Taming the storm was one thing. Calming it is a whole other battle.

My name is Crimson Arashi. Well, at least that was my name until I obtained a mysterious pocket watch, then somehow acquired six sexy men and a loyal familiar who can rip the balls off of any man. Now, I'm Crimson Storm and I carry the power of Storm Yuna, the strongest mage Homatomashi has ever known.

The truth has been revealed and now the clock is ticking. It’s up to me to take Storm’s place with my men in tow as we track down the three missing crystals from her pocket watch while also searching for the leader of N.R.O.

In unfamiliar territory and with enemies from my men's past making a dramatic entrance in the middle of our investigation, tracking down the prime suspect couldn't be more confusing.

On top of everything else, the growing emotions I feel towards each of my men and the recurring memories from Storm’s past that reveal themselves in my dreams, make it harder and harder to ignore the burning desire building inside me.

My own powers are increasing and with them brings conflict, two forces working against one another rather than together, which puts me in a dilemma I don't have the time to deal with.

Can I juggle all of the danger and problems in the outside world, while somehow also calming the growing storm brewing within me?

Or will this be the beginning of my own demise?

Unfortunately for me I did not like the continuation of this series. It’s like it did a 180 and all the good guys from the first book are the bad guys now. Huh? I mean I just don’t see how with all the memories and essence that Crimson has of Storm’s that this is even conceivable. Not to mention her living the memories at times. Why would Storm even sacrifice herself for “her” men....I just feel like the author should have really set this up better because it just doesn’t make sense nor does it really jive with what is put off in the first book. Don’t get me wrong I like intrigue and twists but this is just off. It makes no sense that Storm would leave her essence and familiars for Crimson and encourage her men to live and love blah blah if her endgame was this... it just freaking doesn’t make sense.

Crimson in this book is worse than the first book and even though the author has written in “reasons” for this I think I’m just tired of it. The constant crying and passing out and poor pitiful me needs to stop. I’m also loosing faith in our guys. I need them to man up a bit or something. I’m going to try book 3 for the sake of the first but if this doesn’t pick back up I may have to shelve this series.

Review copy kindly provided by the author in exchange for a honest review
After the rocky start in Taming the Storm, the gang are back and read to complete their mission. A mission that complete changed Crimson's life for the better yet there still a lingering sense of gloom around. Crimson' s fight isn't over by a long shot yet
I wonder what was in store for us this time, considering Crimson and the gang all already had to deal with a lot. This wasn’t a problem unique to one person, it evolved many people and seemed even bigger then I could ever image. This book looks at those other parties more deeply , well some of them and offer insights that you wouldn't expect.

It's intriguing times ahead.

In this book the focus is on the main mission of course, but the past as well. The guys all have interesting stories and I loved how the balanced their pasts with their present and future. It comes full circle for a lot of the guys in this book.
Obviously the favourites get their turn first and honestly I couldn’t’ complain given the bonds and the scenes we have seen so far .
There is a lot going but there a sense of calamity despite what seems chaos. There is a bit a change of direction in this novel. If you thought you were prepared, you won't be .
I went through most of the emotions with this book and there is a good reason why. Wilson has thrown everything at this series to grab readers’ attention and make them addicts like me.
Being so invested in this series, I read them back to back and I'm dying here. Crimson obviously ranks up there and I love the guys even more after this book. Can't wait for the next book and hopefully gives us more than we ever need given the way things are going.

*I received a free copy of this book which I voluntarily chose to write an honest review for.

Book two in the Crimson Storm Chronicles and what an incredible addition it is too. Just when I think these books cannot get any better Yumoyori proves me wrong by writing something as absolutely mind blowing as this book was. We pick up pretty much right where book two ended. Crimson finally has her powers, a kitsune, and one of the gems for the pocket watch. Besides recover she has to deal with the never secrets that are coming her way while still trying to locate the other missing gems. Storm essence makes a complicated twist along the way as well as other secrets that come to light over time. It takes a truly incredible mind to think up all of this fantasy world and I am totally in love as each and every tidbit is revealed while I turn the pages. The finale is going to be one amazing thing to read if this book is any indication. If you enjoyed book one then you so have to read this. In case you cannot tell I totally loved it so I give it 5/5 stars.

Wow...Yumoyori Wilson does it again! She sure knows how to write a book that is just full of action, suspense drama and romance. From the very beginning my attention was fully captivated and I was fully invested in Crim and her life. I love that we see Crim with her Mum and Dad in this book and her finally getting the parental love that she deserves! She starts coming into her powers, however she needs more confidence in her abilities. Also In this second book of the series we really start to learn more about the guys and we see Crim spending more time with Quil and cementing their connection but I really wanted more time to develop with Haru and itsuki so that we can see the bonds between all 5 guys with Crim. And that stuff with Storm and Ericka...all I can say is WOW...all of this was very shocking and I hope we get to understand it all in the third book! This is a great story that really keeps the readers attention, yes I want more with some of the characters and yes I have a lot of unanswered questions, however I highly recommend this book and the entire series as I know Yumoyori will give me all that I want and more in the next book!

Book 2 in the Crimson Storm series, once again Yumo releases an awesome book. This one picks up right where Taming the Storm left off. Crim and the guys get closer and Crimson is getting stronger. Some betrayals come to light, hardships are over come. There is work still to be done to achieve peace. Fabulous read, I wait to find out how it all comes together at the end of the series. James kind of surprised me in this one, kind of made me look at him in a different light, not totally in a bad way though. I definitely do not see the end of this book coming though. I can not wait for book 3!

Wow the story is really hotting up. Crimson is still searching for the stones, she is getting to know her guys better and is building up more confidence and strength with her new powers, and discovering her Kitsune side. But it’s not all plain sailing, with twists and turns galore this story keeps you on the edge of your seat. Film of excitement danger romance and steam this story evokes a whole range of feelings. Beautifully written I thoroughly enjoyed it and need book three!

There were inconsistencies between the first and second book. In the first book her swords could become tattoos on her wrists so she was never without them. In the second book she carried them in scabbards on her belt.

The book could also use a better editor. The were many, many instances where words were left out, or repeated, or the order was mixed up.

This book just keeps getting better and artfully phenomenal. The characters are growing and becoming more of a dynamic force to be reckon with. And the Sexy Hot Steamy time is spicy and so sweet and romantic. If I go further I will spoil it please read this series today . 100000000000000🌟🌟🌟

Crimson Arashi inherited the magical essence of Storm Yuna, the strongest mage Homatomashi has ever known when she found her pocket watch. She also inherited her guards, now Crimson's men. The watch is missing three of its crystals which represent familiars. The team must find and restore the missing crystals, continue to search for the leader of the NRO, and try to return the land to peace. These tasks are made even more difficult by the remaining essence of Storm, one of Storm's former 'rivals', and the reappearance of James. It's nearly impossible to tell who is a friend and who is an enemy, even within Crimson's own body.

Calming the Storm is the second book in the Crimson Storm Chronicles. I am fascinated by my reaction to this series. I love the series despite not being a fan of the harem and Crimson. I hate how the guys seem attached to the position and essence of Storm rather than Crimson herself. Storm dies on Day 1, by Day 5 the guys have tracked Crimson down and by Day 7 are with her. Too fast to be believable or these guys are emotional ping pong balls just bouncing from love to another. There are too many references to Storm, too many comparisons; even the same present. NO! It icks me out! I also have a hard time keeping several of the guys straight. Aki, Yoshi, and Quil are easy but the rest blend together. My final complaint is the amount of crying that happens with these guys. Unrealistic and unnecessary. Now that my complaints are out of the way, I have to say that the story itself is wonderful. Plenty of action, suspense, twists and turns, and even a few shocking moments. Crimson needs more confidence but with her background and present circumstances, her insecurities are understandable. Maybe a little less whining though. I love Crimson with Aki, Quil, and Yoshi. And I ADORE Urufu. I hope we get to know the other familiars a bit more too. The brief appearances of Crimson's parents, especially her father were lovely. Touching and funny. Erica, James, and White Eyes all contribute to the suspense of the story.

Be prepared for quite a roller coaster read. Each page brings a new revelation, changes what you think you know. It will keep you spellbound.

Trigger Warning: There is an incident that is quite disturbing. No graphic details but could be upsetting to some readers.

Mostly what I can say about this book is I’m disappointed. I try to be fair in rating as maybe this book just isn’t meant for me as a reader but come the hell on. First- No TW for rape? So hey TW Rape!

Spoilers below******

Let’s talk about a few things that make NO sense in the plot. In book 1 I can’t think of any foreshadowing that led to book 2.
Storm being the leader of NRO, storm being bi or lesbian. James actually being a good guy. Book 1 and 2 feel very disjointed to me.
Don’t get me wrong I love a twist as much as the next person! But these twist don’t make any sense with the plot! Storm dies because she’s going to a location and is threatened by protecting her men. Yet in book 2 apparently she is using them and feels nothing. Annndddd she’s the supposed leader of the group that ends up killing her(?).
Okay or how about Storms essence is trying to sexually advance on the 6 men. Why would she do this if she was using them. I think it’s safe to say she was a lesbian or had no attraction to the men based on a flashback of her being grossed out by kissing. So what point of plot does it further to have her try and win their affections tho she is dead? Even contradicting her supposed “move on” dreams she gave them.
Or let’s talk about how she helped Crimson after death, engraved initials into her power artifact… like it just doesn’t add up. You can have a character using people, and I can see that but fully trying to frame her as evil doesn’t align with the first book AT ALL.
Finally, let’s talk about Erica. While im glad to see female rape talked about, I’m quite disappointed in the BDSM aspect. Not all sexual sadists are rapists, and I found the writing to be quite poor. It made it seem like all who enjoy bondage, sadism, or masochism out to be bad people.
And finally, if you’ve made it this far. I ask you this, can you name and remember details about all 6 of crimsons partners? And if the answer is no, there’s no reason to have all 6. I think the writing and general story would’ve probably been better with 4 partners. I’m not sure if this is a reoccurring theme in Avery Phoenixs writing, but I’m not reading RH to forget the MFCs partners and to watch her do a bad job at dating them all. (But that’s personal).

⭐️4.5 Stars for Book 2 in the Crimsom Storm series!

There were so many things I loved in this book, swaying me to a 5 star rating instead of a 4 star (since we cant give 1/2 stars haha). I absolutely loved getting to know more about some of Crim’s guys and I am hoping there will be more time in Book 3 for the ones who kinda get left behind. To be honest I think this one could have been a little longer to help combat that, since there is only 1 more book left and I don’t know if Yumo will be able to cap everything off and give the time with the couple guys who have been on the outside most of the time, the time and dedication they deserve unless it’s like a 150k word book which won’t happen.

I loved getting to meet more of Crim’s familiars and wish we had more time with them too. Definitely had my favorite guys going into this one and I am so glad one of them was showcased more. Surprised about what Quil and Malachi ended up being (super awesome!!) and cant wait to see the other reveals and their intimate first moments with Crim. This is why I think this series needs to be more than a trilogy because there is so much left for us to know and not enough book to do it in. Maybe once Yumo starts writing it or outlining it, it will push her towards that. I am so invested in this series and this characters I am worried I won’t get to find out things I am most oooking forward too. This would be my favorite of all her harems but the time with the guys is definitely not close to being equal. Sometimes it feels like her harem is more like 3 or 4 guys instead of 6.

Totally was shocked by some of the twists, not gonna lie. Loved it though, made it a more gripping storyline because of the lies and deceit. Can’t wait for Book 3, can’t wait to see where Yumo takes us and how she finishes this story. Really loved the birthday party scene, the times with Crim and her parents, how funny the Emperor was, and the twist with a certain red eye guy 😉.

Taming the Storm is my favorite of hers and even I didn’t love the sequel as much (was a great read and I couldn’t help binge reading it again), I still love this series and would encourage everyone to pick it up ❤️

This series just continues to get better and better. With the cat out of the bag as to what Crim's supposed father did to her and her mother while pregnant....at least things begin to make sense. Who knew she'd be more powerful than that jerk (her now EX father and EX councilman) who tortured her her entire life. A Kitsune huh??? And a nine tailed one at that with mage power to boot. Then to learn the man she adored from childhood, her mother's ex partner is her true father? That WAS indeed worth learning....and now they knew why she'd been so sick. What's terrifying is had he and her guys not shown up early to her family house, she'd have died. HE had bound her powers in the womb, then hid her power weapons, and stored her power within them. Had she not claimed them by her birthday she'd be dead just like he intended. It seemed Fate, or maybe Storm had some other ideas in that department. This book is filled with even more action, intrigue, excitement, betrayal, love, and slowly Crim coming into her own. She and her guys are still on the trail of the missing familiar stones for her watch. As she gains each gem it's such a home coming to meet and love each new familiar. She's also slowly learning about her Kitsune half. After all, having been thought human all these years nobody cared to teach her the history.

Have fun diving down this rabbit (or should I say foxhole) with Crim and her loves. All kinds of insanity happens...both good and bad....all leading Crimson to the truth. I have a feeling this is only the beginning. Don't count our girl out, for she's quick, smart, in love, has a huge heart, and will fight for what's hers. She refuses to let her guys or her country down. Many harsh trials and betrayals are set before her...yet she rises to the challenge...maybe bruised, but triumphant....and it is all leading somewhere. Book three will DEFINITELY be one heckuva read, and I'm greatly looking forward for that release. Three cheers for Crim and her loves!!

Since reading the first in this trilogy – not my first book by this author, but definitely one of her series that has hooked my interest – I’ve been fascinated by Crimson and her story. Strong, intelligent, free-willed, always told she was lesser, only to find out that…She was never less, she was always stronger than she ever believed. That theme alone resonates with me. In this sequel, (if you want spoilers, look elsewhere, this will be a review that contains none, so you can enjoy every bit of this delightful novel yourself!) we get to see more of Crimson’s strength – this time not just the powers she borrowed from Storm, but her very own, what she should have had all along. This book has everything I love in a book – action, comedy, romance, emotional depth – and it also has some very big, unforeseen twists. Be prepared to have the world you know turned upside down, and to question everything about what you thought you knew! This book delves much deeper into all of the characters, giving you more depth to the story, more emotional connection. At the same time, there are also some very mature subjects in it, with possible triggers for some, yet the author handled them emotionally and they were well written – nothing simply “thrown in” like you might see in toss-off novels, for a shock factor. Yumoyori did a fabulous job at keeping me on the edge of my seat, desperate to keep turning the page and see what happened next, not wanting to put this down until the last page, only to realize that I’ll have to wait for the conclusion of the trilogy to find the answers I NEED. A great book, and a great author, and one I already know I’ll be reading over and over!

This is the second book in the series and the story continues in the moment it ended in abruptly in the previous book. Very exciting beginning and a huge revelation!
I felt like there was more romance and more mystery in this book and the pace was somewhat quicker. Crimson is getting stronger, as her training is progressing, and more puzzles are falling into place. She is getting closer to her companions and the romantic situations are beautiful, and as in the previous book, slow burning and hot. Crimson's sadness has almost disappeared as the loving relationships are healing her. Crimson is a great character, and so are her guards/lovers.
There are several aspects to the plot, apart from mystery that needs to be solved, treason in the highest levels of the government, Storm's residual emotions, romances, unexpected twists and turns, and shocking revelations, the book is full of them. It is absolutely incredible how much is happening in this book and the author fabulously and consistently executed the plot.
I am so looking forward to the next, and unfortunately final book in the series.
The reading order is: Taming the Storm (Crimson Storm Chronicles #1), Calming the Storm (Crimson Storm Chronicles #2), and Facing the Storm (Crimson Storm Chronicles Book 3).

One thing I’ve learned from reading Yumoyori Wilson’s books, is that they are written in a manner unlike any other. It threw me off at first, but once I changed my mindset the books got a lot more enjoyable. Essentially, I read them as if they’re an anime episode or movie. Because that is very much how they play out, to me anyway. Point being, don’t expect this book to read or flow the same as others.

Anyway, Calming the Storm is a seriously well thought out book. The setting and storyline is crazy intricate, I can (and did) seriously get lost in this book for hours just picturing the environment. This book in particular follows the group as they search for the missing crystals of Storm Yuna’s pocket watch. I found the first quarter of the book to be somewhat slow, and then it picked up really quickly and before I knew it the book was over. This book takes a crazy twist that was entirely unexpected in more ways than one. I seriously did not see that ending coming, it was just…..wow!

I am seriously going to go crazy waiting for the next book to come out!

I’m not going to give away any spoilers of any kind because I don’t like doing that!
So this is all I’m going to say about this book and that is I thought this story was amazing! A lot of twists and turns ups and downs all throughout this book!
But you know something I think every book that I’ve read by Yumoyori Wilson has been absolutely awesome!
She just knows how to captivate her readers and hold them hostage in a good way with the way she writes all her stories I think! Her characters are the perfect blend of vulnerable and kick butt heroines and heroes. And the realities are places I wish I could live at!
I most definitely can not wait until Facing the Storm is out because I have to know what happens to Crimson and the guys next!
So yes I definitely do recommend this book but if you haven’t read the first book Taming the Storm yet then I highly suggest that you do otherwise you’ll get a little confused as to who’s who and what’s what if you read Calming the Storm first.

Soooo Good! Amazing really! I don't know how Yumoyori does it but every time I read one of her books I'm like "This is my favorite!" Then I read another one and go " No THIS is my favorite!! "
They ALL are my favorites!!!
I love the strong yet flawed heroines! The Hot but loveable guys! And every SINGLE book has an AMAZING storyline that makes you believe this world really does exist!

I love Crimson and how she grows to become better and fight along side her men instead of being the "Damsel in Distress"
In this sequal...
She learns more about who she as well as the guys. And tries to adapt to this new world she is now apart of. And they all learn a terrible truth that changes everything! It had me on the edge of my seat the whole time! Loved it sooo much! This a MUST READ!!!

Change in directions

So I'm not sure if this is intended from the beginning or not. First book went in One direction and seemed pretty standard possible first book written and published. Parts of it were predictable but I really enjoyed that because I felt like it was someone new at least to me.

This book takes what you've been told true from the first book and sort of turns it so it's cockeyed. I still felt that the pot was a bit predictable, just jogging in a different direction than the first one.

I will say there should be a bit of a trigger warning for this book and the fact that there is a rapist. The scene is not done in any detail but it is talked about loosely and they deal with the aftermath of a sexual assault. I still greatly enjoyed the book I just found the first one to be a bit more authentic.

Look I'm all for twists and the first book had some decent ones which helped me overlook the writing flaws, which there were many. The twist of storm and Erica is just far out of left field that it contradicts so much from book 1... it's like the author forgot that there was a first book and some of the spicy scenes from this book. Putting a plot twist in a book is great and can often define an entire series, but this felt rushed (like the entire series) and just not thought out what so ever. I really try to be nice about the few reviews that I write but I can't help it with this one.

The only reason I got through this slog was the fact that it was such a short book and it was painful to finish the last 5 chapters. This was actually worse than GoT season 8 with what they did to Danaerys...

Do yourself a favor and just stay away.

The continuation of Crimson's story was everything I hoped it would be and then some.
The story flowed beautifully, and the world-building continued to be well done.
I really liked the character development as well. Crim is a strong, smart lead, and I've enjoyed experiencing the budding relationships she has with the men in her harem. I look forward to finding out more about each of them as well, especially because there is still so much yet to learn about a couple of her men.
In terms of plot, I was completely engaged in the story line. There were plenty of twists and turns, with outcomes that I was not expecting. Additionally, this story has been such an emotional roller coaster.
I am definitely anxious to see how the trilogy ends, and how everything gets wrapped up.

Slower and Darker

This story was... brutal. And honestly I kind of wish this series had ended with the first even as I want to know what happens next. Crimson is torn to shreds with the challenges she faces in this story and I'm not entirely sure how I feel about that.

I'm also a bit divided on what message this sends. Like all the good guys are straight and the bed guys aren't and they're twisted. I don't know if they're meant to be portrayed that way because of the culture that doesn't accept them, like the laws made them what they are, or if they author is trying to promote antihomosexual messages but that kind of made me uncomfortable too.

I'm just divided on my thoughts of the second installment of the story....

Calming the storm is the best Yumoyoris written since Dark Wish!

Crimson fights the feelings inside but are they all hers? Are the tears really hers or are there bigger things at work?
I know I´ve thought and written about Yumoyoris last books how the MC have been to emotional, unsecure and cried almost all the time. But in this book there is a reason, a real one. Crimson aren´t as weak as she is portrayed.

She gets to know the guys, the guys gets to know her and more about their EC Storm.

Can´t wait for the next book!

This story picks up shortly after Taming the Storm, with Crimson learning what it’s like to have people who care, but by the end of the story, everything you thought you knew being completely turned on it’s head - except for how awesome the guys are :). I like that we get to see Crimson become more confident and learn more about Quil and Malachi. I was completely surprised by some of the twists, especially with Erica. I can’t wait to see what happens in book 3!

There are some references to triggering topics.

Oh. My. Goodness. The betrayal, lies, twists and turns! I couldn't get enough! I'm still reeling from the emotions from reading Calming the Storm. I can't believe some of the characters and I'm astonished at where the story is going, but I love it so much. Once again, Yumoyori has crafted a perfect story that keeps you wanting more while shocking you with what you've learned. I mean seriously, I can't get over it! Total book hangover (but in a good way). You HAVE to read Calming the Storm! But make sure you read Taming the Storm first!
