Scandalous #3

Harper And The One Night Stand

Rate this book
A few too many cocktails in paradise, and I woke up in someone else’s bed. My ex-boyfriend’s cousin’s bed, to be exact.

Huge mistake.

Nate and I agreed it wouldn’t happen again. We didn’t want to hurt Brody. Only it did happen, repeatedly, until I finally found the courage to walk away.

But I couldn’t ignore the temptation, and I soon found myself back in his bed — or on his floor — stealing secret kisses and forbidden touches, sneaking around behind everyone’s backs.

I tried so hard to resist Nate’s charms, but my resolve crumbled. How could I not be swept off my feet by water towers in the rain and deep confessions on the beach?

The last thing we want is to hurt anyone, but it is out of our control. And there isn’t a thing I can do except give him my heart and hope he keeps it safe… regardless of the consequences.

R. Linda is back with her 3rd book in the Scandalous series called “Harper and the One Night Stand”. I really enjoyed this book for it is full of angst, emotions, passions and action. Harper and Nate have been hooking up in secret. One night in Fiji turned into more. But after three months together, Harper broke things off because things were becoming too complicated. Harper had been dating Brody, Nate’s cousin, but it didn’t work out. She had moved on but Brody hasn’t and wants another chance. He wants Harper back! Thing is Brody and Nate are cousin…Harper is totally conflicted. She doesn’t know what to do. Now Harper and Nate are trying to just be friends to protect Brody and his feelings so he would never know they hooked up. Only problem is, Nate and Harper’s feelings for one another are too intense. Are Nate and Harper forget the consequences and finally give in to their feelings and take a risk and have a relationship or will they let that chance pass them by to save Brody’s feelings? Only way to find out is to read R. Linda’s 3rd book in this fantastic series. All the books in the series have interconnected characters that play a significant role in each story. I cannot wait to read the upcoming 4th book in this series. It looks to be amazing!!

First of all, I think it’s important to say that this series should be read in order for the reader to enjoy fully and to understand all the stories happening in the background. It makes the read so much better. I started reading them as stands ones but got back and started over and it become so much better.

Although I didn’t quite love this book as the previous two, I enjoyed the ride and seeing the crew again. I love that group. They’re the best.
All the questions you have during this series are answered in the books, that’s why it’s good to read it in order.

Anyway, I enjoyed it a lot and I’m looking forward to continuing the series and diving into Kenzie’s story.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. I couldn't understand how Harper and Nate could not help themselves, well if you wouldn't start from the beginning than we wouldn't have an issue. Pretty up as much as you want it was wrong. Brody was Nate's cousin whom he was close too so she shouldn't have gone there. And Nate you were wrong dude, he was your cousin there are many fish in the sea look elsewhere.

Harper and the One Night Stand is the third book in the Scandalous Series but can absolutely be read as a standalone.

The reader was introduced to Nate in Indie and the Brother's Best Friend, book 2, and now the reader gets Nate's story in all his sexy hotness! One night of passion in Fiji has led to a secret hookup, feelings, hurt, disappointment and hopefully as every reader wants, a HEA.

Nate and Harper hooked up in Fiji, with what was supposed to be one night. These two cannot get enough of each other and they continue to hook up on the down low for another month before they break it off, too worried that Nate's cousin and Harper's ex-boyfriend Brody will get hurt by their actions. What Nate and Harper don't realize is that this "split" will be hard because they have genuine feelings for each other, feelings that won't just go away. While Indie tries to set Nate up and Harper tries to move on, both Harper and Nate keep coming together despite all the "reasons" why they shouldn't. Do Harper and Nate say screw Brody's feelings and do what their hearts tell them or do they continue to deny the intense feelings that they have? You need to read to find out.

This book has a little bit of everything and will keep you entertained and laughing throughout the entire story. I truly loved reading it and the fact that I got to see an update from so many characters from book 2 was a bonus for me!

One night stand ending with LOVE

>>
Just a few spoilers <<<

https://ladiikeiii.wordpress.com/2018...

You know I like this one with Nate and Harper. Their story was interesting and kept you wanting more, and wanting you to see what will happen next. I figured that Brody would be upset, but I cannot wait to read Brody and Audrey story. I was hoping for a book about Brody finding love too since he couldn’t get that in Harper. It’s funny how Brody didn’t know what was going on with his best friend I mean with his cousin and his ex-girlfriend. I mean it was so many signs he missed, but he saw the signs when it came to Indie and Lincoln but not Nate and Harper. I like how Harper uncle and Aung and even her brother approve of Nate because they knew he was a good guy. We need real men like these men in this book we do in the real world. Good. The book I wasn’t disappointed in it at all. I was rooting for Harper and Nate…

They start out friends, but there are some spark and became more, I did not like Nate's cousin, she was not nice or Brody, there is some secrets and some twist, then everything explode. OK predictable read.

Nate and Harper met at his parents vow renewal thanks to Kenzie, and one night left them very friendly. But she was Brody's ex and Nate was cousins with Brody.

Their relationship couldnt go farther. But they couldnt stay away....

This is a star crossed lovers sort of story that has a HEA. It sucked that Brody got hurt but I am glad they finally came out of hiding.

With this series there is always more going on- I cannot imagine what Audrey is going through or what Harper faced. Tragic.

This story has some cute chemistry.... I liked it.

Great read

I loved Harper and Nate's story. Sweet, yet emotional and a bit angsty at times. LOVED seeing all the other characters, as usual, and getting more of their stories. Both Nate and Harper could've handled the whole Brody situation way better in my opinion, but hopefully Brody gets his own book too and we're able to see him get his HEA...maybe with Audrey??

All in all this was a great read and a fantastic addition to a must-read series!

Sure they were happy in their relationship but fuck them. They are inconsiderate. If they actually wanted to save their friend's feelings they would have told him right away. Oh and spoiler he finds out when they have a fight and admitted their love right in front of him. And, when he runs out here is what it says:

“'Touching, really. All that friend talk. But I think you might have just pissed off another one,' Johnny said.

'Screw the consequences, right?' Nate asked, threading his fingers through mine.

'Screw everything.' I nodded.

He was totally worth the risk and the fall."

The entire time they were sneaking around literally like 10 feet away from Brody (the guy in love with the heroine). And the hero, Nate, knew it and didn't say a single thing. Terrible friends. Yes, they should be happy together but that doesn't mean fuck all to everyone else. If I was in love with someone and following them around for 6 months just to find out my cousin was having sex with them for that entire time in the next room I would be heartbroken. They should have just been mature and told him. Really got on my nerves. And I get that it's the trope. However, the way they acted self-righteous as if not telling Brody would help him when it was just selfish. And although they "cared" about his feelings so much to the point they didn't tell him, when he actually finds out and gets upset, they don't care. At least have the decency to take responsibility and tell him yourself. Extremely disappointing the way it was handled.

They used him as a pawn in their relationship. The heroine always used Brody to make Nate jealous. Literally she agreed to go on dates with him and when Nate got jealous she blew Brody off.

oh and after Nate leaves to chase after his cousin,
"I smiled, even though Brody was out there hurting. I couldn’t help it; I was happy. Nate loved me."

What the fuck. Yes, you can be happy about getting with Nate. But be a good person maybe? Maybe don't smile even though someone just had a double betrayal that you participated in. Wow uh... did not like this.

OH and then right after Brody leaves angrily in his car. They laugh and have sex. Really shows how much they "cared about his feelings".

Brody leaves, right after they have sex, right after is the epilogue. In the epilogue
"I felt guilty for the way things happened, and I knew it was hard for him to see us together, but I also knew in time he’d move on and get over it."

How fucking sweet. Just saying, when you betray someone and even if you know they'd rather be alone, you still make a fucking effort to make it up. If you just "give them time" it is like you think they're overreacting and you're waiting for them to just forgive you when you didn't do anything to make it up. And them being together wasn't wrong. But them doing it right near him, knowing that Brody was in love with Harper, and not telling him anything was the worst thing they could've done.

**AMAZING STORY & SERIES**

R. Linda did it AGAIN! R. Linda's phenomenal way of creating novels from experiences we've all been through is one reason why I can't resist diving into her books! Each character and their plot are incredibly relatable, it's impossible to not imagine yourself as someone in her stories. Her way with words is addictive and beautiful. I want to reread this story and its series over and over again! I'm obsessed with Ryder and Linc, but Nate...Get ready, readers!

Harper's story has evolved with the series and its characters, taking the circumstances and romances a few steps deeper, and each page is outrageously addictive. I devoured this book and can't wait for more!

This is the third book in the Scandalous Series, so be sure to read "Bailey and the Bad Boy" and "Indie and the Brother's Best Friend" as well! This, and the other two in the Scandalous Series, is an absolute MUST READ!!

This is a well written, cute contemporary romance. The main characters are Harper and Nate. The chemistry between them is strong. However, Harper is the ex girlfriend of Nates' cousin. He is also Nates' co-worker and roommate. Brody (Nates' cousin) still has feelings for Harper and is a really nice guy.

While the premise of this story is good and the writing is good as well, there are a few things that I, personally, did not like. The first is, this was not a one night stand. In any sense of the word. They knew each other before they fell into bed.

Second, they say they don't want to hurt Brody but they are so reckless and careless about it, that it's hard to believe. They did everything except for rub Harpers panties in his face, basically.

The third thing is very minor and not the authors fault. I did not realize that this book was part of a series. This is the third book I believe. While, you can read it as a standalone, there are a lot of inside jokes and details about the friends, that would have been clear had I read the other books. I felt like a lone person in a party of friends and I just didn't have a clue what they were talking about. I would definitely read the first two books before reading this one. I would recommend this author and I plan to read the other books in her series.

Scandalous Series book three and is a standalone in the series and can be enjoyed by itself, but I suggest reading the other books first or after you read this story. This is my first book by this author, that I loved, but I do need to go back and read the other two books to tie into these secondary characters that played a close roll in this book and story. Bailey/Ryder, Lincoln/Indie plus some other characters stories continue in this book and their stories and men all sounded so hot that it is hard to chose just one that you will love the best.
The intense passion and chemistry between Nate and Harper are undeniable and while they try to do the “right thing” and not hurt Brody, who is Harper’s ex and Nate’s cousin by not starting a relationship and keeping it to “just one night” actually are hurting themselves and wasting time spent is how I see this. I get the “right thing”, but it was a couple years ago that she dated Brody and yes, it would be odd and hurtful, if it was spoken the hurt may have been easier than what they had to torture themselves with. I say, “screw the consequences” and let the zing occur.
The Love Shack hilarious and loved that these band of characters loved to torture each other with details that they knew would annoy their family/friends. I loved that while we see the secondary characters stories continue that we weren’t really left out of things, well OK some if we didn’t read their story, but we can follow them just fine and enjoy how all the relationships tie together. Plus, it ties into the current story and Brody/Nate’s job also bring forth a current story. I have a feeling with where Brody may be headed and if I am correct it is going to be a good one with this crazy bunch of family/friends. You can tell that each story has its own heartbreak, but the attraction between all these characters show that they care about hurting other people’s feelings and want to do the right things. Let’s stick with while it’s the right thing to do, sometimes doing the wrong thing is right!

Every single book in this series has been a worthwhile afternoon read. I am mixed on my feelings about Harper though. She has a really tough backstory, but it isn’t reflected in her character throughout the novel. I think that a girl who had gone through some of the things that she had gone through would have some quirks, or things that would bother her that wouldn’t bother a person who had a non-traumatizing childhood. However, she seems to be a normal girl, even though most of the trauma occurred around 5-6 years ago. There was only even one scene where she showed that she was affected by any sort of bad memories. I know that romance novels that focus on this might be depressing, but I think that it would have given her character a bit more depth and description.

Nate also didn’t have that much character to me. However, I did enjoy reading about his relationship with Harper as it grew from just being a One-Night Stand to much more. This book definitely showed a new, yet realistic relationship. Both characters had their flaws, but both were able to find love in their own ways.

My favorite part of this book was the fact that all the characters from previous books still made their own appearances. We got to see how all of their stories had moved on, and how each character had grown since their books. We even got to see how the “villain” from the first story had changed.

The pacing of this story was perfect as there wasn’t a dull moment. The cover looks amazing, as I am sure you have noticed, and there were no editing errors that I noticed.

Overall, this story was definitely a short and sweet romance read, and I would recommend it to anyone who loves great contemporary romance series.

There is one thing that i can say and that’s everytime i pick up an r Linda book i am never disappointed i can’t believe this is only her third book and her writing is excatly the way i like it, innocent with a fantastic story line and just so easy to read and you fall in love with all the characters.

I must admit i didn’t really like the way these two main characters got together it really annoyed me but that’s what makes me love the book more i was emotionally invested and really felt for Brody. I felt so heartbroken for him and hopefully he gets a happy ending at some point.

I really loved Nate’s and Harpers characters even from earlier books in this series. You wouldn’t have know from the other books that Harper had such a bad upbringing but that’s what i love about these series finding out about the other characters in their own book and the anticipation of waiting for there book.

Nate was funny and your typical guy picking up what girls he can and not expecting to have such a connection with a harper and the fact that Brody was his cousin and Harpers ex boyfriend it was hard to even start this relationship. I loved Nate though he was determined and ready to fight for Harper.

That’s the thing i love about these types of books is riding the waves with these characters and seeing how they all grow.

I loved the fact that jack was back even for a little bit but he just makes me laugh every time he speaks

Another epic book in this series absolutely loved it big 5 stars

Oh and now i am super excited for the next book hopefully comes out soon.

I found these books and this author through a Kindle Unlimited free trial last month. Having enjoyed the first two, I was excited to request and get a hold of Harper's story.

For the most part, this book had everything I expected from the first two. The tight-knit group of characters felt as strong as ever and there were laughs and heartbreak along the way.

Harper and Nate were a cute couple. Their story did hold my attention and it was a sweet romance. However, I did feel it took too long for everything to happen. The sneaking around is fine to a point, but it hindered the chemistry once things got past 50% and the characters were still doing the same things. Something bad is inevitable at that point and I questioned the characters' intelligence.

Moreover, it meant too much happened in the end and too fast. Like I said, for the most part I enjoyed this book, but then it ended all of a sudden and let me down. I don't think the ending gave enough satisfaction and resolution. I felt there were a lot of scenes missed out I would have liked to see before the epilogue. For example seeing Audrey, more with Brody, stuff like that. In places this book didn't feel fully fleshed out and it left a lot of lose ends that were only given a couple of sentences to sum them up, which isn't satisfying.

Overall, I did enjoy this book, but the ending ruined it for me. It's still a good series, but I think the other two books were better.

Harper And The One Night Stand is the first book that I've read by R. Linda, and I absolutely loved her talented writing style a ton! I'll try to give a brief description without giving too much away. See, Harper had been dating Brody, but when it didn't work out, she moved on, but Brody wasn't quite as moved on. However, she hooked up with his cousin, Nate, and it was so great, that it kept going for a couple of months, until she stopped it because she felt guilty. So she & Nate tried to be friends, but their feelings wouldn't be denied so they kept ending up in bed together. Which begs the question, will they finally give in to those feelings despite the hurt that Brody may feel? This story wasn't romantic suspense, and yet, I was on the edge of my seat the whole time. I felt like Nate & Harper were perfect for each, and there was no denying that they lit the sheets up during sexy times, but I knew that Brody's feelings would be hurt leaving my heart racing like crazy. So the drama between sexy times was great, especially with all the conflicted feelings. And I truly loved the cast of entertaining secondaries which added a big humor factor to keep me laughing, and now I must read the previous books in this series because I LOVE these people that are so close! I truly enjoyed this story, and am excited to read more by this awesome author! HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

This is the first book that I have read by R. Linda and it was quite enjoyable. However, I do recommend that you read the first two books in the series prior to starting Harper and the One Night Stand, as sometimes there would be a reference to what happened in the past which I think would be found in the previous books in the series. Overall, the book is pretty well written and the characters are easily likable and I found myself enjoying the book.

The plot line is definitely plausible, one too many drinks during a vacation and you accidentally sleep with your ex's cousin ... We have all been there ... right? If not, then Harper and Nate will take you on the adventure of what is like sneaking around the ones you love, trying to do the "right" thing, even though it feels so wrong. The chemistry between Harper and Nate is so well written and feels so real, that there is an instant connection between the two. It is very easy to see how the two have fallen for each other and cannot stay apart even though they try.

I like the way that R. Linda foreshadows of what is to come in the next book in the series. Linda's writing is spot on and makes for an enjoyable read. For anyone who is looking for new series to read, the Scandalous Series by R. Linda will prove to be a good addition to your To-Be-Read Shelf. Make sure you pick up a copy of Harper and the One - Night Stand today!

Screw the Consequences!
4.5⭐️
An emotional story between friends. Sometimes the person you shouldn’t want becomes the only one you can’t stay away from.

Harper and Nate have been hooking up in secret. One night in Fiji turned into more. But after three months together, they broke it off. Things are just complicated.

Harper had dated Brody but it didn’t work out. She’s over it, but Brody isn’t. He wants Harper back! But Brody and Nate are cousins. Now Harper and Nate are trying to just be friends to save Brody’s feelings! If they could just be friends, Brody never needs to know.

But sometimes you just have to say, “Screw the consequences,” because being apart is just not an option!

I love all these characters in this series. It was great to catch up with Bailey & Ryder, along with Indie & Linc!

All the books in the series have interconnected characters that play a significant role in each story. Harper and Nate’s story was just so special and beautiful. A love so strong, you just couldn’t walk away. And Nate’s profession of love was swoon worth!

So before I start this review, I would strongly encourage you to read the first two book in the series. I did not and there were some references from the other books that I knew nothing about. I will definitely be reading those before book #4 comes out. I'm excited for that one!
Onto to Harper and Nate.. I liked both characters. I liked how one night stand turned into 3 months before the freaking out happened but the break wasn't long enough. They needed each other as friends after an incident happened. Friends turned into something more and then it was "screw the consequences" with them. They didn't care who knew but still wanted to protect Brody. There's drama, oh so much drama, but thankfully the focus still stays on Harper and Nate. I was so thankful for that. Things don't turn out like they plan but at least they are together. This was a great book and you can tell they are a great supportive family despite what they have gone thru.

Third book from this author and I'm still loving the series. Poor Audrey. What that girl has to face and what she's already gone through is heartbreaking to the 10th degree. I do see a bit of hope for her though and they obvious bond between her and Brody, can't wait to see if that goes anywhere. As for our two main characters for this book, Nate and Harper, what a journey those two took me on. Their is one of desperate love, both of them fighting against and for their feelings simultaneously, which has got to be exhausting and confusing. I do feel bad for Brody in the end but I can't help but cheer for Nate and Harper. Plus, something tells me Brody won't be down, or single, for long. Soo looking forward to reading Kenzie's book next. Been waiting to hear about her story since book 1. Well done to the author.

I absolutely love this series. Each book could be read as standalone's, but the characters from each book do make appearances in every story, so I do recommend that you read them in order.
Nate and Harper are great together. They tried the whole just friends thing, and I could understand why they tried to have that type of relationship as they worried about hurting other people's feelings. But their attraction was a wonderful thing to read. What they were feeling for each other ended up by being what they both decided they couldn't shy away from.
There is a great sub story as well, and is quite heartbreaking.
I cannot wait to read the next book in the series.

One drunk night in paradise leads to Harper having a one-night stand with her ex-boyfriend's cousin. But what happens in Fiji doesn't stay in Fiji, because the one-night stand follows Harper and Nate home, and ends up causing all kinds of problems. Not only can they not keep away from one another, but Brody wants Harper back.

It's messy. It's complicated. It's funny. And the premise is relatable enough that I didn't feel like the plot was over-the-top.

This is the first book I've read by R. Linda, and it was quite enjoyable. Harper And The One-Night Stand is a standalone, but there were references to the previous books in the Scandalous Series that I didn't completely understand since I have not read those stories. I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review.
