Midwife-apprentice, Kyle’s sheltered world is shattered when a patient’s alpha mate flies into a murderous rage and attacks him. Kyle is rescued by a handsome alpha visitor, but as attraction blazes between the two men, and they fall into each other’s dreams, what starts as lust becomes something impossible. Kyle is a beta. He can’t be an alpha’s true mate. And yet, what else explains their connection?
Visiting Pine Creek Lake alpha, Shadow isn’t looking for his true mate when he stumbles across a beta being attacked in the middle of the night. But when a simple rescue reveals a chain of possible murders, Shadow must learn the truth about the man in his dreams before it’s too late. Something is driving alphas in the Blackcreek pack to rage and die young. Is Kyle as ignorant as he pretends, or is he hiding a dangerous secret?
As Kyle and Shadow work together to discover the truth, both men are forced to question their deepest assumptions about themselves and each other. Are they fated mates? Is Kyle living a lie? And when the killer is revealed, will Kyle have the courage to face the truth before Shadow suffers the same death as the others?

The first two books in this series where very short, however this one is a full-length novella and the extra words certainly allowed the author to take this one up a notch. The character development in this book is much more complex and done extremely well. Hopefully the author will continue to write books of this length and longer in the future as she definitely has the talent to pull it off. The plot for this book was well done, even though the "who done it" part of the story was telegraphed well before the people in the story found out. That is not really an issue in the enjoyment of the book so I did not mind knowing. Overall this is the very best book the author has written to date and I can't wait to read he next book!

It was clear to me from the beginning that this was a part of a series, and having not read the first two books, it made no difference. There was mention of other persons and events from those two books that just added to this story. I will make time though to explore this world Quinn Michaels have invented.
What I like about this book is the whole was he, wasn't he aspect. The love of a grandmother who feared her grandson's whole existance led her to alter the course of his life. This was something that took on a whole life in this book and made it acceptable. For me, Kyle's grandmother had loved and lost and had taken it in her hand to get the better outcome. In the end, she may have helped him no matter how you looked at it.
Shadow and Kyle as a couple was just so sweet. I liked that they did not let every obstacle around them to shadow their future. Shadow was so different as an alpha, more passive than aggressive, and he was willing to follow his mate to the end of the earth despite his second gender. "This is the beginning of us," he told Kyle, and it was.
I voluntarily and honestly reviewed this book without bias or persuasion from the author.
Nice finish to this series. I really loved her touch with the dreams that they both shared, it showed uniqueness that was so different from other Mpreg novels.
As this is a favorite series or mine, I was honored to be offered an ARC in exchange for an honest review of the third book in the Pine Creek Lake series. I thought I'd need to be reminded of the synopses of the first two stories in the series, but the books and characters were so memorable that I in fact did not need a refresher. But if you are reading OMEGA SHADOW, you really need to read the first two books in order to understand the complicated dynamics between the Black Creek and Pine Creek Lake packs.
This book was much longer than the others with a lot of character development. It was very interesting from the first few pages. A very pregnant Omega expecting twins had an abusive heavy drinking Alpha. The tension was so thick you can cut it with a knife. The Alpha's return home was imminent and just what condition he'd be in remained a nerve-wracking uncertainty. Something a very pregnant Father to Be did not need.
Guests from the Pine Creek Lake pack become embroiled in a mystery that makes the Black Creek Wolves very suspicious. A Beta whose on!y living relative is his grandmother, the pack's midwife is the only witness & one of the victims of some very bizarre behavior by a big scary Alpha pack member. A Beta on the smaller size wants a family, but no Alpha seems to want. And besides as a Beta - he & an Alpha would have to adopt unless they allowed an Omega to carry a baby for them. But just the thought of sharing his "imaginary" Alpha with anyone made the Beta so jealous, he couldn't fathom the idea if his Alpha having sex with a fertile Omega, who'd try to take his "mate" away in his vivid imagination.
A shifter Doctor trained by a clan of Bears had come to the Black Creek pack at a time of great need. She saw a lot in the Beta that made her suggest he seek more training. But before this come to fruition - he became embroiled in the Black Creek pack mystery.
And he found himself attracted to the Pine Creek Lake member who saved him from further harm. To his shock Shadow, the Black Creek Alpha seemed to return his attraction. But there was so much more going on with in the BC pack and it would take a concerted effort of several Wolves from both packs to get to the bottom of all shenanigans going on. You'll be hanging on every word.
Whilst Omega Shadow is part of the Pine Creek Lake Den series, it follows life in the Blackcreek pack as they try to fix the wounds and traditions inflicted upon them by their previous Alpha Leaders. This story follows a visiting alpha, Shadow, of the Pine Creek pack as he discovers his true mate in a Blackcreek beta, Kyle. Despite some obvious plot twists, this was a thoroughly enjoyable book that has me wanting more in this series.
Kyle is a sweetheart who loves his grandmother dearly as well as the job he’s learning from her—midwifery. I simply loved to see this guy on the page as he stood up straight with a backbone whilst also being very sweet and kind to all those around him. He possibly let his grandmother dictate a bit too much of his actions, though it came from a place of love and respect for how she rescued him as a baby. The sparks that fly between him and Shadow are amazing, and I loved watching them wait and get to know each other before mating.
Shadow is a sound, steadfast guy who knows how to let go and have some fun. It was great to see such a serious character be able to let loose without being forced to, as can happen. His respect for Kyle and Kyle’s grandmother is wonderful and heart-warming. The growing relationship built on this respect is fantastic to see as they investigate suspicious deaths in the Blackcreek pack.
The added plot of murder and intrigue added a great layer onto this story, as we explored the wrongs done by the previous leaders and allowed some great tension and obstacles into the story and romance of the main characters. Another series that will be on my watchlist.
This book is the third in the series, but I think it stands alone. While characters from the previous stories show up here, you won’t get lost or feel like you’ve missed much. There’s some elements of suspense here, along with the romance. Lots of mistrust and misconceptions by the home Blackcreek pack, of the visiting alphas and omegas from the Pine Creek Lake Pack. The differences in rules and treatment of omegas becomes very apparent. But the new alpha of Blackcreek is trying to make changes, bringing his pack more inline with Pine Creek and the rest of the shifter world.
Kyle isn’t an omega, so he’s conflicted when he meets the alpha Shadow. He feels an instant attraction to the sex alpha. But alphas only want omegas, right? That’s what he’s always been taught. Kyle and Shadow start meeting in hot, sexy dreams. But only fated true mates can do that and as a beta, he can’t be Shadow’s true mate.
Young Alphas are dying under mysterious circumstances. Kyle, as an apprentice healer, wants to figure out the how and why. You think you know the who almost from the start, but you don’t want to be right. Because if the murderer is who you think, then there has been a betrayal of the worst kind. Because no matter how noble the intent, a lie is still a lie.
I have read all three now, this one is the best so far. The pacing and plotline keep you moving through the story. Can’t wait to see where this series goes next.
Kyle is a healer. He wants to learn and be better. But he can’t leave his grandmother….or can he? Shadow isn’t looking for a mate. He is an Alpha and sometimes mates find you. But can his mate be a Beta?
Omega Shadow is third in Quinn Michaels’ Pine Creek Lake series. While it can be read as a standalone I think it is better enjoyed in chronological order. I really liked Shadow. He was so calm and honorable…until he wasn’t. But why the change? Kyle wants nothing more than to learn. He has been taught medicine by his grandmother but he yearns for more. And then he meets Shadow. I love that Ms. Michaels allowed their initial meeting to be a bit unconventional. I love that in spite of their roles in the pack, Shadow and Kyle are drawn to each other. I love that Kyle’s thirst for knowledge leads him to question. I love that Shadow sees that he needs to allow Kyle to grow and be true to himself. This story by Ms. Michaels is a quick read and I enjoyed meeting Shadow and Kyle and seeing them learn to be more than their titles. I enjoyed the friendship that blossomed between the two even as they fought to look past their preconceptions. Their relationship felt real and fit this world Ms. Michaels is creating. I look forward to seeing where she will take us next in this world.
This is an interesting story but I think it would have made more sense if I had read the other books in the series. I did like the surprising twists and turns in the story but I could not connect with Kyle or Shadow and there isn't enough background information or world building. Kyle's grandmother controls his every move and does not want him to have anything to do with alphas, especially Shadow. Shadow is new to the pack and he is surprised at his reaction when he meets Kyle, a beta. Neither of them understand why they are so drawn to each other. Kyle and Shadow may be true mates but they have obstacles in their way that might tear them apart. I was given an ARC to review by the author.
This story will tug on your heart and make you smile. Mystery and romance make great reading in this third book in the series. i really enjoyed the authors writing and the pacing kept me reading all morning!
I loved Kyle and Shadow together! They were both so strong and yet gentle in their quest for love. So many creative touches in this story that i found delightful, including the shared dreams and gender identity exploration. The author has a nice touch with their writing and i will be reading more.
This can be read as a stand-alone because i read it that way. However i am now going to go back and read the first two in the Pine Creek Lake Den series. I loved the characters and want to know their stories also.
This third title in the Pine Creek Lake Den series was about a beta from the "bad" (where Gale in book 2 was from originally) and an alpha from the "good" pack who had come to stay with his pack to share some of their customs to help their pack 'clean up their act'. There was quite a bit of angst as the beta's grandmother was the local midwife and she was doing some other things with herbs that she wasn't telling anyone about. Of course there is a HEA for the two main characters however they go through quite a bit of tension before they get there. This is the last book currently available and I'm not sure if the author is planning more. If not, this was a good place to end, but if she is, I'll be happy to check in on the wolf packs when she does.
This book made me mad and frustrated. Not that the book was bad, but like when you watch something on TV and you want to scream something like 'be careful' or 'the murderer is xyz'?! That's how I felt while reading it. It didn't really feel like a romance book, at least the love, felt like the secondary plot. It was interesting but I wouldn't say it's a new favorite.
I didn't care that much for Kyle, I feel bad for him though. Shadow on the other hand, was great, I love a sensitive and sweet alpha.
A little thing that annoyed me, I hate when only omega's get a mating bite? Seems like ownership, I hate it! I didn't read the first two books in this series but I didn't feel like i was missing something.
This is a sweet and sexy alpha/omega shifter romance with a little mystery. Kyle and Shadow meet when Kyle is being attacked by another alpha and Shadow saves him. They have an instant attraction and feel as if they are true mates but Kyle is a beta, not an omega, and Shadow is an alpha. Shifters are mysteriously getting sick and some are dying. As Shadow and Kyle work together trying to solve the mystery, they keep getting closer and they don't understand how they could be fated mates. Is it possible that Kyle has been deceived his whole life? It's a great journey to their HEA! I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book.
Nice story about shifters, mates, and deception. Some of the characters seemed familiar but it must have been a book by a different author. Books in this genre are pretty interchangeable. Typos: sentence fragments (e.g., What? She asked), comma that should be a semicolon, wrong verb tenses, number not written out, sloppy dictation errors (Mark slips for Mark's lips, part for apart, missing quote mark, give into for give in to, is for as, a way for away, unneeded comma, runaround for run around).
I loved Kyle and Shadow’s story. The story had a nice steady pace and the two had chemistry. I thought the story was well written. Loved the mystery to it as well. It had me crying with Kyle or smiling at the two of them. It kept my interest through out the story, and hope you will enjoy it as much as I did. Hope to read more from the author for a long time.
This is the first book I've read from this author, but it won't be the last. I thought Kyle and Shadow made a wonderful couple. I liked the overall plot, and I thought the writing was beautiful. I'm gonna have to go back and read the first two books in this series, cause even though this can be a standalone.. I wanna "get to know " the other characters. I voluntarily reviewed an advance copy of this book in return for an honest review.
I voluntarily received an advanced copy of this book and will definitely recommend it. I am enjoying this series. Kyle and Shadow's story is beautiful. The roller coaster Quinn takes you on will make you dizzy in a beautiful way. There's a happy ending. You'll enjoy this book.
I love this story because it had two things that I love: romance and mystery. Kyle and Shadow are interesting. I think that they had great chemistry. I loved the cover art and its darkness. I liked the alternating narration and the dialogue.
This is an" action packed romance of self discovery". Shadow and Ky!e both need to find out who and what they and are capable of. Also, while they're at it they need to do some sleuthing to figure out why an alpha died.
I read the whole series and the first two books I would give about 3.5 stars. Nice but I read better. This though, it has the romance, a captivating story, in depth characters backstory, and you get invested in the characters life. So this is a really nice book!
gah! Kyle and Shadow! wow, loved this book. I really like shifter books that don't follow the script. and this book totally did it for me. i would def recommend this book.
i love love love this series.. this story was perfection.. i loved the characters.. loved the issues.. and loved the writing.. it was funny. it was sexy and it was just so much fun to read.
Loving the series hoping there's more to come as Devons pack still has a long way to go before they leave their antiquated ideas behind and live in the present.
I had barely begun reading Omega Shadow when I realised how dreadfully childish the writing style is, I don't recommend this short story, or its writer. In fact, I highly suggest looking elsewhere where you would actually get a decent word count for the price.
