Country Mouse #1

Country Mouse

Rate this book
Owen may be a bit of a country mouse, but he’s loving his vacation in London. After a long day playing tourist, he’s on the hunt for some cheap beer and a good burger. Instead he finds a man hunting him, an arrogant prick with only one thing on the brain: the kind of meat that doesn’t come on a bun.

Eighty-hour weeks at a trading desk don’t leave Malcolm Kavanagh much time for meaningful relationships. Besides, in his world, everything’s a competition—even sex. When his newest one-night-sub fails to show, Malcolm sets his sights on the pretty young Yank on the bar stool beside him.

Owen’s all for an adventure with a native, but he’s not the pushover Malcolm thinks he is, and Malcolm’s not as shallow as he tries to be. They both soon learn that nothing's too intimate to share with a stranger, and the strangest things happen when two people share the most important pieces of their hearts.

Country Mouse is the prequel to City Mouse and has been previously published.

Fabulous read, written by two amazing authors and had me  gripped from the start!

Country Mouse 2

City Mouse is being released on the 18th March… so I thought I had best get a wriggle on and read this one first, and with it being written by two authors I love, it really was no hardship! I loved both the MC’s, they were very believable characters that I actually cared about, brought to life and delivered by the amazing writing skills of Mr Voinov and Ms Lane, their words just flowed seamlessly combining their talent to bring us this little gem…

Whilst on holiday in London with his ex girlfriend who ditches him on a promise, Owen  finds himself in a dingy backstreet pub that has definitely seen better days. He catches the attention of a stranger, Malcolm Kavanvagh, totally out of place in his expensive suit with his air of authority, and a highflyer in the city if his appearance was anything to go by and an arrogant, cocky SOB if his personality were also under scrutiny! Malcolm was there to hook up with a sub, no niceties about it just someone to take what he had to offer and then go. There was nothing pleasant about Malcolm and when his sub failed to turn up, it was almost as though he looked at Owen, and thought “oh, you’ll do” Owen with nothing better planned and a little inquisitive as to where this was going decided to tag along, he was under no illusions that it was anything more than just a random pick up and Malcolm would just be his fuck buddy for the night.

Owen wonders if there isn't more to this obnoxious, brash and rude man, a side that he hasn’t perhaps allowed others to explore, did this big bad Dom really have a soft centre? was it all a persona? a vision he portrayed to keep up appearances, something that was expected of him in his high powered city job in the cut throat world of the financial sector. Owen wasn’t feeling it and neither was I and even though Owen liked his Kink, he was way too toppy to be a sub! The whole thing was confusing the hell out of me and I was actually getting scared wondering how these two great authors could possibly get these characters so wrong!

Ha… I should have more faith as the masters weaved their magical words over the pages and our two MC’s have a night of hot, smouldering smexy man loving, followed by a tourist trip around the sights of London, the whole dynamics of the relationship changed.

Owen is the son of a hippy Mother, who had always encouraged him to be open and honest, this gives him a maturity and vision far beyond his 23 years and he see’s past the facade of the big Bad Dom and his heart is warmed by the caring and considerate man hiding beneath. No longer do we see the arrogant, impersonal and clinical prat he was originally! Malcolm had found someone he cared about, and he wanted more from this boy with the free spirit and gentle nature and no longer wanted his lonely existence, consumed by work with no friends or social life to speak of... No, Owen had got under his skin and he wanted more!

When I started this book, Malcolm was a character that I really disliked, I mean he got on my very last nerve, I really wasn't feeling him at all, whereas Owen was just adorable. I didn’t quite see him as the Country Mouse though, because at times he definitely seemed the more worldly wise of the two. However it is a testament to the writing of these two authors that they managed to turn things around, so by the end I was totally smitten… which of course, was what they intended all along!?! Malcolm and Owen's relationship, whilst very hot, also flowed and they comfortably melded together in a perfect balance of what they felt, rather than the labels they were trying to emulate!

A fabulous read and a great collaboration… bring on the 18th March!

4.2 Stars - A touching gem! - A Yank on vacation, a British suit-guy, London, kink, strong feelings. - Romantic sweet and very hot.

Book #1

Yet another Aleksandr Voinov novella felt good. This time written with another good M/M writer, Amy Lane didn't do it less tempting.

What a surprise!!!
Country Mouse has that special something. What makes a story memorable and loved. A sweet touching gem. So glad I gave it a chance. ~ A good one!

A hot fling in London...

Owen a young college Yank is on vacation in London. After a long hard tourist day with a (girl) friend is the evening start to get interesting when a goodlooking man begin to 'hunt' him in a cheap pub. The well dressed man, in a dark office suit and shiny shoes, is what Owen first feel a very arrogant prick with only one thing on the brain: “the kind of meat that doesn't come on a bun”.
‘He tasted like gingermint and chocolate kulfi and something stronger and more powerful, something like want and need, and Owen drank him in and gave him back, dying for him in the subjective three hours it took to get to Malcolm's door.’

Malcolm Kavanagh is a hard working trading desk Londoner with more or less no time for meaningful relationships. Besides, in his world, everything's is one-night's and they shall be simple, hot, quick and soon to forget about. When his newest one-night-sub fails to show, Malcolm sets his sights on the pretty young American tourist.

Just when I started reading was I truly worried that this would prove to be (yet another) tough, hard and callous-erotic BDSM book. I really don't like when it gets too sexual (and sex-method) focused (kind of narrow-minded), and too little of a tender pink shimmering romance. This story never went that way even if it was a lot about sex. On the contrary.

Novella or not, I had just enough time to begin to love these two so nicely designed very different characters in quite few pages. We also get a pretty epic romance ending here but without a doubt do I feel a big "need" to read the sequel book (City Mouse) too.

***********************************************************

Country Mouse felt like a truly excellent full story in just around 80 pages. Sometimes is just a bit of something so much more.

I LIKE - ..and wish I was a 'Londoner'

A smartly written story about a pair of seeming misfits that quickly get to know one another during a weekend in London. Owen is "Yank", a 23 year old bisexual son of a hippie on a trip with his friend and ex-girlfriend Jenny, who meets Malcolm, a near thirty British trader and arrogant Dom in a seedy pub on Owen's first day in town. A self-described "country mouse", Owen is immediately intrigued by the man in a dirty pub drinking top shelf vodka, and when he's immediately hit on, ready to show that just because this man is rich and bossy and frankly incredibly hot doesn't mean he will just spread his legs and whimper for a flogging. Malcolm has been stood up by his regular appointment with his latest submissive and can't take his eyes off the cute Yank. But he's in for a surprise that not only surprises and delights him, but also comforts him in a strange way. Owen, if he admits to himself that he'll remember this one's name, is not going to take his shit. He might even lose control all together and find himself ass up and Owen taking all the power in their night together.

I honestly wasn't sure what to expect of these authors teaming up together, but I knew that it would be smart. The best thing about this story is that it is playful and intelligent. Not only is the dialogue witty but abundant and intelligent. Owen sees quite a bit for his young age. He's a wise soul and open for new experiences. So much that bothers Malcolm rolls right off of Owen's back. Malcolm is a bit of a self-fulfilling prophecy. His job required a certain type of personality and drive, which ended up making him over into the man he is today -- a bit of a crisis. Owen's soulful nature and easy companionship and their surprising sexual chemistry allow Malcolm to be vulnerable and admit that he isn't the man he wants everyone to think he is, that he isn't his job.

This is well worth a read and a re-read just because the characters are great and fun. As a romance, this rocks. The connection between Owen and Malcolm was off the charts with loads of chemistry. In the bedroom, out of the bedroom, I could see that each of these guys had something (or more than) to teach the other, and that they would compliment each other, so I really rooted for their happy ending.

Now, if these two would only see what a great pair they make and get back to writing together!

I'm a big fan of Aleksandr Voinov and happened to stumble upon this series that I hadn't read. I've read some Amy Lane, but not a ton. But I've liked what I've read.

This one was a quick read, and honestly I wasn't too sure I was going to like after the first few pages. I found Owen and Malcolm's entire interaction and meeting at the bar rather awkward.

And I'm glad it kind of strayed away from the whole dom/BDSM thing. Yes, there's a bit of spanking and some crop action but nothing too heavy. They definitely lit up the sheets otherwise. This one had some nice steam.

And I will say, they both really grew on me. I liked their banter and really felt their chemistry.

Jumping right in to the next book to see where things go.

London is my favourite city. Doing tourist shit in London was a great experience which I'd like to repeat. Probably not as great as Owen's, but we can't all be that lucky.

I loved everything about this story - the setting, the characters, the kinks(!), the sweetness, and the ending.
It's sodding perfect.

***** This delicious story opens up with cute, snarky banter at a crappy bar, with top shelf vodka, where the "country mouse" meets the "city mouse".
***** Younger, tall, in jeans and a hoodie, Owen, on a vacation to find adventure, sees well built, older, handsome, suit and tie, dimpled, stock trader Malcolm.

flesh to flesh...

This is a set of the two novellas, so I'll be reviewing them together. Wonderfully, talented writing by Amy Lane and Alexandr Voinov is sure to please you. Major plus with the super sexy times with these two. Malcolm wants a quickie, but Owen is worth more than that. They like each other right away, and Owen sees through the veneer to appreciate the real Malcolm.
The relationship begins immediately, with tours of historic England, hot sex, Owens cooking, and Malcolm's walls coming down. Amazing characters are what make this story so real and alive. The writing flows along, with deep descriptions of London, the way of life, the people, the melding of two souls.
I loved it !! Highly recommended. ENJOY !!!

An odd mixture of sweet-hearted kink and fish-out-of-water romance. Both characters were delightful company, and it's a pleasure to know we will see them again in the upcoming sequel.

The bar scenes, in particular, were charming and funny.

Neither of these authors are in my top-favorite list. Amy Lane's stories are hits and misses (I DNF'ed some of them). While the only Aleks Voinov's story that I can read was Transit. I just don't have immediate chemistry with their writing style. So, I'm not one actually jumping enthusiastically for this one.

Personally, I do love the ending part. It's cute to see the big bad Dom, Malcolm, 'succumbs' to the country mouse, Owen. How he finds himself out of his element. Such classic Harlequin romance, yes?

However, I skim majority of the sex scenes. Not particularly in the mood for D/s trope, though few paragraphs of the sex that catch my eyes are quite hot. I mainly focus on their interaction outside the bedroom. Unfortunately, that happens sort of in the second part, and I already skim the pages...

It's an okay read, but not one that makes me emotionally care for the characters *shrugs*.

So some crazy shit happened! Amy Lane and Aleks Voinov wrote a book together. I know what you’re thinking ‘OMFG! Am I gonna die of angst? Will someone be dying, getting raped? Will I be crying; will I throw my e-reader?’ The answer is no folks, you will be freaking smiling and losing your pants all over the place. I can see your shocked faces, the WTF faces, of are we talking about the same Amy Lane and Mr Voinov. It’s them alright, and it comes through in the writing.

Owen is vacationing in Europe, and currently checking out the sites London has to offer. His tour guide, also his ex-girlfriend hooked up with an old flame and Owen has to entertain himself in a city he doesn’t know. He finds himself in a seedy bar, with questionable looking beverages and drinking glasses. Owen says what the heck, might as well just kick it, until the over confident man approaches him and offers him a drink. Owen is unsure if he’s feeling the sexy stranger, but what the hell he’s on vacation.

Malcolm has just been stood up by his sub, when he spots the ‘Yank’ and he’s just looking to get off. He thinks he can top the crap out of Owen cus he has that look, but clearly Malcolm called this one wrong. Owen is so much more than he anticipated, and is bringing out a side in him that he prefers to keep hidden.

The guys hook up, and let me just say hells never been hotter, or sugar any sweeter. Malcolm and Owen pull out surprises and you can see what character belonged to which author. It’s surprising that the author, who gave us Talker, presented us Owen. Or the man who wrote Silvio blessed us with Malcolm. Though not the same level of memorability, but fuck they are just so much fun. I am talking about going all Julie Andrews with “the hills are alive with the sound of music” birds chirping and just feeling so good you can’t help but smiling.

I have to say that Malcolm is my fave because he pretends to be all toppy and ‘I am an island’ but he just wants to be lurved. Plus, I love a man in glasses it's my very own Krytonite. Owen is so cute, and he might be country but he throws down like a big city boy. We can’t forget that London sets the tone for these guys to fall for each other. The description of all that awesome would have me salivating over my sexy tour guide. And they say Paris is the city of love, obviously they never toured the streets of London.

Overall, I really enjoyed Country Mouse! It made me smile, and lose my pants all in the same bloody paragraph. Owen and Malcolm truly are a delight and I would love to read about them again.

Real Talk: I am just loving this dynamic duo and I hope they have something for us in the future. If they decide to write the angst, and bring the sad and tortured. I am not worried, I have a defibrillator on hand and I’m not afraid to use it.

Lane and Voinov...now that's an odd combination... but it worked perfectly for me.  To be honest, I was terrified of reading this book simply because of the two authors named on the cover. I expected it to be hardcore and full of angst. But no, it was the complete opposite. There really was no angst at all and it could even be said that it was a little too perfect and a little too unrealistic, but it fit my mood perfectly at the time.

It was about Owen, the toppy country mouse, falling for Malcolm, the confused dom, on his weekend holiday in London.  And of course Malcolm feels the same. It was hot. It was sexy. And it was sweet. No need for anything else.

3.5 Stars, not quite 4!

Perfect read when you’re in the mood for some sexy sweet man loving, all wrapped up with Hollywood movie ending.

Lucky for me this is exactly what I needed, otherwise I might be tempted to get a little bit pissy and eye rolly about it.

I do so enjoy seeing a sophisticated, arrogant and controlling yuppie brought down a few notches by an all American country boy. It’s ever so satisfying to watch that artificial restraint unravel revealing the needy man within the egotistical Dom façade. Works for me every time.

Country mouse is a quick read, a one night stand that blossoms to love in 60 hours, a tour of London, a romance made for the movies.

That title made me cringe. The cover screamed “Not for Anna!!" I read the synopsis and thought “Yep, this is not my thing.” Well, I’m eating crow and let me tell you, it tastes damn good. If this is fluff, it's fluff with heart.

Country Mouse is about a one night stand that turns into something meaningful and genuine. Simple as that. The story sucked me in from page one and didn't release me until the very satisfying end. (Apologies, a lot of double entendres flowing right now, after ALL those sex scenes.)

I liked both the characters. Generous, forgiving, unpredictable Owen-the American. Demanding, driven, surprisingly sweet Malcolm-the Brit. They challenged each other and made a perfect match, in the way opposites often do. The authors also managed to avoid cliche for the most part, instead delivering spontaneity, humour, and warmth in every scene.

What might turn off some readers. 1) The sex takes up many, many pages, which isn't for everyone. 2) These men can be very sweet...but not sickenly sweet imo. 3) The ending might be too easy. Eh, easy's good sometimes.

Country Mouse was a true pleasure to read-quick, entertaining fun. Apparently Part 2 is in the works! I can’t wait to see what's in store for Malcolm and Owen after the honeymoon.

Two more tidbits to encourage you to read:

"I love your noises," Owen confessed. "It's like you groan with a British accent." :)

Also, Owen's safeword really made me laugh.

The writing is disjointed. The plot evinces the work of two polar opposite authors. The kink is completely unintegrated. The sweetness is saccharine, particularly at the end. And the switch offs between British and American are erroneous several times.

The three stars are for my enjoyment of the storyline, the idea itself. I like the notion of meeting that person who exposes your truth and who you cannot let go of even if that revelation and concession comes after a single weekend. Again, I always really enjoy stories where people's lives come under upheaval because of love. This occurs here so my two stars for the faulty writing have been ramped up to three for my pleasure in that aspect of the story.

Moreover, I think Voinov and Lane together are like a grizzly bear and a teddy bear, both writers, but that's where all accord ends. They share a profession but their pens need not meet. It doesn't really work.

A lovely, romantic, romance.

This was my first Amy Lane book, even though I've been intending to read her for some time. I'm so pleasantly pleased that I picked this to be my first Amy Lane. I have a big, dumb grin on my face that won't be fading soon.

I chose to read this because of my respect for Aleksandr Voinov's writing. I don't know if I had expectations for this story but I have to say that I was surprised to find something so sweet and sexy. Having just come off reading his Dark Soul series, I was still in dark, edgy and intense mode. Country Mouse is emotional to be sure, but in a delightfully uplifting way. Very satisfying.

Malcolm chuckled wickedly. "You, my American friend, are like a hidden landmine of sex appeal. I'm going to have to look out for you."
"Too late." Owen raised his face to to the unfamiliar smells, breezes, sounds of the city, enjoying them even more now that he knew something of it and it had become personal to him. "I've already exploded. You're caught."

My perception of Amy Lane's work is that she writes very sexy stories. Without question, Voinov is quite adept at turning on the steam. Together, they created realistic, intimate scenes that allowed for emotions to build, as well as drove the story onward. I appreciate when a love scene doesn't stop the story-telling.

He tasted like gingermint and chocolate kulfi and something stronger and more powerful, something like want and need, and Owen drank him in and gave him back, dying for him in the subjective three hours it took to get to Malcolm's door.

The two main characters are beautifully created and have wonderful chemistry. Normally, when I read such likeable characters I want more but I have to say, I am perfectly satisfied with the ending.

I highly recommend this to those seeking a completely fulfilling romance. Very enjoyable.

This was actually very sweet...

Malcolme and Owen meet at a bar in London.

They enjoy each others company very much...
Owen is not the pushover, Country mouse he is and Malcolme certainly isn't as shallow as he thinks you to believe..

I loved Malcolme in his role as "dom", but as it seemed to be he was all to eager to be in the submissive role as well!!!

"You can't. Can't... can't just go away. Can't just... You can't get on that train and charge out of my life. It's not fair. I can't work, dammit. I... I made a bad trade. How dare you? How dare you walk into my flat and.. and then just.. just walk out again?"

Cute...., running towards book 2

3.5 stars.

I needed this book. After having spent a weekend reading some intense and emotional series, I needed a "sweet", easy book to ween me back into reality.

"Country Mouse" did a few things for me:
1) made me want to visit London
2) made me fall in love w/ Owen
3) made me crave Indian food
4) made me stop being such a hardass as I've been lately, taking all the books I've been reading WAY too seriously. This had tons of holes in it and could easily be torn apart, but I liked it anyways.

I'm still normal (I think).

Recommended. Enjoyable.

Wham, bam, thank you mam!

Well, this book started with the fastest hook up I have ever read or experienced. However, I loved the power games being played between these two, always a tug-war who was going to get the upper-hand. Malcolm not turning out to be as bossy or dominant as he liked to pretend and Owen not being submissive by any means. It was great to see how their relationship developed and to see the barriers come crashing down around Malcolm's so cold and unfeeling exterior.

I loved the final scene where they both had to admit that they had fallen for each other head over heels, but not once did it get too finger-in-throat schmaltzy with them dribbling their ever undying love for each other - a nicely written ending. Looking forward to reading the sequel!

Loved every minute of this book. The collaboration between Amy and Aleks worked. Sometimes you can tell where co-authors leave their footprint on a story. Add the fact that Amy and Aleks have two very different writing styles, I was thinking it was going to be obvious in Country Mouse. But it isn't. It is seamless and smartly done.

A Country Mouse is a story of what happens when a not quite as he seems Country Mouse and a not quite as he seems Dom find each other at a crappy bar and vacation love finds a home.

Review posted at: Swept Away By Romance

More like Roaring Grizzly!!! HOT, HOT, HOT!! I adored Owen and Malcolm! They couldn’t have been more different, yet they were so perfect for each other. Talk about role reversal, it was amazing to see how it all played out.

Owen is on vacation in London with his ex-girlfriend, when he spots Malcolm across a bar that he ventures into. He’s bi-sexual, but at the moment it’s the sexy Brit who’s caught his eye. Malcolm is waiting in the bar for his “date”…or rather the man he’s arranged to have sex with…a hook-up, when he sees the “country bumpkin”. Appearances can be deceiving and Malcolm is about to find out what Owen is all about.

Their first encounter in the bar was a prelude of what was to come, that give and take …the dialogue was raw and gritty, as they “feel” each other out.

“Bullshit?” It wasn’t his word, and his inflection at the end of it proved it. Owen arched his eyebrows, and his eyes—plain, ordinary brown—were suddenly dark and arresting. Malcolm found himself swallowing. “Bollocks,” Owen said smugly.

“Tripe. Shite. Waste. What-the-fuck-ever. A dinner? Yeah, sure. I might even kiss you goodnight on the cock. But I’m nobody’s fuck toy, so get that straight right now.” Malcolm recovered himself—indignation did that to you. “He’s not my fuck toy—that sod was begging for what I had to dish out.” Owen rolled his eyes again. “I’m sure he was. But don’t expect me to beg for a damn thing, okay?”

Malcolm is smug; demanding and loses his control when he’s with Owen, he declares he’s the dominant, but nothing could be further from the truth. Owen is a self-proclaimed “country mouse”, gives a good as he gets, is not quite the pushover that Malcolm thinks, and he renders him speechless. Owen knocks down the walls down that surround Malcolm, gently, carefully and uncovers a man who is desperate for real relationship; someone to share his life with.

You would never guess that this book was done as a joint effort. It flowed seamlessly, and the writing was as if it was of one mind. For a short read it had quite a bit of substance and the characters were detailed enough, that it was easy to connect to them, especially Malcolm and his inner struggle to maintain control. At times Owen read so young, and then when necessary, his gentleness and maturity would shine through. The dialogue was plentiful, humorous and heart-felt. The sex was passionate, sweaty and very HOT!! The ending has me hoping that their story will continue someday…I wanted more. I enjoyed Country Mouse so much…I read it twice!

I’m fan of Amy Lane, however have never read anything by Aleksandr Voinov, but this collaboration was wonderful! Not only will I continue to read Ms. Lane’s books, but now I’m on the hunt to see what Mr. Voinov has to offer.

omfg. Squee! i fucking loved this. Bloody brilliant. Im all full of happy fluttery fuzzies in my chest. I was excited about this as soon as i was told it was happening. Well... anyone who knows me and what an Amy Lane fangirl I am (i figure with words like squee in my reviews i may as well own the fangirl title) knows that excited would be an understatement. I was fascinated cuz these two authors are so breath takingly brilliant and so amazeballs when it comes to character driven, angst overloaded stories that the possibilities were endless. Then it came out and I am so wary of vacation themed stories that I shied from it. it will go down as the first Amy Lane story in forever that I didnt read on release day. Boy do I feel like a jackass.

Owen is such a good, solid guy. He even forgives his ex boyfriend who cheated on him with his ex girlfriend. I dont kno many people who could take that shit in stride. Then theres Malcolm and he is hiding behind this Dom façade when really he just needed someone to come along and bring a little sunshine in his life.

*le sigh*

Id love to see these guys again one day. And good lord yes yes yes should these authors definitely pair up again. 5 stars and a big thankyou to these authors for the giddy mood i am in now.

I admit, I never thought this would work, but it did, so now I'm just gonna go and metaphorically eat my socks.

This is going straight into my "comfort reads when I need a pick-me-up"-folder. It's adorable.

I didn't even know this was in the realm of possibility. Apparently, I don't stalk Aleks enough...

Is there a blog where Amy Lane talks about her experience with Aleks?

Was he... gentle, do you think?

Before I get to a more in-depth review of this book, can I just say how wonderful this book cover is?.? The visual representation of them is exactly as is written and demonstrates the differences between these two men and yet shows how great they look together.

And together they are simply divine, as is this story. In too many of the books I've read that feature BDSM acts, the reason an individual chooses the lifestyle isn't made clear, but in this story it's clear that Malcolm chooses the lifestyle because of how he perceives himself in the high pressure business world. He doesn't feel he has time for anything other than business, so having a meaningful relationship is out of the question. He takes any emotion out of being with someone by being totally in control. He was closed off upon first meeting him, very business-like. Seeing him have doubts as he and Owen got together made him more human, more likable, and his sweetness made me smile.

Owen might have appeared pliable at the beginning, but he quickly showed he had a backbone. I liked that he wasn't a pushover and that he demanded honesty from Malcolm before being with him. I liked his outgoing nature that pulled Malcolm out of his shell. He was close with his mother but was by no means a momma's boy. He made Malcolm see his world with new eyes and it made Malcolm a new and more endearing person.

The descriptions of London completely immersed me in the environment and I felt like I was on vacation too. Malcolm and Owen's sightseeing allowed their relationship to grow and the sexual tension to keep intensifying. This led to some amazingly hot and sensual sexual interludes that were nicely spaced throughout the story. The lite BDSM play added to the heat while the emotional connection became stronger and more apparent.

I found this story simply delightful! Malcolm and Owen were truly cute together and I loved how they could express their emotions without being embarrassed about them. They were strong and sexy and complemented each other beautifully. They encouraged each other to be better people and to go after what you want and isn't that what defines a perfect couple?.?

I loved Malcolm thinking he had everything under control until it spiraled completely away from him. Malcolm is focused and driven and really the kind of man you look at from the outside and think he's got it all together. But he's actually very lonely and in need of some honest-to-goodness romance in his life, the kind that comes with love at the end of the day. And he gets that in Owen. The younger man may not know all the ways of the big city or know about fashion and food, but he knows about when to submit and when to lead and how loving someone makes them better not weak. It was a wonderful story, the kind you sigh through and never want to end.
