Blood Prophecy #1-5

Dragon's Fire

Rate this book
A full-length reverse harem novel containing all five episodes of the Blood Prophecy serial.

Stealing from one dragon is lunacy. Stealing from five of them? I must have a death wish.
Contrary to popular opinion, I really don’t have a death wish.

Yes, I’m a thief, but after almost being torn limb from limb by an irate panther shifter, I’ve given up my law-breaking ways. From now on, I’m sticking to the straight and narrow.

Then Drakkar Raedwulf dangles one tempting, yet impossible job in front of me. Steal a gemstone from the five dragon princes.

I’m not a fool, but Silas, the closest thing I have to a father, is gravely ill. He’ll die if I can’t get him the treatment he needs. Treatments that are far more expensive than I can afford with my crappy minimum-wage job.

So I take the job.

And promptly get caught by the five princes. Bastian. Casius. Rhys. Mateo. Erik.

And that’s where my story really begins…

Because the dragons are cursed, and my blood might be the secret to freeing them.

Adult situations. Snarky heroine who likes to swear from time to time. 18+.

This showed real promise in the first few chapters, our h is a thief, trying to get out of the game but circumstances mean she needs a big score to save a loved one.
But the more I read, the more I began not just to hate this book, but to be bored stupid by it, to the point I began skimming big time.
- So fricking repetitive. What with Aria having the dream over and over and over again. And plus because of the dream we know exactly where the book is going, and all suspense is sucked away. And the reader is just left with the constant thought - come on already, get to the bloody castle.
- If you are going to write a reverse harem book then two major things have to happen so the reader can connect. First, every single character needs to be unique, layered and fully developed. In this offering I was gifted with 5 interchangeable men. Well, except for Erik who only stood out because of his dead mate. And worse, when the author chose to give any of the men their own chapter so we could hear their thoughts, they were so blah. And so short. Lucky if they got a page and a half. And the second big thing that has to happen in a RH novel, the sex, there has to be a believable connection between all the characters and it has to be hot, with an extra dollop of steamy. Unfortunately none of that took place here, I even skimmed the sex scenes they were so awkward, with little to no charm or sizzle
- The men all worried about Aria constantly. Her feelings. But often, for the sake of word count ended up doing the wrong thing
- Aria thinks a lot. Yet even when she knows she's being immature or putting herself in danger, every single time she still goes ahead with her actions or her behaviour. Grrrr.
- There were glimpses of fun here, but really only b/w Aria and her best friend Bea - who, I'm sorry to say are the only couple in this who have a fully evolved relationship. Plus, I kept wondering why Aria is so humourless, and when she does attempt to be funny it comes across as stilted and forced? The ad-nauseum butter your muffin references were applied way too frequently and heavy handedly.

Look, there was potential here. But Aria wasn't likeable enough to shoulder this story. It wasn't funny enough. Or enough action (Let's sit around a penthouse and then a castle for weeks on end) and when there was action, time and again the author failed to set up any tension or suspense, instead it was plodding and rather boring.
And the biggest let down - our interchangeable heroes, who were boring and one-dimensional.

This book had potential to be great but it was just missing something. The start was great and held so much promise. After Aria met her mates, things just sort of fell flat. And the final showdown with Zyrian was quite disappointing. For 500 pages or 5 books we were told about this bad ass dark dragon villain who has held the entire magic world hostage with his dark magic and for more than 500 years no one in the magic community was brave enough or had enough powers to challenge him but his defeat is summarised in one paragraph. What was all the build up for.

And just out of interest, with the return of magic the way it was meant to be, will the shifters born without shifting abilities be fixed? I really want to know, also because this was a big subplot to the story.

Just a heads up, this book ends at 92%.

I really enjoyed reading this book. It was fun and exciting and I did not want to put it down. I liked the characters a lot and I loved the mythology that was mixed in.

This reverse harem shifter book is actually 5 installments of the story that were combined together. Most of the book was good editing wise but somewhere in the middle, I'm not sure which installment it was, I noticed multiple errors. Some were just incorrect words, but others were actual continuity type issues. A couple of times, I could tell that the scene was pieced in after the fact because something from a conversation would be repeated in a slightly different way. All and all though, it wasn't that big of a deal because the entire book didn't have those same problems.

The only other thing that I would have liked to have seen different is that more time could have been dedicated to the ending and a bit more of an epilogue set farther out so we could see more of a HEA rather than HFN type ending.

Even with those minor issues, I am still rating this as 5 stars because I read until I fell asleep, then I actually dreamed about the book, and woke up early to keep reading. To me, anything that has me that hooked is worthy of the higher rating.

I definitely recommend this book.

THE GOOD

* Intimate scenes were hot.

* The FMC Aria had a down-to-earth attitude I mostly enjoyed. I liked how she was found to be working at a boring old Claire's-type menial job rather than only exclusively as a renowned thief.

* I liked the slow buildup of their relationship after they found that they were fated mates.

THE ISSUES

* The plot is full of cliches that started to annoy me by the end of the book. Digging into her orphaned background ended up revealing her mystical origins to give logic to her Mary Sue abilities. Just to name a few, over the course of the book, Aria manages to Erik was the holdout of the group for a relationship with Aria because he Both her adoptive father Silas and her best friend Bea conveniently find their own HEA relationships without much drama.

* Every character from the princes to criminals to maids had very unique special names. They often never consistently used their first or last name in the writing either, so I'd often lose track of what character we were talking about in the course of a few paragraphs.

* The dragon princes acted rather immaturely for their 200-500 year old ages. Their behavior never seemed incredibly wise or dated to me after they've lived for centuries, and I thought they acted more like they were in their early 20s instead.

* Aria still fell into that stupid self-sacrificial trope at the end even when she acknowledged IN THE TEXT that it was reckless and a terrible decision. Every time an MC does this, I just want to slap them on the head.

* While I appreciated that even the bad guys had a bit of depth and logical reasoning for their actions, the redemption of

* The description of intimate body parts was... laughably childish sometimes.

* So many small details were introduced to no satisfactory conclusion. A few that irritated me the most:

The writing was generally easy to read, but the cliched plot and disorganized logic ended up causing an unsatisfactory reaction for me.

1.5 Stars.

I read till about 40% but then I began to get annoyed with Aria. So I skimmed and skipped to see what would happen in the end. I wished Aria were more of a wise-cracking, snarky bad-ass. Instead, I thought she was a little whiney and had some TSTL moments. The guys too.

I liked the premise, but a lot of the things I was looking forward to with such a story were either cut short or skipped over. She gets all dressed up for a fancy ball with a stolen dress and everything, but she only uses it for 2 minutes and barely anyone notices her before switching into a maid's outfit, so what was the point of making such a big deal out of how she acquired the dress?

Then halfway through the book, at which point there's been a total of 2 sexual encounter scenes with some of the 5 mates, there's a throwaway line about how all of her nights have been steamy and she's been fooling around/having sex with 4 of the 5 guys, which means we as the readers don't get to witness certain first intimate encounters. Those are important parts of relationship-building in romance novels to me, so it really bothered me with how flippantly those were treated. Aria apparently had zero qualms about jumping into bed with 5 men, which I found unrealistic based on her character.

Speaking of her character, there was a disconnect between who she claimed to be and how she really acted. She's supposed to be an anti-social introvert who loves books and cats, yet she loves clubbing, constantly dating 5 different men, and I never saw her read a book or interact with a cat.

The cover and the premise of the book are amazing. I really wanted to enjoy reading this book. While the writing is very good and the plot itself interesting, there were too many things I didn't like.

- I did not enjoy the gardening puns, they were SO overdone.

- I know what "Mausezähnchen" means and for me it's not an affectionate nickname. It makes me think that the heroine has teeth like a mouse because that is what it translates to. So every time Bastian calls her Mausezähnchen (and he does a lot) I keep thinking about Mickey Mouse.

- I am also not a fan of insta-love/insta-lust as is was portrayed in this book.

- For someone who lived on the street for a few years and is a tough thief, the heroine sure squeals and giggles a little too much for my taste.

Ok so I started reading this series with the first book then realized I could read all 5 books in one with this book. Now that the story is over I gotta say we are left with some hella loose ends. First of all, there is a whole scene in which Aria and Silas visit one of Arias foster mothers in an nursing home. She has some sort of dementia though it’s not specified what kind. She in a couple moments of crazed clarity it seems mistakes aria for her mother talking about curses and prophecies. After this scene, other than Aria finding out the basis of her “magic” no details or explanation is given to what happened to Arias mother or why she gave Aria up or anything really. Also, the dark dragon mage though stripped of his powers at the end is roaming around free. I’m sorry but truly evil people don’t need magic to continue their heinous acts, this was concerning for me but the characters don’t seemed concerned in the least. Again, what about all the norm “shifter” babies? You would think after Aria discovers she can free their shifter side especially after she learns that some packs abandon them that she would be taking up a campaign to either help them, or find some way to take those abandoned under her wing but nothing is mentioned of this either. Lastly, her “fire” sword though it seems to be the savior in the end...after all this mythology you would think that the sword would end up being one of those mythological weapons, not gonna lie I was thinking it was going to end up being Arch Angel Gabriel’s sword or something epic but was surely disappointed when that didn’t come to pass. All in all it was a super fast read and pleasantly entertaining just seemed to be lacking the finality of the last book in a series where loose ends are tied up!

Dragon's Fire is smushed together version of the whole blood prophecy series, five tiny books make for a one long ass read duh. For obvious reasons this version is never going to feel like a put together book.

What do we have here? Dragons, a prophecy, a curse and a reverse harem of the most important dragons. It's crazy tempting and honestly not that bad if you really like all these elements even if it's done a little bland.

The beginning is good, I love the thief idea and to use it as a way to meet the dragons. It's after the meeting that things suddenly fall flat. Her being their mate automatically just makes them see rainbows and unicorns when they see Aria. No internal struggle regarding anything other than Erik who had a past. It's no fun when they just fall in line so easily.

Aria stops being interesting after she meets the guys. After that its just casual activities doing mundane stuff until the end conflict. She is supposedly street smart, hardened from the years of bouncing around foster homes and what not but seriously she doesn't feel or act that way. She does stupid stuff quite easily. Her mates feel more like her sugar daddies than actually having emotional connections.

The dragons have their own POV scattered through the book, it might as well have been cut out cause I could never find a differentiating voice from any of them. They are so cardboard characters, no complexities or anything. They are dragons, royal and rich, mates to Aria and that's it.

The whole storyline flattens once she meets the dudes. Sex, chitchats of info dumps, waiting in cities or castle takes majority of the space with small bouts of things that jolts the plot forward. For example, we have a detailed scene of a threesome at the same time her other two dragon mates are meeting an old ass dragon who ambushes them which is barely like a para. Listen sex is great but where's the action man? We have DRAGONS here, who doesn't want fight scenes? Every single fight scenes are just mentions. The end scene which is dragged out so much is over in a snap.

The prophecy thing is not that polished once you move past the "when you find your mate the curse will be broken" The whole deal with the sword, stone and Aria herself is like tiny bread crumbs that holds us through the non exciting parts of the book.

Almost Perfect

This was a really great series. Right up until the end. I was so happy the h wasn't a tstl character. Then we got near the end and she just jumped head first into dummy territory. Spoiler ahead: So she's had several visions showing her that if she runs off on her own she fails and Silas dies. So what does she do the second after getting one of these visions AND her inner voice telling her that's not the path to take? Yeah, you guessed it. She sneaks off all by herself. Was the dude really going to kill Silas who is his only bargaining chip if she tells him she needs 48 hours to be able to arrange transportation and get there without the dragons finding out, then tell the dragons and plan it. The guys would never leave Silas to die! That would have been the smart thing to do and given them time to plan. She seriously looked like that little kid whose told not to put your hand on the hot stove eye or it will burn you, but they do it anyway. There is also a novella tucked in the end, that should have been just part of the story, because the story did leave those loose ends that the novella wrapped up. It just seemed weird to read a three months later epilogue then a next minute story from before the epilogue. Kind of jarring. The juggling of the five dragons was pretty backward too. If appeared that she might sleep with a couple guys over several weeks. I don't know many guys that would like that much. Check we never actually saw her have sex with Bastian. Yes, filling around, but no sex. Overall though, it was a really good story. Just had some flaws. What's bad is that they are easily fixable flaws

All the stories of Aria and her HOT dragon princes - Highly Recommend

This provides the opportunity to read all of the stories of Aria and her hot dragon mates. There is a great storyline with some twists throughout the entire series. I love series, as I feel like I get to know the characters better and immerse myself in the storyline, but I am not a fan of serials, so when I had an opportunity to read everything in one volume, I was all in.

Just a little to describe the high level ... The world is apparently aware that shifters exist. Aria is a Norm (human), but her mother died when she was young, so she grew up in the foster system. When she was just a young girl, she hit the streets and before she was 16 and stole what she needed to survive. Then she met Silas, a thief for hire, who raised her as his own and taught her the tricks to the trade.

After a close call stealing dragon's blood from a lab guarding it, Aria promised Silas that she would quite the business. Then Silas develops a rare blood disease that requires blood transfusions and other expensive treatments at a cost of $15k each. This completely depleates their combined savings and Aria's job at a costume jewelry store in the mall is just not going to do it. Then she gets an offer to steal from the dragon's again, but if she can complete it, will pay for all of Silas' treatments and pay her $1 million.

What's a girl to do, but buy a party dress and prepare as much as she can ...

This story contains adult language throughout, hot, steamy with semi-detailed and detailed intimate scenes, and violence (fights, kidnapping, murder, evil vs. good magic, etc.). So if any of these situations are offensive to you, then this may not be the series for you.

Never enough dragons for me !!!

What a super fantastic read !!!!
Aria lives in a world where there are magical creatures. Mages, all kinds of shifters, as well as alchemists , and Dragons !!!
She is a Norm. A normal being with no magic. Her adopted father is a wolf shifter, and a very great thief . As any good father, Silas teaches all he knows to Aria .
Who is also a Great thief !!
Aria' s life changes once she is out on the dance floor with two dragons . Because they are not just any dragons, they are THE DRAGON PRINCES . Five of them .

Casius, Rys, Mateo, Bastian , and Eric are the five dragon princes that have survived the massacre of many others of their kind. Magic is not as powerful as it once was, but there may be hope. An ancient prophesy. It tells of a breaking of the curse that effects all magical creatures in some way , and Dragons will return to their former glory. Once the princes find their mate.
After 500 + years, they have lost hope.
This book was very interesting , the characters memorable , and the cast of characters descriptive and funny. Aria and her friend Bea are a blast !!!! The dragon princes try to out do each other over their treasures , and lots of adventure !!! I Loved it !!!

~ rh no mm
~ heroine tstl
~ cliche Hs
~ Dragon shifter, no knots

✅ no ow, no pregnancy, no mc deaths

I rate this 3 stars simply because I finished it. The beginning had promise but then it started to drag.

There’s inconsistencies, cliches and repetitive scenarios. It was multi pov but this didn’t add anything because the heroes chapters were only 1-3 pages long and didn’t give much insight. The characters were very one note. I mean Rhys, the only thing we know about him is that he’s a flirt. Bastian is a workaholic. There’s no deeper character development. We never get full character descriptions for all the guys.

She sleeps with one guy and the next thing we know she’s now sleeping with three of them and we get told this secondhand in one paragraph, yet we have to relive the same dream over and over again.

I love dragons, and I was BORED. Where’s the knots? Where’s the ultra possessive mates? Yeah they shifted but I felt no excitement.

The best relationship here was between the h and her father. The heroine was also just not that bright.

So is it terrible? Not really, definitely more for a younger crowd, I won’t read other books by this author.

An exceptional story that will keep you riveted to the end! This is a great story with layers of fantastic elements as well as perfectly described characters. I was drawn in from the first page. I was not aware that it had been a serial, but only discovered this after I had read it. I enjoyed the character interactions as well as the depiction of Norms, shifters and dragons, and the use of magic thrown in just because they could! The violence, for me, was a bonus caveat, as well as the hot scenes of personal interaction. Adversely, half way through the book, I was ready to give up because the story just never seemed to end, the pacing was a little sluggish in places and there was some repetition, but I continued and was glad I did. I would recommend this book, if you have a lot of time to devote to reading one really great and detailed story, or if you want to space the book out over a few days reading. It is totally worth a read as it seems to cover every angle in the Paranormal genre. I had fun reading it, I think you will too!

Generously giving this 3 stars.
Well, the book seemed to flow really slow, I thought several times that it was boring & was losing my interest enough to maybe quit the book. Then something would happen in the story to catch my attention enough to keep me reading, only to then drag again. I didn't hate it, I don't regret reading it, but I would definitely not re-read it. I also didn't have any interest in continuing with the series after this book. This does give the 6 main characters a happy at the moment type of ending. Not really a HEA, as it leaves it as is only 3 months into the future in the epilogue. Aria was ok, she waffles too much on being brilliant or being too stupid to live. The RH, Bastian, Cassius, Rhys, Mateo, & Erik were ok, nothing memorable, & I had a hard time keeping them straight of who I was reading about, as they just weren't well developed IMO. They could almost be interchangeable. Overall, I didn't really feel like I knew the 6 main characters any better at the end of the story.

Five ⭐️’s Worth Most Definitely!!

I do not have the right words to describe this book because I’m basically kinda speechless and also I do not want to give away any spoilers for the people that haven’t read the series that this book is made out of!
So all I’m going to say is this book is absolutely fantastic! I was sucked in from the first page and I couldn’t climb out until I got to the very end of the book. The constant buildup then a climax repeatedly throughout this whole book kept me glued to it and sitting on the edge of my seat the whole time. I absolutely loved this book. I enjoyed the characters and the reality that the authors created. I look forward to reading more of their blended story weaving skills in the future! So yes I most definitely recommend this book to anyone who’s interested in a fantastic whirlwind of a ride!

Glad they put it in one!

When I ran across Dragon Thief, I enjoyed it... then realized it was a serial. Thankfully, they compiled the collection into this omnibus, which reads with no breaks or obvious gaps.

Pros:
- interesting world building.
- The dragons are fantastic
- I liked how the consequences weren’t an end of EVERYTHING, just everything they knew... if they failed.
- Decently written.
Note: READ THE INCLUDED SHORT STORY! It answers the ‘wait... what about...?’ question after the epilogue ends. Mind you, it’s a throw away line, but at least it’s SOMETHING! And you’ll know the question, trust me.

Cons:
- I’m left with a few fairly big questions that weren’t addressed: her mom? Come on.... tell me more! The diary... seemed important, then nothing. And who took it? And lastly... Bastion’s mom..... THAT Needs a whole novel of explanation itself!

This book has it all.

Tons of mystery, suspense, romance and snark. Arias weird sense of humor (and introvert T-shirt’s everyone loves but won’t wear out of the house), sense of duty and fierce love for who she deems family, really make this book. Oh, and Erik. And Mateo, Rhys, Casius and Bastion. Aria is not a shifter, but she has some gifts that are not completely Norm. In order to save her dying father, she takes on the job of the century, to steal from the dragon princes, not realizing the path the fates are leading her down. I loved the snarky quips, the sweet moments and hot hot hot sexy times. Aria had to grow up and not only learn magic, but also to rely on others.

Good start to the book. Aria is a retired thief who is tempted into one last job to help her sick father. I originally started this series by reading the first book, Dragon's Thief and I would rate that as 4 stars. We are introduced to Aria and she meets two of the dragon pronces and feels the connection.

I switched to Dragon's Fire as it contains the entire series. The book just starts to drag building up to where Aria has to confront Gideon. I would have preferred more time spent on building the relationships between Aria and the princes and less of them mostly sitting around thinking about how to save the world.

Yes, there was training but it read as superficial as did most of the rationahioa Aria had with her mates

Good

This is an omnibus edition of the Blood Prophecy series, plus an additional short story “Dragon’s Ghost”.

Aria is a norm; a human supposedly without powers of her own, but Aria has never been normal.
Raised by a wolf shifter, it’s his illness that prompts her to take on a job to steal from the dragon princes. And it’s that job that puts her in the path of her five mates; and up against the dark dragon who is trying to destroy them all.

Although a reverse harem, this book isn’t really all about sex at all, instead it’s an urban fantasy with a RH romance running throughout.
There’s plenty of romance, magic, and adventure; and the story itself is enjoyably entertaining.

A fun read for UF and Paranormal fans with an RH twist.

This is an amazing book. It has some mythology from several cultures that just helps spice it up. Lots of fighting between good and evil. The main character is a kick butt female thief or former thief some days. She has a devoted adopted father that is a wolf shifter. Both would give their lives for each other. Her father really make an impact on who she is in the story and I love how it is written throughout the story. Now add five gorgeous dragon shifters and things heat up a lot. Don’t forget the best friend who will make you laugh. So glad she gets her own story too. I highly recommend this story to any paranormal romance reader.

I voluntarily read and reviewed a copy of the book.

This was entertaining enough, but not amazing. The author took some writing shortcuts to move the plot along, and her focus was more on the relationships than the plot. It was still entertaining, though. I'm not dying to read the next in the series, but I probably will read it anyway. I'm glad I got this on Kindle Unlimited.

Premise: Female thief needs to pull off one last heist to fund medical treatment for her ailing dad. She gets caught red-handed by 5 dragon princes who immediately recognizer her as the prophesied mate that will help them reclaim lost magic. Yes, it's that silly, but the characters are likable, which makes up for a lot.

In loved Aria and her badass self starting out. She is so capable and brave to go up against the princes for such an admiral cause....... BUT it drove me crazy that she not only accepted the mate stuff wayyyy to quickly, but suddenly turned into a helpless damsel in like 20 pages??? She had so much potential to be a badass and I was a bit let down by her character overall. Its also hard to keep the love interests straight since 4/5 are so similar in their demeanor and dialogue. Also was confused by the "blood magicking" changing every few chapters. Overall not a horrible read and was pretty entertaining if not a bit predictable.

This book was phenomenal. It was engaging from beginning to end, and full of twists and turns.
I loved the characters. Aria is everything I want in a main character. Sassy and independent, yet amazing loyal. And her best friend was so fun. Their relationship felt so real.
I enjoyed the men as well. They each felt distinct and unique, yet they worked together well with Aria.
The world-building was well done, and I was sad when the story ended.
Overall, these authors did amazingly well bringing this story to life.

Amazing book I am glad I jumped in and went for it. Aria was down right awesome, she knew how to hold her head up high. And she called how it is. Her bestie had me laughing up a storm. The guys Rhys, Mateo, Erik, Casius, Bastian were something to behold. They had me in how they handle things. And if they were messing up they admitted it to one another and to her. I can't forget Papa wolf he has so much love for Aria even though she's not his daughter he still sees her as his cub and that means a lot. All around I love this book.
