Dragon's Gift: The Seeker #1-5

Dragon's Gift: The Seeker Complete

Rate this book
It's time to face the magic.

I like my life—hunt down dangerous magic, stay alive. Two really simple goals. Except I’m a FireSoul, a dangerous supernatural whose power comes from dragons, and nothing is simple. Staying alive means keeping my secret, but when a little snafu lands me in hell, I run into the Warden of the Underworld.

He’s a one of a kind demon shifter—the sexiest, most powerful one I’ve ever met—and when I escape hell, he follows me, determined to drag me back. Obviously I’m not keen on going, and helping him catch an escaped demon gives me an opportunity to win my freedom. But I have to team up with him to do it. I'll have to use my forbidden magic to get the job done. It's a recipe for discovery… and disaster.

This boxed set contains all five books in the Dragon's Gift: The Seeker series. They're fast-paced urban fantasy adventures starring a kick butt heroine, a powerful hero, and otherworldly adventure.

description

Before becoming a writer, Linsey was an archaeologist who studied shipwrecks in all kinds of water, from the tropics to muddy rivers (and she has a distinct preference for one over the other). After a decade of tromping around in search of old bits of stuff, she settled down to start penning her own adventure novels and is freaking delighted that people seem to like them. Since life is better with a little (or a lot of) magic, she writes urban fantasy and paranormal romance.

Narrator Review: Laurel Schroeder
Distinguishable between characters: 5 Stars
Impersonating opposite sex: 5 Stars. She is one of the few female narrators that I think does an excellent job in this.
Accents: 5 Stars - very small Scottish brogue part.
Overall enjoyment of Performance: 5 Stars. Laurel Schroeder is one of my favorite narrators and I highly recommend audiobooks with her as the narrator.
Recommend audible version: Yes.

Story Review:
This audiobook boxset is over 29 hours long. I expected that I would listen to each book with a break in between but the writing was so good that I didn't want a break. I listened to this everyday until I finished.

It's full of action and the romance is a very small part, but Roarke and Del were always together and you felt their attraction and later their love. The romance is clean and would be great for a younger audience as well.

I was highly entertained by Del's challenges and the locations she and Roarke traveled to accomplish all they needed to to save the earth from the Shadows and the Demons.

Del is part of a group of 3 women who are firesouls that work together. Cass and Nix both have their own stories and you can bet I will be reading them.

The second 5-book-installment in Linsey Hall’s Dragons Gift series picks up where the first one left off. This one follows her sister Del as she unlocks her own mysterious past and powers.

This series picks up just after the first series finishes, it starts with Del waking up in Hell and the excitement continues from there.

Each of the five books in the series covers a different issue that she need to solve to complete her major task. Along the way we come across some really interesting characters, and some really nasty characters. There's mystery and adventure and a nice helping of romance, if fact there's not a dull moment to be found.

I really enjoyed listening to this series and I'll definitely be continuing on with the next series.

The narration is excellent, there were a lot of character voices and these were all well done and distinct, the delivery was a great match for the books, matching whatever was happening and helping me become immersed in the story.

I received a free copy of this book from the author and/or narrator and/or publisher and I voluntarily wrote this honest review.

My Thoughts on Dragon's Gift: The Seeker

This was a really good, highly entertaining collection. It contained all of the books in the Dragon's Gift: The Seeker series by Linsey Hall and are best read in order. Every story builds on the previous and takes our heroine Del through her journey of discovery about her past, her family, and her part to play in her prophesied destiny. I renjoyed every story in the series. I loved the progression of the story and how Del relies on friends and her family (born and chosen) to get through everything thrown in her path. I also loved Roarke. From the very beginning he was so supportive and understanding and patient. He was such a crucial person to the story and was an absolutely swoon worthy hero.

Once again Laurel Schroeder rocked the narration. I love listening to the life she brings to the characters and the different tones she provides to give everyone a distinct voice. She is a narrator I will never hesitate to download audio from.

I listened to the audio version of the whole boxset. Love that I can get the whole series for 1 credit! Totally awesome! The narrator does a great job and she has to do multiple voices, which she did really good at, so I’d recommend listening if you have the chance. I’d recommend reading Cass’ 5 book series before this one for a better reading experience. I really enjoyed both series and am excited to continue with Nyx’s books!

Fun, exciting kicking demon butt adventures! Loved that the Underworld is involved in this series! Lots of awesome magic use, and I loved the adorable hellhounds!

Del has a really cool phantom half, and she kicks some major butt. Nyx and Cass are involved in this series as well, and they all have some way awesome magical powers.

The romance is sweet and I loved Roarke! This series flowed a bit better than Cass’ series and it felt like it had more depth of character.

There was a bit that was too similar to Cass’ book series, but I still enjoyed each of the 5 books.

Fun, entertaining series!

AUDIOBOOK edition

When I see a book narrated by Ms. Schroeder, I know I'm in for a treat. She does both female and male voices with such ease making me wonder is it really one voice. Her accents and portrayal of emotions are well done. - 5 stars

I am glad this series comes in boxset and I was able to listen to the series without waiting. I thought I will be doing it in sections, but could not stop because the story kept me coming back for more. An exiting world, with unique paranormal powers with the main character, Del and her friends, Cass and Nix, along with their friends battling the Shadows to save humankind. There is a budding romance between Del and Roarke, I loved Roarke and how protective he is of her. - 4 stars

My first book from Ms. Hall, and I am looking forward to read Cass and Nix stories.

I loved this series. I thought Cass and Aiden would continue to be my favorite characters and I already started grieving the loss of their presence before starting this series, but Lindsey truly has a way of giving her characters their own personalities, so the comparison doesn’t even seem right. You really can read each mini series independently of each other, because although all the characters are still present, there is minimal mention of previous happenings. It’s really only focused on these MCs and their specific problems, no piggy-backing. I also really liked that Del’s story had more progression in the romance area since I felt that her presence was kind of overlooked for the first couple parts of Cass’s story. This was very fulfilling for all my questions about Del, and I can’t wait to read about Nix. Although, now I’m kinda interested in Connor…

Del’s Shadows

I love reading these series however this one was the hardest to finish and keep reading.

Del’s fight against the shadows was the main storyline fight in this series. What made this so hard for me to finish was Del’s constant whining. She lacked so much self-confidence and seemed to whine about it all the time. Cass & Nix have that too in parts but it seemed as if Del was over the top of it.

The final fight is always a good fight with a lot of action and I enjoy reading it.

I’m going to have to put this series down for awhile before reading the other characters series because this one just took too long to get through. Maybe a break will make it easier to read the other’s stories.

Audiobook review. The Dragon’s Gift: The Seeker Complete Series contains Del’s (Delphine) stories. The series is the continuation from Ms. Hall’s Dragon’s Gift Complete Series: An Urban Fantasy boxed set & has most of the same characters from the earlier series. Del’s story contains plenty of adventure, mystery, battles, and urban fantasy creatures to keep you interested. Ms. Schroeder did a nice job narrating and providing unique voices for each character. For those who prefer to avoid pauses between sentences, an audio speed of 1.25% works well. I received a free copy of this audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Great books

I really liked this series of books about Del Bellator and her friends. The trio and their friends try to fight dark magic constantly putting their lives in danger. But this trio of friends' story as told through Del's eyes are closer than sisters. The characters were very likable and the story pulled me in as though I was there with them. Could hardly put it down and i was a little sad when it ended.

Fun Series

Looking forward to reading all the interconnecting series by this author. Read them out of order, unfortunately. This was Del’s story, going back to read Cass’s series/story now.

Ms. Hall writes well, and plots even better. In some ways this series mirrors major plot twists and turns from one of her other series, but the characters and her supernatural identity make is "not boring". I recommend it.

Compelling

I enjoyed Dell's story. I was a little torn that she might turn to the side of evil. I truly love the support the three of them have together. I like that they do not need anyone but each other.
