Daughters Of Midnight, an enchanting new series by Ellen Dugan Book Midnight Gardens The beating heart of any garden is magick... Drusilla Midnight, a successful children’s book author, returns home to the sleepy little riverside village of Ames Crossing, Illinois. Recently divorced, she is planning to take some personal time to put her life in order, and to reconnect with her grandmother and two sisters. Descended from a long line of herbalists and wise women, Dru is determined to reclaim her family’s traditions and practices. While she was away, the family property has become overgrown and fallen into a state of disrepair. Drusilla resolves to take on the task of restoring the grounds herself, and to bring back to life the enchanting gardens that have inspired her books. However, a troubled, angry young girl and her attractive guardian, Garrett Rivers seem to constantly interrupt Dru’s master plan for solitary soul searching. The last thing Dru was looking for was love, and it will take a touch of the garden’s natural magick to make her learn to trust again. For even the wisest of women must learn that love can spring up unexpectedly into their life, take the strongest of hearts by surprise, and change their path forever.

This was cozy, sweet and fun. Don't let the cover fool you, it's actually a very sweet story. Good for fans of Charmed, the Good Witch, and anything witchy.
Was only going to read for about 10 minutes and then get on with my chores . I ended up completing the book downloading the second one . Kept me spellbound .
First off lemme just say how I truly felt like I had come home upon reading this magical series. I just felt all happy and warm inside. The first of the series I read was book 3 MIDNIGHT PROPHECY all about Cammy and her cute, short hot pink hair! You can read that review when you check out book 3 😊. In *THIS* book we have Druscilla returning HOME finally now she's at last divorced!!! Eureka!!! Now if only Cam, Gran and their other sister can convince her to STAY,give herself a break and date. As a well known children's book author Dru ADORES kids. karma gains the last laugh as she was told she can't get pregnant...and the last straw for the rat of her ex husband. So now she's home and trying to take deep cleansing breathes....while doing so she catches a handsome ma n that she thinks could possibly be part selkie??? Who is that hunky guy???? Maybe while helping out Gran and her sisters she can write a new kids book about fairies. How did she know she'd be quickly blessed with her own quasi fairy. SURPRISE! Enter a lost, forlorn, feeling alone pre teen hiding out from the world in their garden....and it seems her garden and all their magic have adopted this child as one of them. When said childs guardian shows up to take her home she was floored when non other than that hot selkie guy showed up. Talk about a small world. All their familiar magic is sending its way around....who else is meant to be in this family? I love seeing the love and healing with this young girl helping her become a butterfly of her own. This series makes me happy ans I truly hope there's more to come. Great characters , prophecies, mysteries, family, communion and love. These themes run all throughout this gem. ENJOY!!
A wonderful read. Reminds me of Nora Roberts and Sarah Painter with a dash of Linda Howard. A lovely plot of a woman recovering from a divorce (her inability to have children led to her husband's infidelity) coming back to the house she and her sisters were raised in by their gran. However the return has her succumbing to the attractions of her next door neighbour and his aggressive and wounded ward. As she fights the attraction she slowly gets back to her magical roots whilst breathing new life into the neglected gardens around the house and interacting with the flowers and plants that fill it. Will she get over her past? Will the relationship between them flourish? Will she mend a young girl's broken heart? Terrific characters that have just rhetoric right amount of warmth and magic to breathe life into the story.
Not sure enough about this one to give it a full 5 stars. The writing was good, and the story flowed nicely, but the emphasis was too much on the mystical, and not enough on the practical. The hero of the story was late thirties, and so probably had a past, but the book gives zero information on past relationships, upbringing, siblings, parents, every pertinent thing really. It was basically 3 dates, no relevant dialogue, they're in love, and that's the end of the book. But, I finished it, so that says something.
Not the typical happy sappy romance story. More a story of failing and finding your way back again. Dru Midnight is a successful author, but her marriage failed and she returns to her home town. Where she finds a orphaned girl needing a friend and a new man. As she brings the garden back to its full splendor, she learns to trust a man with her heart again. Its a fun read, with interesting characters.
This was another winner. I read this book second and loved both of them. This author writes wonderful characters and great storylines in every book. The sisters are great and their partners are great too. I highly recommend all her books to everyone who loves witches and great love stories. Diana Romano
In this later stage of my life, I am so enjoying stories of love and romance, with the perfect bit of magick Ellen Dugan puts in her books. I am so totally ENCHANTED; I’m always anxious for the next book in whatever series I am reading. So...Ellen...please keep writing!
We’ll written, steady paced and fun story. Three sisters, grandma, petulant child, cats, plants and magic….what’s not to love? Really enjoyed the plant references!!! And…..of course the men. A bit of adult imagery but tastefully done and appropriate for the story.
I loved this book! I wish it was a full length novel, and I can’t wait for the next books in the series. It was a quick read and even hours later I’m still thinking about the characters and wishing there were more to read! Excellent job Ellen :)
Once again Ellen has wowed me with her characters and the little tidbits of knowledge peppered throughout. I definitely want to read more. My only true complaint is the pacing seemed a little fast. But, that could also be that I read fairly quickly.
You've done it again Ellen!!! I couldn't read fast enough yet lingered on every word. I love the heat between the characters and enjoyed the whimsical garden flowers. I cannot wait for book 2 to see what magick you've woven.
Ellen has been killing it with the book series! This new series is a great one to get lost in, a beautiful story with some romance mixed in. Can't wait for June!
I'm actually leaving this review after the second time I read the story. As a second book in this Saga the story holds you captive. The two families depicted in the stories are incredible. The characters just grab you and hold you in this story. Highly recommend
I thought the story was really nice. I loved the relationship between Dru and Brooke; how it blossomed. The love story was expected but still pleasant and surprising.
This has that slow, earthy, almost surreal Magic filled narration, almost a mary stewart voice. I really like the sisters and the setting, and look forward to seeing what happens next!
Excellent! It was a lovely story with characters that I liked and cared for. I really liked that the story was told from one person's perspective, you never knew what the other characters were thinking and it made the whole romance aspect a lot more fun.
I loved the entire book. The people are so true. They are human with a touch of magic. The flowers are very engaging. The kittens add the final touch of whimsy. I loved the romance and the family. Beutifully done. I recommend this story.
Good character s nice story simple and enchanting sometimes its simplicity in the making thank you. Loved the characters the plot the innocence and family. enjoy the journey
OK, I'm hooked on this story. I wish this one had been longer and I did not get a "Stay tuned for next installment in June, 2018" !!! I'm ready for next book now!
