The Moon brothers know all about the fog of war—they’ve lived in its obscurity as the Allies fought their way across Europe. Now that Germany has been defeated, a new obscurity envelops them—a fog of peace—as the Western Allies clash with the Soviets in a series of provocations, blunders, bluffs, and deadly confrontations. To these battle-hardened veterans, the “peacetime” occupation of postwar Europe in 1945 feels little different than being at war.
A lifelong student of history, William Peter Grasso served in the US Army and is retired from the aircraft maintenance industry. His devotion to all things historical, military, and aviation remains unabated and continues to inspire his fiction.
Mr. Grasso is truly a master of historical fiction. His mastery of writing aerial and mobile armour fiction will be rated at the top of the heap with other autjors writing of the Civil War . Can't wait to check out his South Pacific heros.
A WPG. World War II German Peace Tour Novel (TFOP) (MBWWIIASB - 4)
WPG. has penned a World War II German peace tour novel titled, "The Fog of Peace" which begins with a Supply Depot being robbed by Russian who killed the NCOIC of the Supply Depot. They escaped with truck parts. Two GI's were arrested and blamed because they allegedly deserted their post. A senior Army NCO becomes involved and prove the two men innocent. Then the OSS become involved to determine what the Russians were attempting to do. The Army and Air Force were able to pinpoint the problems and finally determined the Russians were attempting to take over Germany. The new President, Truman, wanted a full investigation even asking if the Russians could blockade Berlin. This is an excellent read for the genre.....DEHS
Loved the fact that the author add some of what actually happened vis a vis the sacking of Patton and anti Russian comments. Sadly he was correct in his predictions that the Russia would be the next enemy
Really enjoyed the show of force toward the end. And I always forget about the black widow. Nice that he was able to bring that plane into the novel albeit in a cameo role.
Although I didn't think as much of this book as I did the previous ones in the series, it was still a pretty good read. Unfortunately, the appeal of this series is the detailed descriptions of the action and, not surprisingly, there is less action once peace is declared. Still well worth the read as it ties up some loose ends from the previous books.
I was transferred to a place of death and destruction! I love the thrill of danger these people faced... I could see all in my eye because each chapter was detailed in detailed description. If you enjoy war books like I do, I would recommend this series.
I thoroughly enjoyed this series! I had two siblings born at the 3rd Hospital in Heidelberg and I worked for the 3 rd General Dispensary, in Karlsruhe, a satellite of the 3rd Army Hospital in Heidelberg which made history by Patton.
I have read all seventeen of William Peter Grasso's books. They are all enjoyable looking forward to next book this summer. The third butter bar book. Thanks
Great ending to a series! Really enjoyed reading this book, actually wish he would have wrote a bit more about the end of the war but definitely worth reading!
Another fast paced and creative story from Grasso. Again, his writing makes for a comfortable reading session that makes you look forward to the next one.
