Whatever It Takes

Rate this book
When Quinn Montgomery leaves the horrors of her past behind her, she never expects to run straight into the arms of a blue-eyed cowboy. Sneaking into the stables and getting caught in a life-threatening fire was never part of the plan. And neither was falling in love with the man who saved her life, Brody Parker.

The two share an undeniable connection, and slowly Quinn begins to open up about her past. Putting her trust in the wrong person has burned her before, so when Brody asks her to stay at the ranch, she can't help but wonder if she’s about to make another bad decision by staying. A decision that could hurt everyone she’s come to care for.

Will Quinn choose to run from the past that threatens to catch up with her? Or will she stay and fight, sacrificing whatever it takes for the man who sets her heart on fire?

The third book in the series and my absolute favorite, Whatever it Takes is a show stopper. A fairytale love but it's not your old run of the mill Cinderella Story. A hot cowboy with a great sense a humor and a beautiful shy girl who won't take any crap. The passion and chemistry between Brody and Quinn is phenomenal. An incredible book to get lost in and I highly recommend it.

This was a sweet love story that I truly enjoyed. My heart hurt for Quinn and while I loved Brody in the most part (especially how protective he was towards her), I did want to smack him upside the head in the beginning for his stubbornness and for that little scene with the former lover right after meeting heroine. Oh well..... I still enjoyed it though!

Whatever it takes, Laura Carr. 4* 28/3/18

This was my first L.Farr novel, and what an introduction.
I went in totally blind, I'd heard of Laura, but had yet to open a book!
I liked the way the story flowed, the characters were good, and I liked how they grew into themselves.
Quinn was a sweet girl, who had been having a hard, tough time, and thought she was being taken care of by her mother's husband. Sadly people are not what they seem.
Brody was a good guy, who was a real gentleman. His family were the kingpin of his life.
Their first meeting albeit a tragedy, cemented their future they went through a myriad of emotions whilst they were getting to know each other.
This had me feeling it all with them and they truly deserved to find their happily ever after. It was a fantastic journey get to go explore their journey with them.

Laura went and did it again!!!

So I love Mason in his book. Then feel in love with Josh in his book.

Yep you guessed it I'm so in love with Brody!!!

Quinn ♡ I love her and just felt so sorry for her. With her loss then have to put up with what she had to I just wanted to give her a big hug.

Josh ♡ Oh that man.... He just makes me smile, blush and giggle like a schoolgirl. Everyone telling him when he meets the one they'll say 'I told you so' haha.

Laura you made me cry.. Whether it was because it was something sweet or sad I couldnt help it.

The story was just so completely amazing. It was just everything and more.

Just love you and your words.

Well done lovey xx

Book 3 in the Healing Hearts series. This book can be read as a standalone, but I recommend reading them in the order they were written, because if you are like me, you will itching to read Brody’s story.

Having escaped the recent tragedy of her life, Quinn Montgomery arrives in Marble Falls ready for a new life and fresh start. When a local tips her off about a job, she decides to head that way not knowing the changes that lay ahead.

When Brody Parker saves a stranger from his families burning barn, he feels an intense connection with her. Brody isn’t known for forming any kind of connection, except in the bedroom, so the feelings that Quinn stirs in him are unexpected and new.

Two strangers drawn to each other, even though neither are looking for love. But sometimes love hits at the most unexpected time. The question is… do you fight for it? Or do you continuing running?

I have really looked forward to Brody’s book from the start of this series. There is always that one character the peaks your interest, and Brody was that character for me. Cocky, free-spirited, but a kind soul… I couldn’t wait to meet the girl that would capture his wandering heart, and Quinn didn’t disappoint. She had to be an out of towner, and she had to have that something in her that provoked a side to Brody that he didn’t know existed; and she certainly has all of that going on. But apart from all the drama that surrounds her, she is just so sweet. As much as she bowls Brody over, he does that right back to her. Don’t get me wrong… this isn’t an insta-love, but it is definitely insta-lust and attraction. They knock each other off their axes, and adding in the drama you have a very enjoyable read.

Well done Laura! These great books keep coming. I wonder where you will take us next, as this series looks to be at its natural conclusion. I will be looking forward to it though. Your writing continues to develop and each story has a new pace with some added spice. You manage to do this with a flow that keeps the storyline engaging and characters likeable. A great little series!

The third book in this Healing Hearts series by debut author Laura Farr, and goodness me what a read this was!! Laura's writing is just going from strength to strength and I absolutely loved this one - Quinn and Brody are wonderful characters that will melt your heart.

Quinn has lost her mum and is having to live with her step dad, who has turned to drink and violence, beating Quinn on a regular basis. Quinn escapes and travels as far away as she can and ends up in Marble Falls. She has nothing and no money. Looking for work she ends up staying in the barn on the Parker Ranch hoping to get an interview in the morning. But during a storm the barn sets on fire and Brody ends up rescuing her.

Brody can't get Quinn out of his head! He has never felt this pull towards a girl in his life, wanting to make sure she is safe and protected, even though she is a stranger.

The Parkers end up taking Quinn into their household where she will work as a cleaner and live in Savanah's old room. Quinn and Brody find themselves together all the time, unable to resist their undeniable attraction to each other.

This was a fabulous read, I really felt for Quinn and Brody in this. Quinn has suffered a lot and lives in fear, but she is such a lovable person and fits in so well with the Parkers, I was really rooting for her HEA.

Brody was always a bit of a player, never wanting more than the odd couple of dates with the same girl, but since meeting Quinn he can't see past her and can't deny how attracted he is to her. He's such a good guy, strong, kind, caring and protective, he would do anything for Quinn and I loved him for it!

This is an emotional and heart breaking read at times with everything Quinn has gone through. The rest of the Parker family feature heavily in this book, their stories are from the previous 2 books, and it was lovely to see their continuation in this book also, they are such a loving and supportive family, makes you want to be part of them! Quinn and Brody's relationship is sweet and steamy, with some added suspense and angst in the storyline also.

It really is a brilliant read from such a new author, so if you haven't tried Laura's books yet I suggest you give them a go, I guarantee you won't be disappointed!! 5 well deserved stars.

Whatever it Takes is book 3 in the Healing Hearts Series by the extremely talented Laura Farr. The third instalment follows Brody and Quinn’s story, and is a little different to books one and two.

We first meet Quinn very briefly at the end of Defying Gravity when she is pulled from the burning stables by Brody. At this point though we don’t know anything about her or why she is there.

Whatever it Takes starts off with an introduction into Quinn’s life, and the heartbreaking and terrifying sequence of events that spur her to run far away from her old life and try and establish a new one.

I won’t divulge the details as to why she ends up in the barn, what I will say is from the minute Brody reaches her he instantly feels a connection between him and Quinn.

Quinn ends up back at the ranch, and Brody tries extremely hard to keep his distance, but the more he sees Quinn the harder it becomes. Quinn is also battling with herself, especially as she has no plans to stick around. Inevitably though, the electric current between them becomes too much to ignore and so they both begin an unknown journey together.

This story was as beautiful as it was heartbreaking. They are both lost souls for very different reasons but share a vulnerability that draws them to each other.

This is by no means an insta love story, neither is it a slow burn. It’s rather the perfect amount of build up in their friendship/relationship, as Brody wants to do more than just spend a night or 2 in Quinn’s bed. For the first time Brody can see his future, all he has to do is convince Quinn she’s safe with him.

This story made me swoon majorly on more than one occasion, it also had me laughing out loud as well as tearing up! Emotionally this book packs a real punch and has a bit of everything to make it the perfect read.

I have a HUGE amount of love for this series, and am constantly in awe of Laura’s talent, as it just gets better with each book! Her writing is powerful and triggers such emotion within you, you are instantly drawn into the story, feeling everything the characters are going through as if you are in the story yourself.

A MASSIVE 5 stars from me, I can’t wait for everyone to swoon over Brody just like I did!!!

Whatever it Takes is book three of the Healing Hearts series and each book can be read as a standalone; however, you will see continuing stories on the secondary characters. I love seeing where they are now and how loving this whole Ranch family is, but it makes your heart melt over and over after all the healing it took to get there their HEA. I still cannot pick my favorite cowboy in this series cause I love them all and these girls just keep getting better and better. They’ll have you laughing with their spitfire and each different characteristic of the girls balance each other out in this clan.
Quinn’s life was a nightmare and she chose a town based upon a friend she knew when she was younger to try to start over. Let me say she is very brave many times in this story, but it’s like fate led her there and without that horrible past she wouldn’t have met Brody. Brody see what happens when you tease your friends, siblings and parents? It happens just like that! Karma LOL Brody was not a relationship guy, but from the moment these two saw each other their undeniable attraction was real. He tries to stay away, but the flames wouldn’t strike lighting like the stable. He starts to see life a little differently and tries to show Quinn she’s safe now. Their way of meeting was not something you would dream of, but it happened and while it was sad, it was happy at the same time cause Quinn met some loving people at the ranch. Just when you think she makes a good decision, her past comes back and wowzer your heart is in your throat with these events! So glad it turned out how it did. This journey was beautiful, but heartbreaking and healing all in one sitting.
There’s only one thing that I still question and don’t know if I missed it while reading but whatever happened to the friend who lead Quinton to town? We don’t know who it was and if she even still lives in that town. You fall in love with all the characters and I hope this is not the end of the Ranch clan as I call them cause I would love to continue seeing more on this series. I would recommend this series to anyone who enjoys a country read with some emotional topics the heal you in the end.

This author has fast become a favourite of mine. This is her third book and each book gets better and better. I am excited to see what she brings us next.

After reading the second book in the series I was completely intrigued as to who the girl found in the barn was so was excited for this book. I loved Quinn so much, soon as we are introduced to her in this book she is firmly embedded in your heart and you are seriously cheering this girl on. She's had such an awful few years and after losing her mum and being left with a stepfather from hell, I so wanted her to be safe and happy.

After her escape she heads across country and wants to find a job and build a new life. I was so happy when she was rescued by Brody. The connection between them was instant and so beautiful to watch grow and develop. Brody cannot get Quinn out of his head, he has never before felt or wanted to feel the pull towards one girl. All he wants to do is make her feel safe and protected.

Laura really outdid herself with this superb emotional read. Everything Quinn went through pulls at your heartstrings and Brody's overprotective stance is totally swoon-worthy. I really loved seeing the rest of the Parker family again from the previous books. the way Quinn just fit into the family so naturally was heart-warming to watch.

I didn't think Laura would be able to beat my love for Sav and Josh but Brody and Quinn managed it.

Whatever it takes really is a sweet and charming read with a cherry on the top, A hot cowboy.

What starts off as a nightmare beginning for Quinn, losing her mum and being left with no other family except her alcoholic stepfather who regularly beats her, then locks her up and promises her as payment to money sharks quickly turns around when she finally escapes and runs away from her stepfather.
Days of travelling and Quinn settles for a small town and immediately begins looking for work, she discovers while in a small store help is needed at a local farm and so with very little or no money makes her way straight there.
Soaked to the bone after her walk Quinn dry's out in the farm's barn and plans to take a nap so she looks refreshed for her hopefully new employee. A fire, a whole lot of drama and Quinn nearly losing her life is found by Brody and taken in by his family.

A sweet new beginning but Quinn still fears she will be found one day by her stepfather so a bit of angst in the mix.

I loved the chemistry between these two characters. I floated away with the journey of Quinn and Brody's new found life and her journey to love and I adored it.
Whatever it takes in an ideal Sunday read. The kind of book where it warms your heart when good things finally happen to good people and love is found.

I haven't read previous books and this book can be read as a standalone, the author doesn't give to much away with what may have happened prior to this story and if you have read previous books you will be able to catch up with Josh and Savannah and all the excitement over their new baby. I will definitely read previous books I loved all the characters and I am interested in reading their story's.

Told in first person. Available in Ku. leads to hea

Trapped in a burning barn isn't much of an escape for Quinn. Still, running from her stepfather was her only option. Little did she think running from evil would land her in the heart of a loving family.

Brody didn't do relationships. He did have plenty of women who knew the deal. When he carried an unconscious woman out of their burning barn he had no idea what she would come to mean to him. He was the only sibling left who hadn't found his one. His sister and mom were doing all they could to change that. With Quinn's appearance, it looked like they wouldn't have to do much.

It is a touching, steamy, sweet, growing relationship with the last two people who should have a relationship. They are both running in different directions. When love hits their directions merge. Will Quinn be able to stay or will the need to escape evil force her to give up love and family? At what cost if she stays?

I enjoyed the characters, the supportive, teasing family, and their willingness to include Quinn. This is the third book in the series. It was a complete story alone. Because I enjoyed it so much, I will be getting the other two books and any possible future stories. I recommend it to all romance fans who like a little mystery and thrill in their reads.

To think she only debuted her first book only a while ago, I'm still amazed that this is only her third book. I absolutely adored this one. I loved Brody and Quinn's relationship in the story and how their chemistry was portrayed. I want a Brody of my own :-)
The author is definitely becoming a fast favorite of mine and a one-click author! If you haven't read her yet, I suggest you get on it, you won't be dissapointed. I seriously can't wait to read the next one she writes!

Quinn has lost her mother a while ago and is now living alone with her stepfather but after taking another bad beating, she's petrified of him and what may happen a next time. One night she sees her chance and flees the only home she's ever known. Now being in a new town, she's trying to get back up on her feet but the first night there it all goes wrong and a stranger comes in for her rescue. With nowhere to go, she gets a new chance and step by step she slowly builds her life there. Between Quinn and Brody there's an instant chemistry since that night; one that has takes them both by surprise and the more time they spend together, the closer they become. But a threat from Quinn's past is maybe closer than she thinks. Will she finally be able to put it behind her? Will she finally get the happy ending she deserves?...

I can’t put my finger on what exactly it is, because truthfully it’s many things, but something about this book just grabbed me from the start and made me love it. There are just so many things in Brody and Quinn’s story that are favorites for me. Sweet romance, a tight knit loving family, moments that have you on edge, and all on a ranch. Add in characters that you can’t help but love and you’ve got a read that you can’t put down.
Young, afraid, and running for her life Quinn escapes to a small town in Texas with nothing more that what she can carry. When she lands in the midst of Brody’s family during a terrifying moment they immediately adopt her into their fold. Brody is older, but still single and carefree. Never one to commit to more than a couple dates he’s thrown by the instant and deep pull he has to Quinn. As an adorably sweet and perfectly steamy love begins to grow between them Quinn’s past is getting closer and closer.
I loved the way Brody was with Quinn. His initial reluctance to start anything with her was quickly overshadowed by the deep feelings he tried to deny. He was so gentle, and so sweet with her. He brought all the swoon. These two together will absolutely melt your heart!

🤩 4.5 STAR EYES 🤩

It’s so hard to believe that this is only Farr’s 3rd Book, between the expert storytelling, the emotive writing, and the endearing characters that have development throughout, you’d think Farr was far (pun intended) more experienced than this.

I’m in awe of how much her writing has developed from Taking Chances (her debut) to Whatever It Takes! WIT effortlessly flows, with clear construction, and so much depth, you can really feel every emotion she felt when writing Brody and Quinn’s Book!

And oh my gosh the storyline was so gripping, so emotional, and it had me swooning the entire freaking time! A permanent 4 hour swoon. No joke. I was so invested in the story, white knuckling my kindle whenever we read about Evan, and smiling at my kindle like a loon whenever Brody and Quinn were extra sweet and romancy (coining words since ’95). While more intense than the previous novels in the Healing Hearts series, WIT is still a sweet, steamy, summer read, the easy read and one sitting read that you just need in this weather! I’m so excited to see what Farr brings us next, because going by WIT, it’s going to blow my mind!

OMG! I thought books 1 and 2 were amazing, but book 3 might just be my favorite in this series.

My favorite characters are back again and after they way things left off in book 2 I was dying to get my hands on this one. This series is wonderful, but definitely needs to be read in order since all of the stories pick up where the other left off. Already knowing that there was a mystery to this story from the way Defying Gravity ended I was eager to find out exactly who Quinn was and what her story was. I am so excited for Brody to be getting his own story because he was for sure a favorite character of mine in books 1 and 2.

Full of suspense and some drama I was hooked as soon as I started reading. I was on the edge of my seat not wanting to put the book down because I had to know what was going to happen next. I was feeling all the feels throughout the story and loving the chemistry between Brody and Quinn. Plus, I get to revisit all the other characters I have grown to love in this series which was a huge plus.

A must read book and series for sure. - By Alisa

OH MY WORD!! What a book...

Laura Farr is without a doubt an amazing author...her writing has come on in leaps and bounds and this 3rd book in the series Whatever It Takes just shows it....

Brody and Quinn are my all time favourite characters in this series...I loved the instant chemistry between them and the whole story is brilliant and gripping...from page one to the absolute end I just couldn’t put this book down, Laura is able to pull you in with her words and keep you hooked throughout...she had me smiling so big at times but honestly had me crying as well...at parts of the book my heart broke for the characters and the story they went through..

I can begin to say how much people need to read this book, actually no the WHOLE series...Laura is definitely up there as been one of my top authors and I am not ready to say goodbye to this series yet...definitely hands down a 5 ⭐️ read, I wish I could give it more. LOVE LOVE LOVE it so much.

This is the third book of Laura's I have had the pleasure of reading. Whatever it Takes is the 3rd book in the Healing Hearts Series, it can be read as a standalone but I would recommend reading the books in order to fully enjoy them.

This is Brody and Quinn's story. We first met Quinn at the end of book 2 Defying Gravity when Brody rescues her from the burning barn, but why was she in the barn? All becomes apparent in this book but I wont say too much.

Quinn and Brody are the pair you are rooting for from the get-go, Quinn deserves to be happy after everything she has endured and Brody is such a sweetie. The chemistry between them is crazy and even though this isn't an insta-love story, it isn't long until they find themselves drawn to each other.

Laura has done an amazing job with this series and it has been a great journey to see how much she is growing as an author. I cannot wait to see what she come up with next.

Oh Quinn, you are one strong young woman. What she has endured during an already difficult time in her life is horrific. To escape from this life she runs to Marble Falls - a place that has born some amazingly sweet love stories already - and to Brody's family ranch. A freak storm finds her rescued by Brody from the burning stables on the ranch and brings her peace and a feeling of belonging for the first time in a long time.

Quinn fights this every step of the way, not quite believing and feeling unworthy of it. Brody, though, recognises her heart and how special she is from the get go. Brody will do whatever it takes to keep her safe and to show her she is loved and is deserving of love.

I am so in love with Quinn and Brody as I have been with all the characters in this series. I really wanted Quinn to find her HEA with Brody because he treats her the way she deserves to be treated. Loved it!

Marie's Tempting Reads ARC Review:

A devastatingly endearing, sweet, oh so sexy romance that made my belly flip, my heart swoon, and my knees feeling all sorts of weak!

I really liked Whatever It Takes. The characters seemed incredibly likable and in a way I could relate to them and their feelings. This story had so much wonderful heart, heat, and sweetness to it I couldn't help but enjoy it. I like it when a book can grab my heart and give it a good squeeze and I feel like this one did just that. Its a great read and one I am happy to recommend.

This I love it. But i couldn’t give it five stars, because at the beginning H was to handsy for my taste with his fuckbuddy but I was relieved she didn’t appear in the rest of the book, and I hate her for making h of the second book, suffer. So I was grateful in this one was barely OW dram and more H and h romance. Sweet.

What a fantastic book! I loved the others in the series and knew this one wouldn't disappoint. A beautiful Insta love, yet slow burn love story.
Dealing with a difficult subject of abuse and death, it was done sensitively and well. Quinn and Brody are perfect for each other and the love between them was almost tangible at times.
A fantastic read and very highly recommended.

Absolutely beautiful!

What a gorgeous story! Farr has grown so much as a write since Taking Chances and this book showcases that so well. I've grown to love these characters so much, I'm devastated it's over. This has been such an amazing series.
