For one man Charlotte answered to the name Cassiopeia. The man she called Master was named Francois Rene de Hart. Today, after 18 years, she received a package that will allow her to live that life again. How will she let herself return to the only man that ever made her happy when returning to him means changing her whole life?

I actually enjoyed Prodigal Slave very much. There were a few times where I was a little uncomfortable but I don’t mind that at all. Actually I enjoy books that push me out of my comfort zone a little. I think that the author set a nice pace for the story. The way that Charlotte was easing back into the role and not just jumping right into line felt right. She had years of behaving a buttoned up mom and then expecting her to just fall into being a slave again would be ridiculous. Charlotte has to deal with her parents and children finding out about her and the ménage arrangement very abruptly and I imagine that would not be easy. I found it interesting that Pierre-Louis is much younger than the other two characters and that made the dynamics more exciting. Comically so, when Charlotte’s daughters meet him. Personally, I would have liked to have known more about Francois since he is the Dom and it seemed like as the story progressed he sort of faded into the background. There were a few other things in the story line that bothered me but I won’t go into details because I hate spoilers in reviews. Overall I found this was well written and flowed smoothly. I will definitely be looking for more of Ms. Harte’s work.

Publisher’s Note: This title was previously published elsewhere, but has been revised extensively for Ellora’s Cave.

RECOMMENDED READ

Prodigal Slave is a look at the darker side of BDSM. It was a very alluring book right from the beginning. It tells the story of a woman, Charlotte, who gave up her life as a Slave to fulfill her dream of having children. Her Master, Frankie, refused to fulfill that need. After 20 years, 2 children and a divorce, Charlotte receives an invitation.....for Cassiopeia to go home to her Master.

The story brings you through the emotions of both Slave and Master. It explains the emotions of a woman who has not had her sexual needs fulfilled in 20 years; a Master who never stopped loving his Slave. And, a third person who is also very much in love with his Master. How will this work? Will someone get hurt in the process? Frankie brings them all together and hopes that they all can be together; that his Charlotte/Cassiopeia still loves him and will grow to love Pierre-Louis as well.

Roxy Harte weaves a beautiful tale of love lost and then found again. She incorporated Charlotte's children into the story and found a way for them to accept the life that their mother has now decided to lead. You go through the emotions of all characters right with them, the love, the hate, the sexual needs of all three of the main characters. It was a story that grabbed you right from the beginning and didn't let you go until the end. I would highly recommend this book if you are interested in romance with BDSM on the side.

Time is an unkind master. Do you really think you can do the things you did twenty years ago? Yes, no, and maybe. I like the acceptance of age and changes in both Charlotte and Francois; they're both grappling with wanting each other still. The sleeper has awakened and learning and relearning to love the one you cherished beyond all others is an imperfect process. That said, this pretty much pegs the fantasy meter when Charlotte meets up with her former master only to find he's not alone. She has to face her insecurities and figure out how to transform soccer mom back into sex kitten.

I love the character experience in Roxy Harte books. Complex people with depth of feeling and easy to become the character. Great great reads.
