Katrina baker is a super and she was banished just a month ago to a world of gods, magic, and evil races. A place without plumbing, electricity, Facebook, and lattes.
Katrina believes she’s balanced her morality and desire to be a hero with the harshness of her new world. That balance will be questioned, as Jendas invades, and she must choose if she should fight or not.
Things look dire as they race home as quickly as possible from Belirith, the dwarven mountains, but the future is also filled with hope and possibilities, and the promise of her dreams.
I've been an avid book reader since I was a teenager in the 1980's. My preferred genre's are science fiction and fantasy.
I wrote some short stories and was encouraged to try writing and self publishing by some friends. I work in computers and writing is an obsessive hobby I have been trying to hone for a couple of years now. I'll let you judge if I have succeeded or not.
As the last book in the series, this book still contains surprises.
***SPOILERS***
The situation which was introduced in the previous book with Baron Bryce is resolved pretty quickly and rather painlessly for Katrina. Instead this book focuses on the war which was threatening in the previous book. Katrina is faced with the perennial problem of soldiers in a war: how do you kill enemy soldiers without becoming a hardened killer?
I've enjoyed the whole Katrina Baker series. Easy to read with enough intrigue to keep the story flowing plus ending on a positive note. With the current Civic 19 pandemic they provide a level of escapism from day to day life without too much effort. If you like magic these are a good option.
Loved the characters and plot! Really liked how the mc dealt with the war. An enjoyable series, will be following this author! Perhaps there will be novellas set in this world yet...!
This was a very satisfying end to the Katrina Baker series. The introspection of our hero seemed, to me, a little over the top. But, I understand why the author went that route. I also wouldn’t mind a continuation of the story from sometime in her future.
The Katrina Baker series has been one of my favorites since discovering the initial premise. Now, with the closing of the fifth and final book, I’m thinking I might look into other books by the author. Maybe they’re just as wonderfully unique?
