When a jewelry shop in the Old Market is robbed, and an expensive jeweled egg is stolen, it seems someone might be out to ruin Easter. For pie shop owner Bertha Hannah, however, she has very little time to think about crime as she is preparing for the annual city Easter Egg Hunt at the community gardens. Businesses and churches from all over the city are contributing to the event, and Bert has a new pie recipe planned for the day. Festivities are brought to a screeching halt, however, when a body is found in the bushes. Is this new death connected to the egg robbery? When the finger of accusation seems to be pointed in the direction of a friend, Bert knows it is up to her to solve this mystery before the Easter Bunny hops away with all the clues.
I was given a copy of this book in return for an honest review. This series has really gotten better over time. The characters are great and the story is always unique. Add some pie to this to sweeten the pot. Bert has really got some spunk and ofterntimes ignores danger to get to the bottom of things. I love how fiercely loyol she is to those she believes in, this time Gabriel. She can't stand by and let an innocent person take the blame. She has really warmed up to the detective on the case but always seems to still get involved. This has to be one of my favorite books in the series. I am anxious for the next book.
Another great addition to this series. I love Bert’s no nonsense style but she’s a softy underneath. The storyline kept me turning pages, just couldn’t put it down.
The town is having an Easter parade, picnic, and Easter egg hunt. Right down the block the jewelry store is a crime scene - a burglary and a murder. The picnic and egg hunt will go on but then Bert discovers another body. She has to investigate since a young man she considers like a son is accused.
I'm always excited when a new book in this series is released! It's my favorite Carolyn Q Hunter series. Bert and friends are starting to feel like family to me and in this new book there were several new characters. Fast paced with a nice tight storyline, a totally enjoyable book!
"Killer Easter Pie (Pies and Pages Cozy Mysteries #9)" by Carolyn Q Hunter is a little bit Easter themed. It starts are more Easter themed then tapers off. We get talk of Easter pie, and Easter parade that gets canceled because of a break in/homicide along the parade route and then an Easter egg hunt that is interrupted by another homicide. Luckily, no kids find either crime.
I had a couple of suspects in mind. However, my main one ended up being linked to the real culprit. So, kinda had the motive right but not who specifically had that motive.
Another great book and storyline. Bert cannot help herself getting caught up in a good murder or two. Maybe eventually her and Harry will finally make a go of it. Cannot wait to are what happens next.
Love this series! The characters are great and fun to see evolve through the books.
After a robbery before the town Easter party a body is found and Bert can't help but be drawn into the mystery. There is never a dull moment with Bert and Carla.
This Caroline Q Hunter series keeps getting better and better. Read in one sitting. Could not put it down. Has a surprise ending for one of regular characters which I did not see coming.
A jewelry store has been robbed an a security man murdered during the theft. The only piece missing is a valuable jewel encrusted egg. Bert isn’t able to pay attention to the details. She is too busy preparing for the town Easter Egg Hunt. Bert has ew pie planned to unveil at the event. Everyone’s plans change in an instant when a body is discovered in the bushes the morning of the hunt. All too quickly fingers are pointed at a young man who Bert is very fond of. She decides it is up to her to find the killer before the wrong person is charged.
I love this series! I probably say this in each review, but it’s true. I love the characters. They are well developed and believable. The setting is heaven to a book lover. Who wouldn’t want to spend their day surrounded by books and pie? I highly recommend this series. Each book can stand alone, but the series is so good!
Bert and the residents of her small town are quickly getting ready for the Easter Egg Hunt at the community gardens when someone is found murdered at the jewelry store. When someone she knows is accused of the murder, it is Bert to the rescue. I really enjoyed the book.
