The true measure of a man is not in the mistakes he makes…but in how he handles those mistakes.
Cael Holland devoted himself to his friends and family, but when his niece becomes ill, he steps up to share the burden. Out on the town one night, he runs into her. The woman with the long hair that captures his attention. A woman, after his own heart, not looking for commitment. They agree to a night with no names and no regrets. But one night isn’t enough and as they become closer, more secrets abound between the two than not knowing each other’s names. Regina, at the worst possible time in her life, falls for the man of mystery. Their passion cannot be denied, but as their secrets are uncovered, is passion enough to carry them through? Subject matter is similar to what you would find in an R-rated movie. Please be advised, for 18+ readers.
As an Award Winning and International Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and Kobo Best Selling Author, I have always been an avid reader. I joke that I "cut my romance teeth" on the old historical romance books. I’ve written as a hobby for over 30 years. In 2014, I finally gave in to the characters in my head pleading for their story to be told. Thus, Emma's Home was created.
My first novel, Emma's Home became an Amazon Best Seller in 3 categories within the first month of publishing. Its success was followed by the rest of the Fairfield Series and then led into the Love's Series. From there I have continued with the romantic suspense Alvarez Security Series and now the Saints Protection & Investigation Series.
My books are filled with sweet romance and hot sex; mystery, suspense, real life characters and situations. My heroes are alphas, take charge men who love the strong, independent women they fall in love with. I worked as a counselor in a high school and have been involved in education for the past 30 years. I recently retired and now can spend more time devoted to my writing.
I have been married to a wonderfully patient man for 35 years and have 2 adult, very supportive daughters. When writing, my dog or one of my cats will usually be found in my lap!
I loved Cael (a Heroes at Heart story). The author really took me in a new direction. The story was so emotional.
Family is most important to Cael and he is trying to be present and helpful when his sister Kathy and her husband are stretched thin trying to care for a sick child.
“I just think we’re a lot like the ducks. You know, we see other people and they are so calm on the outside, but we don’t really know what they have going on inside. Many of them might be paddling like crazy.”
Cael feels like he doesn’t have enough of himself left to give to anyone else or to invest in a relationship. He meets a beautiful stranger and a one night stand ends up lasting a week. No names are exchanged but Red and Titan find themselves in deeper than expected. After their week, Regina rushes off just leaving a note.
“Sometimes, plans change. Sometimes, it’s better to just love, even when there’s no chance to have love in return.”
Titan & Red’s swoony, romantic story helped soften the painful emotions brought up by Cael’s niece Cindy’s illness. Cael is an amazing story with a hero who has so much more to give than he ever realizes! -5 Stars!-
I loved Cael! He's so sweet and when we went through the prologue about him holding on to his teddy bear so darn cute. Cael grew up without his mom or dad and was too young to live with his older sister but lucky was placed in a home with a sweet lady and later made brothers with the boys living there. Now growing up he is all about his friends and family until his precious niece becomes ill. This rocks his family's life, so he does what he needs to do and steps up to take some burden. The one time he isn't allowed in the hospital to put his niece at risk he meets women not just any women, someone, he sees himself sharing his life with. They agree to no names just one night but one night turns into two into weeks. Regina is also going through a hard time in her life and the night she meets Cael shes able to let loose unfortunately things turn bad. With his niece getting sicker Cael confesses that he can't focus on her and his family so in the middle of the night she leaves. Them being together is so cute and they really connect but them apart hurts them even more than they expected. I liked her, they mysterious in the beginning kept me on edge and the selfless act she did make me LOVE her even more. These two reunite and make it work but like any relationship, they have obstacles they need to get over and who better than Cael to be right by your side. This story especially touched my heart glad I was able to volunteer to read this story for my honest opinion.
What was suppose to be a one night stand, a sick child, a wrong assumption and a secret all put together makes a great story by one of my favorite authors Maryann Jordan. Cael a good man who holds family close, when life gets to be to much his brothers convince him he needs a night out to forget for a night. Regina’s life has taken a turn out for a night to forget, one night turns into much more. I loved their journey even the bumps in the road.
Cael is devoted to his family, including his biological sister and her family, and his foster brothers and mother. He has a one-night stand with Regina, which turns into more, until a misunderstanding drives them apart. Cael is kind of a jerk at this point, assuming Regina is doing something wrong when in reality she is not. However, the rest of the book is very good, and I love the interactions between all of the characters.
Ok I really hate to give this only three stars mainly because it was a very well written book! But it's not my type of book! Why because it was so freaking sad!! Like almost the whole book!! I understand it focused on some touching subjects but usually you talk about them and move on?! The whole book was about it!! I mean the whole thing! Like I said it's very well written of course I love maryanns work! But I always stay away from sad books, I feel them for days!! If you like tearjerkers this one's for you!! I did receive a copy of this book in exchange for my honest opinion, and if course I'm being honest! I definitely recommend this book if you wanna snuggle up with a box of tissues lol it definitely had happy moments obviously but to me more sad than happy?! Thank you Maryann Jordan for sharing this book with me! I always appreciate your words! Please next time can we get a happy one?! Lol
This book about Cael and Regina still has me in tears. This book pulled me in from the beginning and never let go of my heart. This book was filled with secrets, love, emotion and well Ms. Ethel's wonderful advice. Add in many wonderful quotes and well tears too.
Ceal is a gentle giant who loves his sister and her family and his "brothers". Miss Ethel raised him to be a good man, well rounded, educated and flawed, no one is perfect. She brings to live this gentle giant and his struggles with family and illness. He is not perfect and can be cruel but that is what makes him realistic. He isn't perfect and he makes mistakes but like all of Ms. Ethel's boys he vows to fix his mistakes. He takes responsibility for being a jerk and makes no excuses.
Regina is a wonderful woman who meets Cael one night in a bar. She wants to have fun with no regrets because life has thrown her a curve ball and she wants to just have one night of normalcy. She gets that night but it turns into more. She has such strength and she makes a decision that stuns him and then makes a sacrifice that is incredible. She too though is flawed and it makes her real as well.
Ms. Jordan tells a story of love, loss, sacrifice, pain, forgiveness and survival. I felt for these characters and cried for them. It's as if I was sitting on the sidelines watching their story unfold. Cheering for them at times, laughing with them, crying with them, all the while trying to keep in mind that these aren't real people but what they are dealing with is.
I loved this quote from this story and it so fits for Cael and Regina. Miss Ethel says "Fairytales tell us that evil can be beaten and the happily ever after can come true." We should all have a little of Miss Ethel inside of us.
This is book 3 in the Heroes At Heart series and can be read as a stand alone although the others are just as good and I highly recommend reading them so you get a more complete understand of the characters history and the relationships between him and his family. This one is about Cael (Titan) and Regina (Red). Cael is out for a night just trying to forget what he was just told about his niece when he meets Regina who is also out for the night just trying to forget what is about to come in her life. Neither are looking for more than a night and certainly aren't expecting the attraction to be as intense as it is. Because of this they decide to spend more time together, pushing the time limit further each time they are together. Never knowing just how intense their lives will be not only apart but together. And neither truly understanding how much the other will come to mean to them.
I absolutely loved this book! Let me warn you now though, bring your tissues because you will need them!! Cael is dealing with the heartbreak of thinking of losing his niece and everything she will have to fight through just to survive. Regina has her own struggles and fight to deal with. And when you find out what that is, let me tell you. I cried. This book will hit some people very close to home, especially if you have ever lost someone. But to know that they have someone to stand by their side and to love them no matter what is something that made me absolutely love this book! Once I started I couldn't put it down and I didn't want it to end. Excellent read!
You know that feeling you got when you read fairy tales as a little girl..the beautiful princess and handsome prince...they meet, fall in love, then some evil force tries to come between them, but love always wins in the end. I know in this day and age we as women don't want to admit it, but deep down we are all those little girls who believe in that type of love on some level. I do I'm not afraid to admit. I'm a sucker for a happy ending. When Maryann announced in her reader group she was writing the Heroes at Heart series and they would be plays off of fairytales I wasn't really sure...because I am a hard core Saint's fan lol, but i truly love all her books...but Jack he's my man...anyhow I've been reading the Heroes series and I do love them, but nothing prepared me for Cael. I was absolutely blown away by this book. Cael and Regina meet at a time in both of their lives when they just need to forget and enjoy a little peace. What starts out as a one night stand becomes two souls that long for one another one night turns into days. Cael's niece is fighting for her life and he makes a decision that he cant carry on and give his family the attention they need... he immediately regrets his decision, but is it too late. Regina makes a beautiful sacrifice for Cael's niece....but she is fighting her own battle as well....this story had me in tears...it is beautifully written and I must say Cael has kicked Jack out of his number 1 spot in my heart. You are going to love this book!
Maryann Jordan has done it again! Cael is an amazing book that will stay with me for a long time!
Every fairy tale comes with a happily ever after; but there is sadness and drama and a lesson to be learned. Maryann Jordan, once again, delivers an amazing and heart warming tale of love and the struggle to find ourselves.
I hated for this book to end. I laughed and I cried ugly tears for Regina and Cael. Self sacrifice was never better exhibited than in this beautiful tale!
From the first meeting of Cael "Titan" and Regina "Red", there's a secret lurking in the background. It hooked me immediately and I wanted to know the secret. We all have to be honest and admit that occasionally, the intrigue is too much. I wanted to read the ending and see what the big secret was, but I know that the way Maryann weaves her tales, I would hate myself for missing the shock of the twists thrown into Cael and Regina's life. I withstood the temptation and read on, knowing that I would eventually get my answers. I had all kind of scenarios built up in my head, but the truth stunned me! I'm so glad I didn't skip ahead. JUST WOW!!!
I wish I could give this one ten stars! This book deserves it!
I absolutely adored this book the storyline was quiet beautiful, Tissues occasionally required. I loved this book it was written beautifully and was easy to follow. I found that this is the quality you expect of this author. I love how she can write something diffent but stay true to her style of stories and the quality, you are never disappointed when you buy one of her books.
Unconventional beginning, heartbreaking moments and soul warming love. Cael and Regina are such beautiful charecters who will touch your soul and leave you with a warm spot in your heart just for them, I honestly didn't see where we were going on this journey together reading this book but I knew it was going to be a beautiful journey. I love the look into past charecters and seeing the love they all share for each other.
If you love reading about love so beautiful and strong and finding out if they can weather the storm, this book will definitely touch your heart. Definitely worth a read and see the beauty that the written word can share with us it is like leaving tiny footprints on our soul. I would absolutely recommend this author and book to anyone that loves and epic story. Happy Reading ♡
Both searching for something to take their minds off their stressful lives, Cael and Regina agree to a one night stand, no names or numbers. But will one night be enough? One night turns into a weekend, which turns into a week. While they've both suffered unimaginable loss in their lives, they are good people with loving family support. But they hold so many secrets that could lead to relationship destruction. Through various misunderstandings, Red leaves Titan with no way to find her. When he FINALLY gets his act together, he finds out that her secrets can once again separate them--forever.
While I generally LOVE all Maryann Jordan's books, this one was not as expected. I don't like to cry throughout a love story, but this novel will have you reaching for Kleenex non-stop! It also dragged a bit in the middle before getting to the heart of the story. That being said, I did enjoy all the fairy tale/Disney references. I thought Cael was extremely kind and loving with his niece. I also liked that a "bump" in their relationship, didn't scare Cael away. Relationships are hard work and that is seen in this story. I read a gifted copy and all opinions stated are my own.
Grab your tissues now, you will definitely need them.
Cael's niece Cindy is fighting lymphoma, so much for a little girl. He visits everyday, reading to her until she falls asleep. This gives his sister Kathy and her husband Tom, time to get a meal together.
When a flu outbreak hits, he's unable to visit, not wanting to go home, he finds himself going not to Grimm's but somewhere he won't be recognized.
Regina's hair calls to him, the colors as described brings to mind a sunset. Their initial interaction was fun and a favorite scene.
What starts as one night, no names, quickly become more. A weekend followed by a week of meeting up after work.
When she disappears after meeting Cindy, Cael has no idea why. They haven't revealed their true names so he finds himself at a loss. So many twists and turns to get these two where they need to be.
Miss Ethel, the brothers by choice, the family, a sacrifice and more blend into a heartrending story of faith, hope and love with a sizzling attraction, that is loosely based on the story of Rapunzel.
Maryann Jordan has written another amazing book, but be prepared this book will have you reaching for your tissues. Cael was an amazing book that will grab you from the start and not let go until the end. Can you imagine meeting someone at the worst possible time in your life? That is what happens to our two main characters. After dealing with some family issues, Cael takes the night off and heads to a bar, other than Grimm's. There he meets the amazing Regina and from there life takes them on quite the ride. After spending time together, Cael walks away due to all the pressures he is facing. Eventually he wises up but, being a man, meets up with Regina and makes some misconceptions. He eventually wises up and from there we continue their journey to happily ever after, with a big obstacle in their way. Thank you Maryann for this exceptionally, beautiful story. This story touched me in so many ways! I received an authors copy and I left an honest review!
WOW! This story was definitely a roller coaster of emotions throughout the story of Cael and Regina. It was heartbreaking to read Cael's niece had cancer and how he was dealing with that illness. He meets Regina at a bar and sparks fly between the two. They give each other a week but Regina hears what Cael says and makes the hard decision to leave. Cael is saddened when she leaves but decides to find her only to find - in his mind - that she cheated on a boyfriend with him, not realizing that he was her brother. He practically groves for her forgiveness and Regina decides to give him a second chance. Regina neglected to tell Cael that she was a cancer survivor but her cancer returns and they fight it together. Once Regina beats the cancer the second time around, these two finally find their happily ever after. FANTASTIC job Maryann! I would recommend this book.
"Cael", third in the 'Heroes at Heart' series, marks a change of mood. While it is a romance there is also a thread of sadness running through it. Cael's young niece has been diagnosed with cancer and he's devastated. One night, hoping to cheer himself up, he visits a bar and is immediately attracted to a beautiful young woman. At six foot seven he's a giant and she has a mane of red hair - they decide on a one-night stand using the names Titan and Red. A night becomes a weekend, the weekend becomes a week and, then, she walks away. They've never advanced beyond their nickname so, when Cael decides to track her down, it turns out to be surprisingly easy. There's a lot more sex in "Cael" than in the previous two books and it depends too much on misunderstandings and things said, overheard, or unsaid. It is a modern day reworking of Rapunzel and it is very nicely done. It's the weakest in the series so far but it is still a good read. 3.5 Stars, brought down to 3 Stars.
I loved this latest installment of the Heroes at Heart series! This is the story of Cael and Regina. Cael wants a night out to forget his troubles and at a bar he meets Regina. It was only supposed to be for a night but they both couldn't deny the intense attraction and they kept pushing the timeline further and further. They didn't bargain on needing each other as much as they did.....or realizing how much they mean to each other in such a short time. Their story was so sweet and sad at moments. I definitely recommend having some tissues nearby! I was hooked from beginning to end and hated to see their story end. I laughed, cried, swooned, and fanned myself during the hot sexy times. It was such a great story and I would recommend their story to all. I can't wait until the next book in the series....well done!!!!
Another great read from MaryAnn. Cael, another one of Miss Ethel’s boys. You have to admire Miss Ethel and her boys she has fostered long term. Each one has great family values and call each other brother. Cael decides he needs a one night stand, no names so no regrets but 1 night is not enough when he meets Red or Regina. Cael has a married sister and young niece who they discover has cancer. Cael spends lot of time at hospital with his niece meeting Regina at a hotel after. One night he gets caught up at hospital and misses Red at the hotel. He now has to find her and tell her she means a lot more to him but he doesn’t know her name or anything bout her so in between hospital visits and his job he sets out to find Red. I couldn’t put it down and can’t wait to read next book bout one of Miss Ethel’s boys

Once again, Ms. Jordan gives us a story that will touch your hearts. This story belongs to Cael, one of the boys taken in by foster Mom, Miss Ethel. A woman with a big heart and whose “boys” are now all grown and honorable men. Regina “Red” is the woman he meets in a bar with the intension of having a one night stand and staying in anonymity. At the beginning it took me a while to get into the book , but once I did, it flowed beautifully. The story deals with some heartbreaking difficult subjects , all viable in real life. Because of the author’s real life subjects, her books are always touching and heartwarming. Kudos for another winner in this series. I voluntarily read this book. The opinions expressed are solely my own.
MaryAnn Jordan wrote an amazing series and this book is the third one in the series. I loved Zander and Rafe, and now I love Cael! This book is emotional because it deals with the C word (Cancer). It really touched me because cancer has been in my family in the past a lot. Cael and Regina are great together and the chemistry between them is awesome! It's such a romantic and emotional story. Of course there was some tension, which was intriguing! Miss Ethel raised her "boys" right and I can't wait to read the next book in this series. I definitely recommend it to everyone who loves a good romance with some suspense thrown in.
What an emotional story! I loved it. From the first page to the last this book gripped me. Cael was the epitome of a sweetheart. From his early days to the present, he became a protector. Regina and him meet at a time when emotions are running high and neither knows the turmoil the other is facing. Despite this they connect on a deeper level, but through misunderstandings and circumstance they part but love doesn’t quit and they work through their problems together, coming out stronger. Throw in the rest of the guys and girls , Miss Ethel too and a spunky little girl you have the recipe for an amazing love story. I absolutely love this book. Highly recommend this book and series
This Heroes at the Heart series is some of Ms. Jordan's best writing. I have come to love her alpha males and strong women, but this is a whole different thing. We still have alpha men and strong women, but the stories are a lot less suspense and so much more emotion. Each story gets better than the last and they have all been exceptional!
Cael and Regina's story was heartfelt on so many levels. I knew what was coming and yet I could steel my emotions for the hurt I know was coming. This book was packed with emotions and heart and I ate up every minute of it. Ms. Ethel's boys are some of the best heroes around and I can't wait to jump into the next book in this series.
Another great add to the series. Cael and Regina's story might be my favorite so far. Cael is all about family and when his sister and niece need him, he doesn't stop to think over it he's there 100%. Regina is not ready for anything more serious then a one-night, so strings hookup, but life is full of surprises. Loved seeing this new series grown with each book, this story was to me about life surprising you and when you don't think you're ready for something you actually might be.....for the right person. This has emotional moments, sweet romance and a sexy connection they couldn't walk away from. Can't wait for the next. I voluntarily reviewed an 'Advance Author’s Copy' of this book.
Cael and Regina started out as benefits with no names, but it quickly became so much more for both of them. Their time together came to an end, and Regina left without knowing that Cael really did want something more. Cael finds Regina, but misunderstandings get in the way, and they believe it’s truly over. Cael’s foster brothers give him the encouragement he needs to find her again and apologize and give them a real chance. The path is not easy, but, anything worth having, is worth working for. This is my favorite in this series, so far. I look forward to reading many more in this series!
Strong alpha male with heart of gold finds his perfect woman and doesn't even know her name. Cael and Regina are perfectly matched in more ways than they can even imagine. Maryann Jordan has written the perfect story of family, love, and sacrifice. This book touched my soul as a cancer survivor myself it brought back the highs and lows and how important family is to recovery. This series Heroes at Heart is a great addition to Jordan's body of work as these characters are so real. Loved the Disney princess tie in and the quotes were so perfect. If you have not read Maryann Jordan you are missing one of the best!
I really enjoyed the Story of Cael. his story really touched my heart because I have two cousins that have Cystic Fibrosis. So this Story made me cry and was very anxious to find out how it was going to transpire through out the story. I was so delighted the way it went it was really uplifting to know that someone care care about another person that much to spend the energy to find out what they are going through and stick by them no matter what. Her selfless act to cut her air and send it to his niece when it was originally meant for her was amazing that she felt it was more important the his niece to have it instead. Loved the book and can not wait for the next book.
A different type of danger happens here. Cancer is a scary thing and Cael's young niece has had a very bad time. However, this difficult time leads Cael to the best thing that happens to him in his life...
This series is full of emotion and honest talk. The young men who started out so alone have found maturity, health and wealth. One by one, they are each becoming business owners, CEO's in their town. This is gaining them the respect they may not have had earlier. Their Miss Ethel is self-effacing but she is responsible for much of what they each become. I can't wait for the rest of the series.
If you want an emotional grab from the very first page then you have to read Cael. It calls for Kleenex to be near through out the book. Cael and Regina meet. Agree to no names. Have a good time and Cael wants more. This is a story of love coming when you least expect it and how can it survive when tragedy hits. Maryann Jordan has a way of creating emotions that grip your heart and makes it so real you feel as if they are happening to you. One of the best I have read in this series, Heroes at Heart.
Cael and Regina's story was absolutely beautiful. I truly enjoyed this book. I am a huge fan of Maryann Jordon's book and this is certainly no exception. This series is a bit different from her others but I absolutely love it. They are everyday people with real life issues. I love the way she weaves the classic fairy tales into each of the books in this series. Make sure you have tissues near by because this one will bring the waterworks! It was a great read! Enjoy!
First, there was Zander then Rafe, and now we have Cael and I love them all. This book was more emotional for me because it deals with Cancer which in one way or another we have all had to deal with. Cael and Regina are amazing together and the chemistry between them is explosive. This is a story of love coming when you least expect it. When things go bad will they be able to survive together? This book will keep you going from the first page to the last. Oh, make sure you have a box of tissues on hand too.
