I honestly love these authors that can pack so much in one Lil book ►Of course you know there was much more in between the lines that I didn’t mention cuz I wanted you to experience yourself.. ► I would say thankfully the author didn’t get into complete detail about all the in & out that a cancer patient goes through. But I would say I would’ve have loved some of that shifter blood when I was going though all my steps of cancer
➦Hope you enjoy this read & also always keep in mind this is just my opinion ➦**"I voluntarily reviewed this ARC" ..** .**In exchange for an honest review.** ツ Paulette Review ❤💕
I am only giving the book 3 stars because of all the other stories in the book. I wish publishers would be honest and say the cover story is only 1/20th of the book and there are 19 other stories included. BTY I only right 1/3 of them
I voluntarily received an ARC of this book for review. When you are given news that is life changing how can you possibly think rationally? I know it isn't easy but this couple seem to have more than just a little bit of chemistry between them, and Dr. Wolfe and Ms. Flores are in for a long haul with this news between them. You really need to read this book. It is one of many fast reads that keep you wanting more from this Author :-)
Simon and Lana have more of a connection then hey expect. It gets really complicated when she finds out just how much they have in common. This is a quick read. I liked it and it had some differences from other stories in the genre that kept it interesting.
Lana is having a bad day because she was just diagnosed with breast cancer and that is what killed her mother at a young age. Lana is also the mother of 3 year old twin girls after a botched surrogate pregnancy. She was supposed to have a baby for her sister using her brother-in-laws sample but the hospital gave her an anonymous sample instead. Lana wanted the twins anyway. Her sister talks her into going to a charity gala to get her mind of from things. At the benefit she meets Simon a hot older man who she is strongly attracted to. Needing some stress relief and some fun, she goes with him back to his apartment for a great night of passion. The next mon. she goes to see the cancer doctor and finds out that it is Simon. Simon is a wolf shifter who lost his wife to cancer. To shut out the pain and to keep from being involved in a relationship again, he sleeps with a kinds of different women. Usually he does one time and forgets about them. Somehow Lana is different. He knows he can't be with her again because he is her doctor but she is a great temptation. Then Lana calls him unexpectedly. She woke up with two wolf pups in her bed and she freaked out. She had no idea that her daughters were shifters and he is the only shifter she knows. He decides to help her out by telling her what to expect and takes her to the shifter culture center. This is a good book with some twists and surprises. Simon at first was a first class jerk by the way her would sleep with any woman. However opening his heart again made him a much better person. I felt bad for all that Lana is going through. I voluntarily received a copy of this story and this is my honest review.
There are a lot of emotional reactions to this story floating around in my head right now. Not all of them pretty. Simon begins this story as not a truly likable guy. He believes that he can escape the emotional pain of a loss by bedding every woman he encounters. And single, in a relationship or married makes no difference to his line of one night stands or ladies on speed dial for a quick booty call. I didn’t like him, had no sympathy for him and even though he did change his ways, I still only tolerated him by the story’s ending. This one was all about Lana for me.
Lana is a single mother of toddler twin girls. How she became a single mom is a large part of this story. She has received devastating news on this day and life is about to change drastically for her… in more ways than she realizes. Attending a charity ball that same night, Lana does something she’d never usually do and the consequences of that one night will be huge.
The chemistry between Simon and Lana is off the charts all the way through this story, even when they aren’t acting on those feelings. While the twists weren’t that hidden in this story, The Shifter’s Secret Twins is far more about a man coming to terms with his grief, becoming ready to make a desirable future for himself and the woman he loves. It’s about a woman overcoming her fears, learning to trust and seeing an honest change happen in the behavior of a man she’s come to love.
I enjoyed my time with Lana and Simon. A few interesting secondary characters add to the drama happening. I may not be Simon’s biggest fan, but I did enjoy this story.
I read this title through my Kindle Unlimited subscription.
After reading the beginning of this book, my first thoughts about the “hero” were not exactly complementary. He’s a wolf shifter. And a doctor. And a complete player. And a player is a player…
The heroine, Lana, has breast cancer… and after she has a one night stand with the aforementioned doctor… Surprise! She finds out he’s her new physician.
How could this possibly come out okay?? Ugh.
But I believe in this author. So I kept reading.
Grief, the kind of grief that rips at your soul and leaves a gaping hole there… That kind of grief can make you do almost anything to fill the void. Using sex as a means of self-medicating… this is the endless, self-destructive loop that Simon is caught in.
Now I get it. And now my heart aches. I want him to find his way out! But if he does, will he be able to take a chance on loving Lana?
There’s a bit of an ironic twist in this story, as the title implies. And it was deftly handled by the author.
The subject of breast cancer was also handled well, I think. The sneakiness of the disease, the fatigue, the worry… Wanting to hope… fearing to hope… Will Lana triumph over cancer?
And the twins? Well, in some ways, I thought they were the best part of the book. What would it be like to handle a couple of 3-year-olds who randomly shift into wolf puppies-- with every dreadful puppy trait at full speed ahead?? And how scary for them!
Somehow all this craziness came together into a really enjoyable story. I received an ARC of this story and this is my voluntary and honest review.
Lana is a single mother to 3 year old twins. She has just learned that she has breast cancer. Determined to beat it, she is happy to know that she has an appointment to meet with a Doctor that has had great success treating cancer with shifter blood.
Simon is a doctor and also a wolf shifter. Widowed, he has been pretty much a player since his wife died. He cannot seem to move past his grief. His only rule, he doesn't sleep with his patients.
Then he met Lana. Although when they met he didn't know she would be his patient. He didn't find out until the next day. But they agreed to keep it professional. Lana will do nothing to jeopardize her cancer treatment, and Simon is her best chance at remission. But will they be able to keep it professional?
This was a great story.. It had a lot of content to it, even though it was a shorter read. There is much emotion dealing with the cancer, and the grief. There is a lot of humor, as well as some steamy bedroom scenes. I really like the aspect of the story where the shifters were very much out in the open. In a lot of shifter stories that you read, they almost always live in secret and are not widely accepted, as in this story. That was a refreshing change.
if you like shifter stories, hot alpha males, sweet romance and HEA then you will love this book as much as I did.
I received and ARC of this book and an voluntarily leaving this review. This is my honest opinion.
Lana Flores had stage 1 breast cancer. Being the mother of three year-old twins and losing her own mother to breast cancer, she decides to get an aggressive, new kind of treatment from a wolf-shifter doctor. Before meeting with her new doctor, she attends a charity ball with her sister and aunt. She ends up having a one-night stand with a hot older man. Imagine her surprise when she goes to her appointment and he walks into the room. He is her doctor and also a shifter, and they had a night of mind-blowing sex! This book has lots of twists and turns, with Simon dealing with the grief of losing his first wife and using sex as a way to forget. He is a player like none I have ever seen before! Also the twins, shift into wolf puppies and trash the house. Lana didn't even know they were part shifter! That's another part of the story that kind of blows your mind. Lana was artificially inseminated to carry a baby for her sister Kari and her husband. There was a mix-up in the lab and the wrong sample was used. Lana decided to keep the baby which turned out to be twins, and Kari ended up pregnant as well. Simon and Lana struggle against their attraction to one another and then Simon finds out who the twins biological father is! You need to read the story. Lots of secrets and a lot of angst. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
I'll be honest here, not my favourite of Ryder's books. A wolf shifter who is a doctor; any girl's dream, but a player! Not everyone is a goody two shoes and to be honest if they were then the story would be boring, but to introduce a player who messes around with married women. Sorry this was a little too far. Certainly as a heroine of the story I would steer clear completely!.
The massive age difference didn't really work for me and seemed a little far fetched given there was no expansion on the story line (ie shifters age slower??). There were a lot of story lines started but not expanded on and didn't seem to mesh. Maybe all the story lines would have worked in a longer book but in this I felt I was continuously skipping to yet another piece of information/story.
What did make the book great was the interaction of the twins. Certainly their antics made the story lighthearted and fun and I laughed out loud at the realism of this story line. The medical angle of breast cancer was handled delicately and with sensitivity. Okay it didn't go into the whole heartache of it, but the author didn't glamorise or make light of the disease.
All in all the read was pleasant and doesn't put me off this author as I love most of the previous books, just this one didn't come up to their usual standards in my opinion.
Lana wanted to help her step-sister have a baby, so agreed to be a surrogate. But there was a mix-up and she was given the wrong donor sperm. The donor sperm turned out to be from a shifter and Lana had twins. And her step-sister became pregnant and so Lana did not have to give up her babies. Then she discovered she had cancer and went to a doctor who was experimenting with using shifter blood to beat the cancer. He turned out to be the one-night stand that she had before going to the doctor's office and starting the treatment. He was trying to forget his grief over losing his mate in the wrong way; he became a player with a string of one-night stands. Then he discovered that he was the father of Lana's twins and wanted to turn over a new leaf and leave his old life-style behind. Even though he was much older than Lana, and after many difficulties he and Lana and the twins became a family. I received an Advanced copy of this book and am freely and voluntarily writing this review.
Aww! I'm a sucker for any shifter romance that's as sweet and hot as this one! Forget the Big Bad Wolf, forget dime-a-dozen alpha-holes who leave bite marks. Bring on Dr. Simon Wolf - 50ish, uber-successful doctor, wolf-shifter, and king of the one-night stand. Lana Flores knows - they had one! Back before the cancer, before she found out that her sperm-donor conceived twins are wolf shifters, before Simon became her doctor and her life became a sh*tstorm. No spoilers, but there's minimal angst, lots of UST, her sister and his best friend in judgmental opposition, the age difference, and the professional ethics issue to work through before reaching HEA. I don't know about the whole fated-mate thing, but in this story everything that happens is like the Universe smacking these two upside the head with the Cosmic Two-by-four: Hello, you belong together! T.S. Ryder' best so far. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
I received an ARC of this book and voluntarily reviewed.
Lana's step-sister Kari and Kari's husband Robert asked Lana to be a surrogate mother for them using Lana's eggs and donor sperm. After a mix-up at the hospital, Lana received anonymous sperm instead of Robert's. Lana conceived twins. When Kari got pregnant shortly afterwards, the all agreed that Lana would keep the twins. Two years later, Lana developed stage 1 breast cancer. She had a one-night stand with a sexy man she met at a charity dinner, only to discover a few days later that her referral oncology doctor, Dr. Wolfe, was her one-night stand and a Wolf Shifter!
An even bigger surprise one night was when her twin girls shifted to wolf pups. Lana asked Dr. Wolfe's help in getting information on shifters in general and her sperm donor in particular.
An unusual Shifter PNR with a sweet adult sex and a HEA.
I voluntarily read an Advance Reader Copy of the book.
Man... I love these books. I don't know how T.S. Ryder does it - they're wildly entertaining, engrossing, and emotional - all while discussing shifters. Mind boggling, I know. What I really enjoyed in The Shifter's Secret Twins was that despite the unbelievable plot (which I won't discuss, because spoilers), the characters were real and handled their issues in a realistic, mature, and sensitive way. There was open communication, honesty, and remorse when necessary. I FREAKING LOVE THAT! Yes, there was angst and drama and misunderstandings - but both the male and female leads dealt with these issues like grown @$$ people and I'm so here for that. This was my favorite T.S. Ryder book yet, and I will continue to devour everything she (he? idk) puts out. 3.75 out of 5 wine glasses.
Lana meets Simon at a party and they leave together. She discovers shortly after that he is her cancer doctor. While awaiting her cancer surgery, her twins reveal themselves as shifters. She immediately calls Simon asking for his help. He agree to meets her at the cultural center to help both her and the girls understand what is going on with them. The twins play with him and other shifter children at the center, having a good time. Next thing you know, it is time for her surgery. She had gone to Simon because he was integrating doing innovating work in cancer care. He is introducing shifter tissue to the area of the incision immediately with the surgery in an attempt to make the healing quicker and make recovery quicker as well. The book takes a sudden turn and things with Lana, Simon, and the girls is never the same again.
This book isn't too bad but it left something to be desired I'm not sure what yet but something. And this one she discovered she has cancer breast cancer she has two twin girls when she had decided to help her sister and brother-in-law by carrying their baby. But then her sister got pregnant so she kept her babies which were even the right sperm donor. When she goes out with her sister one night she decides to have a one night of fun just for herself. The only problem is in the next day when she goes to visit the doctor she finds out her good time with her dr . The book was OK but I'm just not sure what it is that was missing I didn't really read any of the other books in it so it is a short book.
I recieved this book free for my review. And was so happy I did. This book was amazing. It hit on so many uncomfortable topics yet brought them to life and made them ok to talk about, and a way to cope. Lana is an amazing woman, raising 3 year old twin daughters and finding out she has breast cancer. When she meets her doctor, they both discover that they have met before. A one night stand no less. Simon is a shifter who is using DNA from shifters to help humans with cancer to help speed up recovery and hopefully more. There is so much to this story that it was hard to put down. Through it all there are Lana's twin girls that bring out the lighter side of the story. A great story with a HEA
I want to clarify that my rating is for 'The Shifter's Secret Twins' - This is actually a collection of short stories
Simon is a top notch physician that deals with breaking edge technology -he is smart, witty handsome with some heavy emotional issues - as for how he is dealing with them let us just say it is not in the healthiest manner - definitely not doctor advised Lana a single mother of twins who has just been diagnosed with a life changing illness now add to that a very surprising "shift" that can only be described as a life altering change What do you get? All the ingredients for a very emotional and heart pounding paranormal romance I received a free copy of this book and chose to leave a voluntary review
Lana has breast cancer and Simon is a doctor that specializes in the early stages of cancer by introducing shifter cells into the tissue surrounding the tumor after surgery and before whatever chemotherapy or radiation the patient undergoes. (Direct quote)
This was okay. There is a lot of drama and a couple of sex scenes that were uninspiring. The surprise of finding out about Lana's twins being Simon's was kind of anticlimactic because of the title of the book. Even if you didn't know the title, you could have figured it out before you read it. There is a HEA with no cliffhanger.
I voluntarily reviewed a Heartbeat Reads ARC of this book.
I just didn't care for this. The relationship between the two just didn't seem very deep, and I have to admit that I don't like stories where both the H & h have had so many sexual partners.
In addition, this story took up only 8% of the Kindle file, with the rest having "bonus material". I would have preferred that the author spent more time developing the relationship between the doctor and Lana.
ARC - I voluntarily offered to review this book with no obligations and my opinions are honest! One night stand was not supposed to be complicated. You meet, you have sex, and you never will see each other again. Just ask Lana. He is her new doctor. Simon was surprised to see Lana at his office. They just have to make the best of it. Now, how to deal w/ the mutual attraction. That will be harder. Later on she finds out who is the father or her twin girls. This was a charming story from beginning to end. Love the ending!
A quick read that was entertaining. It's the story Lana a young single mother of twins and Steven her hot one night stand that becomes her doctor after that wild one night stand. I thought it was interesting that Simon is the wild one. It was funny how Lana tames Simon just by being herself. I received a free copy and my honest review is it was a fun well written story told for both Simon and Lana's point of views as they both grow up a little to become a family. Liked the switched roll reversal of Simon doing the chasing. Surprised how the twins factor in. A fun book to read.
Besides being a love story, this is also a story of loss. Both of the main characters have lost loved ones to cancer. Each is trying to cope in their own way. Lana Flores has twin girls and just learned she has cancer. Simon Wolfe is her oncologist. They end up with a very personal connection and some very different bonding moments. I am afraid to say more so I don't spoil the story. It has some really cute parts with the girls that I thoroughly enjoyed. I really liked the whole story and the ending was perfect. I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.
Lana and Simon enjoy a one-night-stand together, then things get complicated when they meet in a professional capacity the next day. Despite all the reasons not to explore their attraction to each other, the chemistry is undeniable and they soon find out they truly need each other in ways that could not have been predicted. This is a smart, sexy shifter story with lots of emotional depth, panty-melting heat, and heart-melting wolf-shifter puppies! Every book I've read by this author is a winner, but this one is my new favorite. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
Received in return for an honest review naughtiness 4*
Utterly loved this book very much I have very much become addicted to TS Ryder and cant wait for more.
As always I will not give spoilers, I will say this book takes you on a huge rollercoaster of emotions from heart break to giddy as a toddler on a sugar rush, truly is a fantastic read and cant wait for the next book to come out, also will be eagerly awaiting it landing in my inbox.
To all who love shifters and romance that is most definitely fought for I think you will love this book.
Thank you TS Ryder for writing it and Diane at Heartbeat Reads for inviting me to read and review it.
I enjoyed this story. A different description of the 'shifter world', than I'm used to read. Even without the shifter part it was a very good and heart warming story. It's always hard to write/read something that happens to so many people, but we shouldn't atop talking about it. The characters - especially the Twins - were well described and it had a flow in it. I hope that many moore will find this gem.
"I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book."
This was an emotional read for me. In the last three years I have lost my mom to cancer and two friends to breast cancer. Needless to say I did a lot of tearing up while reading this story. This story posed a real good question. What would you do if your one night stand turns out to be your doctor? Add another little twist of a mix up with fertilization and you end up with a real good story by this author.
*I received an Advance Readers Copy of this book which I am voluntarily reviewing*
This is a very well written story. It will make you laugh, cry, and want to never put it down. She has breast cancer. He is a doctor a lot older than her. She goes to a ball and meets someone. She ends up with twins. He donated his gold during college to help pay for it. This is suspenseful, exciting and so much more. I highly recommend it. I was given a review copy and voluntarily review it.
This was an interesting romance, not as upbeat as most of this author's work but still, a sweet and enjoyable story. If you enjoy a shifter romance with an older man, younger single mom style plot, then I am sure you will enjoy this book. The characters are sweet and strong and the plot is easy to get wrapped up in, I read it cover to cover and thoroughly enjoyed the story this book had to tell.
