Following the murder of his friend, former soldier Daniel Harpur is on the warpath. A small bag of white powder and a Chinese gangster with a dragon tattoo are his only leads. He has vowed revenge, but first he must overcome his own personal demons.

The Wildlife Investigation Agency, charged with protecting endangered animals and their habitats, are on the trail of an infamous poacher who is decimating the wild tiger population. But red tape and bureaucracy thwart their every move.
Both Harpur and the WIA want justice. Just in different ways.......

The Bone Farm has a varied cast of characters with one thing in common. They all have something to do with the illegal trade of wildlife, specifically tigers. Some are working diligently to stop the slaughter of so many tigers while some are working just as hard to line their pockets with the profit. Then there are those caught up and trying to find answers. The story is fast-paced and a fairly quick read with plenty of action and a few twists to keep us on our toes. This one read like a good action/adventure movie, and in all actuality it would probably do very nicely on the big screen. It would be bloody and quite violent, but our lonely hero, Dan, would translate well to film. There is a hint at romance for Dan, but it doesn't seem to pan out. Of course, this is just the first in the series, so there's still hope for him as the series progresses. All things considered, I did enjoy the read. It is emotional and sometimes hard to take with these beautiful creatures being hunted and treated so brutally, but it's a story that needs to be told even in fiction form.

The Bone Farm is a great read. Dan Harpur was a special forces member until his like took a spiral. He was divorced and now married to the bottle. All he cared about was his next drink, until he helps a neighbor. The story explores the trade in animals and animal bones, showing a profitable and vicious game. While he is investigating the animal trade his close friend is murdered. Dan then decides he needs to take down this evil. Pick up a copy of The Bone Farm and see if Dan can straighten out his life and solve the animal trade.

The Bpnr Farm

An incredible talent. A must read! I loved it. It's the power of what is morally right can make evil end.

This has a mix of Chinese Triads, an ex-soldier turned to drink and the Wildlife Investigation Agency (WIA) all involved in different ways with the trade of tiger bone and the other illegal smuggling of exotic animals for the black market. The WIA agent is trying to catch a prolific poacher and smuggler who is decimating the tiger population across many countries. She struggles with her hunt and has her hands tied with red tape.

Meanwhile, Dan is struggling in ‘civvy’ street, having been a very fit soldier and SAS member, who put his job before his wife. Now having brought about his own discharge from excessive alcohol use upon the news of his wife asking for a divorce, he has lost his way. He is no longer fit, nor sober! He tries to help a neighbour on his way to meet an old friend, who is still in the SAS, and his friend gets killed instead of him. By someone clearly part of a Chinese gang. All over a small bag of tiger bone!

Another character you find out about, is a poor Chinese peasant, a master butcher, with no job and struggling to support his family. A job at the local wildlife sanctuary, would hopefully get him back on track, but turns out to be an absolutely nightmare and fearing for his life.

Dan wants justice for his friend and for the damage done to him and others, so sets out to try and track down the men responsible for his friend’s death, as well as investigating what he can find out about tiger bone and related smuggling. One company he calls for information is the WIA and the recently returned Heather, unhappy with her results and fed up with bureaucracy and its rules.

A good thriller, with organised crime playing a large part and the massive part that killing off animals for their parts is causing ruin in parts of the world. The smuggling encourages crime and makes it an easy option for locals rather than trying to save their land and animals for future generations. Short sighted views often the only option people can take, without thinking of the consequences. A tale of this growing black market trade, which is destroying attempts at conservation around the world today. A story also of revenge and a man’s redemption.

I enjoyed this. It deals with some quite complex issues and keeps you hooked the whole way through. I had one slight disconnect with one scene with Dan, that changes time zones, in a way, but I soon caught up. Such a thought provoking theme and packaged in a fascinating way. I received an ARC copy of this book from Hidden Gems and I have freely given my own opinion of the book above.

The trade in exotic and rare animals on an international basis

Dan Harpur is a broken man living in Belfast, with a recent divorce and a drinking problem. That he had been part of the elite SAS at one time shows how far he had really fallen in life.
Andrew Jackson slowly and carefully builds the reader’s appreciation of the smuggling of exotic animals and animal parts, and the incredible wealth it can bring if, as in this case, it is supported by the Chinese triads. Dan Harpur finds himself in the middle of it and its victims – human and animals.
This is a very good international thriller, with some excellent characters, and evidence of much research having been done on the topic.
A UK author, Will Patching has released 2/3 of a trilogy about international human trafficking that, while even darker than Andrew Jackson’s, provides a gritty perspective on another blight in today’s world. I have read The Hack and The Hunter, and am eagerly awaiting The Hangman.
And an excellent release by another “indie” author/publisher – Andrew Turpin – provides lots of action, suspense, and fascinating characters in another thriller set in Northern Ireland that plays out in a well-researched setting.

Dan Harpur is not your average ex special forces member. He is focused on drinking himself into oblivion. When a neighbor requests his help in recovering a wedding ring he is drawn into a series of events and mishaps that leave him in big trouble, but sober with one eye. The story plays out against a backdrop of the illegal market in products from rare and endangered species. The characters are somewhat unique but not portrayed in great depth. The writing style flows very well and makes for an easy read. The book's mission is to enlighten the reader about the huge market exploiting rare creatures, with a good story thrown in to keep you reading. Entertainment and education make for a worthwhile read.

When I started this book I was not sure I wanted to continue reading. However, I am usually a reader who won’t give up on a book just because I don’t like what I’m reading for the first few chapters. I am very happy that I did not stop reading. This story is interesting and exciting. The characters are strong and engaging. The story drags you into the book and the characters keep you there. It’s a little bit slow to start but the reading is worth the effort. Read this book and get a clear picture of how other countries exploit the animals in their territory. You won’t be able to put it down. Great read!

This is the first book I've read by Andrew Jackson and was captivated in the storyline and characters. A well written story about illegal smuggling of exotic tiger bones. This is an international thriller with suspense, action and adventure. You won't be able to put this book down until it's finished. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

Definite Winner

An action packed story dealing with a very sad subject, the killing of tigers to line the pockets of evil men. The subject matter is timely, the characters are realistic, and the ending leaves you wondering about the two main characters. Will they meet again? What dangers will they face? This book is a definite winner

As before, another enthralling read from Andrew Jackson!!!!

Andrew draws the reader into the world he writes about.
As with Savage etc. The story throughout the book seems so real to the reader.
I hated having to set my kindle down!
Can't wait for the next one Andrew!

A great read from start to finish. This was a new author for me but I really enjoyed the writing style. The main character Dan Hurpur was believable and I must admit I felt quite sorry for him. I am looking forward to the next book in this trilogy, Gates of Ivory. A big thank you to the author and from me a well deserved 5 stars 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Thrilling Action

Suffering several major losses die to his SAS training, Dan finds himself up against a Chinese triad. His efforts to help stop illegal tiger farming & poaching are costly in a very personal way. An intriguing plot with great characters.
