Born in California, Caryl McAdoo got to Texas in time to celebrate her first birthday. As a Dallas seventh grader, she remembers a homework essay on ‘What will you be doing in 2000?’ Looking into the future, she saw herself as an inter-galactically famous author, streaking from planet to planet signing books.

She laughs, “But I didn’t start writing again until the late ’80s, then was so blessed to find the DFW Writers’ Workshop in ’93.”

Her first book debuted ’99, then for the next nine years, she averaged a title a year from four traditional presses: two non-fiction, four novels, and three mid-grade chapter books.

In March 2014, her first historical Christian romance VOW UNBROKEN debuted from Howard Books, an imprint of Simon & Schuster.

In April that year, she re-released LADY LUCK'S A LOSER (formerly The Apple Orchard Bed and Breakfast) with a new chapter. In September 2014 HEARTS STOLEN, book two in the Texas Romance Family Saga historical romance series, debuted as her first new Indie, and in November A LITTLE LOWER THAN THE ANGELS, her first Biblical fiction series The Generations launched. So four titles in 2014.

Book three of the historical Family Saga HOPE REBORN debuted in January 2015 to start off a whole new year with eleven new titles planned. THE PREACHER'S FAITH comes in February, Caryl's first contemporary in Red River Romance series. THEN THE DELUGE COMES, volume two of The Generations, follows in March.

Since 2014, she's published over sixty new books, averaging over seven new titles a year through 2020. She completed the 'Texas Romance Family Saga' with a total of ten novels, plus several 'Texas Companion Books'!

Plus, she's eight books into a second series, the 'Cross Timbers Romance Family Saga' and debuts a third New Beginnings saga's book one WAGONS WEST in November 2022, her fifth book for the year.

Also known as Grami, she adores twenty-five grandsugars, and she and O’Pa—her high school sweetheart and husband of fifty+ years write together. She’s dedicated to advancing God’s Kingdom through her novels, praying her story gives God glory!

Caryl loves to share her testimony, pray, and praise and worship Him; He frequently gives her new songs.

She believes all good things are from Him and that her books will minister His love, mercy, and grace to her readers.

Irving, Texas remained her lifelong home until 2008 when she and Ron followed God’s leading to Red River County in the far northeast corner of the Lone Star State. There at The Peaceable, the twenty acres of blessings they call home, the McAdoos raise chickens and goats while waiting for God to open the next door!

. I feel blessed that I got to read this book! For I have gotten a lot out of this beautiful biblical fiction.
Isn't it wonderful to know that our Lord doesn't forsake us nor does he ever leave us?
Indeed it surely is for without Him we'd be nothing!!
I also want to say that such a beautiful cover!! I'm a sucker for lovely covers!
I think it wonderful to read about Abishag and King Solomon!
I know that we're not to wonder after the Bible but I think it's pretty awesome to know what went on in these people's lives long after that particular verse is over.
The way Caryl writes, she enables u to feel like what their lives would have been like!
Abishag truly appreciates life even though she has up and downs she always manages to praise God!! Oh my!! She even made me want to sing and dance even tho I was sorely in a bad mood tonight. My feet wanted to lift off the ground the way hers did!!
And the food!! Just makes me want to drool and reach into the book to grab some!!! Especially breakfast since that is my favorite food! I couldn't imagine having that much food!!
The Lord reminds us to have no other God's before Him for He is a jeaulous God.
I most assuredly have fallen from Grace many times!! I'm still struggling!
I so loved this book that I recommend you to read it and try to follow along in your Bible. It's amazing that these authors can bring them to life and I can the loving God through this author's heart!!
I loved her earlier book called the Bedwarmers Son but I think this will be my most favorite by her!
I received this book for free! All opinions are my own!!

I was immediately drawn to the cover of this book. The colors are really what captured my attention. The beautiful sky in the background, the gold colors of the words "I Am", and the woman. She has this intriguing look on her face that draws me in, makes me want to learn about her and her story. When I saw what the length of the story was, I have to admit I was a little nervous. Biblical fiction in a short amount of time? I didn't think it could be done. But Caryl McAdoo has managed to capture my attention, pay full detail to the story, and leave the reader with a sense of closing by the end. All in less then 200 pages.

The thing I love about Biblical Fiction is that it allows the readers to experience a little bit more of the bible. Although a work of fiction, I could hear David saying the things Caryl wrote to Abishag. I could see her crying when he dies. I could see Solomon enter the scene, building the temple. It really brought the story to life. And what's even better - I just happened to read this portion of scripture literally a few days before I read this book. So the story was already fresh in my mind. This only enhanced my experience! If you are looking for a story to lift your spirits, bring the bible to life, and make you want to worship the Lord, then this is the book for you. I encourage you to give it a try.

I received a complimentary copy of this book. I was not required to write a favorable review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I AM My Beloved is a good story set during the Biblical times. I enjoyed seeing through the author’s eyes what it was like during those days. I was intrigued. I give this book four stars.

I received this book from the author, but was not required to write a review. This review is 100% my honest opinion.

I admit that I struggled some with I AM My Beloved. My number one issue with this book is Solomon himself. In I AM My Beloved, McAdoo has an old, dying Solomon pen the song, plus Ecclesiastes, in co-authorship with David’s final wife, Abishag. After David died, Abishag became Solomon’s queen by inheritance. According to McAdoo’s story, Abishag fell completely in love with Solomon, but would remain the Virgin Queen because a man may not lie with his father’s wife (Deuteronomy 22:30). Even though David never related to Abishag in that way, this is one rule Solomon will not disobey in this story.

Over the course of the story, the reader sees that Abishag is greatly hurt by Solomon’s many sins. While penning Ecclesiastes and Song of Solomon together, Solomon tells Abishag that he has repented of his horrible sins. He is sorry for all he has done against God. While this repentance adds a wonderful depth to I AM My Beloved, I cannot seem to overcome my bias towards Solomon. Solomon spoke with God twice! He knew every single Psalm his father wrote. He penned the Proverbs. He wrote 1005 songs during his lifetime. He knew the Torah. BUT, he broke the rules, took credit for building God’s Temple when he actually never built a thing (he enslaved men to do it for him), took foreign wives, honored the foreign wives above God, built grottoes and other worship areas for his wives’ gods and idols, entered into covenants with groups God said not to, and was the first Israeli king to sacrifice his babies to Molech. I hope Solomon did repent like McAdoo envisions in her novel. But, I cannot find evidence in the Bible that Solomon ever did. In fact, 1 Kings 11:4 states, “For when Solomon was old his wives turned away his heart after other gods, and his heart was not wholly true to the Lord his God, as was the heart of David his father.” How can you argue with this? Because of this, I struggle reconciling the Biblical Solomon with the Solomon in McAdoo’s story.

There is a fascinating video study produced by the amazing Torah scholars at Aleph Beta called Korach: Can We Change God’s Mind?***. In this study, Rabbi Fohrman discusses the Angel of Death. He tells two stories that come from the Jewish sages. The first story comes from the Talmud, Succah 53a. It is about King Solomon. King Solomon is visited by the Angel of Death. The Angel is looking rather glum. Solomon asks the Angel what is wrong, but the Angel doesn’t want to burden him with his problems. Solomon insists. Maybe he can help the Angel out. So the Angel tells him: “You know your two secretaries? The ones you really like? I have to kill them.” Solomon is so grateful that the Angel has told him this information, and runs back into his palace to warn the two secretaries. He puts them on two of his fastest horses and sets them on course to the city of Luz. According to Jewish legend, Luz was a city that the Angel of Death could not penetrate. Solomon is excited to be able to outsmart Death. The next day the Angel of Death meets up with Solomon and he is ecstatic. Solomon asks why the change in demeanor. The Angel explains, “I was so bummed. I didn’t know how I was going to get to the secretaries. I was told by God that I could only kill them at the gates of Luz. Thank you so much for sending them there.” Of course, you can imagine Solomon’s reaction. He thought he could manipulate the situation, manipulate God’s orders, and outsmart Death. But in the end, he couldn’t.

The second story is about Korah’s rebellion against Moses and God. It’s the story where Korah and his band of malcontents confront Moses and Aaron, the earth splits, and Korah and his followers are swallowed into the earth. This story can be found in Numbers 16. After this, the rest of the Nation accuses Moses that the death of Korah was his plan all along. At this point, God has again had His fill with the Israelites. In Numbers 16:45, God tells Moses and Aaron to get up and leave the congregation so God can wipe out the Israelites. Instead of getting up and leaving, Moses and Aaron bow down. Moses then realizes that a plague has come upon the people. He sends Aaron with the incense that Aaron would have normally used in services at the Tabernacle in an attempt to stop the plague. Aaron stands between those who have died from the plague and those who live. Somehow, miraculously, the plague stops. This moment has confounded the Jewish sages. Rashi, the 11th century Jewish scholar, explains in his Midrash how Aaron held back the Angel of Death under the orders of Moses. The Angel is flabbergasted. He tells Aaron to let him go, but Aaron holds fast. The Angel doesn’t understand how Aaron can hold him back since the Angel gets his orders from God, but Aaron receives his orders from Moses. Moses is nothing but a man. Aaron explains, “Yes, but Moses gets his authority straight from God. If Moses tells me to hold you back, it’s because it is God’s will I do so.” This stumps Death. In Numbers 16:50 it says, “And Aaron returned to Moses at the entrance of the tent of meeting.” The idea here, that Rashi points out, is that Aaron returns to Moses with the Angel of Death because Aaron knows that Moses is standing at the Tabernacle with God, and God will make everything clear to the Angel.

These two stories illustrate the difference between having a relationship with God or not, and how the Jewish sages pictured Solomon’s character versus Moses’s. Solomon, the wisest king ever, was not in a relationship with God. He thought he could circumvent God’s plan. This is illustrated time and time again throughout Solomon’s stories in Kings and Chronicles. Whereas Moses knew God. He knew how to respectfully approach God. Moses never attempted to outsmart God. He was simply trying to make an appeal to God in order to convince God to save a group of people who had angered Him (he actually does this a few times). What Moses did for the Israelites in the Wilderness is what Jesus did when He saved us all on the cross. Jesus protected us from God’s wrath by making an appeal to God. Essentially, Jesus said to His Father, “I know these people have made you angry. They deserve Your wrath, but I want to take it for them so they are saved.” God allowed it, and watched as His perfect Son died a horrible, agonizing death. Jesus’s heart is for us. Moses’s heart was for his people. But Solomon’s heart was always for himself. This fact is ingrained in the Bible, and because of this I have an exceptionally difficult time seeing Solomon as anything other than what he is as described in the Bible and in Jewish commentary.

I AM My Beloved is an engaging story. When I could divorce myself of the Biblical aspect, and just read the book as a story between a woman named Abishag and a man named Solomon, I found myself enjoying the story greatly. I especially loved Abishag and how well McAdoo illustrates this woman’s depth of emotion. My heart broke for Abishag often. I wanted so badly to enter the story just so I could give her a much-needed hug. I really enjoyed seeing the story of Song of Solomon play out in real time fictionally speaking. There is a lot of creativity in this story that I found appealing. And, this book is a page turner for sure. For these reasons, I would give the story a five-star rating. But, I cannot reconcile how I feel about King Solomon, nor what the Bible and Jewish scholars and Jesus (read Luke 12:13-21 and compare to Ecclesiastes 2) says about him as well. I struggled hard seeing Solomon as an aged, repentant man who had made peace with God. Ecclesiastes does not feel peaceful when I read it. It feels regretful, mournful, flippant, and hopeless. I just don’t buy McAdoo’s portrayal of Solomon. It’s too clean. It’s too romantic and fanciful. It took me out of the story. Because of this, which I understand is my bias, I give I AM My Beloved a final score of 4-STARS.

I received a review copy of this novel in eBook form from the author via Celebrate Lit. In no way has this influenced my review. The opinions expressed in this review are my own.

If you are not familiar with Caryl McAdoo's writing, let me introduce you to a gifted author. She writes with compassion and tells a story that captures beauty and grace. This story is an example of purity and how an author can reach deep into your soul by the stroke of words. You feel as though you are transported into the story and are watching as it unfolds before your eyes.

I loved reading about Abishag and how her life unfolded. Her beauty was breathtaking and everyone was amazed at her innocence. What would you do if one day you were called to be with King David? I could sense the excitement as she prepared for her life as Queen. Her love for the King is evident as she stays with him. They have a good relationship but it is not all she had hoped for. She desires a child, but the King will not be intimate with her. When he passes she feels heavy with grief. I liked how Bathsheba came to her and took her in. Their friendship grew and it was so nice to see how Abishag began to think of Bathsheba as a mother.

Abishag is soon called upon by the new King. King Solomon is wise and is taken with Abishag's beauty. The author writes such a beautiful story of how their relationship slowly matured. Through the years though, Abishag is still a virgin. I can't imagine the sorrow she feels as she patiently waits for the time she will be called to be with the King. I loved reading how the Song of Solomon was written. It is pure love and devotion written for the one who holds the King's heart. As I read it, I began to cry with joy to see such unconditional love bestowed on a woman who is cherished. What kind of relationship do you have with your spouse? Can you share your feelings with words that reach into the soul?

What I liked most about the story was how Abishag obeyed God's direction and became content with her life. She was highly favored and was loved by many. It must have been difficult for her to be with the King and still have no intimacy. Would we be willing to do whatever the Lord asked of us? I think knowing how much Abishag followed God and His purpose for her life showed me that she sacrificed things, but God always took care of her. She never lacked for a home or love." She was destined to lay with Kings but stay a virgin."

The story is so well written and once again I feel a deeper relationship with God after reading it. The author writes a story that flows like sweet music. She allows the characters to reach you with their actions and emotions. I loved reading a biblical story through the eyes of an author who exemplifies elegance and beauty as the story unfolded.

I received a copy of this book from Celebrate Lit. The review is my own opinion.

"I Am My Beloved" is a story about Abishag. She is a young girl who is brought to King David in his later years, as his bed warmer, and then she is a bed warmer to King Solomon. She wants to be a mother but that isn't God's plan for her, She is famous for being the Virgin Queen.

Caryl McAdoo has written the scenes so well that this reader could almost imagine that she was watching them unfold. I could actually feel Abishag hopes and hurts with both King David and King Solomon.

I really loved it when authors bring Biblical characters to life in books because it helps readers realize that the characters were real people with feelings and shortcomings like us.

I like reading how Abishag helped King Solomon write cclesiastes and the Song of Solomon. I realize this probably wasn't the way it was written but it makes the Bible books more alive.

I recommend " I Am My Beloved" by Caryl McAdoo to any reader that likes Biblical Fiction.

I also recommend reading Search The Scriptures after reading the story to see why she wrote some of the scenes the way she did.

I received a complimentary copy by the author and Celebrate Lit. These opinions are my own.

Tender Story

If you love Biblical novels, this is a book for you. The reader joins Abishag as a wide-eyed teenager hastily betrothed and married to the aged and slowly dying King David. The reader follows her life through his reign and into the intrigues of the court of King Solomon. On tenderhooks, we flip pages seeking to discover what will happen next, even if we know our Bible stories well. Like some scholars, we might have forgotten the final pages of her life since most of us focus on the Kings and their heirs. We really consider her almost a footnote in the story. Caryl McAdoo's book demonstrates how wrong such assumptions can be.

While this book keeps our attention, this is no thriller, nor is it a steamy book. There are bedroom scenes when Abishag must be King David's electric blanket warming up a King whose failing heart cannot do the job, but there's nothing sexual about it. There's palace intrigue, but it's seen through Abishag's innocent eyes. This story is blessed with so much gentle inspiration, that this reviewer enjoyed it immensely.

I've never read a book which is a fiction work taken from the stories of God's Word. To be honest, I wasn't sure if I would like this book, but Author Caryl McAdoo wrote a well-written plot that completely mesmerized me. I was intrigued with the mystery, characters and the romance. The author showed the love that's so true in God's Word. I AM My Beloved is written with true heart and gave us an amazing book. I encourage you to read I AM My Beloved by Author Caryl McAdoo. It will bless your heart, plus give you an excellent book to read.

I received a copy from the author, but was not required to review it. This review is one hundred percent my opinion.

This author weaves all of the Bible stories that occurred during Abishag's time together in a wonderfully descriptive way that shows what that time in history might have been like. It is more like a expanded paraphrase that really makes these stories come alive. Following the other books I have read by this author and like them, this story is filled with singing. This is a beautiful story of sacrifice and hope!

Readers will leave this novel and feel their faith on a new level. I think Abishag will move them to contemplate their relationship with God and how they can serve him. Though a Biblical fiction novel, the story rings true in the hearts of readers and Christians. I would lovingly recommend this novel to all Christians and their friends. Seriously, read this book.

Little known facts brought to life

There is much to be discovered from our past. How the wisest man on earth could sin so greatly and abandon the laws of the God that his father loved and the God who blessed him with more wisdom than others is beyond comprehension.

I love the story of this Virgin Queen who loved both father and son.

The idea of Abishag being the voice to sing with Solomon is heart filled.

I do not agree with the author's idea but the story is so beautiful.

My study of history and Scripture shows that the Queen of Sheeba to actually be a virgin by tradition in her culture and her daughter to follow her to the throne to be adopted. Her visit to Solomon proves to be the end of that tradition as she is married to him in order for him to show her the love of a husband towards a wife as God intended while sacrificial in that he allowed her to take their son back to Sheeba to become their first king without any influence from Solomon in the rule of her kingdom by him as her king husband.

The love of God and His willingness to sacrifice his son is seen in this sacrificial love they shared, though be it for such a short, short time. Their love produced the first king of Sheeba and the Song of Songs. Research history to verify this account.

But, do read this story as I know you will find it lovely and enjoyable in how Abishag is allowed to lean on God as her beloved and take comfort in the truth that she is God's beloved as well.

This is an interesting book. I've studied the Bible quite a bit, but have avoided the book of The Song of Solomon because it has been hard for me to understand. Not that I can say that I now fully understand it, but this book has opened up a "dialogue" in my head, so to speak. It's only the last part of the book that covers the Song of Solomon. I actually liked the earlier parts of the book better. While this is a work of fiction and there is much in it that is the imagination of the author, there are things that open up understanding of the time period and perhaps the lifestyle of Jewish royalty in those days. I feel like it especially helped me understand Solomon's situation with so many wives and concubines and how they brought him down with their idol worship. Certainly one has to be careful when reading and writing fictionalized scripture -- that it is not taken too literally as being gospel, since these imagined details are just that -- imagined. While it makes a good story and makes one ponder, we should be careful that our take-away is to make us study the scripture all the more, seeking to test the truth of a thing. All that being said, I think the author did a great job using her imagination in this story, and I enjoyed the book (:

My Thoughts: It is hard to write a book about a Biblical person. Author Caryl McAdo has done an exceptional job with her book I am My Beloved. She really digs deep into her character and helps the reader react and connect with the character. I really enjoyed reading about Abishag, the queen of David and Solomon. It made me think what it would have been like to be in Abishags place. How would I have reacted? How would I have felt?

this is a wonderful story of true love and I look forward to reading more of Caryl McAdoo's writings. I give this book 5 stars!

About The Author

Caryl McAdoo prays her story brings God glory, and a quick scroll through her novels’ rankings by Christian readers attests to the Father’s faithfulness. She loves writing almost as much as singing the new songs He gives her—look her up on YouTube to hear a few. Her high school sweetheart husband won her heart fifty-two years ago, and now they share four children and seventeen grandsugars. Ron and Caryl live in the woods south of Clarksville, seat of Red River County in far Northeast Texas, waiting expectantly for God to open theI AM My Beloved is a story unlike any I’ve ever written in that it moved me so. Not saying all my stories don’t move me, they do—to tears and laughter. Just today I got all teary writing a scene in my WIP for next September. But I AM My Beloved moved me to worship. I literally would stop typing, bask in God’s presence, and worship.
I believe that it is anointed and of course, as always, pray it will give God glory. I pray that His children will be blessed and drawn closer to the Father reading it. It’s a romance, yes, but nothing like any proverbial historical romances you’ve ever read.
It’s the story of Abishag. Have you ever heard of her? Her name is mentioned only five times in the Bible, all in 1Kings. “So they sought for a fair damsel throughout all the coasts of Israel, and found Abishag a Shunammite, and brought her to the king.” Kings 1:3 They brought her to King David. To keep him warm during his dying days.
Scripture tells us the she cherished David, and also that he never knew her—his virgin queen. You’ll love her heart, creativity, attitudes, intelligence, and spirit of submission. It’s like all God’s beloved daughters can identify with her. Writing her story was akin to writing a love letter to Jesus. So often, it was Him and me, not these characters of olden days brought to life in I AM My Beloved.
This love story of what happens to Abishag after David’s death when Solomon, heir to the Throne becomes King of Israel. And perhaps, you’ll get a whole new take on the wisest man ever to live, as he takes on building the Temple of God, foreign wives, follows after their gods, then returns to serve the One True God and write Ecclesiastes and the Song of Solomon.
At its end, is a section I call “Search the Scriptures” that point out and explain the clues that led to its writing. I hope you’ll enjoy it!

Thank you, thank you for writing I Am My Beloved! Such a tender fictional, Bible love story. I appreciate how you wove scriptures throughout the entire book.
I came to admire the main character Abishag, her strength of character despite her disappointments in life. How she clung to her Lord God and drew closer to Him as she surrendered her will to His. Something we can all do in our various circumstances.
I found myself singing with her in worship before our God. I would twirl and dance with her too if I was able.
Ending with the Song of Solomon was beautiful. How God allowed Abishag to experience the love she longed for, maybe not in its completeness, but in such unique tenderness.
I look forward to reading more of your books Caryl, thank you again for sharing your gift of writing with me.

Super Fantastic!!

What a Book! I opened this book and found it hard to put down and when I did I couldn't wait to get back to my page that I had left. My spirit soared as I read I AM My Beloved! The Lord had to be with Caryl McAdoo for the wisdom she displayed in writing this wonderful book. Through her eyes and with the help of the
Lord I begun to see a different side of Israel two blessed kings, King David and King Rehoboam! As I write this review, my spirit is still rejoicing in this wonderful book. If anyone desire a romantic, God read, please read this book. I highly recommend it. Thank you Caryl McAdoo and may God continue to bless you and your wonderful works.

I’ve not read a NOVEL in AGES! I hoped a Christian novel would be both a chill out, and also be nourishing for my spirit. This one ticked these boxes beautifully.

I enjoyed opening my imagination to the times of King Solomon and his reign through the eyes of his virgin Queen, Abishag. I especially loved drawing from the depiction of her deep relationship with the Lord: the strengthening power of constant communion and praise (in word, song and dance), living expressions of her heart’s desire to be obedient and faithful to The One who never leaves or forsakes us. Thank you!!

This book touched my Heart! Abishag’s Love for King David, King Solomon and his son was unconditional. Though she didn’t get what she wanted she continued to Love them. And she trusted God through it all. My favorite part is how King Solomon and Queen Abishag created the Song of Solomon together.
I don’t want to spoil it for future readers. So future readers you will Love it💜

Worthwhile

A Biblical character you may not even remember. You won't forget her after this book!
This is an excellent novel of love, God's love and the sacrifice to follow his laws. King Solomon had numerous wives but I didn't remember this one. Now I won't forget her.

Boring

It was fiction but it was incredibly boring. I completed the book and I gained nothing from it. It was just sad and boring.

What a wonderful gift that Ms. McAdoo gave me in this book. A treasure.

As I turned one page after another, I thought of this Bible passage:

Jeremiah 29:11 New International Version (NIV)
11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

Abishag questioned why she was childless and why she was the Virgin Queen. But GOD had plans. Abishag had so much to give and she loved with everything she had. She gave all of herself to King David and King David treasured this gift. He, in turn, gifted his son, Solomon, with Abishag upon his death.

Her role to both Kings was much more valuable than sharing their beds. Her grace and beauty impacted all that knew her. Her knowledge and intelligence was appreciated.

GOD had plans for Abishag. God has plans for each one of us.

I received this free to review.

Genre: Biblical Fiction

The wisdom of this world is foolishness to God. How could the wisest man ever to live turn away from following God? The key is in Ecclesiastes and the Song of Songs that King Solomon wrote after his return to the Lord. Who was the Shulamite? And why did he call her his sister spouse? Only God knows all the answers, but the King Solomon left clues. You will never forget reading this anointed story of love and may find yourself setting it down to wipe tears away or simply worship the great I AM.

I AM My Beloved is a story unlike any I’ve ever written in that it moved me so.

If you love biblical fiction, this is a beautiful story of the possibility for Solomon's inspiration for writing Ecclesiateses and Song of Solomon.

This novel gave a new perspective to the Songs of Solomon. It definitely made me want to read more about the life of Solomon from the Bible and look out for some possibilities that were shared in this novel.

Author Caryl McAdoo has written a biblical fiction entitled “I AM My Beloved”. This 178 page book was easily devoured by me in one setting. I was immediately drawn into the interesting story and could not put it down. It is normal for author McAdoo’s to grab my attention and not let go.

Author McAdoo's writing style is graceful and flows smoothly. Her characters are well defined and well rounded with attributes and flaws. The descriptive writing style took me back to ancient days and places. I felt like a visitor.

This is the tale of Solomon and Abishag. She was a chaste wife married to King David and still a virgin after his death. Then she is summoned to be with the new King Solomon. The book kept my attention but it is no action, adventure, big romance book. There are bedroom scenes when Abishag is sent in to be King David's blanket by warming up a King whose failing heart cannot do the job. However, there is nothing sexual about it. This is a sweet book that will help you grow
in your journey with God.

Abishag runs through a range and depth of emotions. The writing was so well done that I was taken with her, too. My heart broke for Abishag often and then I was able to laugh and rejoice. It was interesting reading the story of Song of Solomon acted out in a novel. Author McAdoo is so creative, fun, and emotional in her writing of this story. It gives it a breath of fresh air, although I did not agree with how everything was portrayed. It was captivating and hard to put down.

Definitely this book gets my recommendation. If you like biblical fiction you will not want to miss this. It is sweet yet gives you things to reflect upon during and after reading it. Get a group together because this would be a nice book club selection. I received a copy of this book from the author. I rated it 5 out of 5 stars. The opinions and review are my own, honest ones.

For some reason it took me a while to get into this book. I know being a Biblical Fiction it’s not going to have the thrills and chills of other books, but it just started off show for me. But it does get more interesting as I followed the more mature teenager, Abishag as she is called by King David, and goes and marries the elderly King, and then later after the King passed away is called to the new king, King Solomon.

There are many things in this story that is heartwarming for me. One is the breathtaking beauty of Abishag. She sure made a beautiful Queen as she took King David as her husband. I loved her deep love for her husband and also the way she would lay down with him to keep him warm. Nothing sexual at all, just a tender moment. Another touching thing is the way Bathsheba takes Abishag in after Kind David passed away, helping her in her grief, and befriending her and being the mother figure Abishag needed at the time. I also loved how Abishag was so willing to follow the Lord, no matter what He ask if her. No matter what it cost her. And this touched my heart as well, because I ask myself, would I be willing to give up everything to do what God ask of me? There are many things we can learn from this young teenage girl.

Ms. McAdoo does a beautiful job of weaving the lives of these Biblical characters together to help us better understand this portion of the Bible. And to give us and idea of what Abishag’s life may have been like. A copy of this book was provided by Celebration Lit Tours and the author for me to read and review. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions in this review are mine only.
