A mysterious disappearance of a local man and the looming threat of three hurricanes headed towards the peaceful Caribbean island of Isla Mujeres create havoc in the lives of Jessica and her rescue mutt, Sparky. Diego held up his smartphone and silently showed her the screen, pointing at the NOAA graphics. Her eyes opened wide in surprise as she looked at the screen, then a frown crinkled her brow. “Really? Three hurricanes?” “Si," he responded, "Pablo, Rebekah, y Sebastien.” Book #3 of the Isla Mujeres Mystery series continues to follow the quirky lives of Jessica Sanderson and her friends introduced in Treasure Isla and Trouble Isla.

Death in the Vineyard Mysteries; love, lust, and loot in the affluent Okanagan wine region
Isla Mujeres Mysteries; sun, sand, and tequila with a twist of murder and a dash of revenge.
The quirky cast of characters, plus Sparky the multi-breed rescue pooch, scramble to solve the mysteries and catch the bad guys.
Sparky is an island beach-mutt who invited himself into our lives in 2013. He walked into our house one evening at dinner time, and never left. He has curly terrier fur covering pink and black polka-dotted skin and long silky Spaniel ears. His front paws are larger than his back ones and his sense of smell is extraordinary.
I have a very diverse, some might say eccentric, work history that frequently sneaks into the backstory of my main characters. I have been a bank clerk, antique store owner, ambulance attendant, volunteer firefighter, supervisor of a cutting-edge transit control center, partner in a Canadian micro-brewery, partner in an awarding winning bed and breakfast, and a hotel manager.
The third in the series about two strong independent women Jessica and Yasmin. In this one we learn more about their boyfriends Luis and Carlos. And we learn how to deal with hurricanes in Isla Mujeres, which as a new homeowner here, I am eager to learn. I just happen to know the author and she does a great job of weaving real facts about Mexican and island life into the story. Oh yeah and Sparky is a real dog - he belongs to the author and he even “signed” my book with his paw print lol!
These stories from Lynda Lock are great fun while also being wonderful love letter to Isla Mujeres, and island that is near and dear to our hearts. I am having a wonderful time reading them, but I must slow down, because I will run out, and then what will I do?? I know there are only 5 and I am enjoying them so much. I don't want to let go of Jessica, Yasmine and their pals and adventures, including of course, the terrific dog!
When you’re missing Isla, just pick up one of Lynda’s books and she’ll transport you there! As usual, the girls are in the thick of things and Sparky sniffs out another “treasure” 😬. I could picture myself in the town square watching the Independence Day fireworks...probably because I WAS there last September! Can’t wait to read #4...in 2 weeks! 🏖🍷📚🌴
Reading these mysteries is like a quick Caribbean vacation! Third in the Isla Mujeres mystery series. Lock's characters are like real people you'd meet on the street and her portrayal of life on this Mexican Caribbean island feels like you are there. In this novel, a hurricane hits the island. Stir in villains and romantic sub-plots and you get the idea. Recommended.
