FBI Special Agent Mackenzie White is summoned when another body is found dead in a self storage unit. There at first appears to be no connection between the cases; yet as Mackenzie digs deeper, she realizes it is the work of a serial killer-and that he will soon strike again.
Mackenzie will be forced to enter the mind of a madman as she tries to understand a psyche obsessed with clutter, storage, and claustrophobic places. It is a dark place from which she fears she may not return-and yet one which she must probe if she has any chance of winning the game of cat and mouse that can save new victims.
Even then, it may be too late.
A dark psychological thriller with heart-pounding suspense, BEFORE HE LONGS is book #10 in a riveting new series-with a beloved new character-that will leave you turning pages late into the night.

Another good one. This one has a few twists and turns I never saw happening. I love the way this story is going. It was unexpected and it makes me wonder the choices Mackenzie is going to have to make with her job, and with Ellington. Mackenzie is going to have a baby and she hasn't told Ellington yet that he is going to be a dad. This is new to all her other series. The women have usually already had kids and the kids are teens and almost adults. None of the female MC were pregnant which I think makes the stories so much better.
I recommend all the books in the Mackenzie White series. So far I love them all in this series
I liked how excited that Mackenzie and Ellington were to be working one last case together. I get why they wouldn't be able to work together, a big conflict of interest, but they do work good while on the same case. I also like that by working together they get to spend a bit more time in each others company. By not working together they could be on opposite sides of the country.
This case was creepy. I would hate to be left to die like all the women. One thing they didn't touch on was how the guy was able to stop killing for a while.
I hated how Mackenzie and Ellington fought in the middle of things. It seemed petty and I found myself on Mackenzie's side. With the info that Mackenzie found out later it made me wonder though about the fight, maybe it was nothing. I found myself laughing at the personal thing that Mackenzie discovered and how/when she shared it with Ellington.
It will be interesting to see where things go from here for Mackenzie and Ellington.

Se va poniendo muy bueno junto con cada caso, la vida de la agente Mackenzie White. Me gusta mucho ver en cada libro su evolución como mujer, porque como agente ella es grandiosa.
Wow - what a winner! Another great book by the outstandingly prolific author Blake Pierce, Before He Longs, #10 in his excellent Mackenzie White Mysteries series, sees (the newly pregnant), FBI Special Agent Mackenzie White, take on perhaps the most harrowing of all her cases.
Mackenzie and her policeman fiance Ellington have been making their wedding arrangements for some time, although he enjoys winding his mother up, (and irritating Mackenzie at the same time) by introducing his bride to be to her saying Mackenzie is more obsessed with work, than planning their wedding. I liked the way the tension built up gradually throughout the novel and exploded when Mackenzie found the corpses and was trapped by the killer in a deserted garage inspection pit. The way the killer seemed to be one or more steps ahead, until Mackenzie was able to link all the killings by means of the toy tea set items and dolls and then work out his obsession with small storage units was absolutely riveting, as was the showdown with herself and her baby at risk. I actually can't think of anything I didn't like/that didn't fit etc., as the characters, storyline, development of the plot - everything was just fabulous and I really appreciated a 'proper' ending that doesn't mean you have to read the previous/next book - although I highly recommend you do!
I love all of the Blake Pierce series and this one did not disappoint. I wait anxiously for a new book to come out but I am always sad when I finish it so quickly. Mackenzie and Ellington make a great team. I am not going to give any details away, you must read it for yourself. Every since I read the first Riley Page book (because it was free) I found my favorite author. In this new Mackenzie book women are getting murdered in storage units. I love the kind of offbeat imaginative bizarre way this is done with funky little details added. Thank you Blake for giving us some great mysteries to read with detailed characters we can relate to (the good guys).
I think this might be one of my favorite books in the series so far. Not just because of being with the characters that I've come to love reading about but the criminal they were hunting in this book really stood out to me in comparison with some of the others. There was a lot of psychology involved with this one--which I adored--and the author took the time to really delve deep into the killer's psyche.
Really excited for the next one!
Content: Strong language used regularly (f-word primarily), innuendo, one sex scene that is descriptive but not very long, violence
These books are incredibly addictive and as you can see from my reading list, I am reading them at the rate of knots. I have been devouring this series and every other series this author has written. What I will note, is that the books seem to be getting shorter at the same price point and the editing leaves a lot to be desired. However, the stories just bring me back for more and more and more.
Mackenzie is on the hunt for a serial killer who stabs women and then locks them in a storage unit. The storyline is entertaining however it feels like the author got a little distracted between McKenzie's personal life and her case. Overall I'm glad that Mackenzie is finally moving forward in her personal life.
I chose to grab the Audible version and had to stop. This author used a great narrator for other books in this series that I lined (Elaine Wise) but this one, he had Mary Sarah. It was awful. I have nothing good to say about her narration, her voice. I had to return the audible and I will need to borrow the ebook.
I think I read too many suspense thriller and watched too many crime movies that i sort of pre-empt what should happen ... I felt like the story was stretched for drama not for the suspense of it. Also seen at least three typos but it's just me being picky!
5...And just like that, magic!! I mean, this Mac novel had an amazing premise AND for the first time all the personal drama didn't hold bad the storyline!! This one is thus far my favorite of this series!!
I chose this rating because this shows the struggles all people have in their past and present, and suprises you find out at the most inconvenient times.
Good one!! This was storage facilities and dolls. Her issues and way she treats her partner bothers me some times. I feel like he puts in a lot to get that relationship to work.
Dels 10 volums que he llegit de la sèrie, aquest és, sens dubte, el millor. Un bon cas, amb una bona trama policial, complexa i sorprenent. I els personatges guanyen profunditat psicològica
This was such a satisfying read. Not just because of the uniquely sick serial killer MacKenzie and Ellington are chasing but because of the growth of Mac, the testing and evolving relationship between Mac and Ellington (can't find his first name in my head right now) as they plan a wedding, meet his mom, and chase a serial killer at the same time. I really loved this one! If you have read these from book one you know what I mean. If you haven't read book one yet, jump in, the water is warm with a surprise waiting.
