But when her new business partner exploits JJ’s notoriety to keep the company afloat, avoiding the limelight becomes impossible.
As JJ keeps hungry movie producers at bay, she fields an intriguing offer from an old enemy that could help her expose a cyber bully, stop a string of suicides, and get her company the scoop it needs. The Fall Girl is the second installment in The Miracle Girl, a captivating series of lesbian romantic suspense novels.
T. B. Markinson is an American writer, living in England. When she isn't writing, she’s traveling the world, watching sports on the telly, visiting pubs in England, or taking the dog for a walk. Not necessarily in that order.
I liked The Miracle Girl, and I liked The Fall Girl just as much, but not for the same reasons. First of all, I'd read the first but I listened to the second one, and the narrator did a great job. Also, as a former journalist, I was very interested in the way the job was described, with all that's great about it but also all that's not so great (and sometimes really bad). The ending was quite open, so I really hope there's a third book coming.
I'm happy T.B. wrote this one! It's a great follow up to The Miracle Girl! Claire and JJ are settling into their life together, with a cast of characters that fit in the story so well! I really enjoy T.B.'s storytelling! And both books have just the right amount of steam! The mystery element is well written and has some interesting twists at the end!
In the sequel to The Miracle Girl, JJ Cavendish and Claire Nicholls are enjoying their new found love and relationship and are settling down in Colorado. And they want to enlarge their family with a baby girl. JJ and her friend Cora have set up their own online news portal and they are struggling to hold it at bay. Constantly on the move to find new investors, JJ travels a lot. She could sell her memoirs to a movie producer, but she doesn’t like the limelight, which it would put on her. Claire would be happier if she could stay at home and be a fulltime mommy. But she still needs to work.
When JJ’s biggest enemy from her past, approaches Cora and her with a story they can not refuse, JJ’s life more and more falls apart. The case, they want to solve, was very devastating and also gripping, a mobbing hell in the digital world. Despite the case, it wasn’t a crime story. It was about the impact the whole digging in the net had on JJ’s life. There are some minor bumps in the story, which made it not always believable. But apart from that, it was entertaining.
The end is open, maybe there will be another one in this series. My rating 4.25 stars Thanks to the author for receiving an ARC for an honest review.
This was a really hard book for me to finish. It was just so...bland. All of the action happened offscreen, even most of the sex scenes were fade to black, which I didn’t mind so much because JJ and Claire have this odd way of interacting as if they actually don’t like each other. I know this is supposed to be banter, but it rings true especially with Claire, whose only goal in life is to attach herself to someone who will let her fulfill her dream of being a SAHM. It seems she is only tolerating JJ because she knows she can get what she wants from her.
This isn’t really a spoiler, but it kind of is so warning about that....
I was rooting SO HARD for Claire to be the serial killer. That would have saved the entire series and landed them both at a solid five. It would have been the ultimate plot twist, the entire thing orchestrated from the inside by the one person who would have access to all the info because JJ is an idiot and would never suspect her fiancée so she has free access to her computer and smartphone etc. and would totally explain why Claire is so ambivalent about her life (kids, JJ, Darell) and so ready to use them for anything she wants. But she wasn’t. Sigh.
Okay, end spoiler.
The first one didn’t exactly thrill me, but at least it wasn’t all taking care of unbelievably well-behaved kids and domestic bliss while the free babysitters do their bit. I think this book didn’t really know what genre it was because all of the plot and action came in the last five percent of the book and then it just...ended. The novel itself is well-written and very polished, but the story was just so....meh.

The Fall Girl is the second installment in The Miracle Girl, a captivating series of lesbian romantic suspense novels. If you like pulse-pounding plots and exploring the darker side of social media, then you’ll love T.B. Markinson’s gripping story.
JJ and Claire are finally together forging a normal life. Until Jaine shows up. Janie who tried to blackmail JJ in The Miracle Girl. Now Janie has a mystery to have help in unfolding. This is a page turner! And the ending makes you want more! 5 stars all the way!
Something about JJ pulled me in in the first book, so besides the fact that I am a huge fan of the author, I was really interested in seeing what happened next for JJ.
I wasn't really impressed by the continuation of JJ's story because I felt like she took more of a backseat in this book, she was used as more of a tool for the other characters to launch their own storyline.
The reason that I am giving this book 4 stars is because of the complexity of he storyline. The author does a fantastic job of bringing to life the horrors of the dark web.
I found myself with goosebumps just thinking about how easy it is to get away with ruining a person's life on the internet, so I have to admit that I was still as impressed with the authors writing abilities but I still wish JJ hadn't been reduced to a generic lesfic character.
You have to be kidding. I love this series and I hope a third book is on its way fast. I really liked how the characters were believable. I kept cheering JJ on saying on miracle girl. 😄. I am not sure about Cora and JJ s assistant something is going on there. The storyline of on line bullying was well done. But I keep looking at all my electric devices wondering. I definitely recommend this book.
I am still very co fused after reading this book. Who exactly was GK, and what was her role in this whole story? I am not sure what the plot or mystery was supposed to be about. The end it wrapped up too fast. The entire book seemed rushed and not well thought out. The beginning was far too long and the end far too short not really giving the author a chance to flush out her ideas and really wrap up the mystery. What is up with Avery, Nikki, Cora and Janie? I just feel like this book left me with far more questions than answers, and maybe a third one is coming that will wrap it up, but I am not sure I’ll read it. TB is an inconsistent writer I find myself liking some of her books but hating the majority of them because she tries to write these super smart mysteries that are just jumbled messes of words. So yeah this book wasn’t the best. There was an inconsistent plot, and overall the story just didn’t fit together well. I would not recommend it.
This sequel to The Miracle Girl was convoluted and twisty. There is a lot going on in this story and takes a few turns. JJ and Claire are becoming a family, planning a wedding, and then boom! Janie is back in the picture, as well as a cast of other characters familiar and new. JJ and Cora struggle to keep their fledgling online media company alive, so when they’re approached about a heartrending mystery of online harassment, they take it on with reservations, at least on JJ’s part. Considering all that’s going on online these days, this felt very prescient. While there is this mystery to solve, the novel really focuses on what happens to JJ as a result of searching for the person that they’re tracking down. The ending surprised me. I hope there’s another book in this series.
Good solid read, but I didn't love it. Sorry. It started well enough, but then it stopped working, for me. But I think it is because there are a couple of things that just didn't gel for me. And this is a very personal opinion. Too much sex (? I know what am I thinking), and the MC is a bit indecisive and all in all, a bit limp, etc about it all. Then she is working with people she hates and is still a bit too passive and I want and expect more from JJ. The thriller aspect of the plot seemed rushed, no one seemed to know what was going on, and then it all came together, just like that.
Continuation of the story of JJ Cavendish and Claire Nicholls. JJ is trying to start an online media company with her partner Sara. A lot of the story is discussing the balance of wanting to have hard hitting journalism stories versus the popular fluff and click bait stories that pays the bills. The story is fine but I didn’t enjoy it as much as the previous book. It is more centered on a convoluted plot about of uncovering a person who targets vulnerable people online and pushing and destroying their lives. Claire gets less time than I’d like but their romance continues as the story begins with a magical proposal and them adopting a child. The ending is very open leaving it for the author to return to the characters if she wants. The first book was written in 2015 and this in 2019.
I felt sorry for JJ having to be used in such a way. I give her credit for not going back to her old habits. Her and Claire are growing their family and are struggling with their jobs. I like that they are still so hot for each other. This story takes many twists and turns that kept me wondering. I think TJ Richards did a wonderful job with the narration. The story was very exciting and I loved it.
J.J. and Claire are an amazing couple. Both with flaws and desire to grow their family. The chemistry is strong. They interact wonderfully. T.B. Markinson tells a wonderful story that should not end. I hope there may be more, but glad to see they make appearances in A Woman Lost series.
The Fall Girl is a thoroughly engaging and enjoyable read! I loved JJ and Claire’s story in The Miracle Girl and was thrilled to see it continue in The Fall Girl.
T.B. Markinson has the ability to write interesting characters that are often flawed, sometimes quirky, but always likable. Markinson thoughtfully develops complex characters that often struggle with their inner demons and perceived shortcomings. She fleshes them out in such a way that you care about them. Their journey is one that always yields a rich dimension to the plot.
Such is the case with JJ in The Fall Girl. The story picks up where The Miracle Girl left off; JJ finally has her life together. She has just reunited with the only woman she has ever truly loved and she is ready to build a life with her. For the first time in a long time, JJ feels like her life has purpose and direction. With Claire by her side, she feels like the her world is her oyster.
However, just when JJ thinks life couldn’t get any better, it begins to take an unexpected turn. She finds herself involved in an investigation of a serial killer from the deep dark web. The situation becomes increasingly complicated as JJ begins to rely on an unscrupulous woman from her past to uncover this cyber sociopath. Her involvement in this internet manhunt begins to threaten her newly ordered world and all that she loves.
The Fall Girl, at its heart, is a love story. However, the plot twists and turns keep you guessing until the end, making the read an adventure. The conclusion will ultimately leave you longing for another installment to JJ and Claire’s story.
It has been a bumpy ride, but JJ Cavendish is right where she wants to be. She's about to marry the love of her life, has a thrilling career, and a family that she adores. But it's all shattered when her new company teeters on the edge and someone from her past comes out of the shadows. JJ's business partner weaves secrets trying to save their business, but JJ is trapped in the worst of it. If they manage to pull it off, they could save not only their company, but people's lives as well. Yet is it all worth it if JJ loses the woman and the family she loves?
Another amazing novel from T.B. Markinson. Fantastic intrigue with a mystery hanging over JJ's head. I loved that I didn't know who to trust. It was wonderfully tangled and could have gone so many ways, but it all came together perfectly at the end. My favorite thing about Markinson's writing is her extraordinary characterization. Each character is complex with many layers. I loved seeing JJ's professional drive and how she is in the quiet family moments. I'm in awe of Claire's dedication to JJ and her family, her immense strength even when everything is coming down around them. Cora, JJ's business partner, can be ruthless in business, but underneath it all, she has a good heart.
I also liked the way Markinson tackled the issue of cyber bullying. It's a serious problem in our modern age. While the cyber bully didn't actually kill anyone with their own hands, they still ruined lives. More than just the lives of the poor teens that committed suicide. There were the friends and families too.
I didn't enjoy this book as much as I did The Miracle Girl. I think the author tried to thread something in between a mystery and a romance and, to me, missed some of the key desires I have as a reader of both genres: on the romance side, I suspect it's a challenge when you're taking an existing couple to , but it's a bigger challenge when one of the couple have to keep secrets (legitimately, because of her job), even though it's something that .
Communication is such a key part of a loving relationship that, when I see romance plots that depend on a lack of communication, I always feel viscerally uncomfortable; when that happens with an established couple, I found it almost unbearable. Even worse, I don't know that I ended up understanding why one of them continued with , after all that happened in the book.
And the mystery ends up the same way: for something that caused such problems for one of the main characters, surprisingly little of it gets solved. Even worse, the parts of it left unsolved are some of the parts that most affect that character.
I really respect the author and have joined others of her books, but I kind of wish I'd given in to the temptation to DNF this book halfway through, but The Fall Girl held my interest (though not my affection).
“…Most adults I knew were tainted beyond repair. Living even normal day-to-day life left marks.”
“Anonymity brings out the worst in some, people—people who in real life would never say or do anything to hurt someone’s feelings, but when sitting in the privacy of their homes, something evil is unleashed.”
I swear, this series got better every book— especially considering how high the bar was set with the first one!! But, once again T.B. Markinson delivered an incredible piece of written art.
A suspense that kept you in the dark, surprising you with a new twist just when you thought you'd finally figured it all out—only to discover you were wrong about everything! The spellbinding mystery intertwined with the beautiful & bristled love story of Claire & JJ established in book 1, mixed with the timely & relevant conversations about the internet, social media, cyber bullying, journalistic integrity & fake news melded perfectly that entertains, enlightens, engages & enthralls.
I just wished that this wasn't the conclusion because I still need—WANT SOOO DESPERATELY—to continue following these characters' lives, endeavors, journeys & futures.
“…Most adults I knew were tainted beyond repair. Living even normal day-to-day life left marks.”
I love TB writing, but the more I am reading her books, the more I realise that the main character is always some kind of idiot hero or just an idiot. Always in a fog for whatever is going on but everybody else is Sherlock Holmes. Like she (no.1) needs some other woman to walk with her true life like she is a child who does not even know to pick her self clothes but on the other side, she is successful in her business and in field journalism. What?
And Darell. C'mon... why? The guy is slime from the first book and now, suddenly he is a hero (?) to Claire and her son ... or whoever. And does he have his own house?
The plot in this book is hard to explain and it was very hard for me to finish this book. A lot of mixed scenarios. Is it a love book or crime? A tortoise first 85% and rabbit the rest of it.

Sorry to say, but I was disappointed with this book. I really enjoyed book #1 - “The Miracle Girl” so of course I wanted to read book #2. I read a little and put it down, I picked it up, read a little and put it back down. I did finish the book but I just couldn’t get into it. I really like the main character JJ in both books and I liked Claire in book #1 but something about her and the rest of the characters (some old, some new) in this book just didn’t click with me. I felt the storyline was a little choppy at first and by the end of the book the storyline was very choppy. Maybe book #2 would have been better if it covered main character JJ’s life (and those around her) after being blackmailed and how she rebounded from that by writing her memoir. I will continue reading T B Markinson- I won’t let this 1 book influence me !!! Give it a read ... you may like it !!!!
i started the miracle girl 2 book series in the vain hope of reconecting with sarah and lizzie, as jj and clair had a bit part in the woman lost series, i was wrong in stead i diveloped a warm feeling for jj and clair. from the out set when clair ran away some 20 years ealyer i began shouting at the kindle in the hope jj would see sence and go after the love of her life, but she was filled with the wonder lust, even then i fell in love with clair but didnt hate jj just felt disapointed that she would'nt grab the one thing that would make her hole by the end of book two or the reveal not all the isues were answerd to my mind such as the lost time jj had sufferd meany years ago. i gave the miracle girl 5 stars becouse to give tb markinson anything else would be sacralidge for anything she writes
Another wonderful story from Markinson. This is a good follow up to the Miracle Girl, where we once again follow JJ and Claire. It's an intriguing look at the darker side of the Internet and the impact it has on society in general. Throw in a serial killer, blackmailer, cyber bully's , romance trouble, wedding planning, exes , a new baby and a whole lot more. Once again we have a vast array of secondary characters that have me begging for Markinson to write more of them, come who else wants to know what Avery's story is and more about Cora?
If you had not already fallen for JJ in the Miracle Girl, then this will be the tipping point. Do yourself a favour and go read any Markinson book today. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
As usual T.B.Markinson has produced another blistering book. This time we have The Fall Girl, the second in the Miracle Girl series, and although the main plot line is completely new I would still recommend reading the books in sequence to get to know the characters and fully enjoy this instalment. JJ and Claire are wonderful, hot leading ladies, there are strong supporting characters, intrigue and some steamy scenes to spice things up. Recommended. I was given an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
The plot, the characters, and story line absolutely amazing. Yet, the most astounding element is the writer’s dialogues. They are natural, well done and of course they move the story forward. I loved the Miracle Girl but I double loved The Fall Girl. Hoping for another installment soon.
This is the well written second book in the Miracle Girl series. I certainly hope it's not the last. I've fallen in love with JJ and Claire and the zany characters surrounding them. They make my life seem tame by comparison. I recommend you add this author to your must read list!
A nice combination of developed characters, good level of suspense throughout book and I enjoyed the realistic bed talk between the two main characters and her characters you couldn't quite figure out. All of these elements kept me interested through the read. The series is probably her best writing to date...Mikey Grady.
This was a sequel to The Miracle Girl, but offered so much more. The characters were established in the first book.. here there are backstories of collateral characters, mysteries, intrigue and twists that left me amazed and enthralled. Cant wait for the series to continue.
I have read both books and they drew me into the stories. Even though there seems to be a lot happening, it all connects. I have enjoyed both books and would recommend them.
This book is amazing. The characters are amazing and the plot twists keep you guessing throughout. You're never quite sure who is telling the truth and who should definitely not be trusted.
