This is the story of a WW11 Lancaster pilot who flew many successful bombing raids but never lost a crew member. It starts with his early years, then his training and experiences in the RAF, and contains a remarkable recording made on wire in 1943. It is told partly as interviews with a professional engineer who knew which questions to ask, and contains considerable technical detail. It is also the story of how he met and married a WAAF who talked down the Dam Busters after their successful raid.
