Fairy Tale Heat #6

The Mermaid Bride

Rate this book
I was never a conventional sort of mermaid. I’ve been a scavenger and a thief. The surface world has always called to me, and now I’m not the thief, but the prize; my memories lost, my tail turned to legs. In this strange new land, my protector is none other than Prince Wrindel of the high elves. They say Wrindel is a playboy, but he feels so familiar to me. He says he is saving me from a witch, but he can’t tell me anything more. Is he my savior…or did he steal me from the sea?

When I am in his arms, I hardly care. Every sensation of my newborn body is like nothing I’ve felt before, and the more he shows me of his world, the more I never want to return to the ocean. I just can’t shake the nagging feeling that I left something—or someone behind. How did I get here? Who is this witch? And if she is my enemy, why did she deliver me into the arms of a handsome prince?

I’m not the first mermaid to live at the Palace of Waterfalls. The pools and fountains of this famous palace of water hold dark secrets, and if I don’t unlock them, we might never find happiness. But unlocking the secrets might also mean giving up my newfound legs, and I will have to choose between losing the man I love or being his willing captive...

The Mermaid Bride is a standalone fairy tale combining elements of The Little Mermaid and the mermaid/selkie bride tales of Ireland, for those who like an unabashedly adorable happily ever after with a side of serious steaminess!

Lidiya Foxglove grew up on a steady diet of fairy tales, folklore and fantasy and also reads way too much manga. Fantasy romance is her favorite thing in the world, but she likes it steamy. She also loves cats and tea--it's cliche for a reason!

Another winner in this series. I enjoyed this one almost as much as the Goblin Cinderella. It was actually a continuation of the previous book. While I think every story could be read as a stand alone, I would highly recommend reading The Goblin Cinderella before this one.

That said, there are spoilers for Beauty and the Goblin King (Book 1) in The Goblin Cinderella. If you intend to read that one, I would read it first.

Also, there was a brief mention of the Revels from book 2 in this book, but nothing that would spoil you if you read it out of order.

I read this thinking it was gonna be smut it was more plot than anything. This is a fantasy world but everyone talks so modern that it makes it difficult to know what time period it’s based off of. I guess the mermaid bride story was interesting but I really could have gone my whole like without know how mermaids procreate 😀👍

We all know the story, whichever is your "ur" version -- be it Andersen or Disney. But here, Foxglove did such a great job in bringing home the deep dilemma of such a relationship.

I have not found one of her Fairy-Tale Heat books that I dislike so far. I only have 3 left to go. Honestly, I can say this about so few authors, even ones that I enjoy! She is just a master of turning concepts on their head, changing perceptions, and wrapping things up in a plausible and meaningful HEA. With sexiness! I'm in awe.

It's a great rendering of the "fish out of water" (lol) concept, and while I felt there should've been more development of Wrindel's character, it was still so enjoyable to see he and Talwyn work out their story. Foxglove even manages to make one feel empathy for Rusa, which is saying something.

I loved that Nicely done!

Foxglove always gives her characters heart, and it's because of that the stories mean so much more than simply cheap erotic thrills. She gives the reader a real story to delve into, and for that, she has my appreciation.

Want a mermaid novel about accepting the mermaid AS SHE IS? About accepting everything she has known and her body as she was born? Want something that's also got some heat to it?

THIS. This book. Right here.

I was so ecstatic that every time I thought the story would end.... It didn't! There was more to know. More to experience with this couple.

Very quickly, this has risen to the top of my favorite mermaid romance novels I have read. Because it deals with the conflict of living between the two worlds BEAUTIFULLY! This concept takes center stage.

The characters were well imagined, the story and prose flowed so well. I spent much of today buried in this book. And I am so thrilled that I did and took a chance on it. FINALLY, someone else who sees the mermaid as a mammal.... Not a FISH.... And equally she is seen as a WOMAN.

I wish I could read it for the first time again.
Favorite list. Forever.

Fun and sexy reimagined fairytales in an interconnected universe.

Since I don't normally write reviews unless I have something specific to say, here's the break down of how I rate my books...

1 star... This book was bad, so bad I may have given up and skipped to the end. I will avoid this author like the plague in the future.

2 stars... This book was not very good, and I won't be reading any more from the author.

3 stars... This book was ok, but I won't go out of my way to read more, But if I find another book by the author for under a dollar I'd pick it up.

4 stars... I really enjoyed this book and will definitely be on the look out to pick up more from the series/author.

5 stars... I loved this book! It has earned a permanent home in my collection and I'll be picking up the rest of the series and other books from the author ASAP.

Hooked since book 1!!

So Kindle recommended Lidiya's book one based on all the stuff that I like to read. I mostly tend to read fiction Romance paranormal and also retelling of fairy tales. I read the god Beauty and the Goblin King and fell in love. Each book was a new addiction a new addiction a new addiction. I just needed to read the next one. When I got to the mermaid bride, I was very excited due to the fact that the little mermaid is one of my biggest fairy tales favorite. Even though the goblin Cinderella left me more in tears, the mermaid bride was everything that I expected and more of a retelling. It's not the same as Disney or the original Mermaid Little Mermaid but I just love the sense of scenery the fairies the elve, the attention to detail

Mermaid retelling with a twist

I liked this book because it's a classic but with a sexier twist. The main character falls in love with the elf prince and in doing so calls the attention of a met-witch who wants revenge on the princes family. The witch lies and tells the prince his mermaid had hit her head and lost her memories. The prince takes his love in and decides he will marry her. But of course without her memories she can't fully trust him. The story ends in a happy ending and the tale falls together nicely.

How did six books happen?

Look, I'm all about a trashy romp in a romance novel. Seems they all have them these days anyway.
This could have done without all of the sex.
It didn't do anything to further the characters or the plot. It was like reading porn. It could have been a well written and rounded story if more time had been spent on plot development over pussy.

DNF , the only book in this series I just couldn't get through. For me it just didn't have any of the charm, magic, steam, or sense of propulsion that I love about the other stories. But I also didn't enjoy the goblin Cinderella and this takes place in the same city/town and with those characters. Oh well. Still a big fan

Yet another little smutty fairytale. Super easy fun quick read. A mermaid falls in love with the elf prince, but of course has a small twist. The witch wants revenge on the royal family, not going to ruin any more of the plot. Go read it. What’s so great about this series is that they’re all stand alones, you don’t have to read them in order.

Good but.....

Lacking on the development of characters. I do agree with some of the other posts that this one didn't develop the characters as well. But it was otherwise a great story and I look forward to the next one.

I love this series!

It started off a bit slow for me. After I got a third of the way into it the tale picked up.
I love how this series is written. They are wonderfully entertaining and just like classic fairy tales there is always a morale to the story.

Great retelling

This story took on a whole new take of “The Little Mermaid”. With twists that make you wonder what the HEA might be, and the sympathy you feel for the Sea Witch, this book was imaginative and steamy in the best ways.

Great story poor editing

I really enjoyed the story. The poor editing was frustrating. It went beyond a few missing words, the author also used the wrong names in chapters. specific examples include the author using Rusa name instead of Talwyn

Love the book but personally, not the best I ever read in Fairy Tale series. The story isn't strong as Beauty and the Goblin King and The Goblin Cinderella. It didn't get me hook into it like other two books where I read fast. Very slow moving fairy book. But beautiful written.

Fairytale Retold

Not a bad story. Retold story of a mermaid fairytale. I think the story could have been longer and more detailed but still a ok read.

I love this smutty twist on the old fairy tale of Little Mermaid.

What’s nice about this series is that they’re all standalone books, so there’s no need to read them in order.

Erotica

Quite a spicy read. Falls into the category of erotica with a fairytale story hidden among sexual scenes that seem to overtake the storyline.

I didn’t like this book as much as the other ones in the series. It just fell a little flat for me. I liked hearing about the past though and how it influenced the present

One of the better "Little Mermaid" adaptations I've read. For the longest time, I thought the prince would end up in the sea with her. I would have liked it better if the shape changing had been given to the mermaid as well and not just hee child.
