Jeanne Glidewell, a 2006 pancreas and kidney transplant recipient, and her husband, Bob, reside in the quaint little coastal town of Rockport, Texas. They previously owned a large RV Park in Cheyenne, Wyoming for 12 years, which gave Jeanne the idea for the Ripple Effect series. Her main characters, Rip and Rapella Ripple, are full-time RVers, with Rapella solving murder mysteries along the way in their travels. Her other (and first) cozy mystery series, the Lexie Starr mysteries, involves a 50-year old library assistant who meets and marries an east coast jeweler named Stone Van Patten. Together they renovate a historic Victorian mansion and turn it into the Alexandria Inn in the fictional town of Rockdale, Missouri. Lexie can’t help getting involved in murder cases taking place in and around the B&B.
All of Jeanne's novels - a romance suspense novel titled Soul Survivor; 7 books and 1 holiday novella in her Lexie Starr series; and 7 books in her Ripple Effect series - are available at nearly every eRetailer site in both eBook and paperback formats. "The Spirit of the Season" is a holiday novella (short novel) she wrote to benefit her local chapter of the Toys for Tots program, with all her proceeds going to help children in her (Leavenworth) county have a merrier Christmas. Jeanne appreciates your support in this endeavor. Jeanne’s next release, book 8 in the Ripple Effect series, titled The Grim Ripper, is expected to hit bookstores in May 2023.
Ms. Gladwell tells an interesting tale butI found the protagonist, Lexi Star to be such an idiot. She gets herself into life threatening situations on a weekly basis. She lies to her fiance, Stone, constantly. Lexi bumbles through life careening from one mishap to another. I enjoyed the story but I found myself wanting to smack some sense into Lexi on numerous occasions.
Lexie Starr is a widow with a daughter in her 20s, who meets Stone and is attracted to him. Over the course of the first three books, they become good friends and lovers. However, I found her a rather annoying person; always horning in on police cases to "help" (although in most cases they did need it!), and always ending up getting herself in trouble or nearly killed, much to Stone's dismay. He is always trying to protect her, and she is always sneaking around to snoop into things he would rather she stayed away from.
Leave No Stone Unturned Lexie accidentally finds that her son-in-law may have murdered his first wife. Desperate to protect her daughter Wendy, she starts looking into his past. Then Wendy is abducted. Lexie and her new friend Stone go looking for her.
The Extinguished Guest Stone has bought a local house and turned it into a B&B, with Lexie's help. The Historical Society has moved in for the inn's grand opening. When the president of the society is found murdered in his suite, the rest of the society must stay for longer than expected - not that they mind being waited on hand and foot. Lexie of course decides to "aid" in the investigation, to her peril.
Haunted The B&B has been converted to a haunted house for Hallowe'en. A college student playing the part of a vampire in his coffin, is found dead. This second death in the inn in just a few months threatens to ruin their business. Lexie decides to solve the murder, against the wishes of Stone and her daughter Wendy.
The stories were entertaining, despite the idiocy of the main character. But I don't plan to read any more of this series.
I can't imagine how even a fictitious character in a cheep novel could be as crazy as Lexie Starr. But even more unbelievable is how a man like the character Stone could e crazy enough to not run for the hills let alone ask her to marry him. If this weren't fiction, this woman couldn't hope to live through another episode.
In this mystery I like how everyone comes together in a serious crisis. How even though Stone and Lixie were so worried about another murder happening In their B & B. They were amazed how the guest supported them by coming and staying a the B & B. Then how Lexie wouldn't quit in her surch to solve the murder. Then how she kept her head her head during a life and death emergency. There's many suspects and a lot of life & death action in this one. Jenner Glidewell doesn't disappoint her readers in this suspense again she delivers the goods, I've found each bok next in her series gets better than the last. The author always leave you eagerly wanting to read the next one. They never leave the reader disappointed. Debra H.
Love the first book. Enjoyed the character and the writing. The character development was nice and Lexie working with Stone made a nice story. For some reason, in books two and three, Ms. Gildewell decided Lexie should take investigating on her own. Unfortunate. The quality of the mystery solving was diminished and this also affected the quality of writing. By the third book, I had tired of Lexie Starr's consistent poor choices. After the first time of getting injured, a smart 50 year old would backed off. How thick can someone be?
Light, moderately entertaining reads. I did end up reading all of them, but was skimming heavily toward the last. Book one is the best. By book three, I was tired of Lexie. She started out claiming she was a bad liar. She was bad at lying, but that never stopped her from going off on hairbrained adventure no matter how dangerous and lying to her significant other about just about everything. She was also obvious about disliking people (women) with weight problems and other physical problems.
Wow. I had a hard time putting my kindle down. Each murder mystery got better as unread. Could not figure out the murderer in each story. I loved the main characters and how their lives got more involved. Thank you. Stay well . My sister was a kidney transplant patient. Her daughter gave her a kidney. It really is a gift of life. It was nice meeting you through your writing.
Meet Lexie and her daughter Wendy. By the middle book of the first book you add in a jeweler named Stone and his nephew Andy. All three books are a continued story but each book contains a full story. The three books are filled with murder, kidnappings, attacks, car chases and life in a Bed and Breakfast. It's also several love stories. Fun to read.
I enjoyed all three books very much. The first book was extremely suspenseful, and was my favorite of the three. Book 3 was almost as good, and book two only a little less as good as the other two. I will certainly be on the lookout for other books by Jeanne Glidewell. She is an excellent auther.
She just can't leave good enough alone. She goes on to interview suspects beyond the usual ones. Usually gets into more trouble and problems. Keep it up girlfriend, way to go.
The first story through the third book was entertaining to read Of course, like any mystery series it can become predictable. It was a clean, good, fun read.
Lexus State is hilarious!! This set was funny & entertaining. All of Lexie's antics will either have you laughing out loud or cringing at her ability to get stuck in the most ridiculous situations!! 😆
I started out enjoying the first book, but the main character’s personality reminded me of a 12 year old girl. The plots were simple, with too much fluff in between sequences. Lexie became annoying and predictable. This series is not for me.
Cute fast read. These little cozy mystery, featuring Lexie, Stone and their bed and breakfast. They seem to find dead body's with a incredible need to get involved. Sometimes I'm shaking my head then I'm chuckling. Nice way to spend these cold winter nights.
I basically skimmed through the first story from about1/2 way through it, just to see who might be guilty of what. I might well, eventually, go back to the other two.
I love a good mystery. Especially one where you cannot figure out who did it until the end. This is that kind of mystery. The author is a very good writer.
I started out liking the main character, but ended up finding her annoying, selfishly intrusive, and foolish. I can't really understand how her boyfriend can put up with her.
