Oh man. This was so bad. But that's also kind of what I opted to read it? I was looking for basically a book version of a Hallmark movie. And I got it.
The thing about these billionaire romances (besides the fact that the females are all basically interchangeable) is that they never actually act like billionaires or have any real explanation for being billionaires. The main character here "owns his own consulting company" which is super vague. We never see him actually do anything. It adds nothing to his character. And people handle it waaaayyyy calmly all things considered.
Overall this was an annoying story about two juvenile people who never got over their high school relationship. Most of their problems could have been fixed with a single conversation but instead we get to wade through their mood swings. First book was better.

This was a clean fun fluffy beach read. Not super strong writing but done in a couple of hours with good characters, good feeling, good romance. I usually don’t love when a plot is based on bad communication but forgave it for this book.

Sweet clean romance

This was a sweet clean love story. STOP don’t get me wrong it was AMAZING. You got your heartache, drama, nosy parents, rich ex and all the others you can think of. This was a beautifully written story from Bree. So so worth it.

Good

I’m not the biggest fan of this story. The writing is very good. The emotion and feels jump off the page. I just didn’t care for the plot of the book. I didn’t care for how weak Grayson appeared. I get he was young and insecure, but the way he left didn’t work for me.

I am inexplicably drawn to the second-chance romance trope and was unable to walk away from this particular one, despite my usual aversion to books with such uncreative titles. However, I think the “clean billionaire” part is what hooked me because, really...when else have I seen billionaire not also paired with playboy or bad-boy or some other such nonsense? Never, I tell you!

The story started out sweet, and emotional, and I loved how the big mystery as to why Grayson left wasn’t dragged out forever - at least not to us as readers. When our hero and heroine were reunited, I liked how Grayson was apologetic and didn’t come blowing back into town all macho and like he owned the world (you know...like most billionaires would), and that Emma expressed her anger, but wasn't ridiculous about it. They had a lot of hurt going on between the two of them, and I felt it. Grayson and Emma were likable characters, and I so wanted them to find their way back to each other after 10 years apart.

But...things went downhill when Grayson and Emma started spending more time together. There was too much “internal monologue” that repeated the same thing...I got that they used to be best friends the first three times (of the 13 times - I did a search) it was mentioned, and it kept being repeated over and over. This is a shorter novel, and an author just can’t afford to waste words saying the same things. And then there was the whole “her Gray” (17 times) and “his Emma” mentioned over and over. Gag. (Once or twice would have been fine.) Even though this book was written in third person point of view, it seemed like it was written in first person because too much time was spent on what the hero and heroine were thinking. And because those thoughts were the same throughout the book, instead of feeling emotional about Gray and Emma’s situation, I became annoyed.

I am a total sucker for second chance love stories. Especially one where the couple was driven apart by outside forces and they never stopped loving each other. It was refreshing to read about a man who still wanted to be with his first love so strongly that he hadn’t been with anyone else in ten years. Throw in a meddling older sister, a scheming father, and unanswered questions about the past, and this book had all the makings of a really great story. Sadly, this one just tanked for me in the execution.

I loved the first book in this series, but while this second one was still cute, it didn't have that extra something (okay, okay - a cruise!) to make it stand above and beyond most other chick-lits, so I don't if I'll continue on with the third book in the series.

That said, it was still cute. I really liked both Grayson and Emma, and enjoyed Emma's sister being so very big-sisterly to both of them. I liked that the "mystery" of Grayson's leaving wasn't left a mystery to the reader for long, and that Grayson actually decided to confide in somebody... even if that 'somebody' wasn't the person it ought to have been.

As romances go, it's a dime a dozen, but it was still a good comfort read... even if it couldn't quite live up to the expectations set by the first one.

enjoyed reading about Grayson and Emma. This story happens to a lot of young people in love. When someone interferes and changes the course of their love story.you feel on an emotional level what the characters are going through. It is clean refreshing story. Not all young people are so blessed to be able to overcome. Grayson feels that he can’t tell Emma the reason he left and it’s definitely a good one. But she is so hurt, she barely functions for ten long years going from job to job trying to find her way and yet make her dad proud of her. Her sister Nic got the answer as to why he left but while she tries to find the "Letter" she tries to get Emm and Grayson to relive some memories....Yet Emma does attempt to get the answers from him; by fair means and foul. Grayson’s humility and unselfish personality occasionally work against him. He also has a stubborn streak and it takes some serious pain to get past that stubbornness. Grayson and Emma won in the end. The journey is still worth reading about. and we get to read some about Tristan too :)

Her Second Chance Billionaire Sweetheart (3 1/2 stars)

It’s amazing how different this book was from the one before it- such a different feel.

The villain’s motives were of the best, he’s not as over the top as in the last book, yet he did make them lose 10 years of their lives.

Emma and Grayson have so much history together. We, as readers, get to re-live the stories with them. They are delightfully written memories.

Grayson feels that he can’t tell Emma the reason he left and it’s definitely a good one. She’s so hurt, she can barely function. Yet she does attempt to get the answers from him; by fair means and foul. Grayson’s humility and unselfish personality occasionally work against him. He also has a stubborn streak and it takes some serious pain to get past that stubbornness.

Great HEA!

Wow! That was an emotional roller coaster.
Emma was on a see-saw. She was up and down too many times.
Grayson was so over the moon for her but he was so worried about her father disowning her.
Their friendship and love was established from an early age. Once they came of age, they decided to get married. But then, her dad! And Gray took off.
Now he's back and successful but still Gray. Emma was still livid about him leaving (rightfully so).
But there were so many emotions; I mean, wow!
This was a cute read but not really a "fun" read. It was very hard to swim through all the emotions.
I'm not sure I'll continue the series. I tend to drift more towards fun over-the-top hilarious stories. But we'll see.

Young love

This story is about high school boyfriend, girlfriend that fall in live and make plan to someday marry. The dad of the girl wants the best for her and a college education and thinks there love is just young love. Boy ask to marry girl and dad says NO and if they do then he will dis own his daughter. So said boy leaves town with out a word and comes back ten years later. Has made something of his life and still loves the girl. Lots happens and alot comes to conclusion and dad is the liar in the whole thing. Lots of trust issues and confusion on feelings and all revolves around family and the teenage lovers. Good read.

Pitiful

This is a 'romance' that can only be described as pitiful. Alpha male H, left his hometown sweetheart, and became a billionaire. Now he is back, still in love with the sweet h, he loved as a child.
They are both free, and still very much in love. So, they do what I guess any...well, nobody would do in similar circumstances. That is, they dance around each other, round and round, till the point of dizzying. And maddening. And ridiculous.
And I gave up on the whole stupid thing, at the 56% point. For me, this was a huge waste of time.

I'm so glad we got to know Grayson's story. After getting to know him in Her Pretend Billionaire Boyfriend, I really hoped we'd see him again. I never imagined though, that his story would be so heartbreaking. Man, when he loves he loves with his whole body and sole. He made some poor choices at 17, but I honestly can't imagine a 17-year-old doing any different. I'm grateful his love was sweet Emma. She is fun and sassy and definitely earned her nickname Emma Sunshine. This book made me laugh and cry, but it was a great story that kept me up later than it should.

3.5 stars. There were definitely some parts of this book I liked, and I generally enjoyed the plot. This book is longer than it needed to be and some of the dialogue felt very repetitive. I liked Gray's sensitivity in theory, but I found myself rolling my eyes when he cried early in the book. It just didn't feel necessary and didn't endear me to him. Also, the 10 year separation seemed excessive. I could believe that she never got over him and he never looked at another woman for a shorter period of time, but 10 years?!

DNF @ 34%

First of all, this book does have its cute moments. Just putting that out there. But I just can’t take the constant thinking about THE PROBLEM between them. It feels like every second or third sentence is one of the MCs thinking about THE PROBLEM and never getting any closer to solving it. News flash- a simple, honest conversation would sort it all out. I’m usually ok with light and fluffy books with minimal problems to overcome. But I like there to be multiple little roadblocks, not a harping in about the same one over and over again.

I purchased a copy of the full length novel Her Second Chance Billionaire Sweetheart:A Clean Billionaire Romance book 2 by Bree Livingston and this review was given freely.
Tristan's best friend and fellow billionaire Grayson returns home for a faked crisis resulting in a rocky reunion with his one true love and high school sweetheart Emma.
This is a story of low self esteem, a shy introverted and sensitive billionaire who does not have a lot of common sense, controlling parents, caring manipulative but supportive sisters, and a second chance at love.

Truth and Consequences

One lie cost ten years. But who was the liar? And why?
Grayson and Emma had been in love since they were children. So why did he leave without a word the day after their high school graduation? The day after they had planned their married life?
But now he's back. So can he stand being in town again?
How can she win him back?
Does she really want to?
Once again Livingston convinces us her world is real.
Recommended for all readers who love romance.

Same thing over and over

This is the second book in the series and both books have been filled with stupid reasons why the couples aren’t getting together that I couldn’t suspend my disbelief about. And the “I love you but I can’t be with you” bit over and over again gets seriously old. It’s a terrible and lazy way to build a plot and tension. I’m done with this author and her books.

I usually really like this author’s stories.

We still are circling around on page 130 without ANY forward motion. Gray was a character in the first book of this series, and he seemed like a man who was intelligent and good at problem solving. This book makes him look like a wuss. (I liked the first book.). And I really like a good, clean, romance - which is generally what this author writes.

Disappointed

Emma and Grayson love each other since grade school, and at graduation he purposed to her and asked for permission to marry her. Her dad said no, that he was not good enough, so he left town without letting her know. Grayson makes a name for himself and comes back. His reaction to Emma, made him look wimpy. It ended with me not liking either of them.

A light and enjoyable read, although similar to many other story lines out there. I would have liked a little more excitement/drama, although there was plenty going on, it lacked lustre/WOW factor. I have been generous with 4*, but this novel was certainly worth more than a 3* Shame theres no 3.5* to give.

This series...!

This series introduced this author to me and I'm loving every bit of her writing. Such sweet, heartfelt romance. Grayson and Emma had a love for the ages. The forever kind. Her father's meddling stole ten years from the two of them. Is that too long for a second chance?

Eye opening

This book contained many elements. Humor, food for thought, inspiration and romance. Grayson and Emma were robbed of ten years of love and happiness due to her father's ideal of what he wanted for Emma. Thru out the book you keep cheering for Emma and Grayson that they might get together and get their HEA.

AMAZING!!!!!

This is an amazing book. It just goes to show that when one thinks he or she tries to control another's life, they would do well to just butt out; they'll just going to screw up. No one has the right to interfere in someone's life, I don't care if it is your child. You'll just cause a lot of heartache and pain.

The tears kept flowing

I had a soft spot for Grayson in book 1. From the moment book 2 started I was fighting for Grayson and Emma to get back together. I was so drawn in and hurting right along with them and then celebrating with happy tears at the end. Excited to read other books in the series.

Emma and Grayson's story is wonderful. After 10 years away, Grayson returns to Newton for a family reunion. His reason for leaving is still a secret to his best friend and girl he had talked to about marrying him. He is surprised to find her still single and they work hard to restore their friendship.

Grayson and Emma

Grayson is a sweetheart.

Emma just irked me, it was her over the top high school reaction to Grayson when he came back to town after 10 years. I also thought she was too manipulative. Her father was an @$$h0le.

I think Grayson could have done much better than the girl stuck in high school.

This was fun. Drama, humor and romance in a story with a plot I hadn't seen before, with good characters and writing. The resolution s a little too easy, but this is a good read.

Her Second Chance

This was a clean romance. She lost her boyfriend ten years ago when he disappeared after graduation. He is back in town and he has the answers for her. But will she believe him? I enjoyed the story line. Even separated they stay true to each other.
