The 'Hero Hunter' Garo is on his last legs battling the heroes; the Monster Association go after a significant new recruit; the Hero Association send mercenaries to do a hero's job; meanwhile One-Punch Man who's still out of the loop makes a huge decision. Not as dead pan funny as previous volumes, but we're now firmly in ongoing story mode, and each and every chapter is compelling as I wait expectantly for Saitama to get truly amongst the monster vs heroes’ ‘war’. A 7.5 out of 12 Three Stars for this one, but note I am now totally committed to this fascinating series.

my thoughts thorough the volume:

86: Is It Because I’m The Caped Baldy?
How come after all this time, King is STILL the one who gets all the credit for Saitama’s greatest victories?? I’M SO FRUSTRATED PLEASE ACKNOWLEDGE MY BOY.
Blast: *the shade intensifies*
You can call Sweet Mask an asshole all you want but you gotta admit that his principles are not to be dismissed. The boy only speaks in facts.
I’m living for Blizzard’s hilarious starstruck face every time she walks in on Saitama casually hanging out with a bunch of S-class heroes.
SAITAMA IS FINALLY SHOWING SIGNS OF PRIDE Y’ALL THIS IS NOT A DRILL

87: Hideout
I appreciate and accept this Garou fan service yes and thank you senpai 🙏🏼
Those Monster Association members’ character designs are BADASS

Extra: Confidence
“In reality Sonic just lost 2 kilograms from diarrhea” LMAO PLEASE

Man, this series makes me so happy.

...is the guy on the cover...The Punisher?!

One Punch Man vol. 17 continues to make me LOL all the way, the sense of humor is as great as usual and I like how there are more superhero cliches to be laughed out loud at! I hope the war between the Superheros Association and the Supervillains Society will have some major development soon!

How they tease the Garo and Saitama confrontation is pure torture. It is however nice that they're building up Garo's character and giving us more information on his background and abilities.

The beginning of the underground society is also a nice twist that gives this series the direction it needs.

Yours truly,

The Centichoro battle was amazing. And with Garo getting a whole ass character arc, I think it’s very important to ask: “if villain, why sexy?”

Lots problems for them all. It's indeed a huge pain in the butt.

AAWWWW ... sooo cute.. Saitama has a lot of friends now. Genos, King, Bang and his brother, and now Fubuki. Awwwww..

LOL. So the monster cells should not be cooked. LOL. Sonic is feeling he is having the monsterification process which in fact he just lose weight from diarrhea after eating it. LOL. So much fantasy.

Ohh so Garou is safe. I am curious where he is so heroes will know the monsters location.

Omg Saitama's wallet is gone. LOL... Fubuki is gonna pay now. LOL. She ate the fries. LOLOLOL!!!!!

Saitama is hilarious as always.

Though Garou claimed to be monster, he still has humanity in him. I like that he likes children. It's cute but he should really try his best to be a good person from now on.

One-Punch Man, Vol. 17 continues where the previous tankōbon left off and contains the next three chapters (85–87) of the on-going manga series with a bonus stories "Confidence".

The Monster Association kidnapped Garou, because while their numbers to the Hero Association are equal, they have fewer Demon Class Monsters. They want Garou to join their ranks, but to prove that he is monstrous – they challenge him to bring a head of a hero back to them within a day. Tailing him are Bug God and Royal Ripper, both Disaster Level Demons. Unfortunately, Garou runs into Saitama, who just punched him out with a simple tap. The tankōbon closes with Garou about to fight Bug God and Royal Ripper who determined that he was not demon enough to join them.

This tankōbon is written by One and illustrated by Yusuke Murata. For the most part, the tankōbon slowly continues as the Hero Association has three days to come up with an answer to the Monster Association threats. However, the Monster Association is not idly waiting for their answer, but taking an action by trying to recruit the kidnapped Garou. Hopefully, the narrative is pushed further in the next tankōbon.

All in all, One-Punch Man, Vol. 17 is a good continuation to a new series that seems really intriguing and I can't wait to read more.

I liked the cover, although there was only a few sporadic drawings of him in the volume. Garo's story continues with a flash back to childhood and a three way beat down until the monsters intervene. The best bit was Saitama effortlessly taking care of the centipede and the way it dies in the background. Funniest bits was Blizzard trying to recruit Saitama, and Sonic in the bonus. The rest was setting up the scene for the new fights to come.

One day...one day Saitama will be recognized. I do love his friendship with King, and how more and more S ranks are realizing just what a powerhouse he actually is.

Garo is proving to be quite a good secondary lead for these last few volumes, and I honestly get his motivations...even if he could probably just go about it a different way entirely. He still beat my boat Muman though, so he only gets so much of a pass.

I'm kind of surprised that I'm still enjoying this series as much as I am, especially after reading so many back to back.

¿A qué me refiero?

I have been kind of bored with this series lately because there has been so much focus on heroes and villains I do not care about at all. But! This one has some good Saitama and King, and an excellent cabbage comment, so I am happy again!

The cover is beautiful, but misleading 'cause Zombie Man only had two panels for himself. So, why he's on the front cover when his role is so so short in this manga? Why?! 😭

*Read for the YA Reading Challenge 2020*

This volume opens with a monster scooping Garo up and carrying him to safety before Bang, Bomb and Genos can finish him off. If any of that gibberish made sense to you, congratulations, you're going to enjoy this book. One of the biggest monsters in a while shows up and in turn on of the biggest monster fights too. There are plenty of teasers in the end: the rescue plan starts firming up, SEVERAL new monsters are introduced, Hellish Blizzard is recruiting again and Zombieman starts his story arc.

Overall, top notch and setting up a lot of really interesting plot points to come.

The fight within the first half of this Manga is fairly epic. Nice art and goog dialog.
King and Saitama finish off the giant mega millipede was clever.
Then we have the aftermath and lots of talking and moving the plot along.
I'm not sure whom I feel worse for Hellish Blizzard or Garo as both keep having their plans ruined.

Great Storyline!

Garo, was at the end of his rope fighting Genos, Bang and his brother Bomb. When someone swoops in at the last minute to join the fight.
I enjoy Saitama's obliviousnous, but love his attitude to everything and his overall justice.
Am interesting storyline to follow as we slowly start to see what the monster association is up to.

Great Volume!
It continues the momentum build from the last volume and maintains it well.
The setup for the next main volumes are properly completed in this one I think. I can't wait to see where everything goes from here.

I’m not sure if this phrase has some meaning in English as well or not, but Saitama is extremely being hero because “hero always show up late!” The scene Saitama appeared to beat the eldest centipede, he has shown up late and it is typical hero’s event I think.
