Hurndell.

A small village in the middle of the High Peak. The ideal place for holiday makers because of its old-fashioned look and the amazing, picturesque Barrington Reservoir.

Now everyone that comes into contact with the compromised water has their life taken from them and replaced by the invader. They become shambling, mindless zombies that try and spread the Black Rock as far as it will go.

June Dobson is a retired psychic, dogged by the dementia that is robbing her of her senses, she resides in the SunnyBank nursing home and she is the only one that saw the Black Rock arrive. Now the clouds sitting across June's mind are beginning to clear. The thing in the water is reaching out to her and her gift begins to grow again. Soon, very soon, she will know what the Black Rock wants, what it needs, and the town of Hurndell will never be the same again. Nor will the rest of the human race, if the Black Rock has its way....

In the quiet village of Hurndell, the unsuspecting residents are about to have their lives shaken by an invasion that starts with a rock falling from the sky. We’re introduced to a range of colourful and real-life characters that make up the village, only to feel the loss of each of them as we follow the trail of fatalities, each one learning too late the cause of their demise. What I love most about Mr O’Gorman’s books are the way he seamlessly blends one scene after the other in a style that is so readable it keeps me turning the page. I won’t spoil the ending, all I can say is boy, I did not see that coming!

Just when you thought it was safe to go back into the water...Brian O'Gorman writes another horror story! The residents of Hurndell Village live in a picturesque part of the country with a reservoir that brings in the tourists and where they can go to relax. Until the day a mysterious rock falls out of the sky and lands in the water.

The author brings his unique mix of ordinary, real-life characters and gory events to this book, creating yet another page-turner that will keep you on the edge of your seat. Just as you get to know a character and like (or hate) them, the inevitable happens. As I've said before, Brian's writing reminds of Stephen King, in the way he creates characters and situations that anyone can relate to.

I enjoyed reading this book and I particularly liked the twist at the end, I definitely didn't see that coming! And at least there weren't any spiders in this one!

A unique story with a surprising twist

Horror isn't a genre I've read much and the ones I have have been Stephen king. I found the characters fun, quirky, some quite serious and some you love to hate. A beautiful idedilic sleepy village has it's peaceful existence shattered in the most bizarre and grotesque way. Zombie themes aren't something I've read before but have seen on film. This is a very different take on the genre. I loved the psychic element and really enjoyed the opening which was also surprising. I would actually like to see a prequel to this.

Uncaged Book Reviews:

It's In the Water:
I would say this short story would make a good TV show or movie plus it’s got bucket loads of dark humor.

I look forward to being able to drink water safely without panic. Reviewed by Jennifer

Another epic story

Yet again a quick but fulfilling read. Brian's work is brilliantly composed and brings a sense of locality into the read.
