A wonderful tool for your daily practice. If you're anything like me (typical overzealous and eager Western mind) just listen to it through once, mark tabs, make notes and then work through it daily however you choose. The audio edition is only marked by chapter numbers and you'll want to find your way around later so don't hesitate to tab, take notes and label the chapters if you need to. There is no print edition to go along with this to help you find your way around.
I wasted a lot of time by thinking about this as I would any other fiction/non-fiction audio book and that kept me picking it up and putting it down because the timing wasn't right to practice, only listen. Finally, I just realized that I've got to see what's in here to figure out how to work it into my day to day because it is a program. And although I can't listen to this and practice from it initially (I'm a beginner)... while I'm cooking, let's say. Once I get the practice down, I can do this while I cook, garden, do laundry, etc. but that's going to take some time and lots of practice.
Yes, this can and probably should be worked through from start to finish by a beginner. If you think that you're beyond beginner status I don't know how you can work through this in the audio format because the chapters are only numbered and lack language for you to find your way around without the notations I suggested doing above. And, if you think you're beyond beginner status... heads up! that's your ego and you should probably take a step back and just enjoy being a student during this program - it's fabulous! In addition to practice exercises, the author provides much insight and information to help you grow.
Narrated by the author, I enjoyed his voice and found the experience relaxing and comforting. You too will sense that you are in good hands. This is the program you always thought you'd have to step out of your world and move to a monastery to experience. And, that's the point! We don't have to leave the world that we know to achieve inner stillness, we are supposed to bring the inner stillness to our world!
Download this audio, keep it close, share it with like minded friends and family. I believe that you can achieve what it claims if you practice and work at it. It's going to be hard for me but I also believe that once we walk through that fire of difficulty, no matter how strained our efforts may feel, there is something to achieve and that's growth.
The work never ends. It's called Life. Don't fight against it. Learn how to make it enjoyable. You too can have a guru in your pocket ;)
