Death was once something for the Godhunter to fight, but now she knows him intimately. She knows that the Angel of Death can be beautiful, charming, and irresistible. Sometimes Death is a blessing, and at other times he can be a curse, but Azrael is always loyal and always loved. Until he resigned, that is. Then the Angelic Host was sent after him. But there is more to their actions than simple retribution. Someone is manipulating the Host, and if Vervain wants to save her husband, she must first discover the secrets of Heaven, Hell, and the heart of Death himself.

I love this series! Vervain is snarky, sarcastic and a strong female that doesn't lose who she is because she is surrounded by alpha men. Ms. Sumida has done another fantastic job with Blessed Death. She's able to write a rich and colorful world that you want to immerse yourself in, you want to become emotionally invested in her characters. I do miss Arach, the twins and the rest of the Fairie cast. They don't seem to get much face time lately. I was also hoping for more Toby interactions to bring him more firmly into the family, but he was relegated to being an insignificant extra in this book. Please don't add so many lovers that they no longer individually play important roles, and that the rest of the cast (God Squad & Friends and Residents of Fairie) that we've all come to know and love as much as Vervain no longer have roles either.
Vervain and her friends are enjoying life until there is an attack on Azrael. Now, they must figure out who is after him, and also keep the gods from recovering an ancient city. But there is a new god hanging around, and Azrael seems to be getting close to her. Vervain isn't worried until some strange things start to happen.
This book was okay. I was a little bit annoyed with how Azrael acted, and the fact that we didn't see much of his reaction towards the ending, but other than that I liked the story. And I'm interested in more in this series.
Aww i have really missed those guys, i love to follow the whole family. But i anticipated to read about Toby a bit more, i mean that i wanted him to be more involved and have more lines in this book I rate this overall around 3,5-4 maybe I will always need the next book in this series , lol
Was soo great to back and Vervain and the gang....
It was just amazing to be back with Vervain and her men and the whole gang out to protect the world from its self and the crazy gods out to bent on helping it along at times.... I loved all the crazy twists and turns.... I must say I don’t really understand Azrael anymore , he’s still a very beautiful and kind soul, but his former job as a reaper while maybe weighing him down and wearing him out also seemed to define his existence to the point he doesn’t seem to really know who he is with out it... Which of course while making total sense, since he was one for how long ? Thousands of years, but our art and humility loving angel didn’t seem to think beyond just quitting and that doesn’t make sense.... I mean if his abs Vervain’s twins were here or at least on the way that would make sense, because , well,I think we can all see Az as an awesome and amazing stay at home dad,( especially sense money isn’t an issue ) but here Az just seemed too aimless and to be honest a bit gullible and naive, I mean sure all know out of all her men Az has the kindest and most gentle of hearts but here Az seemed too innocent an naïve, and quick to turns too easily and quickly against ppl it doesn’t make sense to run against and too trusting of ppl for someone who has seen and done all the things he has... And even when he does find out he was listed by someone trying to use him and hurt ppl he cared about like Vervain, we don’t really get an apology from him or much of a reaction at all... which is odd... Hey, a woman comes along, becomes a fast friend, uses you, tried to hurt your marriage and nothing ? No that’s not right... Also while I loved the twists and turns and great research that shows thru beautifully in Ms.Sumida’s work,I just wish we could have had a few more breaks in the action where got to see V just be a wife and a lover and a Mom and not just rushing from once call for help to another,I love V’s adventures but I’d have loved a night out her or a day away there, where we just get to see her enjoying her life and or strengthening her bonds with one her men... Re just seem to bop in long enough to stir up trouble or get upset or jump to a conclusion about something and Toby while I don’t mind having him back, Toby just felt like little more than a name on the page and none of really sure why he was there.. Nothing to cement his being back amongst the group again ... Soo yeah, I had some niggles I need to get off my chest, but I love this series and I’m soo grateful it’s still going strong and I got to with them all again ...
Ps. Why weren’t Rian and Brevyn’s “Uncles” I.e. V’s other husbands, at the twins birthday party ? Especially Odin and Thor who consider Brevyn this son/grandson because of Ull’s soul in him ? That confused me,since fathers or not any child of V’s is special to them all and I’d think since V almost died giving birth to them it would be a day none of them would forget... Odd..
And one question ? Why no table of contents ? When the book is ending at 78% for samples of other books, why can’t there be a table there soo this of us who have read it all already, we can easily skip it ?
Please and Thank you , I had a great time... You give me a wonderful place to escape today when I dearly needed it..
P.s.s I also wanna say I really missed the bit where you give us a taste of what’s to come next ... I really missed that.. usually give me something to look forward to ..
I have had this book from awhile from KU. My book resolution for this year was to read more of KU and owned books. Last year, I read mostly library books.
I was also hesitant to read this one because I knew it was going to be some issue with Az surrounding another female, and I will admit this far along in a series, I am not a fan when this kind of story line is introduced. It's fine early on in a very long series, but not 23 books in. In this case, I will say it was very subtle, and I shouldn't have been worried. I know Vervain's men love her.
I do think she should have been just a tad bit more suspicion that Hades never mentioned Mac before. All in all, this was a solid addition to the story.
I enjoy returning to the God squad and all of their adventures.
I honestly didn't know I have a favorite from Vervain's harem until Azrael. I freaking adore him so much. Thus, I just can't accept how out of character he has been in here; his conflict is rather anticlimactic. I want clarifications from him, whether he's subconsciously harboring resentment to Vervain for encouraging him to leave his duties or whatever. Jfc. But god I really want him to redeem himself. (See favoritism.) Unless those loose ties aren't resolved, I might, in turn, harbor disappointment to a certain angel. Anyway, I miss Vervain and the gang dearly. This has definitely seemed too short huhuhu
I can't believe that this is book 23. If you have read this series it will have you pulled in from the first book and this book is no different than the other ones in the series. Not going to lie to you, sometimes my head gets a little confused with so many characters and I feel like I need a chart to keep up sometimes. the main boyfriend in this book is Azreal. I feel like that he has gotten more time that the other men in the series and I really need a Trevor book. I hope that his book is next. I like when the God Squad gets together. Overall not my favorite in the series but still really good
I loved meeting the guys again. V has plenty of time with Odin this time who, oh my, cut his beard! Again the plot is fast paced with plenty of action, they keep going from place to place to fix stuff, her angel get beaten up several times, V takes on Olympus as a ruler, we see read about the kid s growing and her dragon husband starts pushing her again for a new baby. Basically, all small plot lines have been continued which is great.
👎 I hate the ending!!!!!!!!!!! No, why would you do this to us lol????? I waited this long for another Vervain book and you leave it like this. Not to mention the teaser of next book :( I love this series and can't wait for another book!!! Any is an awesome & amazing author; most series this long drag on and are boring but all these books are different and awesome!! Thank you Amy for all awesome series, can't wait for any of new ones!!!!!
Another rousing hit, full of action, intrigue, and passion; Amy does a terrific job of bringing this book to life. Every single book that I have read in her series seems to get better and better. The characters are so well developed and thought out. They completely suck you in and make you love them, grieve with them and for them.
Finally! A return to good plotting, fast-pacing, and non-stop action. I enjoyed the whole book and all the characters. Some of the best puns and one-liners of the series, as well as a few unexpected twists.
I love all the books in the god hunter series and really can't wait for more it's one of my fav's and I hope it never ends best and longest RH series i have read and it just keeps getting better 😊😊😊
Wow...I can not believe that I stuck with this series for 23 damn books!! I think what kept me more involved than anything would have to be the twist Sumida did involving all of the pantheons based on human myths and such.
I love this series and this book didn't fail me. The story keeps going and I feel like I'm part of the God squad in some way! Now to wait for the next book!
I love the Godhunter series. I haven't read one in a while because I have been waiting on a few to come out so I could read them back to back. Amy never disappoints. I love the world that she transports me to with her writing.
Best RH ever. Only this author can reunite so many hot men in a single relationship without it looking fake. 5 stars because there is nothing better to give.
I still haven't finished this book. I'm afraid I've started to get bored with the whole Godhunter thing, it has started to become a bit repetitive and to be honest I'm struggling. Finally given up - maybe I'll come back to it.
I love The Godhunter series. Vervain is hilarious and I couldn't wait to read the next one every time. These books were awesome. Arach is my favorite. These were very well written.
This and the next story are very connected in terms of why certain events take place. The story is all over the place at times because the plot to to The Big Thing by the bad guys is also confusing on many levels but once all is revealed at the end the multilayered plan makes senses. Still not a favorite on its own but with the next book it evens out storywise.
Definitely not enough depth or concept. This one flew everywhere and in every direction. There was no pattern, it was a mess. It was not satisfying to read. At all. The action was ok, but as I said before, it went all over the place. The conflicts between characters were also insanely annoying and frustrating to witness.
