Ophelia Alcantara Dimalanta was a Filipino poet, editor, author, and academician. Dimalanta published several books of poetry, criticism, drama, and prose and edited various literary anthologies. In 1999, she received Southeast Asia’s highest literary honor, the S.E.A. Write Award.
I think this book contains the basic FAQs a starting poet or reader asks about the craft. The answers are from actual poets, Ophelia A. Dimalanata and Gemino Abad, so you know they speak with experience and expertise in the subject. They also quote some literary critics and provide example poems to support their points. I'd consider this a must-read to anyone who wants to start getting their hands dirty with poetry.
What I cannot forgive about the book itself is that it's peppered with typos, and this makes reading it too spicy to the eyes. I understand that these are transcriptions of a forum. But there is an editor who supposedly read it through before it goes to print.
