Thank you Boss In Heels, creator Heather Monahan for a copy of Confidence Creator Kindle ebook. What a wealth of information to help women gain more confidence and strength in the workplace. Heather brings up getting rid of the haters who drag you down, don’t be to hard on yourself, rejection, a big one for me is have the courage to speak up. Excellent read to empower you to be a better person.
I highly recommend this book to any woman at any stage in her life.
Heather Monahan is open and honest with both successes and what she would call failures and how she felt/feels about them. You will find this to be a wonderful encouragement to take a step each day toward your goals. She addresses uncomfortable situations and even when someone is "gunning" for you in the work world with grace and courage.
Even if you are an experienced business woman, you will find things you've forgotten or lost along the way that may be just the answer you're looking for today.
Thank you, Heather Monahan, for sharing the secrets/steps for becoming more successful as a woman and the encouragement to step forward day by day toward that end.
These are the positives about the book I want to highlight before diving into what factored into me to give it a 1-star rating. It was free to me via a giveaway. Who doesn't love getting a free book? I was pretty enthusiastic about it in the beginning. Miss Monahan's style of writing is easy to read helping me get through the book quickly. There is a lot of good advice in later chapters and peppered throughout her stories.
Sadly the stories are what tempted me to throw my phone through a closed window. If you understand anything about certain things she mentions the blatant hyper exaggeration of challenges she's had to overcome is obvious. While there is some good advice in her book much of it is directed at women of a certain socioeconomic standing. Unless you fit into that demographic you will probably have a hard time relating and a good chunk of the advice given will not apply to you. Another thing I found particularly questionable that came up often in her stories is how she'd mention how alone/without friends she was at particular points on her life. How bad the situation was for her would be explained giving mention to how alone she was, but somehow always had someone she was able to go to and be grateful to have in her life the very second things overwhelmed her. I found myself doing double takes at these bits.
I want to emphasize again how there is some good advice in this book, but it seems to shoehorned in. The stories focus on her becoming successful with "you can do it too" kind of lines dropped in. Other bits are more straight forward. Those are mostly at the end of the book. The last chapters of the book are more of a 'how to guide' for landing a job and have nothing to do with building confidence. Useful? Most definitely, but it was a strange and abrupt transition.
While what she shared is useful especially if you are part of the group she's addressing as a self-help book Confidence Creator falls flat. A lot of what was presented many have probably heard while preparing to enter the corporate scene after college or can easily find more concise information doing a simple internet search. As a personal story of one woman's inner struggle to become successful it's so-so. There's a lot of jumping around which made following her progress a little difficult. All of these things combined nearly kept this book on my DNF list. Not a read I am comfortable recommending to anyone struggling with self-confidence.
I browsed Goodreads, Amazon and Google extensively before shortlisting books on confidence. This book delivers what it promises.
If you are on the victim of 2nd version of Dunning Kruger effect, (where you underestimate your own skills) this book will definitely give you some practical solutions.
It's more of a 4.5 stars from me, but overall a great book to read if you need help boosting your confidence. I have heard so many times as a female founder that we either did not sell it hard enough or not looking confident enough. Well, I'm not saying this book will solve all our problem, but it's a start, because: - Very rarely a business book focuses on women and solving challenges that we have (e.g. how to deal with sexual harassment or juggling career and family). - The author is a badass strong woman who had been through a lot, from a place of no confidence to be where she is now (the book is almost autobiographical). - Remember how sometimes you don't believe you can be a superhero because you weren't represented in the superhero clan? Well, she made clear that we can have our confidence and be a woman.
The reason for a less 0.5 stars is because the book mostly based on the US point of view (culturally) and her background as a marketer. Being chatty in public would be so weird in Germany, for example. But if you understand the culture, you can adapt it to where you are accordingly.
Recommend? Yes, especially if you're looking for ways to boost your confidence. If you are a woman, this is a must read!
Having had had the opportunity to meet Heather in passing I felt her kind and humble spirit, it was then I decided I would look into what her book was about. I had just quit my job because I wasn't being treated as an equal and not even close to respected. I was in a journey of travelling to recenter myself. It was at that time I downloaded a copy and began to read a remarkable story. I was able to relate and gain advice and knowledge that I immediately was able to apply in my own life. I would recommend this book to any women, you absolutely will walk away with clarity and confidence!
This book is amazing not only for women but for anyone that has struggled with self confidence and has not been able to get out of their own way. Using personal experiences, the author is extremely open and relatable and the reader is able to connect on a personal level and implement the strategies she used to help with their own experiences. Highly recommend to everyone!!
I won this book and it came at a time when I really needed encougment! A sign maybe? This book really is full of great ideas and positive things we can do each day to better ourselves, encouraging one another, and make the best out of life and be a role model for our children! I have recommended this book to several friends! Thanks to #Goodreads for this book!! 😀
I really liked her positive spin on everything. I found her writing highly motivating. Self development books can often get heavy, making them hard to get through. But I found it so accessible and easy to read, whilst still touching on big topics.
This was a great book with valueable information For everyone. Each of us go through circumstances where or self esteem gets low. Heather offers my life stories and ideas to boost self esteem. I give this book 5 stars it's that good. I recommend this book. I received a ARC.
This book came to me at the perfect time. It was exactly what I needed. It has been a key resource in helping me improve my confidence. For that I am extremely grateful.
This book is very relatable even though I am a guy. Love the very practical experiences she shares. A must read for anyone who wants to improve upon the qualities they already possess and become a Rockstar with self confidence.
Thank you for the chance to read this book! It was a much-needed inspiration for me. So many stories I can relate to my own experience and learn! Truly remarkable!
If you are lacking in confidence this is a down to earth confidence empowering book. The life stories shared will speak women of all ages and personalities. Very enjoyable read!
Engaging, thought provoking, enlightening! Truly blessed to have this book as a self help guide to creating a Positive thought process in a negative world! A must read
Heather offers some great tips in the book. My reason for a four star and not a five star as the book starts our very inspirational. The middle of the book though, I felt I was reading an autobiography and not ways that help build confidence. It was just a bunch of life stories. Towards the end, she'd really starts to offer helpful tips that's an be applied to daily life. Although I doubt feel walking away from the book any more confident per se, I think there are some great tips to someone who may not have confidence at all. Thank you Goodreads for providing me a copy of this book in turn for an honest review.
Prior to purchasing the book through Audible and Amazon Kindle, I read some of the reviews and was surprised not to see a single rating below 4 Stars. Perhaps knowing this created a high expectation that I just didn't feel was met after listening to the book. Granted, Ms. Monahan discussed some tips and presented many personal stories to highlight creating confidence; however, by about 2/3 through the book, the constant *I* was feeling disingenuous. I am glad that I have the book via Kindle so that I can maybe go back later and skim through sections that may be beneficial at that time.
Confidence Creator is a first self-help book I've ever read and had a very difficult time getting through the chapters. The style of writing did not work for me, as the personal anecdotes were very one dimensional and the resolution/advice also very generic, summarized in less than a paragraph. A lot of the story focused on the author's accomplishments and the aftermath, but very little about the mindset and the process or even a timeline of how long it took to achieve those accomplishments. I'm happy that so many other people found Heather's advice beneficial, but I would have appreciated if she let the readers in a bit more, so we could truly find it relate-able.
I love that Heather puts herself out there. I love that she wrote a book. Although I don't feel like I am severely lacking in confidence there are areas that could use a boost. The fact that I wasn't completely inspired by this book is the reason for my three star rating. The book provides a tremendous amount of tips to build confidence. My hope is I didn't just read the book but I will make the incremental changes to boost my confidence. My take away from this read in to put on your heels, show up in your life and be the boss you were made to be!
The author has lived through tough circumstances in the workplace, and shares her triumphs and struggles. A small portion of the book focuses on positive affirmations and general bits of information to succeed, but the text is mostly fluff with stories from author’s personal and professional life. Clearer steps to succeed and a more definitive list of how to be more confident would have been helpful.
I did this, I did that wow, I was worn out by her mantra. I am happy and confident with myself, and her pushy selling of herself is a little much for me.
Heather Monahan's Confidence Creator is a transformative guide for anyone looking to reclaim their inner strength and embrace their authentic power. Heather's honest storytelling and actionable advice make this book both relatable and incredibly inspiring. She empowers readers to overcome self-doubt, turn setbacks into opportunities, and cultivate a mindset that attracts success.
Whether you’re navigating personal challenges or seeking professional growth, this book is a must-read. It feels like having a mentor cheering you on every step of the way. Heather’s warmth, wisdom, and practical tools make Confidence Creator a game-changer for building unshakable confidence. Highly recommended!
The Confidence Creator is a direct, personal guide to rebuilding self-belief the old-fashioned way: through honest reflection, tough choices, and steady practice. Heather Monahan draws from her own setbacks and career challenges, offering a mix of storytelling and straight talk that feels more like advice from a seasoned colleague than a self-help lecture.
Monahan reminds readers to stop tolerating what diminishes them, speak up, stand tall, and take responsibility for shaping their path. No hacks, no shortcuts, just the fundamentals that many people forget.
It’s a quick, encouraging read for anyone trying to regain confidence after life has knocked them off balance. It delivers exactly what it promises: a push to rise, reset, and move forward with more clarity and conviction.
From the beginning this book captures the readers. I think it is awesome how Heather addresses the concept of creating confidence. She is open and honest about mistakes she made, but also about the people in her life that influenced her. The greatest thing about this is book is the actionable items in it. So often “self-help” books are filled with theory, but no actionable items. In this book it is filled with creative ideas and helpful suggestions on how to create confidence. It is definitely worth the read.
Each chapter is broken up into different aspects of themes. Some didn't necessarily apply to me now, while others but home. Heathers simple method made me think about boundaries and how I assert myself within a relationship. I felt validated in some of my thoughts and when I finished the book felt empowered and equipped with some new tools.
Heather is a brilliant and unique bright soul. She is inspirational by just being herself, and blessing us with this book, is her utmost act of love, such precious and valid everyday messages. From the "how to build ones way to confidence" To " my confidence is mine and also yours." The empowerment this book brings for us nowadays is a very compliant and useful tool.
