Edited after reading the updated version:
In my first review I made sure to point out that this book had a very interesting premise despite me having issues with it. And that hasn't changed, if anything the storyline got even better reading it this second time. I understood more of what was happening and it had me really invested in the characters and the battles they were fighting.
There were times I had a hard time seeing the chemistry between Rogan and Emma and it did still feel a little sudden but by the end it was definitely a believable connection. And there were some great scenes between them that had a lot of sexual tension that I enjoyed.

I loved the book! It was such a beautiful mix of war, romance and paranormal. Loved it. I also liked the writing style of the author, it was easy and interesting to read. It, also, reminded me of good old BDB days, which I miss, so it's probably also the reason why I loved it.
The characters were absolutely amazing and sexy. Rogan being my ultimate favorite. Gosh, that elementalists just became my new book boyfriend. I absolutely loved Hunter too, I was lowkey hoping him and Xeno will end up together because I shipped them so hard! Can't really tell what I think of Jack, there wasn't really a lot of him. Found Emma a tiny bit annoying at times, but not to often so she's forgiven. I actually grew to really like her, she's cool.
Since this is romance, and there is sex and stuff, I would like to say that, to me, this was one if the best smuts ever written. Honestly, I really enjoyed it, it wasn't cringe and it was so beautifully written. Chapter 26 is 😍 even better than ACOMAF chapter 55.
Now, this all sounds like 5/5 review, but there is this one thing that I didn't quite enjoy as much as the rest, and that's the ending. The whole book had this slow, but action packed pace.. and then the ending happened so quickly and I didn't really understand how it all played out and what actually happened. I just knew that it was all a bit of messy in my opinion, and could've been done better. It didn't fit with the rest of the story, which was slower and then the ending came of as an explosion.

Fantastic
I was blown away with the story. I loved how every imaginable mythical creatures blended in this book. I love how every character has say in the story. We can know of their plans an what they think in each situation. The lifemate situation was intense. Can't wait to read the next book. Sebastian is getting on my ever lasting nerve an is only the first book.

The author kindly sent me this book to review a long time ago but I hadn’t gotten a chance to read it until now and I regret it because this book was very unique and very special.
Emma and Rogan, are the two main characters and they feel completely too real. Emma is an descendant and her only being born is a crime and Rogan is a elementalist, which means he can manipulate the water element with his seven senses.
The sexual tension and chemistry between the two is off the charts and being a romance there are some sex scenes, so let me tell you this book has some amazing smut that you will be glad you read.
I recommend this book to those who want to try a different twist to their normal genre and who enjoy good ol’ battles, laugh out loud scenes, hot love making and an unbreakable connection between the characters.

This is easily my favourite Paranormal Fantasy I've read all year. It was unique and brilliant, well written and fast paced with characters to die for (and a romance that I adored).
Elemental Claim contains that most rare of characters - a totally realistic and likable heroine and hero. Seriously the way in which Emma reacts to all the things that happen to her just made me fall in love with her. Early on in the book she reacts to an attempted kidnapping with basic self defence. Not sudden unrealistic fighting moves, not panicked screaming - she just fought back and ran (we learn she has had self defence lessons so her natural instinct is cool and makes sense). And this pragmatism continues throughout the book. She does freak out at times and she doesn't instantly know the way out of every situation - but she does react naturally and this makes her come across as more real and so the story, by extension, feels more real. (Which, I mean there are gods and all sorts of paranormal stuff happening here so that's pretty impressive).
Rogan is kind of my new favourite Paranormal Fantasy hero. Its a genre awash with possessive (sometimes creepily so) and never-ever-wrong men. And Rogan is, don't get me wrong, super-skilled at what he does. But he also makes mistakes (and admits them) and his confusion and the mental gymnastics he goes through to rationalise everything early on in the story is both adorable and hilarious. As could be expected from two characters I adore - the romance is also spectacular. It's rare for me to find a romance about which I have no reservations but here I wholeheartedly believed in Emma and Rogan and loved every moment they shared.
There is a lot happening in this world and it did take me a little bit to get everything straight - but that's fine because Emma is just as lost so I got to discover everything alongside her. Which made this a way more enticing read because I constantly just wanted to get home and read what happened next and uncover more of the world and characters. Mythology is something I love (I studied it in college after all) so it's always exciting to see so many gods and mythological elements brought into the story - and really skilfully brought in as well. There were a lot of really lovely touches that I don't want to spoil. I especially loved how accurately Miranda portrayed the personalities of the gods.
This was such a refreshing and exciting read and Miranda Grant is going straight on my list of favourite fantasy writers. I am lucky enough to have book 2 in the series as well and I will be reading it very soon - so keep an eye out for that review later!

This was an unexpected read. I saw my friend reading it and thought why not since I was in a slump. So I bought it and as soon as I got to reading it I was stuck.

the plot is really well thought out and flows well, also including some twists I wasn't expecting.
The characters are well formed in regard to personality and there were some I really want to find out more about such as Jack, xeno and Hunter.
Being a lover of mythology. I was so excited to have so many gods included in the story. it was a very unique take on the mythological aspect.

"Elemental Claim" is the first book I read by Miranda Grant and I found her writing quite enjoyable. The story is interesting and the world-building is developed. There is the perfect balance between dynamic action, romance, characterisation, and scene-setting which allows the reader to easily follow the story. The characters were exciting and I was curious to find more about them. The world-building is extensive and the author has managed to explain the roles each creature has. There were a lot of plot twists that were unexpected and made me want to find out what happens on the next page. I enjoyed the romance between Emma and Rogan, but I wasn't in love with it. At times I was lost whose POV is as several characters telling the story. I really liked that the book covered some darker topics (such as abuse) while maintaining a fantasy element. I found myself having mixed feelings about the book: enjoying the idea behind it but I was not excited to pick it up. Overall, I would say that it was an enjoyable read and would recommend it to any fans of romance, mythology, and fantasy.

This book was thrilling from the very beginning! I had the hardest time putting it down. It's also completely full of Greek, Celtic, and Norse Mythology. I learned so much while also stayed totally captivated by the story. The struggles and dynamics between all of the characters while still working together despite being from completely different backgrounds. It all worked together flawlessly including the different Mythologies.
Thank you so much for this book. It came into my life at the perfect time. I have just started researching into the different pantheons, and have always felt such a strong connection to them. The fact that you were able to make all of my favorite Pantheons of Gods and make them work together so well is beyond amazing. Thank you so much for asking me to read it!!

I absolutely love, love, love this book. At the first chapter Miranda Grant had me hooked. Elemental Claim is the first book I have read by Miranda and what a great read. Emma and Rogan are both enjoyable characters along with all of side characters that offers action, magic, witty banter, laugh out loud moments, mythical creatures, family and love. Their attraction was strong and their chemistry generated lots of sparks. The storyline was engaging and fun but offers a solid amount of drama and emotional turmoil as this couples relationship evolves into more than they ever imagined. I am now a huge fan of this author and highly recommend this book.

Emma is kidnapped while some other guys are trying to take her. She was at her twin sister Elizabeth’s house retrieving something for her when it all happened. Rogan and his team are the one that end up with Emma. But they believe she has done something wrong but it’s her sister who is under the influence of the evil vampire Sabastien that did it. Emma still has to be brought in but Rogan realizes that Emma is his lifemate. Their mission to take down Sebastian and try to get Elizabeth is exciting and dangerous

Really awesome
One thing I love about this book is that you get thrown in and have to learn as you go just like the main character Emma. One day she's a waitress and the next? Boom! No spoilers here but One thing that can be boring about fantasy is when the author spends pages and pages world building and then you have to read it all again when the MC learns it. I love when things are reviled as the MC figures it out. Gripping story I finished in one sitting and I'm excited to get the next!

This was a book that was hard to put down. Between the love story and the mythology, it was a fantastic book of waiting for the characters to be together. I was a part of this world while reading it and could not wait to see what was going to happen next. This book was full of twists and turns that I did not expect which is right up my alley. I enjoyed the twist on the Greek and Norse Gods and the curses. I loved Snuffles! Overall, it was a great book! I cannot wait for the next book!

I think this book has a great story line and the author is very creative and good at world building. However, the reason I give this book 3.5 stars is because there were some grammatical errors and at times the author wasn't quite clear enough about what was happening, especially during action scenes, and that was sort of confusing to read sometimes. I do really like the premise of the book and look forward to seeing how the author develops the war plot and character arcs:)

I really enjoyed this book and thought it started off great with tons of action and loved the humor and personalities of each of the characters. The only reason I’m giving this book 3 stars is because of the typos and grammatical errors. I still enjoyed the book though and plan to read more in the future.

Book one in the War of the Myth series and I want to read the next book. A well written story that kept me turning pages. Emma a woman protected by Gods and protector of the Seven Planes Rogan’s story has suspense, drama, danger, and romance. I enjoyed reading. An action packed story from beginning to end with some romance and interestingly different sexy scenes. There is so much going on that I did on occassion get a little lost but those bits do all get explained.
Got to say though the unexpected VIP of this story turned out to be Hunter, I could read loads about him.

Rogan is a badass and the amount of self control this man has is astounding. Emma is a clueless stubborn girl whose eyes are opened to a whole different world. I’m hoping we get some information on who raised her since it obviously wasn’t her bio parents. I adore Emma’s strength in the end and I love her and Rogan together. I can’t wait to see what comes next.

This book starts with a bang, and it doesn't slow down. The magic system was really interesting, and the world building was done really well.

I couldn’t put this book down! Finished it easily in less than half a day and hung on to every word. Between this authors style of writing, world building, and characters, I was hooked! I loved both main characters and the spice was *chefs kiss*. I’ll be buying the rest of this series.

*I was given this book by the author for a unabiased and honest review*
When I received my copy of Elemental Claim I was excited. I read the blurb and the first thing my husband said to me was that this book was right up my street and boy he was right. I do love paranormal romances and this book had a feeling of J.R Ward and Laurell Hamilton for me but with lots of twists turning everything upside down. There is something for everyone in this book who loves the supernatural world. You have the Gods of Greek mythology, you have werewolves, you have vampires, angels, tricksters and humans!
From the start the adventure begins, there is no build up where we spend ages learning the back story of a character, from the first couple of pages there is an attempted abduction, a near death and the initial threads of a romance.

The main story is about Emma and Rogan, one is a dangerous descendant and another an Elementalist sworn to protect the Seven planes...from Descendants! The only thing is Emma think she is human, until she realises she is not human nor is her missing twin sister. What I did love about this book was the fact we did not spend the whole time dwelling on just these two, we were teased with a small back story of Rogan and his past. Teased a bit to Xeno and becoming a fallen angel, Jack being a trickster and Hunter being human, none of which took away from the story and I felt that each change of point of view helped progress the story.
The fact that Emma is not your typical damsel in distress made me warm to her quickly, her reactions were real and her resolution to become strong and take control of her own destiny was a great change to the norm. Going from a "bookworm that occasionally fought monsters through a console" to embracing her new path was refreshing.
One of my favourite passages in the book is when you meet Hades and Zeus (I am a sucker for Greek mythology), the description by the author of them in present day was spot on! The switch between the perceived knowledge and the author new view of these two historical figures was great, Hades having emotions and Zeus a show off and how they do like to gossip. The author has taken everything you know and turned it on its head and when you find out who one of the villains is, well you are in for a shock and it is a fantastic change! And Snuffles! That was great fun!
I picked up on a sentence in the book from Emma's POV
Ever since she had caught his gaze staring at her from the depths of the river, she had felt a jolt of primal recognition
I am not sure if this a throwaway comment or not but I really hope that there is something here to be developed on. Does something in Emma's subconscious recognises Rogan? Or are they just true lifemates? It did made me question, was she always in human form? Or was she someone else before?
He had not failed for the last twenty-nine operations and he was determined to make it a solid thirty
This sentence in the book resonated throughout when reading because you just have a sense of foreboding, will they be successful in the mission? Will Liz make it out ok? Will Emma survive this? What deal with Gabriel did Xeno make? Please god I hope she makes it ok!
Now I have finished the book the title makes perfect sense to me, I feel like I should have picked up on this sooner!
I have so many unanswered questions I can not wait for the next book in the series!

From the start the adventure begins, there is no build up where we spend ages learning the back story of a character, from the first couple of pages there is an attempted abduction, a near death and the initial threads of a romance.

The main story is about Emma and Rogan, one is a dangerous descendant and another an Elementalist sworn to protect the Seven planes...from Descendants! The only thing is Emma think she is human, until she realises she is not human nor is her missing twin sister. What I did love about this book was the fact we did not spend the whole time dwelling on just these two, we were teased with a small back story of Rogan and his past. Teased a bit to Xeno and becoming a fallen angel, Jack being a trickster and Hunter being human, none of which took away from the story and I felt that each change of point of view helped progress the story.
The fact that Emma is not your typical damsel in distress made me warm to her quickly, her reactions were real and her resolution to become strong and take control of her own destiny was a great change to the norm. Going from a "bookworm that occasionally fought monsters through a console" to embracing her new path was refreshing.
One of my favourite passages in the book is when you meet Hades and Zeus (I am a sucker for Greek mythology), the description by the author of them in present day was spot on! The switch between the perceived knowledge and the author new view of these two historical figures was great, Hades having emotions and Zeus a show off and how they do like to gossip. The author has taken everything you know and turned it on its head and when you find out who one of the villains is, well you are in for a shock and it is a fantastic change! And Snuffles! That was great fun!
I picked up on a sentence in the book from Emma's POV
Ever since she had caught his gaze staring at her from the depths of the river, she had felt a jolt of primal recognition
I am not sure if this a throwaway comment or not but I really hope that there is something here to be developed on. Does something in Emma's subconscious recognises Rogan? Or are they just true lifemates? It did made me question, was she always in human form? Or was she someone else before?
He had not failed for the last twenty-nine operations and he was determined to make it a solid thirty
This sentence in the book resonated throughout when reading because you just have a sense of foreboding, will they be successful in the mission? Will Liz make it out ok? Will Emma survive this? What deal with Gabriel did Xeno make? Please god I hope she makes it ok!
Now I have finished the book the title makes perfect sense to me, I feel like I should have picked up on this sooner!
I have so many unanswered questions I can not wait for the next book in the series!

I’m too excited to find out what happens so I tend not to take in all the information at once, too desperate to get to the end. My husband, however, reads incredibly slowly taking every little bit of information into his brain. He can remember specific people, places, and things from Game of Thrones and I can remember… well, very little… but I did read the whole series in a couple weeks. Rereading books is what cements the information into my head, and reread I do. Pros and cons to both systems, I suppose. You may now be asking where this tangent is going. Well, Elemental Claims is a complicated tale that will involve lots of paying attention.
Readers who loved Gena Showalter’s Lords of the Underworld series will enjoy this trip into Greek Myths and more. However, where Ms. Showalter slowly builds her world and characters, easing her readers into her creation Miranda Grant dives in full force and sets a quick pace. This story is not for those who wants some easy and breezy to kill some time. Elemental Claim is an intricate story with lots of twists, turns, and terminology. This isn’t your everyday, boring, overdone paranormal tale. It’s unique, it’s different, and it’s full of wicked romance.

This book took me by surprise. I was asked by the author on my Instagram if I would like a copy of the book to read in exchange for an honest review. I'm always up for getting free books especially if I only need to review them, so the answer was a hard "yes!" And though I like to be nice to author I want to give honest reviews to other romance lovers so in my honest opinion this book was a home run for a debut novel. I was a little wary about reading it because I tend to be a bit of a snob when it come to paranormal romance novels. My bread and butter are Christine Feehan, Sherrilyn Kenyon, and Karen Marie Moning. Though this novel is not up to those standards yet you can expect great things out of the world of Myth that Miranda Grant is creating.
This debut novel starts off with a bang when we meet Emma who is just trying to do as her sister asked and pick up a package at her house. Her sister also asked her to take an emergency flight to Manchester, England and because of that she lost her job and is generally just having a very shitty day. Little does she know that it's about to get so much worse when she is running for her life from humans who want to kill all supernatural beings and supernatural beings who want her dead just because she was born. Not what the girl who was raised to keep her head down is equipped to deal with.
Rogan is a water elementalist who is sent to kidnap Emma so that she can stand trial for being a descendant of the gods. The last descendant almost wiped out two races of the myth and as one of those races was his own, he does not feel any pity for the girl whose world is falling apart around her. At least he doesn't want to feel any pity. Rogan has the unexplainable urge to sooth Emma and make her world right which is something that he knows he cannot do as he all mission all the time.
Like I said at the beginning of this post this book took me by surprise. I generally don't have high expectations for debut novelists because though I think everything should be awesome the first go around, I am just the reader and realize that it takes a lot of time, effort, and talent to write a novel. Miranda Grant killed it. She has created an engaging world that makes me want to delve into it more and just continue reading book after book. Not only is the world engaging she has created a plot that can continue throughout the books. The one goal is to stop Sebastian and Elizabeth (Emma's twin sister) but there are other areas that can be explored as well. Her world has a very Kresley Cole feel to me and I absolutely love that. But more than that the direction she is taking is new and fresh. There is hope that Elizabeth maybe redeemed but there is also a war brewing that will keep the readers coming back for more. I think we can all expect great things out of Miranda.

Rogan is a strong water elementalist, and a protector of the Seven Planes. His team has never failed a mission assigned to them. His newest assignment is to capture, get information and hand over the women who has slaughtered many innocents to stand trial. The women he encounters, captivates his attention and makes Rogan, for once, question his assignment. Emma, isn’t who Rogan thinks she is. She is a simple waitress.. animal volunteer.. and unknowing to her, a forbidden child of the gods.
The women who slaughtered the innocents? Emma’s twin sister, Elizabeth. How could her sister be capable of doing such awful things? An ancient evil has arisen and taken control of Elizabeth. Emma has no choice but to follow Rogan and his team, she needs to save her sister, while Rogan has no choice but to take her as her life is required for the success of the mission they must complete. With a deadly game being played, one wrong move can mean the end of the seven planes.
Can Emma trust the man sent to capture her? Can Rogan keep his head in the game, while keeping a descendant of a powerful god safe?
For me, this book was really good book, full of action, no quiet/dead moments and there was twists and turns with characters, and plots. Is this book something I will read again? No. Reason being although this book is paranormal romance and that’s what I love, there was a lot going on, and sometimes it was hard for me to track. I did like Rogan, however I prefer my men a bit more alpha, and my women a bit more kick ass, fiery, and more sarcastic. Although I completely understand Emma finding out about the world around her, her parentage and her powers would be a lot to take in, the fainting spells were not for me.
Do I think its a amazing story, and would suit a reader who loves constant action, with paranormal and mythical tones? 100%!!
If you enjoy mythology, this is 100% the book for you, and you will adore it. It is a whole new world, steeped heavily in Norse, Greek and Celtic mythology, and if the lead pair were more suited to my taste I would be obsessed!
Oh and having Cerberus as Emma’s protector? I love it!

I have just finished reading Elemental Claim and wow what a story. It had me hooked right from the start.
Dramatic, action packed with twists & turns that kept me rivited.
A definite page-turner. I couldn't stop reading once I'd started.
I'm a devoted fan of paranormal fiction/romance & supernatural stories and this book really does have a all for fans of these genres. From mythological gods/goddesses and curses to a wide variety of supernatural beings with a wide range of powers. That ticks alot of boxes for me.
The characters are cleverly written and I took to them right away.
I'm glad that the main female character Emma is shown to be stronger than the usual simpering, damsel in distress. Emma's inital reactions & fears at realising her whole life has been a complete lie were completely understandable & believable. Who wouldn't freak out at finding yourself at the center of a paranormal nightmare when you always thought you were human. I'm glad to say that Emma does grow in strength as the story progresses.
Rogan was just perfect as the alpha male for this group of characters, he's definitely a leader and a fascinating character. The fact that he came to realise just what Emma was to him, yet struggled to stay away from accepting their bond knowing exactly what that would mean for Emma (due to her curse.) only made me like him more.
I'm desperate to know more about the other main characters Hunter, Jack and Xeno. Looking forward to more of them in future books.
The character of Sebastian, really turns my stomach. He is the completely evil, he was certainly able to raise my anger levels. The word hate springs to mind. I dread to think of what we'll see from him next.
My heart breaks for Elizabeth (Liz) as I don't believe she can truly be saved. Even if they can somehow get her away from Sebastian, I fear the damage done to her is beyond repair. No one could remain whole after that level of cruelty and torture. Poor, poor girl.
I'd definitely recommend this book if your a fan of paranormal fiction/romance or fantasy stories.

Emma was just trying to be a good sister when BOOM 💥 and now her life is literally hanging in the balance and there’s all sorts of people out to get her! Throw in a dog that’s not really a dog, a really attractive Elv’ve’Norc Elementalist named Rogan, Fallen Angels, Vampires, God and Goddesses, and you have a recipe for a huge mythological throwdown!
From page 1 we are thrown into an action packed adventure full of some crazy things and it only gets more unbelievable from there. Miranda Grant built a world that has a lot of my favorite things; mythology; of the Gods and Goddesses variety, Lore; of the vampire, witch, Fury variety, romance, angst, and mixed it all into one!
Overall I was impressed with her world building, her characters, and the story line. I loved the loop she threw us all for when it came to Emma’s powers and on who her and Elizabeth’s parents were. I loved the connection between Rogan and Emma. The characters all brought something interesting to the table. I hated Sebastian right away and he only got worse from there. I was hoping the end and the battle would have flowed better. It had such a huge buildup and was really the bases for this book and while it was great I wished it was more clear. I was a little confused by some things that happened but once I went back and reread it, it made sense. I recommend you take your time reading and really understand what’s happening because there’s so much going on and you don’t want to miss something and have a “wait what?” moment like I did.
If you’re looking for a series that has badass things like the Scrolls of Atlantis, Gods and Goddesses, the Elv’ve’Norc, and all the Lore and Mythology you can handle, The War of the Myth series is for you!

Elemental Claim (War of the Myth#1) by Miranda Grant
From what I can gather this is Miranda’s debut novel. What a great one it is too. I really enjoyed the book and the characters were so likeable; it’s a really well written book with a a great concept of a God War. As well as having God’s there’s lots of other supernatural species and mythological Angels, elementals, Cerberus, shifters, vampires, it’s got everything!
Rogan is a water Elemental sent to retrieve Elizabeth for sentencing for crimes of murder and being a descendant of the Gods. However instead of retrieving Elizabeth he kidnaps Emma, Elizabeth’s twin sister. The twins are highly sought after by several fractions, due to the nature of their parentage (Gods) they are thought to be dangerous, the last descendant almost wiped out entire races. They are thought of as a threat and must be contained to be eliminated. Roan has feelings for Emma, that he can not decipher so theres a romantic aspect to the story. I don’t want to spoil too much of the story so please do have a read for yourselves. The only thing I would say that was a negative; was I got a little confused at times about what was going on and who was speaking I struggled at times to follow the story, what is Sebastian to do with the Gods? Did I miss something? I feel like I’ve missed maybe a chunk of explanation somewhere, did I?
All in all it’s a good book and I would definitely recommend, looking forward to more!

I have been reading paranormal romance for quite some time right now, and although I have found many amazing books, there are some that make me literally put my hands in my hair! Thank to God this wasn't the case!
I was given a free copy of this book for a honest review and I still want to say how thankful I am to have met this amazing author and her world! 😆😘
Although there were somethings which made me a little bit confused and sometimes even seemed strange, I loved both the world-building (you would think that so many fantastical creatures all together might destroy and create confusion in the writing but no, they made it even better and I just love how they are all together and I don't have to chose a specific creature to root for!) Also as a big mythology geek I loved the gods and Emma is simply amazing and her reactions are so real and I loved her and as with not many main characters I really didn't want to smack her in the face for any decision she made (although if I was in her place I would be like "I have read to many books to remain clueless towards a vampire") (at least reading will come handy! 😓). I loved Rogan, but my favorite of the crew was definitely Jack 😍; also Xeno is lovely and I want to know more about her along with Hunter (I am shipping them! 😆), also Hunter is wonderful and so relatable! 😊
