The temperature isn’t cooling down in the little town of Easton.Dr. Amelia Sanders has spent the last year settling into her new life in the small town of Easton. She has established herself as a trusted veterinarian at the local clinic, she made some good friends and she has done her best to keep away from the man she secretly has a crush on, Jackson Dalton.
That is until he comes walking into her clinic with a hurt puppy.
Jackson Dalton has kept to himself since he came back from the war, never getting too deeply involved with a woman. Working as a firefighter and spending time with his friends gave him enough satisfaction.
But one look at the puppy Inca, hurting on the side of the road, and his life instantly changes. Not only does his heart start to open up to her, but he finds himself attracted to the sexy Dr. Amelia Sanders.
A romance begins between the two lost souls. But Amelia is harboring a secret, one that can destroy their newfound happiness. When Jackson finds out, will he be able to forgive her, or will his own demons keep the two lovers apart?
MacKenzie Stowe began her love of reading and writing when she was very young. A hopeless romantic she likes to write stories about hot handsome men and the strong women who tame them. She loves her boyfriend, chocolate, wine and her animals but not always in that order. She is happily living in Sunny Southern California as she thinks up her next romantic story
CAN YOU FALL IN LOVE WITH A CHARACTER??? Oh man! I got this! I could follow the path of every reader and tell you the same things, but quite frankly, I'd be bored to tears. I think I'll just cut to chase. What do you think? Alrighty then. If you want fast and furious or slow and steady, I'm not sure which would win out. If you like an easy to follow, steady paced, smooth flowing read that captivates and holds your attention, then my friend you found it. Mac has an amazing gift that transported me from my humm drumm life to to be a part of her world first hand. Not on the sidelines. The storyline is as engrossing as the details are vivid bringing this read to such heights I was awestruck. The characters and scenes are so realistic and exciting the way they blend and meld is remarkable. I fell in love with the main characters as I watched them transform and grow before my eyes. Mac definitely has a unique style that carries through the entire tale. Its like she leaves a piece of herself with each scene. I look forward to reading and getting to know this fantastic artist as she continues to give freely of herself and bring new worlds to life for our enjoyment. Thanks Mac for sharing such an incredible read.
This is Book 2 of an interconnected series of books about three best friends that joined the army together, left together and became firefighters. This story is about Jackson (Jax) who suffered from depression after his K9 companion, Katie died. Things unravelled for him and he returned to his hometown of Easton to recover and cope from his loss. He had an extremely strong attachment to his deceased canine companion. Amelia, a vet staying in Kent sees the article about him and is so drawn to him that she moves to Easton to be closer to him, despite not knowing or meeting him in person. Their paths cross a year after she has settled in Easton when Jax brings in an injured dog, Inca for treatment. Jax is immediately attracted to her and despite her initial resistance, pursues her. This story is well written and has a good storyline. I did get a bit frustrated with Amelia at times as she kept putting off her confession about why she moved to Easton in the first place. The characters were believable but I did not really connect with them and I found the book dragged on a bit in some parts. There were one or two grammatical errors but nothing that detracted from the story. I did like the ending though I wish there was an epilogue.
This is sweet, heartwarming, romantic and steamy. Jackson is a charismatic and caring guy who is still adrift after losing his dog. Amelia is an independent and determined woman who became fascinated with a man in a picture, the picture being Jackson with his dog Katie. She moves to his hometown, but doesn't try to meet him. She does however find her home. Then Jackson brings an injured puppy to her office. But it's not love at first sight, at least not her for Jackson, but both fall for the puppy, and Jackson for her. It's sweet and a little amusing to see what lengths he'll go to in order to get a date with Amelia, and adopt Inca. When he finally gets his wish, it becomes hot and heavy between them. There are a couple of shocking moments near the end. One which makes Gabe into a major jerk. This is a great series so far, it'll be interesting to see what happens between Gabe and Thea. I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author. This is my honest and voluntary opinion of it.
Loved the narration from CJ Locks, who brings the romance and steam to your ears.
Vet Amelia is a romantic at heart, when she see Jackson in photo after he lost his military service dog Katie it broke her heart. She kind of stalks him and moves to his home town. She has this idea of what he is like and the first meeting breaks her bubble. Jackson on his first impression came across as arrogant not the man she believed. But first looks can deceive. Jackson knows he is good looking and is not used to woman saying no, but his heart is big and caring. Throw in a puppy that is hurt, needs a new home and a fireman that will not let go of the woman in his thoughts. These characters will get you, stubborn, flawed, caring and when together very steamy.

I loved reading Smolder; I think that it is my favorite in the series so far. I love Jax and Amelia. I had such a good time with the banter. I loved Jax in book one, so I was really excited to see him in this book. I am looking forward to reading book 3 that's for sure. I like that the narrator is the same, so it keeps the theme the same and you're not trying to reorient yourself with who is who. I love that this is a vet and firefighter romance. I have always secretly enjoyed reading first responder romance books. I liked that this one had more suspense; it kept me interested, and I didn't want to put the book down. This is more for 18+ readers as there's some content that may not be suitable for some readers.
I read all of the books in this trilogy, including the prequel as there are really four books, back to back and pretty much devoured the individual books in one sitting!
I thought that they were all great book, full of firefighters as you would expect and I do love a firefighter!
Each book had its own very strong storyline and they were brilliant. Well written and additive reads that I didn’t want to put down and as soon as I finished the previous book I was straight in to the next one in the series.
It was full of passion, romance, strength and they were very sexy reads – I loved them!!
It is 5 stars from me for this one – very highly recommended!
This is a FANTASTIC audiobook with a fantastic narrator.
The main characters, Amelia and Jackson, are so lovable. They really have you rooting for them the whole time! The secondary characters are also so likable and really add to the story.
Amelia is a vet that just moved to the town of Easton. Jackson is a a firefighter in Easton. When he finds an animal in need he ends up taking it to the vet where Ameila works. Their story takes off from there.
This is a unique story that will keep you wanting to listen!
I LOVED this audiobook and would highly recommend it to those that love romance and firefighters!
Smolder by MacKenzie Stowe is an excellent small town romance. C.J. Locks did an incredible job with the narration. Smolder is the second book in The Easton Firefighter Trilogy. The story is entertaining, interesting, enjoyable, engaging, romantic, steamy, and more. Dr. Sander is a vet in the small town. Dalton is a loner firefighter, who has PTSD from the battle field. But after Dalton finds a hurt puppy things started to change. Can the puppy help heal Dalton? Can the puppy bring them together? I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review. Highly recommend.
I received an ARC copy of this book and I voluntarily chose to review it. I enjoyed this book. I identified with the female character I could have been her. Always remember that dogs make life better. This is the second in this series, I haven't read the first book but I plan to. I encourage everyone to get this book and the first one. I don't do spoilers but I can say the dogs help make the story. For me it was a quick easy read, it is one for a lazy afternoon read. Well written story.
A dog brought them together! Katie a war dog lost overseas!
His picture was in paper tears for the loss! A vet decided to move where he lived! She works in clinic a doctor in veterinary medicine! Wish all war dogs came home! Vietnam war dogs were peoples dogs given to Army! Left behind in cages so VC could kill them slowly! Bet it took a long time for the devil dog to die! Prayers for all war dogs and police dogs adults only please!!
Amelia is a vet who has moved to town after seeing an article about Jackson and his beloved dog, whom he lost. Weirdly, she doesn't try to meet Jackson or get to know him until he comes into her clinic a year later with an injured dog he found. Their attraction is immediate but there are a lot of obsticles they have to overcome before their hea.

Great series. Love the hot men and the women they rescue. Each story is special in it's own way. This one especially. Love that there are no cliffhangers. It is exciting, fun, suspenseful, hot and so much more. I was given a review copy and voluntarily review it.
This is an easy and fun read. The storyline is very good with plenty of chemistry, hot firefighters, and their love interests. I enjoyed this captivating book. I voluntarily read an ARC and this is my honest review.
An awesome book. Extremely entertaining, captivating and interesting sexy read. I could not put it down. Wonderfully written with strong, intriguing characters. I want to read more from this author. I voluntarily read and reviewed an Exclusive Advance Reader Copy of this book.
I liked this for the most parts. Some editing needs to be done. There are some inconsistencies in some facts. And her personality seems to change as they get closer. I didn’t like her for him in the end. But glad they got their HEA.
I loved this book. It came just after I also lost my dog so I could related to Jax’s hurt and heartbreak. In this book is laughter, love heartbreak and acceptance. Read it you will be glad you did
Very enjoyable romantic story between a sad veteran/firefighter and a veterinarian, where they are brought together by an injured puppy. I liked this story, good plot, great characters.
Amelia moves to Easton after seeing Jackson with his dog, Katie, in an article about military dogs. She's inspired by their story and drawn to the small town, but can't seem to bump into Jackson, even though she's friends with his sister. As a veterinarian, she ends up treating a pup he brings in with a broken leg. Can she resist him when he begins pursuing her? Jackson has avoided getting a new dog since loosing Katie and coming out of the military. When he finds a pup on the side of the road, he not only feels a draw to her, he feels a draw to the new vet as well. Will he be able to charm Amelia as well as he does the pup? Great story with great characters! I really hope we get another story from this bunch!
