I received an Advance Reader Copy of this book, and I am leaving my voluntary review.
That dreaded saying "when it rains, it pours" really seems to fit for Aria. Her parents are gone, okay well separated and moving to different homes. Her "I think he is the one" boyfriend dumped her, and she just found out the company she is working for is folding up and she is without a job. The trifecta of bad luck. Her two best friends have a possible job for her. She goes to the interview, gets the position, and is going out to meet the girls to celebrate. Aria is her usual self with arriving earlier than the others, she orders and downs her first drink. The handsome arrogant man next to her catches her eye. He catches her staring and starts the conversation off with a proposition. Aria decides to take things just as quick as he is handing them out, so a text to her friends and her whirlwind of "what the heck just happened" is about to begin.
He is a very successful business man. Shrewd in business, playboy extraordinaire, gorgeous, arrogant, and about to get lucky with the girl staring at him at the bar. Michael doesn't pass up the chance to not have his way with this gorgeous lady. He is successful in many ways, including the ladies. He takes this lady up on her offer to go back to her place, not far from here. Once there, Michael is about to be thrown for a loop. That is just the beginning too. He has a new secretary starting on monday, he is not a relationship kind of guy, and he feels good. Fate has another plan for him though.
Once back at Aria's apartment cold feet set in, but not right away. It starts with this man not really willing to give her his name. Okay, odd. Then once he has her right where he needs to she develops those cold feet. She asks him to leave, the mark was not met, and he is stunned. No woman has ever turned him down. Before he leaves though he says something arrogant. Aria is just grateful he left. She has to be extra prepared for her new job.
Monday comes, and she shows up to work, she has been warned about her boss being a bit of a stick in the mud with his secretaries, but Aria needs this job. The person giving her a tour of the place knocks on the door of Aria's new boss. When she enters too, there is something bad that just happened. Mr. No Name is Michael, her new boss. She tries to act as if nothing happened and she hasn't seen him before, but the thing is he has seen ALL of her, literally. He doesn't hide the double meanings and jabs. Aria is no quitter and decides to beat this man at his own game. She arrives to work earlier than he does, has his office ready for him when he arrives, she is diligent and a very hard worker. She also tries to keep her distance. Michael will be having none of that, his secretary is needed whenever he decides. She heads out one evening after Michael has been throwing jabs and barking his orders out, and he feels rather guilty about it.
Michael has a lot of making up to do to her though first. He uses her to close a business deal, however the other business man pulls something and it is very hurtful to Aria. Michael saw that hurt look in Aria's eyes when she left. He knows he did something horrible. He is very surprised when she shows up to work the next day, she is all business and avoids him as much as possible. This is making him feel more miserable. Nothing is going to stop him from doing his absolute best to make it up to her. He apologizes, there is dinner and talking. Things seem to be changing in a positive way, and they are together. Her friends have a birthday party planned for her, Aria asks Michael if he wants to come, he agrees. The night of that party though he blows her off for business. That is a final straw for Aria. She feels his lies, and feels like another notch post tick for him.
She isn't staying. Her best friends help her find another job, in another state. She is in for a surprise though. Michael doesn't understand when he arrives to work and there is no coffee on his desk, no breakfast ordered and delivered and most of all that Aria is not there. The day passes and Michael is almost frantic now. He calls her cell, only it isn't Aria who answers. The woman on the other end of the phone really deals it out to Michael. He realizes he can't lose her, it isn't just business either. The friend reveals what is happening. Michael has to move quick, he can't lose her. When she arrives at her new place, she thinks her friend is there to help her out, she smells something cooking. Only it isn't her friend. Now it is Michael who is going to have to prove to Aria he really is a changed man. What he offers her is something he never thought he would do. You see fate has stepped in, and she will not accept anything else from these two.
There is a surprise that Michael offers Aria, and as this change in him is happening, there are other aspects in his life that are intertwining with hers, and things are moving in a very positive, happy ever after direction.

Sorry it ended up on my DNF shelf within the first 5 pages...
There was just something about the writing style that I did not like - it was too simple a way of storytelling. Too much drama and whining in a single chapter. I know it was just background setting but the way the heroine was portrayed significantly turned me away from the book.
Perhaps I would be enticed with the hero appear but I am sensitive to how a book begin. I was not tempted to give this a further read. Normally I would not judge the book in its first chapter but I could not NOT judge this book based on the style of writing. It was just ... not my style.
However, others seem to have enjoyed it. So definitely give it a try. Maybe you will last longer than 5 pages.
In the meantime, this will be DNF for me until I feel like picking it up again.

Aria is having a bad month. Her parents are divorcing, her boyfriend dumps her and when she shows up for work she finds the company going out of business. Aria retreats to her couch and watches soap operas until her best friends set up an interview for her. She gets the job and meets a hot guy while out celebrating. One night stands are not really Aria’s thing so she calls it off. So of course when she meets her new boss, it’s the hot guy. Michael finds the whole thing hilarious and vows to still get Aria into bed while Aria vows to stay away from him and do her job. Things progress from there and Michael and Aria both learn about themselves and each other. I received an arc of this story and voluntarily left an honest review.

This is a entertaining book and I enjoyed reading it. This book is about a young woman (Aria) who is having a hard time with some issues in her life and to her horror discovers her new boss (Michael) is the man she almost went to bed with. What you will find in this book is drama, twists & turns, humor, attractions, betrayal, disbelief, conflict, disappointment, determination, apologies, forgiveness, lust love, passion and romance. The story-line and plot is well thought out and written. The characters have needs and desires according to their personality. I would recommend this book.

Charlize has skillfully written an intriguing fun quick novella that I loved reading and couldn't put down till the last page. “Hot Boss” revolves around Michael Sole a handsome, womanizing, wealthy business owner who always gets his way in business and with women. And Aria Lawson, Michael's new PA who is the only woman who has ever turned him down. This book is sexy hot! It's fun! It's frustrating! It has a heartwarming romantic HEA! And it's a definite MUST READ!

This was a great little book that was fun to read. When the two of them meet at a bar and she ends up denying him the one night stand he wants, she thinks that is the end of her time with him. Then she starts a new job and he turns out to be her new boss and he is determined to get her in his bed. I loved the characters and the chemistry between them. Definitely takes you on a roller coaster ride of a read.

A quick read. This story kept me wanting to see what happened between Aria and Michael. Aria is having a hard time parents just divorced, lost her job and her boyfriend broke up with her, now her friends are dragging her to the bar. She gets there early and Michael is looking for quick sex and sees her. Michael is arrogant and gets what he wants. Will he get Aria? What happens when she finds out her new job is with Michael? Will they let feels go or will Michael push her? Can they find even ground? I received an arc copy for my honest review.

He said he can’t stop thinking about Aria for a week, but we’re not with him, it's not describes. So something was missing to keep me with the characters. Loved this book! Great story, great characters! It has it all in a small package: comedy, heat, heart-breaking and heart-warming emotions, romance.
Aria and Michael are an unlikely pair that really don't seem to be a match for each other, but they both feel an attraction. One night they're strangers in a bar who almost have a one night stand, but find out the next morning that he's now her boss!

Oh my Gosh all those books In that novel were hot hot hot loved💕💕every story the characters were so real and there love stories made you cry get angry and get happy again cause they found each other all in all great!!!!! Would read again Loved your stories Charlize. Absolutely beautiful and Hot and steamy all romantic book nerds out there have to read these stories !!!! Love it Charlize!!

I loved this story. Ms. Starr has become one of those authors I know is going to give me a way to "escape" for a couple hours. This one didn't disappoint. The chemistry between Aria and Michael was hot.

Fun, lighthearted, story where her sexy, hot almost one night stand is unknowingly her new playboy of a boss. He appears to think he's all that, but underneath he's really just like her, wanting a simple life. I received this book as an arc and voluntarily am submitting my review.

Aria’s world has been turned upside down. Her boyfriend has dumped her, her parents are divorcing and she’s lost her job due to the company closing down. Her best friends are worried about her sitting alone at home eating ice cream and watching movies and plan a night out. Aria arrives early and while having a drink is approached by a handsome man looking for a one night stand. Aria feeling the attraction between them takes him back to her place. No names are exchanged but as they start to get intimate reality sets in for Aria and she kicks him out. This has never happened to womaniser Michael. When Aria gets a new job she is shocked to find her new boss is none other than Michael. This was a great read. I always enjoy Charlize Starr’s books and can never put them down once I start reading and this one was no exception. I voluntarily read an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.

This is a well written office romance that is fast paced but somewhat predictable. Aria and Michael meet in a bar and have an aborted one night stand. Of course the next day her new boss is Michael who is an entitled jerk determined that she will be in his bed. Then the drama starts as she is determined to be the best assistant and the double entendres abound. When she has had enough and is leaving him he realizes what she means to him and tries to make amends. I thought the ending was a little rushed and would have liked Michael to grovel a bit more, lol, but ultimately it was satisfying. Recommended.

Aria had a bad time of it just lately with her parents splitting up and her boyfriend dumping her. Also to top it all off she was losing her job too. When things start to look up finding a new job she almost has a one night stand but can't go through with and as him to leave, hoping to never see him again. Michel was a CEO and a playboy, when his new PA walks into his office he realises it the one woman who turned him down only last Friday night. Though they keep it strictly professional but the attraction is still there and getting hard to resist. Love the story line and the playful side of the people as the story unfolds with a bump or two along the way.

I wasn't sure what to think at first. He was a real a##! But really enjoyed where this story went. Love how strong Aria was and was not going to be treated like a doormat or just a pretty face. The ending was sweet too. I received an ARC copy in exchange for an honest review. Charlize never disappoints.

I enjoyed reading this book but I struggled to connect with the characters. Aria was a bit too naive and Michael was a bit too arrogant and I couldn't get passed that.

This is such a great story! I was hooked from start to finish and I loved the characters! Every girl should have bff's like hers! I am a great fan of the dial point of view and this does not disappoint. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy of this book.
