Raw by Simone Sowood is a very enjoyable read and I read this book in a few hours. It’s a love story between someone famous and someone not-famous, and I love those kind of stories. This book was funny, emotional, hot and unique.
Elsie works at a hotel. Her best friend wants to do a special photoshoot with her. They will do this in one of the rooms at the hotel where Elsie works. During the photoshoot, a man walks into the room. Elsie can’t believe that is happening, but she will help the man by arranging a new room. The man is Xander, a famous reality star. Xander is hiding at the hotel after being in a media storm. He immediately likes Elsie and he wants to spend more time with her. Elsie feels the same way and they will fall in love.
Elsie and Xander are great characters! Elsie is hardworking, friendly, sweet and loving. She’s attracted to Xander from the start, but she’s hiding something from him that could ruin their relationship. Xander is strong, caring, rich, kind and protective. He can’t believe what he has discovered and the situation he’s in at the moment. Xander feels comfortable with Elsie and he trusts her, and he has never felt that way before with a woman.

This book is a quick and fun read if you're looking for something to get you hot and bothered from the start.
It is well written and the characters are solid (even though they lack depth and background IMHO).
When I read romances I'm mostly looking for the feels - you know the ones: angst, hope, falling in love... unfortunately this book didn't deliver for me and the author's attempt at seriousness felt seriously out of place.
So this is a solid 2-star story for me apart from the fact that I totally respect the author for her choice to not turn my "previous spoiler" into non-excistance by a twist of fate, but instead stick with it to the end and provide a future not so HEA but more realistic.
3-stars from me for my first read by Simone Sowood and I hope I'll get to read more from her in the future.

This is a story where the famous man Xander is hiding from the paps after a scandal and accidentally walks in on Elsie on a photoshoot after a colleague sends him to the wrong room.
We get almost instant attraction, lust, hot sex, talk about the past and a diagnosis that may well end their fledgeling romance
Xander has a completely f**ked up family and its a wonder that he is as 'normal' as he is, Elsie is ok, but nothing really popped out with them as a couple.
Its a decent read, but not one i am likely to visit again any time soon.

Great Read. Xander is hiding from a sex scandal and meets Elsie when he stops at her hotel where she works. The chemistry is there between them and Xander can finally be himself. Interesting read but learning about Xander’s life was crazy. Xander & Elsie made me laugh and their ending was perfect. Enjoyable read & enjoyable characters.

When I recieved this story I didn't understand the title and then as I read this it was something so beautiful and expressive. From the very first word I read, to the last word and all the words between, this is one amazing story.
Simone Sowood, has given you all the emotions, the good and the bad. You will hopefully love this one as much as I did.
The characters are expressed in all emotions: happy, anger, pleasure, sad, disgust, fear, trust and acceptance, but mostly finding a love that surpasses all.

Raw by Simone Sowood a fulfilling four-star read. This is a new author to me but I’m sure it won’t be my last read. If you like a good insta romance then you can’t go wrong with this one, Xander and Elsie have immediate chemistry and I will be honest I did feel for Elsie on her first meeting, but we’ve all done crazy things, right? When a friend tells us it’s a good idea. I don’t want to give the game away, but this is a hot, sweet romance that you cant miss.

Simone Sowood has written an amazing story. The overreaching plot pertains to, Overcoming the Monster. Each of the main characters have a monster they must battle. The question the author poses to each of them...Can/will they do battle or tuck tail and run?
The protagonists are very well-developed. Elsie, Asst. Hotel Manager, and Xander, Reality TV Star and voted Sexiest Man Alive are an unlikely match for romance or anything really but the author does a good job of finding common ground for them. The supporting characters bring in the right amount of support and friction needed to keep the couple moving along literally and figuratively in the story. The antagonists, two of them Xander's father was only referred to in a narrative sense and was never an active participant. The other antagonist, Luna, the star of the reality tv show was a pot stirrer and was seen as also seen as a victim.
I read this book in one setting that's how engaged I became it's the story. I highly recommend this book for your reading pleasure and enjoyment.

Instalove is fun, if it works. And, in this one, it worked. I enjoyed the meet cute with Xander and Elsie, and I believed their attraction. Did I totally believe all of the things that happened and all of the events that unfolded? No, I didn't.
But, that isn't the point of books by Simone Sowood. You know you are going to enjoy the book, and that there will be instalove, and that the sex will be hot, and that there might be some things that stretch belief...but that it does work, that you like the characters and you enjoy the story.
There were a couple of serious undertones to the book, and they worked...they gave it some depth and also a direction outside of the relationship. I liked that element of it.
I enjoyed this title overall, and I recommend it.

Elsie and her friend Isabel are having boudoir pictures taking. Becca is having a special, two for one. While Becca is taking Elsie's picture, they hear the door open. I really enjoyed this story, it is a page turner. I had a hard time putting this book down. I just loved the way the charter get along and how they worked together to get things done, like with the drone. I received an ARC and have voluntarily left a review.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book and I am grateful that I voluntarily reviewed this book from the author. Elsie and Xander were funny and had so much chemistry. I liked their ability to be supportive and not wishy washy throughout the book with one another, but the insta-love was sort of unbelievable. Did I agree they could love one another? Yes, but the declaration was too quick. In hindsight it works very much, and the drama associated with the book was kind of par for the storyline.
Xander has lots too get over in this book, and for once the drama was false and the hero wasn't a douchecanoe like most hero's when drama arises. I liked his character a lot.
I hope you like this book as much as I did. I'd give it a 3.5/4, and I would read it again.

More Than Just A Love Story
An emotionally charged story will shatter the heart than mold it into a stronger and better one. The last thing Xander Whittman needs in the midst of a scandal is to find the one woman that can bring him to his knees. Voted sexist man alive, realty show playboy Xander is on the run when his borrowed car breaks down in Podunk nowhere on his way to a friends and is forced to stay in a small hotel without room service. Elsie Cushing, Assistant Manager at the Good Rest Inn, is in the middle of taking boudoir photos at work, which her best friend Isabel talked her into doing, when the door opens and a man's voice says "Sweet". Playboy, heir and reality TV star voted Sexiest Man Alive, Xander Whitman escapes a media shit storm in New York and checks into a hotel. Xander's day is brightened when he walks in on Elsie's photo shoot. Elsie joins the gorgeous Xander for a pizza dinner and they get to talking and she learns his TV girlfriend Luna isn't his girlfriend and is making up outrageous claims to get higher ratings. Xander thinks Elsie is a breath of fresh air and intends to hold onto her so when photos of Xander walking in on Elsie's boudoir photo shoot are leaked, Xander invites Elsie to go into hiding with him. Xander and Elsie have a lot of fun hiding out and start falling for each other, but when Elsie finds out she's got a serious health problem, she walks out on Xander and leaves him feeling raw. Is this the end for Elsie and Xander?

I received an Advance Reader Copy for RAW written by Simone Sowood and voluntarily reviewed this book. Never did Assistant Manager Elsie Cushing at the Good Rest Inn ever expect to meet someone famous, but when playboy, TV star, heir, and voted World’s Sexiest Man Alive Xander Whitman shows up hiding from the relentless paparazzi post a scandal breakout, she does her best to settle in her VIP guest. Including smuggling a pizza to him…then sharing it with him. Their chemistry goes off the charts then, and as Elsie gets to know a side to Xander he’s never shown to anyone, the non-famous & private side, the more she likes him. But he definitely was not a factor she had planned to have in her life.
Xander was almost knocked off his feet when he first sets eyes on Elsie. He couldn’t believe how he was able to feel and be so “normal” around her nor make sense of his now-out-of-control life. But now that he has had a taste, Xander was not ready to go back to his mess of a life…nor does he want to, now that he has Elsie in it.
I'm definitely looking forward to reading more stories from this author!

Elsie is the assistant manager at the Good Rest Inn and trying to work her way up the ladder and once her boss leaves, she may get her wish. She wants to open her own resort one day, but she has to deal with her health, first and foremost. Once she finally finds out what it is, she has stayed clear of men, relationships and even friendships to an extent. But in the middle of taking boudoir photos at work, in walks the hottest man alive, Xander. But will their chemistry and attraction convince Elsie that she might give him a chance to see where this can go?
Xander is tired of dealing with the media frenzy about the TV show, so he escapes and ends up in New Jersey, he needs to hide and relax away from the nonsense spreading about him. But will his sister set the record straight? But when he walks in on Elsie, he knows that he wants more than one night with her. She is a real person, not fake like his family and friends. She brings reality with her and a new outlook on life for him. But can Elsie get over herself to see that Xander wants her and only her?
This is a very raw, full of funny scenes, drama, love, lust, romance and so much more. Definitely recommend this book! I received an ARC of this book from the author.

Elsie and Xander meet in a very unusual way which leads into a very unusual relationship. Xander is a Reality TV Star and known as the Sexiest Man Alive. Elsie is anything but famous, working as a assistant manager in the hotel that Xander happens to end up in after his car breaks down. When Xander walks in on Elsie posing for boudoir photos, he can't believe his luck. Running away from a sex scandal, Xander needs a place to camp out and what better place than where the assistant manger of the hotel looks like Elsie. Elsie can't believe that Xander is at her hotel and interested in spending time with her. Xander is the perfect distraction from her health issues. However, what Elsie doesn't expect is falling head over heals for this extraordinary man and vise versa. When Elsie realizes that her future is dim, she knows that Xander deserves more. But how can you leave the one good thing in your life that makes you believe in love? " Raw " is right!
I mean talk about dumping the whole bucket of emotions on someone in one sitting! This ice bath of despair and tear producing subject matter had me from the first page! The humorous banter between the could not be more different but perfect for each other protagonists Xander and Elsie. Coupled with the hotter than Hades heat levels that seem to ignite the minute they're around one another break up the heart wreckage and make for one unique and beautifully written story that broke my heart, and put it back together again!
**While my "issues" do not match Elsie, I reacted similarly eight years ago, watching her story unfold at that point gave me goosebumps, butterflies all while I curled up in my chair chewing on my thumbnail, reading as fast as humanly possible curious to see what her outcome would be! ....... so many tissues..... GAH. I LOVED EVERY MINUTE OF IT!
This fun, fast and furiously sexy soul searching romance is in my humble opinion a must read!

Xander is a reality star and is in a bit of a scandal so to get away from everything he goes to The Good Rest Inn. Elsie is the assistant manager at the inn and at first she has no clue who Xander is and treats him like any other customer. Its no long after meeting him that she discovers who he is. Xander is drawn to Elsie and wants something with her but with everything going on he doesn't know if he should. Then Elsie and him spend an evening having dinner and he talks to her about everything going on. However when photos of Elsie in a compromising way are leaked Xander steps in and offer her sanctuary. Can Xander and Elsie be involved together seriously with everything happening in his life?
This was an amazing story. The chemistry between Xander and Elsie is blazing hot. Once I started this I couldn't put it down. This is a very entertaining and well written story. I would recommend this to anyone that loves to lose themselves in a great book.

Xander and Elsie… I loved their fast paced and thrilling story!
Both characters felt very authentic and genuine while facing a media shitstorm of epic proportions.
It made me think about the pros and cons of modern day media presence in our daily lives once more...
About how small-time some people think, how they believe every written and narrated BS in some TV shows and even in some news programs...
About the often one-sided telling of stories without regarding the damage done to their reputation, all because of the satisfaction of sensationalism and the hunger for public attention, some fake fame and money…
Reading this novel made me feel raw inside, hurt for the protagonists and their fate and proud of their fight for a common future!
And there is no damage done with the sizzling hot passion between both protagonists that Ms. Sowood added to this amazing story!

I loved this book and loved how it hit on so many different issues but still kept it as a story I couldn’t put down! This is the first book that I have read by this author and I can not wait to start on some other ones.
Xander is a reality star and worlds sexiest man but he has a ton of problems following after him. He attempts to disappear for a while and ends up meeting the one women who changes everything he thought he knew about life.
Elsie is content with her life but hasn’t given up her dreams. She is gaining experience while waiting for some test results and never expected her life to be turned upside down by the super hot tv star.
Now both of them are running and hiding from reality while they try to navigate through the chaos thrown at them. Will they be able to live off love alone or will they be forced to lose everything to be free?
Seriously if you have not read this authors work before, this is an amazing place to start. You will certainly not be disappointed!

A fantastic story. I loved it! Elsie is an assistant manager at The Good Rest Inn. Xander is running from the paparazzi and his borrowed car breaks down near the Inn where Elsie works. Elsie and Isabel were doing a photo shoot in room 214. When Elsie was doing her photo shoot in a negligee, the door opened and a man is standing in the doorway staring at her. Everyone runs to the bathroom and leaves her there by herself. She tries to tell him she had that room rented herself but this guy said it was his. He finally agreed to let her have it when he saw the camera equipment. Elsie thinks she recognizes Xander but he introduces himself to her as Paul Newman. She knew that wasn't who he was. Xander orders pizza and asks Elsie to get it for him. He asked her to come to his room to eat some pizza. He finally came clean about who he was. Will Elsie go eat pizza with Xander? I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving my honest review.

I received a free copy of this book via Bookfunnel and am voluntarily leaving a review. Loved reading this book. Simone Sowood has written a winner of an emotional, funny, witty and romantic couple. Elsie met Xander at the inn where she worked. Xander was a famous celebrity and was hiding out. He was attracted to Elsie and she to him. Somehow she became embroiled in the scandal that Xander was running away from. Elsie was given a two week suspension for what happened at the inn with Xander. During those two weeks Elsie and Xander got to know each other and seriously bonded. They fell in love. There was one thing that Elsie did not share with Xander and that was her medical condition. She did not want anyone to be saddled with her burden. An excellent read. The story was emotional with just enough drama to keep you interested. Also I appreciated that Xander could see that Elsie was the real deal. What you see is what you get. I highly recommend this book.

I really enjoyed this story. Xander and Elsie were really sweet characters. Xander is a manwhore but it is not rubbed in our faces. Elsie is a sweet woman who has had a tough time as of late. I really related to her because I know what it is like to go through years of doctors appointments and tests. It is frustrating and heartbreaking. This is an Insta lust, Insta love kind of story. Xander and Elsie had great chemistry together and the sex scenes were hot! The couple was adorable together. Luna was a bit of a pill but I understand Xander's reasons for wanting to protect her. This was a good, sweet and sexy read. Very enjoyable. The only part I didn't like was when they trespassed on a friend of a friend's property. It was not cool to help themselves to their food and wine. But that is just me talking, lol.

There is something to be said about a plane jane girl that captures the heart and mind of a sexy man. I admit I’m a sucker for those kind of books. Xander and Elsie did not disappoint at all.
Xander is known as the very rich, sexy playboy that happens to be on a reality show with his now girlfriend. He flees to the hotel that Elise works at enters his room when he sees a picture of stunning beauty that rocked his world.
The chemistry is insta love and some may find it hard to believe in that kind of thing but hey, it’s a book. We learn about the childhood of Xander and understands him even more when the truth is told. Most would run the opposite direction after all that but there is something about him that Elise can’t tear away from. She has a secret of her own but not ready to share just yet.
It’s a crazy world wind of events, just sit back and enjoy the ride of Xander and Elise.

I can’t even begin to explain what this book put me through without giving away spoilers. I will suggest you keep tissues handy, because by the end I needed them. There is such a deep, rich story going on in this book that I am blown away by the places it takes us and the range of emotions it asks to experience. Elsie is a sweet, dedicated every-girl kind of woman, and for the most part she’s happy with her perfectly normal life. Xander is anything but ordinary. He’s the darling of the media and everything he does has been put out for public consumption. But neither of them have lives as simple as those descriptions suggest. And this book is all about what happens when those lives intersect and what’s become their ordinary becomes something extraordinary.

I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book. This book had me hooked from the very beginning. Elsie and Xander were great. There was no mistaking the chemistry from the start. This book was funny at times. The banter between the two was great. Yes, Xander has secrets and is trying to keep from being discovered. Elsie has things she is trying to deal with as well. These two seem like an unlikely pair. A reality TV star and sexiest man of the year and a woman who works as an assistant manager at a hotel trying to move up in the company. Somehow it works though. This is a well written book and I really enjoyed it. Elsie's friend Isabel was great. This is just an all around great read. I have read several of Ms Sowood's book and I count this one as one of the top on my list. Great HEA! A definite must read.

Great well written story. I loved the first chapters, how the main characters meet and how they act. I liked the way they have to open to be themself and be accepted by the other, over the lust.

She betrayed him by telling lies about his sexual life to the media, even if they never had sex or kissed. Xander escapes and hides in an hotel, but when he opens his door, he finds Elsie who was doing a shooting in lingerie for fun. Their attraction is immediate, but she’s scared of his celebrity and the paparazzi, and he wants to meets real people he can trust with his strange and horrible past.He needs to get out of the fake reality he lives in. So, they have to discover each other and help each other.

This story has humour, betrayal, great plot and hilarious at times characters, Xander is a Reality TV Star and called the Sexiest Man Alive needing an escape and somewhere to hide. Elsie likes working as a assistant manager hoping to manage one herself, Xander ends up in her hotel after his car breaks down. Xander walks in on Elsie posing for boudoir photos after being given the key by her stand in, he can't believe his luck. Xander needs a place to camp out after a sex scandal leaked to the press and where better than here where the assistant manger is definitely to his liking. Elsie can't believe that he's at her hotel and actually wants to spend time with her and she is hiding her health problems from everyone. However they really don't expect to be falling head over heals for each other. There is so much more to the story and you won't be disappointed......
