Star cheerleader Elena Murray has had a crush on Colin Findlay for most of her life. She was sure he had no interest in her— right up until the night came when they couldn’t keep their hands off each other. Unfortunately an unexpected revelation followed by a misunderstanding brought their evening to an abrupt end. For more than two months Elena believed there was no chance she and Colin could ever be together. And then he turned up at her university as the new head coach for the football team. *Out of Formation is a novella that was previously published in the Team Player anthology*
USA Today Bestselling Author Ella Fox has learned a bunch of stuff along the way but the most important of all those things is that anything is possible when you try. In 2012 she took a big leap of faith and published her first book, Broken Hart. Once that happened, her entire life changed.
Ella's favorite things are music, movies, traveling, and, of course, reading. This isn't a surprise considering the fact that her mom is USA Today Bestselling Author Suzanne Halliday.

3.5 stars. Another new author for me. Sexy short story of restrained love. Elena has loved Colin since she was a child and has been holding out for him to notice her. Read from anthology "Team Player ".🏈🏈🏈
The way the author utilized time-jump, dual first person POV was masterful - it provided an air of suspense as you try to determine whether Elena's (a college cheerleader) feelings for Colin (a football player turned coach) are one-sided or not - and I just loved it! The epilogue was lovely and the whole story was the perfect mix of sweet and sexy. 5 out of 5 wine glasses.
Cheerleader Elena Murray has had a long standing crush on Colin Findlay, she grew up knowing him and after a tender moment found herself pushed away from Colin and has been avoiding him since. Now Colin is the head football coach at her college and she can't avoid him any longer. What will happen when Colin admits his feelings for Elena?
This was a fun quick read that had you wanting more. I thought the story around Elena and Colin was believable and will definitely check out more from this author.
2.5 stars? I don't know, I thought it would be a cool one judging by the summary but I've ended up being disappointed. I know it's a novella but boy, did this couple go from arguing to confessing their attraction to talking about having babies really fast. And it was somewhat disturbing seeing as the guy was in his early thirties while the heroine was in her senior year of college and it seemed like it was just him who was ready for this.
Also, I don't need half the chapter of the guy basically thinking and reminiscing about all the times be jacked off to the heroine.
Like I said, the overall feeling is disappointment.
Older man/younger woman trope where you throw in a childhood crush -- a charmer but way too short although a novella. I could have read a lot more pages filled with these two characters.
"One day you were just as you'd always been. The next, you were everything."
What a great short story! Most romantic short stories are insta-love. Two virtual strangers meet, get steamy, fall in love and get married in about a week's time. Not that I don't love that too, but this was a nice change to all of that. They had a back story. A history, even if it wasn't romantic. Those long harbored and untold feelings, come bubbling up to the surface when the circumstances are just right.
Elena Murray has crushed on Colin for most of her life. Since she was the little girl on the swings. She's now in her twenties and no longer that little girl. Ten years her senior, their age difference doesn't bother her. What bothers her is how he made her feel rejected after they came so close to, well.... you know. Then he left. She might have ignored his attempts to reach her, but she can't ignore her heart. And when he comes back for good, she knows he has it forever.
Colin Findlay is too old for her. At least that's what he thinks. But that doesn't stop him from wanting her. She's no longer the little girl that grew up in the guest house behind his grandparent's house. Far from it. He tried to stay away - let her enjoy her college years without being shackled to some old dude. But, when she tries to avoid him after turning her away, he realizes there's only one thing to do. Come back for her and never let her go.
Great short story. Humor, a little heartbreak, and lots of steam!
A quick read, of a friendship that became love. They'd known each other forever. Elena has always had a crush on Colin but she has always thought she never stood a chance. He was older than her, and they'd grown up together. But she never gave up hope.
Colin always had time for Elena she was a constant in his life. Her mother used to rent the guest house behind his grandparents property and Elana was considered part of the family as her mother seemed to leave her with them more often than not. But it wasn't until her freshman year that he really noticed her. She had grown up and suddenly he was seeing her in a whole new light.
But she was too young so Colin bided his time. When tragedy strikes it brings these two together. Only to tear them apart with a misunderstanding.
But Colin is determined, Elena will be his. A sweet and sexy read with a heat factor and chemistry that boils slowly to an eruption that is off the charts hot.
For some reason, I found this novella very rushed.
Naturally, there would be no space to elaborate when its a short story but still the jump from nothing to moving in was super fast. Both of them hiding their infatuation then full throttle relationship status was so speedy, even for a novella.
Him being sure that he will get her and informing the hiring committee was a very bold move. Very unrealistic and unbelievable too.
Other than that Miles, and her relationship with his grandparents was very cool.
Also I found that the sex scenes language was very vulgar, for some reason I felt the use of the C word and the dirty language doesn't fit their MO. It seemed very forced. Also no passion whatsoever while being her first, it felt like he was so inconsiderate. That scene could have been easily rewritten differently. Adding more depth and warmth.
The epilogue was very generous, but they never said that she has any inspirations to being anything but a Coach's wife.
A ten year age difference, Elena has had a crush on Colin forever and Colin has wanted Elena but bides his time until the timing is right, wanting Elena to experience the same things he did in college because he knows she is his forever girl.
When Colin starts coaching at the same College Elena is at and in her last year with only months to go, he decides the time is now and he's going to get his girl. A sweet romance with hotness in the right places. Told in dual pov, leads to a swoon-worthy hea. I have read one book by Ella fox before and that was a five star, this book has reminded me that I definitely need to read more from this author.
A short steamy read previously published in a Anthology :)
A second chance romance that get your little heart beating. Ella Fox really knows how to keep your mind interested and captivated with the story no matter how big the book is.
Colin and Elena have some history and as much as Elena has tried to hide it and hide from it Colin always comes back for her.
Colin is older than Elena so thought it would be best to stay away but after a few months realises his error and comes back for Elena!
A quick, easy read. Elena and Colin have known each other for years, since Elena was basically raised by his grandparents. Colin, unbeknownst to Elena, has had a plan for them for several years. Elena is trying to get over the horrible way things ended the last time they saw each other 2 months ago. She doesn't realize that Colin has turned his whole life around to get them on the same path again. I don't want to give the story away, but I will say it was quite sweet, had quite a few sexy times to it and was perfect how it ended for me.
This was not your average taboo romance, and I don't mean that in a good way. I kept waiting for the conflict, but there wasn't any. The only thing that dragged this story on were the flashbacks to the past, and that was unsettling since it didn't flow well. I think the story would have worked more smoothly if the author had kept the timeline linear. The back and forth and back and forth became tedious rather quickly. That coupled with waiting for the shoe that never dropped had me scratching my head and wondering where the meat of the story was.
Have you ever had a secret crush on your very closest friend (they're practically family) and wish upon wish they returned those feelings? For Elena and Colin those questions are answered in Out of Formation. This was a heart-felt and still very sexually satisfying story. I loved the conclusion and the added characters that make this a very fun read. Ella seems to find a point to all her stories no matter the length. A definite read!
I read this standalone novella as part of the Team Player anthology.
Elena has had a crush on Colin for a long time but a couple of months ago, there was a miscommunication that lead them to not speaking at all. Until the day that he shows up as the new football coach at her university.
This was my favorite addition to the Team Player anthology!! This was a complete story but that didn't stop me from wanting more!! This book was short, sweet, and gave me all the feels.
This was a great book! Loving from afar and being friends first, each does not realize the other has been lusting after one another. But sparks finally fly only to be halted. When the truth about why they halted comes out, Elena can forgive him and they can finally be together. Truly a sweet romance and fun quick read!
I loved the story of Elena and Colin. It had me gripped from the beginning and i read it in one sitting. The characters are believable and i loved that they had an innocent history that bonded them. Definately a 5 star read, and if i could i would have given it more.
Loved this story. Colin is older, but that doesn't stop Leni from falling for him. Growing up together and being bonded through his family makes things a little different, but Colin feels the same way about her. He just wants to wait til she's finished with college to tell her. Loved these two together.
I was quite enjoying it until this: “His sudden stop confuses me. Looking down, I see him staring up at me wide-eyed. “What is it?” I ask. “You’re a virgin,” he whispers. Right at that moment, I realize I’m feeling his finger against the evidence of that very thing.” And from there I could only roll my eyes st nearly everyone that happened. So because I was enjoying it at the start I’ll give it a 2 it was ok but the last half was a mess.
I read this book as part of the Team Players anthology, and couldn’t wait to read it again on its own! As always, Ella Fox immediately fully engages the reader with a sizzling start. I only wish it was longer than a novella!
It was good, really good but ugh there was way too much of back story. Around 90% of the book is back story and barely minimum of what should be the actual story. But the epilogue was adorable so izzkay.
This was a sweet, quick love story. As always, when I read these short stories I wish they could be longer because there is so much that could be done with the plot! That said, I really enjoyed this.
Quick easy read. Reminded of why I don’t read novellas, they are too short 😜 Elena and Colin are cute together. A story of a childhood crush turned into love.
