less) and ordinary women driven to face some extraordinary circumstances with their ability to love intact. Royal Mess is what humanity should be. A person willing to lend a hand to another in need.

Royal Mess is two novellas, Royal Match and Royal Catch, featuring the royal brothers, Leo and Marco, princes of Alsania. Leo meets Tessa when he donates part of his liver to her, thereby saving her life. Cassie is Tessa's sister, so she and Marco see each other frequently when Cassie is with Tessa.

My first introduction to this author was in Barreled Over, which I loved, so I had to have a look at what she did with the royalty trope. I loved both princes' stories, but Leo and Tessa's story was near and dear to my heart. Or actually my kidney. Having lived all of my adult life with one less kidney than God gave me, I realized the importance of organ donation and signed up to be a donor soon after my kidney and I parted ways. I’m always more appreciative when steamy, heartfelt romance also has a message, and this is a vital message. As the author says in her note after the story, “Souls go to heaven. Organs do not,” so if someone else can benefit from parts I no longer need, I’m all for it. I'm trying really hard not to be pushy, but it’s so easy to become a donor, and a great feeling knowing it may save lives.

That aside, I loved both of these stories. The thing I loved about Leo and Tessa's story was that Leo got to be himself with Tessa, and that’s who she fell in love with. Not the prince or the public figure, but the man. And who doesn’t love a bad boy's redemption story? Marco is a player of royal proportions, and it took over a year and some extraordinary circumstances for Cassie to see that she was the only girl he wanted. These stories both have a little humor, a lot of heat and a ton of heart, and are sure to please even the most aristocratic tastes.

I thoroughly enjoyed both stories about two princes, one destined to be King, the Polar Prince, who has a problem with his popularity numbers and likability with his people, and the Playboy Prince, the younger one who has impulse problems until he is falls in love with the one woman who does not want him. Leo was on the donor registry but didn't plan on having to donate part of his liver while still alive, however, Tessa is dying of liver failure from an infection received when her doctor gave her an antibiotic her body could not process after cutting her hand. His popularity increases after the surgery but, of course, the King is not satisfied and wants more and leaks Tessa's name so she will do a media tour. Leo and Tessa have already gotten close in the hospital but close quarters everywhere else will they find true love?

Marco has been in love with Cassie since he met her. Hard to believe since he is the playboy who cannot settle down but he has been celibate for nearly a year but she doesn't want to give him the time of day. A mistaken identity hookup at the masquerade party leaves Cassie pregnant. When Marco figures out he is the father he does not give up until he convinces Cassie to marry him. He is over the moon with the thought of being a father but will Cassie feel the same?

Definitely recommend these fast paced stories that can be read in an afternoon!

ROYAL MATCH
~Leo & Tessa~

Rating: 4 Stars

Leo and Tessa meet for the first in the hospital. After having a terrible allergic reaction to an antibiotic, Tessa's liver starts to fail and she's in desperate need of a living donor, someone who would be willing to give up a piece their liver to her. She's floored when her doctor reveals there is a match for her, none other than Prince Leo, the heir to the Alsania thrown. The man the media has dubbed the Polar Prince.

This was a perfect afternoon read, I loved Leo and Tessa and their romance was sweet but also packed with heat. They meet under unusual circumstances but their connection is instant. Tessa sees the man behind the royal title and public image. Leo is kind and generous to a fault and he also cares deeply about his country and his people. Falling for him is crazy and Tessa feels there's no future for them, not when he's next in line to the thrown and she's a commoner, a flower shop owner who never would have met him otherwise.

Tessa brings out the best in Leo and she makes him want to be a better man. Falling in love with her is both exhilarating and scary. Around her he can let down his guard and just be Leo, the man, not the royal, but is he enough to tempt her into the spotlight that being by his side would entail?

I read this in one sitting because I couldn't put it down and loved it from page one to that sugary sweet ending. Tessa and Leo were cute together and their story was fun and fast paced. A modern fairy tale with a sweet girl who gets swept off her feet by the charming prince and a HEA that left me smiling.

SAFETY INFO:

ROYAL CATCH
~Marco & Cassie~

Rating: 3.5 Stars

Marco has been in love with Cassie since first meeting her but no matter how many times he pursues her, she always rebuffs him. His past as the Playboy Prince has finally come back to haunt him. When he learns that Cassie is going on a romantic trip to Italy with her boyfriend, he feels depressed and thinking maybe it is time to move on.

Cassie won't allow herself to take Marco's relentless flirting seriously, his reputation paints a pretty clear picture of a confirmed bachelor and she's not interested in a short term fling. But when she breaks up with her boyfriend and attends the masquerade ball last minute, she bumps into a mystery man that reminds her so much of Marco that she finds herself acting reckless for the first time and hooking up with the masked man.

This was a case of mistaken identity that leads to some angst and drama for Cassie and Marco. When Marco realizes that his mystery woman was actually Cassie the whole time, he's relieved and elated. (He’d been feeling guilty for that one night because he felt like he’d cheated, even though he and Cassie weren’t yet a couple). He struggles with finding the right time to confess to Cassie that he was the hook up that got her pregnant. He sees this small window of opportunity to prove to Cassie that he's not the carefree playboy anymore, but a man ready to settle down with the woman he loves and more than willing to embrace family life with her.

He was persistent, supportive, possessive and nothing but loving with Cassie. Definitely a swoon worthy book boyfriend. Cassie was also a cool heroine, she didn't send mixed signals or push him away. Their romance was touching even with the giant secret between them, I still fell in love with them as a couple.

I also really loved the fact that we get dual POVs. Knowing whats going on inside both MCs minds makes a huge difference in how relatable they can become. This is a new author for me but I enjoyed this book and will definitely be checking out more if this is an example of her writing. You can never have too many comfort reads with cute couples, simmering heat and romance this sweet.

Memorable Moments:
"My Cassie is pregnant?" I barely register the bemused expression on Leo's face. "She's going to have a baby?"

When Marco finds out the woman he's been in love with is pregnant and last he heard, she was still seeing the OM, it was both heartbreaking to see him loose the last bit of hope that he would ever have a chance with her and also sweet how protective he was of her. He became supportive and possessive of her and her baby and made him a real life prince charming, IMO.

SAFETY INFO:

Would I recommend?
Yes, I loved the ease of their romance, both couples were likable and sweet. It was a drama free love story about people finding love and happiness where they least expect it. If you like insta-love romance with a touch of humor and off the charts sexiness, this duo might be right up your alley.

It’s no secret that I am not a big fan of short stories and Insta love – so what was the reason for me to choose to review Royal Mess by Jenna Sutton - ? Well it was the plot – it was far to tempting so I went into it knowing there was a 70 / 30 chance of me NOT like it.
But yeah the plot sounded that good so I took the chance.

And what can I say – the 30 % won …

I was mostly drawn to the first story in this book which is the story of the “Ice” Prince Leo. The author goes against anything I have read so far when it comes to royal romances. I guess its no secret as the blurb tells it already – placing his own life at risk - especially being a crown prince – and not because he wants to do good but simply because he wants to improve his image… yeah you figured it out #controversial much ?
So I had to find out where this would go.

And the author really went for it full force with no excuses. I love the traditional approach on royal contemporary romances but as confusing as it sounds it was refreshing the way this was written. Very different. Maybe because it did not feel royal somehow ? – it felt more like a “simple” high profile wealthy family. But I leave that for all the other readers to decide for themselves.

The only thing I can say is that I believe a lot of readers will love this story and if you are looking for an entertaining read that is not to long this might be your book if the blurb appeals to you. While I can not give this story a full 5 star rating as the characters were not deep enough (but that was to be expected of a novel of this length) – it still was much better than I had originally hoped.

Royal Mess by Jenna Sutton

Two princes marry commoners in this delightful royal romance duology! Crown Prince Leo, trying to improve his image, plans to donate a portion of his liver to a commoner only to end up parting with his heart as well. Of course Tess also ends up in love with Leo and there is a happily ever…in spite of a glitch or two.

Marco, the spare prince, falls for Cassie but is stymied by her boyfriend and seeming disinterest. When an opportunity for him to show Cassie that his playboy days are over they, too, end up with a HEA…did love the epilogue of this one with the white wolf and bumblebee masks ;)

Both are fun easy reads that left me feeling happy so if you are looking for a royal romance or two to pass the day – give these two a try. Oh, forgot to say, these princes are definitely human and oh so very very very enchanting ;)

Thank you to the author for the ARC delivered through NetGalley – This is my honest review.

What is better than one royal story? How about 2 royal stories in one book! I loved the tales about 2 princely brothers who find love. Each story was about a Prince, who could not be more different, Prince Leo’s icy and Prince Marco is warm and almost like a big kid.

Both find love and I loved every second of it. With the Royal Wedding coming up, I am on a Royal kick right now!

"Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for the advance copy of this book, in exchange for an honest review."

This was my first book to read and review for Jenna Sutton and I thoroughly enjoyed it. My favorite of the 2, is Prince Leo and Tessa's story. In their story, Tessa had an allergic reaction to antibiotics that caused her liver to fail, prompting her to need a liver transplant. Wanting to increase his public positive numbers, Prince Leo signs up to be a living donor, never thinking he would actually need to donate. Well, he was a match for Tessa. After the transplant, they become very close and quickly fall in love. These were amazing books and I recommend them to anyone looking for a good read.

Not having read any other works by the author before, I didn’t know what to expect before reading this book and needless to say I was not disappointed at all. From the eye catching cover the intriguing synopsis, Sutton delivers a novella duology perfect for those that love royalty and romance.

In Royal Mess we get to meet twenty-nine year old, Tessa Lulach, a florist who is in desperate need of a liver transplant. Not only does she have a rare blood type, but that country in which she lives in doesn’t have a lot of people participating as donors. It has made it hard for her to find a match, until she finds one in non other than Prince Leo. He has agreed to donate a chunk of his liver, yet when they first meet he seemed a bit distant and reserved. Known as the “Polar Prince” for his demeanor, Prince Leo starts to open up with her when they’re in the hospital recovering together. Tessa tells him how she ended up needing a liver transplant and as the two start to get closer the more she sees the real Leo. He is charming and protective to her that she begins to develop feelings for him.

Prince Leo never expected to like Tessa the way he does after getting to know her well. He has put duty first for so long that he has forgotten about his love life. He knows that the public see differently, but he cares for his country that he will do anything to gain their favor. When his father suggest they go on a tour advocating for organ donations in his country, he does so with the help of Tessa. But it takes one kiss and a paparazzi ambush to change the course of events. Now they have to decide if pursuing a relationship is worth it or not.

I loved this story, it was fairly short but the author still managed to deliver a romantic story filled with steamy scenes to keep you reading until the very end. Leo’s protectiveness towards Tessa was sweet to read, he was definitely swoon worthy. Tessa is such a hard worker and a total trooper after finding herself in need of liver transplant. We do get to learn more about her past which was nice and the ending tied everything really well.

In Royal Catch we are introduced to Cassandra (Cassie) Lulach, a teacher who is ready to meet the one. After planning a trip with her boyfriend, things don’t go according to plan so she is decides to go to the masquerade ball that her sister and brother-in-law are planning. It is then that she meets a stranger that remains her of the person that she can’t stop thinking about and that is of Prince Marco. She has had feelings for him ever since they met, but she knows that he is a total womanizer and might not share her feelings. When she has sex with a stranger at the ball, she never expected to find herself dealing with so much more five weeks later. Now she has find a way to deal with changes in her life.

Prince Marco has the looks, title and wealth to get just about anyone that he wants, but he only wants one person and that is Cassie. He has been attracted to her ever since they first met and he doesn’t know if she shares his feelings. He has been trying really hard to escape his past, but being known as the “Playboy Prince” can attract the wrong type of women to his life and he doesn’t want that anymore. When he finds out about Cassie’s condition, he is immediately there willing to help with anything he can, but there are so many things changing that he has to make a choice about what he wants and if he is willing to fight for her or not.

This story was entertaining to read as well as steamy and romantic. Prince Marco knows how to woo a woman and he is willing to do anything to make Cassie his. I loved how the two communicated with each other, Marco knows about the things that she likes and he learns about them himself so that they can talk about them together. Cassie is such a strong and smart character as well. Although their decisions were questionable sometimes, the story felt a lot more developed than Royal Mess. I definitely loved the ending in this story, it was sweet and it fit them really well. I would highly recommend giving this book a try, you will not regret it! :)

I'm a little obsessed with Royal love these last few weeks. Royal Mess does a great job bringing the love to the forefront. Both novellas are similar but the Prince's are very different. Held together by customs and traditions while showing their naughty side.

Royal Match focuses on the heir, Prince Leo. He's not a favorite amongst his people but since he's next inline to the throne he's a little more stuffy then he could be. Lucky for him he's matched perfectly with Tessa. She's sweet, shy but knows how to win the hearts of friends and acquaintances alike. The pair go on tour discussing the benefits of transplants and how vital they are for the world. Throughout their tour they form a closer bond, dare I say love, but they each have trust issue. They pair goes their separate ways for a bit only to realize what they had was real.

Despite being the Prince, he knows how to grovel to win her heart and love happily ever after.

Royal Catch is a novella about Prince Marcus, the spare. Known as the playboy Prince he's had a lot more fun than his brother but is ready to settle down. He's set his sites Cassie however she's seen his ways and isn't falling. She's always given him the cold shoulder despite her secret crush. Their connection is passion and lust but Marcus realizes that they need more if they are going to make it work.
The more that these two created was so sweet. I loved the ending to their HEA.

Royal Mess

Royal Mess captured my attention on the first page and I couldn't stop reading. The Polar Prince, Leo and Tessa made for one heck of a couple.

The unique storyline, coupled with the Royal/Commoner theme made for an exciting and fun read. Tessa and Leo had great chemistry. Tessa was a determined woman, who was. whirlwind to Leo. They complimented each other well. Royal Mess is great read, and the underlying focus on the importance of organ donation was a unique aspect I really appreciated.

Royal Catch

Cassie and Marco have an interesting ride to their relationship in Royal Catch. Marco is a playboy Prince, and Cassie has her doubts. After they spend a night together, Marco is even more determined to prove he means what he is saying. Cassie was an interesting character, she was protective of herself, but Marco really stole the show while proving himself. I really enjoyed the chemistry and storyline in Royal Catch.

Overall, both Novellas are cute quick reads. They can be read on their own or back to back. I would recommend to the royal romance reader looking for a fast, safe read.

I was in the perfect frame of mind to read this book. Being excited about the real world royals upcoming nuptials I was looking for a royals love story. Ms Sutton is a new to me author and I was very pleased with the first book I was fortunate enough to read.

We get two stories of (brother)Princes who fall for sisters. Both get their own story while the make appearances in each story. Each story is roughly 50 percent of the book. Nothing is lost in either story and you truly get a full story in a shorten version.

I equally loved Prince Leo and Prince Marco's stories. Both sisters Tessa and Cassie were such interesting characters. Strong women who manage to completely knock each prince off their feet.

I a m happy to say that I will be looking for more from Ms Sutton.

Happy Reading~ Sherry

A big thank you to NetGalley and Jenna Sutton for the ARC. I am voluntarily reviewing this book. I have to say that I have loved both books I have read by Ms. Sutton. This book was fast paced. I enjoyed both of the stories. Fun and different, and I love the fact that she has Leo and Tessa meet in such an unusual way.. Marco and Cassie's story made me laugh. I think most romance readers will love this book. If you enjoy reading about royal you will like this book as well. I rate it 4.5 stars!!

This book was definitely steamy. Leo and Tessa had chemistry from page one and it burst though to the end. This was a shorter book, but I didn’t mind. This love story was intense enough and had the right elements to make it realistic. This was a first from this author, but she is one I will continue to read. There were a few elements I think could have been expanded on to lengthen the story and add a bit more substance, but I’m okay without them.

Leo and Tessa’s siblings get their own novella too. Marco and Cassie’s story has steam just like the book before it, but the problems were a bit more predictable. Now, don’t get me wrong, the predictability of the story does not take away from the enjoyment of this story. I found myself not wanting to put this book down and definitely recommend it.

This is my first book to read by Jenna and I am so happy with what I read! This is a two-in-one read: two stories in one book. The first story is about Leo and Tessa. The second story is about Marco and Cassie. So I'll write "two" reviews in this one.

Leo/Tessa:
From page one, the story captivated me. It was an interesting way to meet the characters and for the characters to meet each other. I thought this was a great read. It was well paced, sweet, endearing, sexy, with not too much drama. It truly was just a quick and light read. It was told in dual POV (which I LOVE), so that was a nice surprise!

I liked Tessa. She was strong, kind, caring, brave, loving, and loyal. When faced with tragedy, she took everything thrown at her with wit and love. She was a wonderful female lead.

Leo, aka the Polar Prince, was adorable. I liked how he was a bit stiff at the beginning, but we see him loosen up, show us his true inner feelings. He was sweet, caring, loyal, protective, and actually had a sense of humor once he opened up. He's a true "knight in shining armor" sort of guy.

All in all, this was a great read!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Marco/Cassie:
Similar to Leo/Tessa's story, this one captured my attention from the very beginning. It was well paced, not too rushed, sweet, sexy, with just the right amount of drama to keep me happy.
Cassie is a strong, independent, sweet, loving woman. Like her sister, when things go awry, she picked herself up and proceeded to deal with it (even if it meant going at it alone).
Marco had been labeled the Playboy Prince, but when he meets Cassie, he stops his old ways. He knows what he wants, but he doesn't push to get what he wants. He's a wonderful friend, listener, sexy, sweet, caring, doting, loyal, and has quite the dirty mouth. I love seeing him change his ways for Cassie, shows her he's changed for the better because of her.
All in all, this was a wonderful, quick, light read!
Two novellas, two princes and two wonderful romances! I thoroughly enjoyed these stories by Jenna Sutton. The first one is Tessa and Leo. Leo is preparing to become king, but with his poor ratings, he needs to do something to become favored in the public eye. Tessa is in need of a liver transplant and who better to come to her rescue than a prince? This is a sweet romance! I loved the chemistry from the first meeting of Tessa and Leo discussing mustard! It's a meltdown of the "Polar Prince's" heart and will leave you swooning.
The second story gives us the second in line to the throne, Marco. He has been in love with Tessa's sister for a while now, but has made no moves. Cassie has a one night stand and when she becomes pregnant, Marco is the one she can lean on. I loved their story, not only for their budding relationship, but for the way they are able to talk, and work through their uncertainty. Marco especially is a fun character who normally is full of confidence shows his more vulnerable side. Both brothers are easy to fall for and left me with a happy heart.
The narration of these two novellas brings royalty to life! You could not have a better voice to give us the confident princes than Jason Clarke. He gives Leo and Marco that regal feel, yet both are totally approachable. I love the way he gives them an emotional side making them seem so human! Tessa and Cassie need a voice that is strong and confident. Each have baggage coming with them into their relationships, but have definite ideas. Ava Lucas has a talent giving each their own style and personality, I love that she can make Tessa and Cassie stand on their own with inflections of their voices yet have a soft side as well. It's a narration you do not want to miss!
Royal Mess by Jenna Sutton is a novella duology. The two books focus on two brothers who are princes in the small country of Alsania, and their father is the king. Their royalty and good-looks are attractive to most women, however, finding "the one" is quite difficult.
Royal Match
This story is about Prince Leo, the eldest brother and heir to the throne. Because Leo's approval rating is so low, his father has pushed back his abdication for the time being. Leo needs to improve his image in order to be the next king.
Tessa Lulach, a talented florist, is in need of a liver transplant. Luckily, Prince Leo has the same rare blood type as Tessa and agrees to save her life. Tessa is a lovely woman who finds Leo to be both kind and thoughtful, completely unlike his public persona. After the successful transplant, Tessa and Leo embark on a publicity tour to raise organ donation awareness. Their unique bond evolves into lust, love and forever.
This novella is both meaningful and inspiring. A five star read!
Royal Catch
This story is about Prince Marco, the fun and carefree royal. In spite of Marco's womanizing ways, the public loves him. Ironically, Marco is in love with Tessa's sister Cassie, and the feeling is mutual. Neither of them know about the feelings of the other. Cassie enjoys her job as a school teacher and would like to be in a loving relationship. During a royal masquerade ball, Marco and Cassie hook-up in the folly, which evolves into discovery, love and lots of babies.
If you enjoy a short story with a ton of hot sexy times, then Royal Catch is for you. A three star read!
Just days before Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's big day, I can't imagine reading anything more perfect! Royal Mess is an absolutely delightful read! The duo of two standalone novellas is quick, but incredibly fulfilling. Both books broadcast the end results fairly clearly even the synopses are quite revealing. So there's not much of a surprise about the conclusion of the stories. But, they're incredibly enjoyable and satisfying nonetheless.
Prince Leo and Tessa's story is sweet and unique. The organ donation twist is an uncommon and refreshing addition to what could have been a staid and boring premise. Royal Mess is anything but stale. It's fun, fresh, and thoroughly charming!
Prince Marco and Cassie's story bucks the trends as well. You may initially think it's going to be another 'commoner falls in love with royalty' story. And it is that, but the surprise pregnancy trope makes it so much more! Marco and Cassie are a tad crazy, but completely perfect for each other.
Royal Mess delivers not one but two heartwarming and deeply satisfying stories. I am not sure which story is my favorite, I LOVE them both! And, I'm confident you will love them too!
I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review
My Rating: 4.5 Stars
Those who have followed my reviews for a while know this about me: I’m not a huge fan of novellas. I always feel like things are rushed and its honestly torture. GIVE ME FULL BOOKS! I don’t mind an informational novella in a fantasy series, but I prefer my romance novels full length for sure. That being said, this particular duo of novellas was really enjoyable for me. Alert the presses! My tastes may be changing! (Not likely, I’m sure this an exception to a rule that will live on)
The first novella, Tess and Leo, was just too damn cute. They were all kinds of awkward and adorkable and I loved it. The cold prince falls in love with the woman he donated his kidney to. Really, nothing cuter. Do you guys think that if I get sick I can snag a prince? I don’t know how cute I would look with my ass hanging out of a hospital gown, unfortunately. Anyways! Tessa and Leo were adorable and the chemistry between them literally sizzled. I’ve read quite a few romance novellas, and have never seen chemistry jump off of the page in such a brief story. I laughed, I cried, I had to fan myself. It was really, a fantastic little story.
Now, onto the second novella in this book. Oh Marcus, you adorable little cinnamon roll. Who the hell doesn’t love a bad boy? A reformed bad boy is one of my all time favorite things and I adored Marco’s tale. He was sweet and thoughtful but also still a complete idiot. The conflict in this particular novella was a little more developed than the conflict in the first. It honestly had my stomach in knots as I screamed at Marco to get his shit together for Cassie.
I’m sure at this point you’re wondering why I gave a book I clearly enjoyed less than five stars. Its just…I wish they had been full length novels. I loved their stories, but there was so much room for growth and development and I will always miss out on those things when I read a book that is too short.
My Takeaway: The two novellas in this book were sweet, smile inducing, and hot as all hell. Though I do wish that they had been separated and written as two full length novels, I did enjoy the stories and the chemistry between the characters.
ROYAL MATCH – Tessa’s allergic reaction to an antibiotic has made it necessary for someone to donate a piece of their liver to save her life. Her perfect match is none other than the heir to the Alsania throne, Leo and he is more than willing to help as he believes it is the perfect way to improve his public image. Due to the media storm that ensues they end up spending time together and Tessa realizes there is much more to the Prince than she first thought but is there a happy ever after for two people from such different lifestyles.
ROYAL CATCH – Prince Marco has had feelings for Cassie for a while, but she has rebuffed all his advances due to his reputation with the ladies. While at a masquerade ball they share a steamy encounter, but they don’t know who the other is. When they find out Cassie is pregnant will the truth come to light and will Marco be able to convince Cassie that she is the only woman he wants?
I really like that both Princes were despite their position were relatable and not arrogant while the women they chose were modern working women. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
I quite liked the focus of the first story, organ donation. I read some books with this theme as well, but in Royal Mess, it's pretty much the core of the story. Without it, our characters - Leo and Tessa - wouldn't even have met!
As for the second story, it all starts with a masquerade ball and I love reading about those. There's always a vibe of mystery and suspense that simply gets to me.
The writing is as good as I expected it to be. Both stories aren't very lengthy, so I sped through them in no time. There are plenty of (very) graphic sexual scenes though, so be aware of that should you decide to pick it up!
I did like both stories, but I wished the characters weren't so.. flat. The focus was overly on them meeting, having their sexual tension and then ending up happy. I would've loved more fleshed out characters, more us getting to know them and they getting to know each other, instead of having the focus on the sexual aspect. But honestly, that's totally me.. It's been a while since I picked up a novel like this one, after all.
It was an enjoyable read, though! So for that, four stars!
I can't not express how much I loved both of these novellas. I'm the first perseverance Prince Leo who is called the Polar Prince because hectares cold to everyone in the kingdom. When his advisors suggested signing up for organ donation he never thought hed be giving up half his liver by when he meets the woman who needs it he is all in. Tessa is dying with a liver and when she gets one but finds out its from Prince Leo she surprised. After the surgery works these two have a connection and an attraction that can't be ignored.
Cassie knows Prince Marco flirt with everyone so when he flirts with her she never takes him seriously. Marco is in love with Cassie but when she goes on face with her boyfriend he knows he needs to move on. He has a sexy encounter with a woman at a masquerade ball that reminds him of cassie but still he wants her. Cassie was that woman and gets pregnant and when he finds out he offers to be there for her not knowing at first that's he's the father. I loved these love story sweet and sexy perfect mix!
Royal Mess contains two novellas. Each featured two royal bothers who seem to be different but express the same emotions in very different ways. The first features Tessa Lulach and Prince Leo, The Polar Prince. Tessa needs a liver transplant and Leo offers part of his. This leads to a interesting love story. The second features Tessa's sister Cassie Lulach and Leo's brother Prince Marco, the playboy prince. They also have an interesting romance. Both are fun to read. If you cannot get enough of royalty these are a good choice.
I received a free copy of the book in return for an honest review.
Royal Mess is two stories in one - Royal Match, the story of Leo & Tessa & Royal Catch. the story of Marco & Cassie. I loved them both. I'm a sucker for an HEA and this one had two HEAs but it was more than that. It was also well written & wove in real issues.
Royal Match is the story of Tessa, a woman with a rare blood type that needs a liver transplant & Leo, the prince that is trying to improve his image with the people of his kingdom by donating a piece of his liver to Tessa since he is a match. Tessa is a strong, happy woman, even in adversity, that begins to 'thaw' the princes heart. Their interactions made me smile & at times worry. Their chemistry was off the charts & had my tablet smoking.
Royal Catch is the story of Cassie, Tessa's sister & Marco, Leo's brother & 'spare prince'. Marco was a playboy but changes his ways to try to win Cassie's heart. Cassie is caring, loves being a teacher and doesn't think the prince would be interested in het until one fateful nights events change everything. Cassie & Marco are great together as friends and then better as lovers. 🔥🔥
Romance, comedic interactions, situations that pull at your heart, Royal Mess has them all. I would wholeheartedly recommend this book.
This is the first time I had read any books from this author. I received a copy of this book from InkSlingers as I will be sharing this book and review on my Facebook book review page. With all of the hype of the royal wedding, I figured this book would be like every other royal book. I was surprised with the storyline. It was a nice change to see Leo and Tessa meet as an organ donor. It was beautifully written and kept my attention until the end. I will be put more of Sutton's books on my TBR list.
I will admit that I’m a sucker for a well written romance involving royalty. Royal Mess provides two of them. Totally believable, and actually touching on some important issues (the first one revolving around transplants) but doing so in the context of totally delightful romances. There’s no cheating or similar plot devices, and no evil actors to hate. What we have here is simply pure enjoyment that’s well done, well plotted and with wonderful lead and supporting characters. I’m not going to summarize the plot as that’s more than well enough done in the publishers blurb, but I will close by saying I loved both Tessa and Leo (in the first story, Royal Catch) and Tess’ sister Cassie (yes, it’s no real spoiler to give away that there was a HEA in book 1) with Leo’s brother Marco in tale 2. You need to read these stories in order but both individually and as a set they’re highly recommended.
