A Daughters of Hecate Companion Novella "I didn't come to New York City to get famous. I came to New York City to meet Sid Vicious. Unfortunately for me, he was already dead by the time I got there."
Eli Maddern is the voice of a new generation of punk rock rebellion, he just doesn't know it yet. He also doesn't know that the contract he's just signed with Brooklyn punk band Mutually Assured Destruction is binding in more ways than one. When he wakes up after a night of celebrating his newfound success, he realizes that sometimes the phrase 'signing your life away' isn't just an exaggeration.
Vampire Punk is a short companion novella to the Daughters of Hecate series. Get up close and personal with the lead singer of Mutually Assured Destruction and the inner workings of the vampires who haunt the underground New York club scene.
Meredith Medina is a new author of Urban Fantasy and Supernatural Thriller novels. She loves writing (and reading!) about badass heroines using mind-bending magic to make the world a better place, or at least one that has more pumpkin spice lattes. She currently lives in New Zealand in a little witchy cottage with her husband and three cats, including a little Suki of her own <3
Absolutely loved this, it's nice to learn more about Eli and his past, as he's a character i love so much. I need more Eli and Ophelia. I love their dynamic! Can't wait to read the next book in the series!
This story is Eli's prequel and story of the beginnings and the evolution of Mutually Assured Destruction's. It is 1979 and young Eli, eager new musician, comes to New York underground club Spiral to find Sid Vicious and impress him with his vocal skills. Instead, he impressed Bishop. Eli is a tragic character, and this is quite a sad story, which explains why Eli is so distant, quiet and mysterious. He is a person who got everything he ever wanted, but paid a very steep price for it. He can't forgive himself for making one bad decision and floats through life without meaning, not even enjoying the success he wished for so much. I still don't like him that much, but I do understand better what is it that Ophelia sees in him, in the sense they are similar, alone in the world and surrounded by people who either want to hurt them or take advantage of them, only recently finding some peace and meaning with each other. The series makes most sense if read in order, which is: Witchmark (Daughters of Hecate 0.5), Sticks & Stones (Daughters of Hecate, #1), Moonlight Burns (Daughters of Hecate Book 2), Power of Three (Daughters of Hecate Book 3), Vampire Punk (Daughters of Hecate Book companion novella), and upcoming Haven (Daughters of Hecate #4) and Sands of Time (Daughters of Hecate #5).
