USA Today Bestselling author Kimberly Krey is known as the Queen of Steamy Clean Romance. She's a fervent lover of God, family, and cheese platters, as well as the ultimate hater of laundry. Her readers count on faith-filled romance novels that stay clean without losing the steam.
A story of a bodyguard and a woman in need of protection is always an intriguing premise. Blayze is strong and fiercely committed to his protecting job, but he is very quick to fall for the beautiful and independent Sophia. There are some really sparks that ignite almost from the start, but there is always a bit of a tug-of-war going on.
Sophia has been receiving threats, but she's so determined to avoid being protected, which makes Blayze's job hard. I like a strong woman, but it's okay to rely on help when it's needed. That conflict of interest is magnified when Blayze falls hard and fast and the relationship seems to be constantly jerking from a complete stop to a super hot go. I kind of expected him to act on his feelings more gradually, since he is so committed to his job, but it was fun to see the sparks ignite.
I loved the suspense and would have loved more of that angle. This elements added some depth to the story and kept me guessing, and overall, this was a really fun book.
Content: mild romance; mild violence/moments of peril
I'm loving this new series! Seriously? A whole series about honorable, strong men who defend and protect? Yes. I'm all in. The men in this series are the stuff of dreams.
I loved the instant attraction these characters had even if they couldn't act on it right away. There was some great chemistry and some yummy kissing. It wasn't smooth sailing for these two but that made the destination even sweeter.
Kimberly Krey is such a fun author. I love the way her stories come so naturally and easily to me as a reader. This is a great, diverting, romantic story with a touch of suspense.
Sophia was her father’s campaign manager for his re-election as District Attorney. She was an exceptional public speaker, clearly getting her message across while supporting her father. The fact that she cared deeply for the people in the district, and her country, was obvious every time she gave a speech. She didn't want to admit it but her life wasn't without drama. When she started getting threatening packages, her father hired ex-SEAL Blayze Brockton to protect her until the campaign was over.
Sophia was a head-strong, independent woman who you will want to cheer for and strangle both at the same time. She only accepted Blayze’s protection to appease her father but didn’t want, or let him, do anything for her. Blayze was focused on keeping her safe. Cancelling her speaking engagements was the best way to do that but Sophia was not happy about this and didn’t give in gracefully. Making things more difficult was their growing attraction. It was a distraction neither of them needed. I liked that they fell for each other quickly. It was frustrating that they didn't think the other felt the same way, making them hide their feelings. When it's the right one, you know right away, so why wait? The wait wasn't actually very long. I just felt like it was because I was rooting for them to get together.
I am always glad when Kimberly Krey has a new book and I get a copy to review. I love her writing and always get caught up in her stories. I highly recommend this clean romantic suspense.
Sophia’s father is District Attorney and he is up for re-election. Sophia is his campaign manager, taking over the position from her deceased mother. Someone is sending weird and psychotic-themed packages to Sophia, threatening her. The DA hires Blayze, a former Navy SEAL to protect her from harm, at least until the end of the campaign. Sophia is fiercely independent and she bristles every time Blayze tries to be a gentleman and hold the door for her or help her carry heavy items. This leads to much friction and frustration between the two. Will they be able to find a balance? And will their growing attraction for each other be too much of a distraction?
-‘Sophia lived a life of composure and poise. Microphones and big crowds were friends to her. TV interviews rarely made her flinch. So why did she have to get tongue-tied over this drop-dead gorgeous, totally intriguing, gentleman-as-far-as-she-could-tell man? Yeah, dumb question.’-
So far, I’ve read two of the books in this new series and, in my opinion, the authors are off to a great start! The stories are all clean romances, suitable for all ages.
This book is just what is needed for an afternoon of escape and relaxation. I loved the story of Blayze and Sophia, a retired navy seal hired to protect the daughter of a district attorney running for re-election. This book has loads of suspense, enough to keep you guessing until the very end. And then there is the romance growing between the two main characters. This makes for a wonderful read. I also loved the little peek into the happy life of Roman and his wife Tiffany, friends of Sophia and her family. I really enjoyed reading this book and would recommend it to anyone who enjoys a good, clean, romantic suspense.
I really loved getting to know Blayze & Sophia. They are both such strong characters! Sophia is smart, compassionate, and determined. Blayze is intrigued by the Spanish beauty right from the start, even if her feminist ways make him crazy. And Blayze—he’s got the physical strength of a warrior, but he also possesses a rare inner strength that Sophia can’t help but admire. Add to that the amazing chemistry, and we have all the makings of a yummy romance. There’s just one problem: Sophia’s in danger, and Blayze needs to focus on keeping her safe.
I loved this romance between,Sophia ,daughter of a D.A. and Blayze, her bodyguard, a retired Navy Seal. The suspense grabs you and pulls you through and the romance makes you stay a little longer. This book is recommended for clean romance fans.
I really enjoy a good clean romance as well as some suspense. This was a great combination of those. I enjoy hearing thoughts of both main characters and really enjoyed the back stories of each. I could recommend this book to all my friends!
Blayze and Sophia's story is unique. They meet at his mother's funeral. Not the typical place to start a relationship. He is soon hired to be her bodyguard and then the sparks fly. Another great addition to the Navy SEAL series!
It’s hard to stop reading this book because of the hunky warrior and the beautiful love interest. Throw in the intrigue and the reason they meet and you have to keep reading. This is a great series of “heart of a warrior “!
This was a clean romance. I enjoyed the characters but had trouble believing the relationship. For such a hardcore trained professional I felt he fell too hard too fast and let his relationship interfere with his job. It was a pretty good story otherwise.
Really enjoyed the stories and the character development was exceptional! Definitely recommend this book for someone who enjoys characters with a unique background!
Steamy, but clean romance! Great rhythm kept the storyline moving steadily to the end.
Loved that the protector was a tough yet tender retired navy seal and still a gentleman. Blayze.
His assignment Sophia is a tough cookie to crack wanting to do everything herself including open door and carry her own luggage. She’s not the damsel in distress type.
I am still reading this book but I just had to write down my thoughts. So far I do not like Sophia. She is coming off bitchy and uncompromising to me. I get that she's a feminist and believes in female rights. Im all for that, I agree with that however I think she's exactly what she dislikes. She judges men for being men. Several times already she makes comments about how she expects men to act or how they all act the same way. Shes clumping them all together and judging them for their sex. Its a double standard. If you expect to be treated with respect it goes both ways. She jumps at Braeden getting all prissy because he opens the door to his SUV for her saying she doesn't want to be coddled or have her independence taken from her. Ok, 1st of all he's your bodyguard. Shouldn't he make sure you make it into the bullet proof car safely. 2nd he opened a door, he didn't take her voting rights away. Then she's struggling to put 3 suitcases and bags into the SUV. Visibly struggling so he takes 1, only 1 bag from her and puts it in and she again goes with the dont take my independence from me. Seriously. If she saw someone else struggling, including Braeden, I would hope as a decent person she would try to help. Also she was also pretty smug about dating the mayors son. Even admitting in her mind she was proud of the fathers accomplishments more then the sons. To just date a man bc his father is politically connected seems completely shallow. I hope her character improves because as of now I do not like her. Ok so I started to warm up to Sophia. She admitted she has problems with men helping her but not women. She also has a reason behind it, as thin as it is. Then we get further and she ruins it again for me! Braeden doesn't want to take advantage of her. He starts to express that he's worried that her feelings for him are being affected by the situation. To which she replies "Oh, so it’s what I’m feeling that you don’t trust. Since I’m just an emotional girl I need to have my feelings put in check by Mr. Calm and Collected." Ok, I can see that a little. So he tries to tell her he's not explaining himself well and she interrupts him, tells him to stop thats he's proved he's strong and focused (which he has never said). Then stomps off in a hissy fit, completely proving her last comment about not being an emotional girl wrong. Im all over on this one. I warmed up to her again. The book is well written, the storyline very good. The 2 main characters just haven't been my favorite from this author. Sophia is still hit or miss for me but luckily by the end I had warmed up to her a bit more.
DNF 85% I can’t really label this as “clean romance.” True, there are (as of yet) no sex scenes, but honestly, there is so much time spent with the male and female protagonists thinking about having sex with one another, or wondering if the other person wants to have sex with them. It’s ridiculous! No time for romance bc the physical attraction is the main focus. *Spoiler* I lost respect for Sophia after she woke Blayne up out a dead sleep with a kiss and then proceeded to try and get into his bed. Then she gets mad at him for refusing her entrance bc he respects her. Sophia, you’re paying the guy to be your bodyguard, not a a male prostitute! The next day she claims she didn’t want sex anyways, only to cuddle bc she’s not that “type of girl.” Really Sophia!? HUGE eye roll on that one. The reason this I bumped it up to a 2 star is bc I enjoyed the suspense/mystery aspect. Unfortunately I don’t like the book enough to read to find out “who done” it.” 👉🏻If you were able to finish the book, feel free to reply to this review and let me know who the bad guy was.

This one was ok. I really liked Blaze, but I didn't care for Sophia. I liked what she stood for and the credit given to our armed forces and our country, but I didn't like Sophia. I think it had something to do with her throwing herself at Blaze in the cabin that night. I also didn't like it that she was so against basic human kindnesses like lending a helping hand with opening a door or carrying a bag. I didn't feel like they knew each other too well. Their love seemed more physical than anything else. It did keep me guessing til the end. The hostage scene was exceptional. What a rescue. It was clean. No language. No sex. But it was a little steamier than I care for. I probably wouldn't read it again.
This is the first book I’ve read by this author and I will definitely read more! I loved her writing and despite some religious stuff (which I hate reading despite being religious myself) I loved this book! The characters were fantastic and very believable, the story was interesting, and the romance was perfect. Fantastic read that I highly recommend!
Also I LOVE this author's stance on clean romances that still have steam! Sometimes clean romances are just too clean for me and I can't take it haha. Real people are sexually attracted to each other, it's a thing, and I love that Kimberly Krey didn't brush over that fact!
Like I said, I will definitely be reading the rest of her books!
Exciting book from the beginning. The excitement had me on chapter one and it was fast action. Navy Seal Blayze falls hard and fast for the stubborn Sophia that he has been hired to protect. Sophia is an activist that wants to be equal to men until she meets her protector, Blayze. With the help of his seal buddies and his and Sophia’s bravery she is rescued from kidnappers. Great read. Highly recommend if you like fast moving stories with a lively ending.
Another great book in this series. The love and intrigue that this story brings to life is so close to what can take place even in this world of today. The fact that a young woman went from one place to another to tell of the good things her father had done in his job as District Attorney shows. How much she loved and believed in him. This was a free book and another great one. This is my review and in my words only. Norma Gorrill
I really enjoyed the characters in this book. Sophia is a strong, independent woman. Blayze is a strong, deep thinking man that listens and analyzes everything carefully before rushing in, a part of his SEAL's training as a negotiator. Great suspense and romance.
Kimberly Krey gives her readers a heartfelt story with entertaining characters, intriguing storylines, a bit of steamy romance and stays within Christian values. Give this book a read !feel confident that you'll love it !
