Title: The Shifter's Hostage
Author: T. S. Ryder

➦Lydia Crawford manage the restaurant where she work with her best friend & head Chef Amber. These two had dream of open their own restaurant together.. Until one night as Lydia & Amber were closing did both their life’s change forever

➦Mr. Asshole a.k Ian Orkney the dragon, he was just shy of three hundred years ago, rich, handsome, arrogant & of course clueless to the opposite sex.. Basically a typical male..

Ian been having visions of Lydia killed by demons. He finds himself not only recuing Lydia, but also Amber almost being kill by demons.

Being around humans wasn't something he particularly enjoyed on the best of days. Now having two of them living with him, able to discover his secret, and putting his life at risk…

➦sad thing about the 2 main characters was they had more in common than they wanted to admit. Both pretty much living without their family cuz both were tragically killed

➦I really enjoy this twisted tale of Humans, Demons & Dragons .This book had unique flair too it

➦Hope you enjoy this read & also always keep in mind this is just my opinion

Blurb:
A curvy gal with hidden powers PLUS an insanely sexy dragon shifter PLUS dangerous creatures looking for their next target…

Lydia is a curvy restaurant manager who doesn’t need unfriendly customers. Least of all the arrogant, but unfortunately extremely sexy billionaire who keeps sending back his food.

But when she’s suddenly attacked by a bunch of demons, the billionaire might just be the only one who can save her. Even if that means he has to keep her hostage in his fancy mansion. Just her luck…

Ian Orkney a.k.a. “The A**hole” wants everything to be done exactly his way. But behind his self-built wall is a man who has lost everyone he loved.

What he really wants is a mate and children. But that means he’d have to reveal the secret he’s been keeping for almost three hundred years: He’s the last of the dragons. His job is to protect the world against demons. And his newest project involves a human. An incredibly sexy one.

Not that that matters.

He could never love a human.

I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of the book.

I'm pretty sure I want a dragon now. Well, at least a moody, rich, handsome man that is wildly protective of me and capable of fighting demons that also happens to shift into a mighty dragon. Oh Ian! He was such a jerk at first but he certainly grew on me! Apparently, our female lead (Lydia) felt the same! It wasn't quite insta - love, in fact, T.S. Ryder did an excellent job of pacing considering the length of the book. There was even more action than sex in the book, which normally would be a drawback for me, but the story kept me so engaged that I hardly even noticed! 3.5 out five wineglasses from me - and halfway through I was already checking my Kindle to see if I had any other books by the author (I do!) and I will be getting more!

Wow! This book is an awesome story. I love the cover of this book! This is a Happy Ever After ending. Everything was woven just right. There was no loose nails at the end. It gives a powerful message about what can true love can do, friendships, and fate. These all are the reasons I would give this book 5 stars. I would recommend this book to any fantasy or paranormal romance readers. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.

Entertaining quick read / short story

This done in one quick read is a surprisingly entertaining story about two people who have lost their families, know the true heart break and ache of loss, and yet somehow, while fighting a common foe, find it within themselves to take a chance on one another.

Lydia laid on the floor of the restaurant, moaning from all of the desserts she had eaten. Amber told her she would probably die from all that food – she had been warned! But throwing away good food that the owner refused to donate bothered Lydia. So she ate it rather than waste it. As they left, two masked men burst through the door! At gunpoint, they put them in the freezer. Before they could block the door for safety, something exploded and Ian Orkney pulled open the freezer door. He lifted them to his shoulders and carried both through the burned out restaurant to his car. Then he demand to know why two demons were after them????

Ian was a dragon shifter, guardian of the gates to Hell, who had protected humans for hundreds of years. He drove them to his mansion, where Amber fainted and was put in bed. Lydia then tried to get answers from him about the demons. She did not like hearing that she and Amber would be living at the mansion now! So he told her his true identity and puffed out a small amount of smoke as he turned and walked away.

Realizing the demons were up to something, and that he was the last of his kind with no one to leave behind in his place, he asked Amber if she would be his mate. He would pay her and she could share his wealth. Lydia went into a rage because Amber had been abused by boyfriends and this was such a cold request. Ian just didn’t understand – he didn’t even like humans since they had killed his family. But he needed offspring and now both women wanted nothing to do with him.

Although Amber chose to leave, Lydia stayed. Ian took her to his fortress in Scotland, but demons attacked and she was badly wounded. At the hospital, more demons appeared and the battle raged as Lydia started to come into her long-hidden Paladin powers. Would she and Ian be able to beat back the horde of demons? Or would hell break through and destroy the human world? Lydia would need to call on a strength and untested skill she wasn’t sure she had – would it be enough?

Despite the dire situation created right from the start, I loved the humor among the characters. Amber and Lydia’s banter when she stuffed herself with all the desserts, apparently a recurring thing, was amusing. And Lydia’s verbal attack on Ian after he rescued them would definitely make you smile! The story line was good and I recommend this book for a fun read. Trying to save the world while creating a loving relationship – what more could you want?

The first story was ok, the sudden about face though put me off, there was no reason or growth behind any of what went on. Plus her supposed strong h came across sounding like a teenager and she was far too accepting about everything that went on, of all things her friends reaction was IMO more realistic.
The second story was also sort of ok, I liked the ending it was sweet and I liked his reaction to her being pregnant.
The third story just didn't work for me at all, she doesn't trust him, then she does, then they become friends then suddenly he doesn't trust her (I still can't understand why he thought she'd betrayed him) and to make matters worse he locks her in a bathroom.
Then suddenly she doesn't trust him again and he realizes she didn't betray him but he still locks her back in the bathroom... and suddenly everything is all ok and she trust him he trust her and they all loved up again.
Ok let me just say what I loath the most with these kind of stories, he betrayed her trust.... and she doesn't trust easily, he turned on her, locked her up, then it gets even worse... and she still wants to sleep with him? And worse all is instantly forgiven because... yooo hooo sex! Really? With her issues she's suddenly ok with him turning on her? as far as I'm concerned he needs to spend a few weeks in a bathroom, asshole.
I could not read another one after that, when the H in a story screws up that badly I want restitution, I want my h to get her pound of flesh and her apology and I truly believe trust once broken needs a whole bunch more work than ... lets have sex.

Lydia works in a restaurant for a very nit-picky boss. She and her friend are considering starting their own restaurant but Lydia has been afraid to take risks since her mother was killed. Then one night after closing, some men with guns broke in and shoved the women in the freezer. They are scared for their lives especially after they think is a bomb set off.
Ian is a dragon shifter, the last one. He gets visions of the future and he got one of Lydia being killed by demons. So he has been coming to the restaurant frequently to keep an eye on her. Problem is he is a rotten customer and incredibly picky. Lydia calls him the A&&hole. He rescues the women and killed the demons disguised as men. Ian brings Lydia and her friend home with him to keep them safe. Being the last dragon with the important job of saving humans from demons, means he has to make more dragons. He wants a mate to help carry on his race. Love or feelings aren't important just new dragon babies. He asks Lydia's friend to be his mate.
Lydia can't believe Ian's nerve. She is also feeling something that is very close to jealousy. Ian is investigating why the demons are so interested in the women and finds some interesting information about Lydia's past. Lydia has a lot to learn. This is a good book with both action and feeling. I voluntarily read a copy of this story and this is my honest review.

Do you want some humor mixed in with your hot shifter story? You've come to the right story!

Lydia is a curvy (I must stop here and say, it doesn't really matter what weight she is...she can be funny with ANY body type!) manages a restaurant which is attacked by demons. Ian, an obnoxious billionaire who comes into her restaurant and constantly sends his food back with complaints, shows up just in the nick of time to save her and her head chef Amber...by taking them to his mansion and not letting them go due to the danger the demons present.

Without giving too much away, this is a very funny short story with Lydia pushing all of Ian's buttons while he tries to tell himself he could never be attracted to a human woman. Supporting character Amber adds some to Lydia's indignity towards Ian (in the beginning) when he acts like he just wants a mate, doesn't care whether it's Amber or Lydia. Amber's character is never really developed, however, as the spotlight is on Lydia and Ian.

If you're looking for a light funny shifter story, pick this one!

I can always count on this author for a fun story that leaves me smiling, making her one of my faves for a fun bedtime book. If you've read any of Ryder's previous books, then you already know that they are typically quick, fast-paced reads with fun characters, a bit of angst, and of course, a HEA for our couple. The Shifter's Hostage is no different in that respect, it's about an hour's read time and things move quickly. I always enjoy Ryder's stories, so I didn't even read the blurb, just started reading. I did see the dragon on the cover and that's an extra bonus for me! I love dragons! In this latest T.S. Ryder tale, we get a cranky dragon, a woman who has no problem putting him in his place regardless of how much smoke and fire he spits out, and demons - lots of demons. We don't get tons of details and depth, but that's okay. I don't always need a novel length tale to enjoy the read. The Shifter's Hostage is fun and interesting with just the right amount of sexy and some drama to keep the story moving. If you enjoy PNR and short stories, check this one out!

When I first started reading this story, I thought I was reading a continuation of another book. I know the author has more books with the title "The Shifter's _____". I'm not sure if these books are connected or not, but it felt like I was missing something.

Ian is the last dragon shifter. His job is to protect humans against demons even though humans killed his parents.

Lydia is the last Paladin. Her parents were killed when she was five years old and has no idea what she is until Ian tells her. "There is a gate that separates this plane of existence from hell. Long ago, the Paladins built protections over it to stop the demons from escaping." (Quote from book). Now she needs to repair the protection barrier to keep more demons from escaping.

This is a short easy read with lots of action. Ian is a little naïve and arrogant when it comes to woman for being three hundred years old. I didn't really feel any connection to either one of them. There is a HEA with no cliffhanger.

Restaurant manager Lydia Crawford and head chef Amber are leaving the restaurant at the end of the night when they're locked into the freezer by 2 armed men. After an explosion, the freezer door opens and Ian, known in the restaurant as The Asshole, walks in. Billionaire dragon shifter Ian Orkney rescues Lydia and Amber after a demon attack and keeps them hostage in his mansion to ensure their safety. Ian figures out that Lydia is the last Paladin, defender, after 11 Paladin had been murdered all over the world. The demons must have something big planned, but what? After getting to know Lydia for one month, Ian says "Will you be my mate? I'm rich" and she refuses, even though she's very much attracted to him. Will Ian be able to convince Lydia to be his mate? Will Ian and Lydia be able to foil the demon's evil plans?

T. S. Ryder delivers a funny, action-packed, suspenseful and steamy story. I highly recommend this book.

Lydia works in a restaurant with Amber and suddenly one day they are nearly killed by two men coming into the restaurant wearing black masks.
Ian feels alone carrying the burden of being the last of the Dragons. He needs a mate to have children and get rid of that burden.
Although the story is not bad, the characters are not very likable to me. Lydia behaves in a silly way when there is food involved and instead of being thankful to Ian for rescuing them she is rude and with a bad attitude to him. Amber is very shy and insecure but then she is all tough trying to defend Lydia. Ian is very cold. However, I can understand that being the only Dragon left and being humans the ones to blame for that.
I would have liked to see the previous times when Ian was in the restaurant and his issues about the food.
All in all, I enjoyed the story, just not as much as other books from this author.

Having never read this author before, I wasn't sure what to expect. I have to say that I was definitely not disappointed. The plot was intriguing, the writing impressive, and the characters complex and well thought out. These characters completely draw you into the story and make you believe in this extraordinary world the author has created for us where lone dragon shifters and paladins battle demons for the safety of the earth. From romance and witty banter to expansive battle scenes and drama, this book has a bit of everything. I, personal, was hooked from very early on and remained riveted to the very last page. I would definitely recommended this book to anyone looking for a sweet, sexy, and compelling read.

Lydia has no clue who is trying to kill her, and even less of a clue as to why her most difficult customer, Ian, would be there to save her. Every. Time. Who is Ian, and why is he so determined to protect Lydia? And can she teach this caveman (literally – one of his homes is cave-like) to be a considerate gentleman? This was an exciting book to read, a bit more of the supernatural than I’m accustomed to in the shifter stories I usually read but it really worked here. Lydia is no shrinking violet, and it’s a darn good thing she’s not as she discovers her role in the battle of good vs. evil. Ian may be a little rough around the edges, but he’s everything Lydia doesn’t even know she needs. Together, they take on the world and find the answers they’ve been searching for. This is one of the better shifter stories I’ve read. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.

This is a really fantastic story. Lydia has been targeted by demons and has no idea why. Ian is a somewhat anti-social dragon, charged with keeping demons from taking over. Lydia is a hoot. She eats all the outdated desserts so they're not trashed. Yet, when things got really bad she put on her big girl panties and tried to handle it.

Ian has a problem with humans, but must keep them safe. Lydia is the one targeted by the demons, but why? He has also forgotten how to interact with people. Some of the things he says are so wrong and he just doesn't understand.

There is plenty of action with the demons and dragons. Oh, let's not forget funny. I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.

Read on KU and I didnt like it. It was all over the place! It was choppy and not smooth. The plot was not consistent. I dont understand why it got high marks. I've never read this author before and I probably wont again. Sorry. Unlikable characters and honestly they are all STTL! You cant go from hating someone as much as Lydia and Ian hate each other to all lovey dovey. Just doesnt work. He hates humans. Soo...no. This is one of those books that has a ton of other books in it or parts of other books. I didnt read past this book. I think it was still at like 2% after finishing. I do NOT like when authors do that. Its not what I want. I want to read 1 book not 2000 pages of others. If I want that I'll buy a box set. Just sayin.

Voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book

Great novella sized read. This book is a delight for those who like their paranormal fix. With a sexy male dragon who is a little chauvinistic to start with and curvy female Paladin winning over the demons what more could you ask for.
The book allows plenty of scope to expand on the characters and create a series if the author wished and I must say I wanted the book to be longer so I could learn more about dragons and Paladins.
The only negative I could say would be the female character's portrayal wasn't very dimensional and you were struck with the idea the only reason she was curvy is because she ate too many cakes. It would have been nice to take away from the over eating stereotype and give a bit more focus to the beauty of a BBW.

I liked this story. I have read a few books now by T.S. Ryder and found this one to be one really good. Well written, it thought it focused more on a plot then just steamy scenes. I found it to be rather funny in a few spots. I really liked the first chapter with Lydia laying on the floor whining about eating too many sweets, which we all can picture all too well. I liked the interactions between Lydia and Ian. Plus how can you go wrong with a dragon shifter male who is clueless when it comes to girls. Too funny. My honest review is - short steamy-light paranormal story that I found to be funny and cute to read on a lunch break.

Entertaining story about Lydia and Ian coming together to save the world. He is the last dragon and is pledged to save the human. Problem is, he hates them. He feels they are responsible for him being alone. However, he cannot stand by and watch demons take over. Quite a lot happens in that little restaurant at the beginning. Then there is the time they spend at his mansion. When she discovers who she is, things change. She grows into the strong, independent woman with powers unbelievable to her. Her confidence grows as well. She still has a problem with eating too much cake. Poor Ian.

Sensationally Superb Story!! (Dont miss it!).Totally awesome book. I have never stated that before, but its well earned. I absolutely loved this book. It had everything; Witty humor, romance, passion, a heroine with a personality, supernatural elements, a HOT shifter (double pun intended),,and a delightfully intriguing plot! (And everything else one would want in a book-goodie-read). It is a charming, easy to get drawn into, highly entertaining read, that has a definite dragonlike spark to it 😉. IMHO, he can take me hostage any day 😜 ( I was given this book as a ARC, but my opinion is mine, honest and not influenced by anything.

I really enjoyed this book. Had a little bit of humor, and a good sense of characters. And who could not fall in love with Lydia? I really loved that she was such a good friend to Amber, her best friend for so long. Even after the last dragon shifter, Ian, entered their lives she still never forgot her friend. The best part of the book was the way Lydia tried never to let Ian get the best of her. After she discovers what she is and that it's up to her to close the gates of hell, she has to team up with Ian to keep the demons in hell. They soon discover they are more compatible than they thought. A lot of action, some laughter, A few scary moments, and a HEA.

When Lydia and Amber are locked in the freezer by robbers, Lydia has no idea how her life is going to change. They are rescued by Ian Orkney, a recent regular(not a favorite) at the restaurant and that is when things get strange. Lydia finds out that not only do demons exist they want to kill her. Luckily there's a dragon shifter that is sworn to protect her even if he doesn't like humans. But what happens when the dragon decides he needs a mate? Ugh... mates, Lydia doesn't like that word.

Lydia is a manager of a restaurant. One night, some men with dead eyes grabbed her and the chef and threw them into the stand up freezer. Ian, an obnoxious customer, came to their rescue and vanquished the demons. He then spirited the two women away to his penthouse for safety. There, he revealed not only his secret but also the heritage of Lydia of which she was unaware. Banding together, Ian & Lydia join forces to fight the demons. Lots of exciting battles and fascinating turn of events. Great imagery. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book. Five stars.

I read the ARC and here is my honest review.

This book is about a dragon shifter and a human who falls in the middle of a lot of explosions and she doesn´t know why or what is happening.

I really like the concept of the story but I think that it could have been written better. The caracters are ok but you don´t have enough information to know them well enough. The story doesn´t really flow it more like pieces of story and that makes it harder to read. I would have liked it of there was more book to make it easier to read.

It´s a fun read for a lazy afternoon but it misses the dept.

ARC - I voluntarily offered to review this book with no obligations and my opinions are honest!
Lydia was in a food coma, when she was attacked by demons.
Demons you say. Impossible.
It seems that she was the only one that could keep the gates of hell closed.
Ian did not know why that demons wanted Lydia.
Later, he found out that she is a Paladin. She is a protector just like him.
She was also his mate.
Danger, action, romance, love, etc...

This is the story of a dragon shifter, the last of his kind, and a Paladin, also the last of her kind. He detests the humans he is sworn to protect, and she detests him, but together, with trust and love, they can help each other come to grips with their pasts and heal so that they may have a future.

A very well written story that has humor, action, sex, turmoil and grief and a HEA.

I received and ARC of this book and am voluntarily leaving this review. This is my honest opinion.

Another great quick read by Ryder. This time the shifter is a Dragon and he's the guardian to the gates of hell.

Ian becomes a regular guest at the restaurant that Lydia manages at. He has the name of Mister Asshole. One night after work Lydia and her friend Amber find themselves being locked in the freezer at work by men who want who knows what.

Both ladies are saved by Ian. And things flow on from there.

The book ends with a HEA.
