Byomkesh Bakshi ki Rahasyamayi Kahaniyan
सारदेंदु बंद्योपाध्याय की विशिष्टता उनके जासूसी लेखन के अतिरिक्त उनकी अद्वितीय लेखन-शैली के साथ-साथ उनके चरित्रों का सूक्ष्म जीवंत चित्रण है। बीसवीं सदी के प्रारंभ के बंगाल में लेखक और पाठक समान रूप से अपराध और जासूसी साहित्य को नीची निगाहों से देखते थे। सारदेंदु बंद्योपाध्याय ने पहली बार उस लेखन को सम्मानीय स्थान दिलाया। इसका एक बड़ा कारण यह था कि उनके पूर्व के लेखक पंचकोरी दे और दिनेंद्र कुमार अंग्रेजी के जासूसी लेखक आर्थर कोनान, डोएल, एडगर एलन पो, जी.के. चेस्टरसन तथा अगाथा क्रिस्टी से प्रभावित होकर लिखते थे, जबकि सारदेंदु के चरित्र और स्थान अन्य जासूसी उपन्यासों के विपरीत, भारतीय मूल और स्थल के परिवेश में जीते हैं। उनके लेखन का विनोदी स्वभाव पाठक को अनायास कथा के दौरान गुदगुदाता रहता है। ब्योमकेश का साहित्य न केवल अभूतपूर्व जासूसी साहित्य है बल्कि सभी समय और काल में, समाज के सभी वर्गों के युवाओं और वृद्धों में समान रूप से सदैव लोकप्रिय बना रहा है। पाठक इन रहस्य भरी कहानियों को उनके जीवंत लेखन के लिए, अंत जानने के बावजूद, बार-बार पढ़ने के लिए लालायित रहता है। किसी भी लोकप्रिय साहित्य में यह एक अद्वितीय उपलब्धि मानी जाती है और यही उपलब्धि सारदेंदु के ब्योमकेश बक्शी साहित्य को सत्यजीत राय के प्रसिद्ध उपन्यास ‘फेलूदा के कारनामे’ के समान हमारे समय के ‘क्लासिक’ का स्थान दिलाती है।

He wrote historical fiction like Kaler Mandira, GourMollar (initially named as Mouri Nodir Teere), Tumi Sandhyar Megh, Tungabhadrar Teere (all novels), Chuya-Chandan, Maru O Sangha (later made into a Hindi film named Trishangni) and stories of the unnatural with the recurring character Baroda. Besides, he wrote many songs and poems.
Awards: 'Rabindra Puraskar' in 1967 for the novel 'Tungabhadrar Tirey'. 'Sarat Smriti Purashkar' in 1967 by Calcutta University.

इस किताब में सत्यअन्वेषी ब्योमकेश बक्शी की पांच कहानियां है - सत्यअन्वेषी, ग्रामोफोन पिन का रहस्य, तारंतुला का जहर, वसीयत का जंजाल और विपदा का संहार।
इन कहानियों में ब्योमकेश अपने मित्र अजीत (जिससे वो पहली कहानी में मिलते है) के साथ रहस्य और अपराध के मामले सुलझाते हैं। भारतीय परिवेश में रचित जासूसी कहानियों में सत्यजीत रे की 'फेलूदा' और सरदिंदु बंदोपाध्याय के 'ब्योमकेश' अनूठा स्थान प्राप्त कर चुके हैं। शायद इसका कारण इनकी लोकप्रियता ही है जो इन्हें समकालीन बंगला साहित्य में स्थान दिलाती है। 90 के दशक में रजित कपूर अभिनीत टीवी सीरियल 'ब्योमकेश बक्शी' अभी भी कई लोगों के जहन में ताजा है।

सारदेंदु बंदोपाध्याय ने पहली बार बंगाली समाज में जासूसी लेखक को सम्माननीय स्थान दिलाया था. इसका मूल कारण यह था कि उन्होंने किसी विदेशी जासूसी लेखक की नकल न करके भारतीय मूल, स्थान और परिवेश में अपने पात्रों को जीवित किया. उनका गढ़ा पात्र ब्योमकेश बक्शी आज भारतीय जासूसी साहित्य में मील का पत्थर बन चुका है. सत्यजीत राय के प्रसिद्ध उपन्यास ‘फेलूदा के कारनामे’ की तरह ही सारदेंदु का ब्योमकेश बक्शी साहित्य भी क्लासिक साहित्य में जगह बना चुका है.
राजेन्द्र कुमार ‘राज’ ने संग्रह की कहानियों का अनुवाद इतना अच्छा किया है कि ये मूलतः हिंदी की कहानियां ही बन जाती हैं. पाठक इन रहस्यभरी कहानियों को उनके जीवंत वर्णन के लिए, अंत जानने के बावजूद, बार-बार पढ़ने के लिए लालायित हो सकते हैं.

🕸️As a child, I watched the drama of Byomkesh Bakshi.I liked it because it had mystical.I used to wait for this serial to appear on T.v.And used to watch it very fervently.I used to think that I will solve the mystery of this murder. And in the end what I thought would be the killer. But it did not happen.There was someone else.I used to watch it with equal quality every time.Today, when I am reading this book, I feel much better than that.

If Byomkesh is Indian Sherlock then Ajeet is his Watson. These stories are ingenious.
ब्योमकेश ने कहा, ‘‘और उनका नैतिक चरित्र?’’ मैंने उत्तर दिया, ‘‘जिस प्रकार अपने उस शराबी भानजे के बारे में उनकी नफरत देखी, मैं तो कहूँगा कि वे सीधे तथा सच्चे इनसान हैं। फिर उनकी उम्र भी हो गई है। उन्होंने विवाह भी नहीं किया। संभव है, जवानी में उन्होंने कुछ प्यार-व्यार की हरकतें की हों, लेकिन उन सबके लिए उनकी अब अवस्था नहीं है।’’ ब्योमकेश हँस पड़ा, ‘‘उनकी अवस्था न भी हो तो क्या उन बातों ने उन पर कोई रोक लगाई है? जोड़ासांको के जिस घर में आशु बाबू रोज शाम को संगीत सुनने जाते हैं, वह एक स्त्री का घर है। दरअसल यह कहना कि वह उस स्त्री का घर है, गलत है, क्योंकि आशुबाबू उसका भाड़ा भरते हैं। उस घर को संगीत संगोष्ठी स्कूल कहना भी शायद गलत होगा, क्योंकि संगोष्ठी बनाने के लिए कम-से-कम दो व्यक्तियों की दरकार होती है। यहाँ तो वे केवल एक ही है।’’

I wanted to return to Hindi or Indian Sahitya, and Byomkesh Bakshi is a classic that never gets old. How long I’d waited to read this after watching the movie! The sleuthing was just as fascinating as I’d expected. Originally written in Bangla, I read the Hindi version and thoroughly enjoyed it. The writing left me intrigued and eager to explore more of Byomkesh Bakshi's mysteries.
Byomkesh—the सत्यान्वेशी or truth-seeker—solves smart and intriguing mysteries set against the beautiful backdrop of Kolkata, with sharp thinking and attention to detail. These tales transport you back to the old Bharat of the 1930s–40s, yet the stories still feel exciting today. A must-read for anyone who loves clever detective stories!

A decent book. Some of the stories are kind of predictable but the major problem was that the author kept over explaining on how the crimes were committed. Also, some of the dialogues seemed like really lazy writing.
Kids will love this book. I'm new to reading, I wish had read these stories in my childhood. I certainly would've enjoyed them more!

Good read
Nice book, good stories and gripping way of writing. Justified way of investigation, in some stories there is hint also for reader to analyse and identity the criminal - in that way writer is also bringing reader in investigation.

I have seen the serial on Doordarshan in 90s and it is one if my most favourite serial. I loved to read the book but unfortunately I can't find all storis if Byomkesh Bakshi in market in Hindi or English.

Not as intense as it sounds
There are 4 stories in total but the narration is so weak that reader loses interest. Dialogues and hindi used could have been much better.
