Building Billions - Part 1

Rate this book
By USA Today Bestselling Author, Lexy Timms. One night love affair It was only supposed to be one night. Ashley’s just a low step on the ladder of her company’s success. The company party was always a big to-do. Jimmy Sheldon, the CEO and found of Big Steps always made sure his employees had a good time. He should, he worked them hard, expected more than they thought they could give, but he always rewarded their efforts. It’s what made him a great boss and the owner of a million-dollar company. He knew how to make things work. And boy, did he. A few too many cosmo’s and Ashley hit the dance floor. She forgot how much fun it was to dance. After a few songs, her years of competitive dance routines came back to her and she had everyone trying to move like her. Even boss-man Jimmy. And he had some decent dance moves himself. From the dance floor to the hotel room, Ashley swore they’d both forget what happened in the morning and go back to their steps on the ladder. Except, no one ever forgets a hit song… Building Part 1 Part 2 Part 3

This was a little slow going. I liked Jimmy's character and I really liked Ashley. For being so rich he is very very level headed. Ashley seems like such a go with the flow character I really like these two together and am looking forward to the next 2 parts of this series.

There was no end

AsI have said numerous times I HATE BOOKS THAT LEAVE YOU HANGING until you buy another book to read telling you how it ends.

Annoying and Not Believable

The female lead is self-effacing and not confident in her skills (that’s a first, right? No). The male lead, despite being the founder and CEO of his multi-million dollar company has goofy ideas about the public’s expectations of his need to show commitment to a female partner. So he pays a woman to be on his arm at public events and then can’t get rid of her so pretends to be married by wearing a ring (sure, that makes sense, right? No.)

There are the usual communication mishaps due to making assumptions (very frustrating! Why don’t people just talk to each other?).

And then, to make matters worse—it’s a cliff hanger! Wish I’d never started it.

There are few books I don't enjoy but this is one of them. It took a while to get into the meat of the plot, and just about the time I got interested, I was told to BUY PART 2!! Not one issue was resolved in the first book. It caught me off guard. And as a retired geriatric nurse, I was deeeply disturbed that the author did not research the details of the symptoms a true Alzheimer's patient experiences. Her mother supposedly had it but her memory would come and go. That never happens with an Alzheimers patient. They do not have good days and bad days - they just slowly decline. I would not recommend this book.

I did not realize this book was a cliffhanger when I read it. So, if like me, yourenit a fan of them (unless you have the next book as well), be warned! I enjoyed the beginning of this story and the pace of the book will have you wanting to read it in one sitting! Ashley and Jimmy’s romance is a fun ride even if we are left up in the air on the roller-coaster! You’ll love this book, and I can’t wait for book 2 so I can complete the ride!

I was provided with an ARC of this book and I am providing my honest review. I have received no compensation of any kind from any source for this review.

Can...

Can we talk AHHH-MAZING! A millionaire with a gold digging "arm candy" and a working girl trying to survive while caring for her ill mother, add up to an intriguing tale! Not everything is coming up Roses. Deception and a bit of suspense have slipped into the mix! Waiting for book 2!

This is a book about a billionaire & a girl he finds in his accounting department! You keep thinking you know where the book is going and then things change and it goes somewhere else! She’s great with numbers, dancing - he is too & has an ailing mother suffering from Alzheimer’s! Overall, I would recommend this book for a good light read!

Ashley is the typical nerd and lets herself go and have fun for one night. Turns out that fun includes her boss – not just her boss, but the owner of the company.
Jimmy is the owner and plays as hard as he works. He thinks it’s just one night with Ashley, but he can’t get her out of his head.

Backfire

I admit Ashley, smart, carrying and can hold her own. Jimmy thinks !money can remove his past. I was surprised of the arrangement he had with a woman for public appearances. As expecited, it back fired. He's good with business, but nothing else.

Good

This was a well written story. The characters were great. It kept you wondering what would happen next, but I wish they would earn you when it is a cliffhanger

Warning: Cliffhanger

The book was a quick, fun read. Then, it ended. In a cliffhanger. Now, let's see how much the next two books are...

Good Book

I like the character Ashley but Jimmy does not fit the role of owning a billion dollar company. But that didn’t distract enough to not like the book

Note: I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. All of the opinions are my own and this did not affect my review in any way.

I received a copy of this book and I decided to read it while I was in a slump. Romance novels like this are easy and fast to get through so I knew it was the right decision to read it. As I have mentioned before romance novels that do something new are hard to find, this was no exception. Building Billions was a fun romance novel to read however it did nothing new for me to become a new favorite.

In Building Billions we follow Ashely, who after a one night stand with his boss swore they’d both forget what happened in the morning and go back to their steps on the ladder. Except, no one ever forgets a hit song…

Building Billions was just a middle of the road book for me. This book is filled with the typical romance books clichés that make the experience fun but not unique. The characters are well developed and I specifically liked Ashely and how smart she is. Jimmy for me just felt delusional and honestly I didn’t believe a man with so little “streets” smart could build a billion dollar company.

The pace is fast and new things are happening in every chapter. The book ended in a cliff hanger that made me want to pick up the next one. I am confident I will enjoy the rest of the series but by no means will this become a favorite series.

Overall solid smutty corporate romance novel.

A really good story line. Loved the Characters they interacted well - Nina came over as an Ice Queen, so self absorbed. Well written. I am now starting Part two. Wish that these books came in a boxed set though.

Wow.

Just Wow.

I'm positive I must have read different book than everyone else here who has rated this book 4 stars and up, because it's just NOT possible.

DNF at 20%

I don't even know where to start. The writing was horrible. I mean, seriously. It was so flat I felt like I was reading computer code. Actually, computer code would have been more interesting and compelling. There is ZERO chemistry between the H/h and besides them having a one night stand at the very beginning of the book, neither of them showed any kind of feelings or affection for the other in their thoughts or anything. The h was horrified that she slept with her boss, and the H basically dismissed our h after he slept with her. Hell, he even went to go pick up his 'fake' girlfriend at the airport (he's been with her for a year and its more to look good for the press and public by having a beautiful woman on his arm. give me a break). Anyways, when he goes to pick her up, he was intent on sleeping with her even though he kept talking about what a bitch she was becoming and saying all kinds of nasty things about her. Oh, and his reason for not breaking up with the fake gf? Because it would 'look bad' to the public.

omg. Seriously. Wtf? If this was a real romance novel and if he was really smitten by our h, shouldn't he not want to be with the fake gf anymore? he dosen't even seek out the h after they sleep together and she runs out later that night when he's passed out in bed.

Oh, and did I mention that the H/h have sex the first time when they're both totally smashed? And the sex scene was just poorly, poorly written.

The writing felt like a teen was writing the book. I seriously do not understand why this story has so many positive reviews. I can only imagine that everyone else was drunk when they were reading it, lol, j/k. But seriously, wtf??

if this is any indication of how this author writes, with flat, emotionless writing, I won't be reading any other books.

You have been warned.
