Having been passionate lovers before a laboratory explosion changed their lives, Paz Jones and Nikki Lozakis finally meet again under very different circumstances. Both men are changed, one now known to the world as Silverhawk, who believes in justice and uses his new powers to help the world, and the other a mutant going by the name of Steele, a rogue with superhuman abilities, intent on destroying the mad scientist who made him what he is.
Two men with scarred souls and the superior potential to guard humanity. But can they save themselves and re-ignite the love they once shared even though they are no longer the men they once were? Can they find a way to come to terms with what they have become, and what they have lost?
And then, of course, there’s one other thing to consider before they can begin to forge a new relationship—and his name is Douglas Ashe...

Adrianna Dane (who also writes as Tess Maynard) has been putting pen to paper since the age of ten. She currently resides in the state of Washington and is a member of Romance Writers of America, EPIC. and Broaduniverse.
The first defining love story Adrianna read back in junior high school was "Wuthering Heights" by Emily Bronte, and that set her on the road to her long standing love affair with the romance genre. Her inspiration in writing often can be found by listening to song lyrics and reading poetry by such poets as Elizabeth Barrett Browning, Edgar Allen Poe, and Ranier Maria Rilke. But finding inspiration for her stories truly has no boundaries for Adrianna.
She freely admits she is a romantic by nature and adding sensual heat to romance with a dusting of suspense is her motto. "Esmerelda's Secret" released by Amber Quill Press in June of 2004 was Adrianna's first book, and with that story and her subsequent books has firmly established herself as a voice within the sensual/erotic romance genre.
Adrianna always looks forward to hearing from her readers and she may be contacted at adriannadane@yahoo.com. Find out more about her current releases as well as planned future releases and book signings by checking for updates at her website periodically.
“The road to hell is paved with good intentions.” - Proverb
‘Opposing Forces’ is a look at what might happen when men who start out with the best of intentions are derailed by the unexpected to the point where nothing they believed in seems to be true any longer. Paz and Nikki worked on reconstructive surgery and healing injuries through nanotechnology when a horrific accident almost killed them both. And while Paz had spirituality on his side and was able to retain his inner humanity despite his scarred body, Nikki was not so lucky and became a rogue who sees himself as disfigured and no longer human. This is the story of how the former lovers attempt to undo the damage that changed their lives forever, forcing them to deal with pain and vulnerabilities neither of them finds easy to confront.
I had this novella for a VERY long time and basically forgot about until the reading challenge prompt & link to books reminded me that I had it. When I started reading m/m, it was mostly superhero fanfiction, so that's one of the reasons (I think lol) I picked this up. The story of Paz & Nikki was told in flashbacks, from present to the past to present again. In the present, they both have been transformed due to a horrible scientific experiment/accident, but what EXACTLY the event wasn't really mentioned, (or maybe I missed it?). But you kinda figured it out. Sometimes you read a novella and when it ends you are somewhat satisfied even though you still want just a "tiny bit" more. This ended and I was like, "that's it?". Maybe it's me, but I felt like it needed a little more. And I did go look to see if maybe there is a 2nd story but found nothing. I haz sad. It was short and hot and sexy, but it kinda just...ended.
I enjoyed the book. Interesting dynamics between the three characters. Could've used a bit more explanations of the event that created them, but that's not an overall bad point.
This was a good book with an interesting concept for a storyline. There were a few confusing parts which may have been explained better if the story was expanded some. Overall, though, a good book. If you like sci-fi and superheroes, I'd recommend giving Opposing Forces a read.
"...Something quite different, Opposing Forces is a special kind of love story. ... Opposing Forces has an unusual premise for a plot but somehow manages to stay away from turning into a comic book and showcases a poignant love between two men badly scarred inside and out... --Lisa, JoyfullyReviewed.com
4.5 Nymphs!! "Adrianna Dane brings us love in superhero proportions in Opposing Forces. ... The characters pull you into the story. ... I felt their pain as easily as I could feel my own. ... Opposing Forces is definitely an entertaining story you don't want to miss..." --Scandalous Minx, Literary Nymphs Reviews
4 Angels!! "I love to read stories of all kinds and this was a very entertaining read. Adrianna Dane did a fantastic job in her creation of these characters. ... I felt the anger, the sadness, and above all the passion shared. Fans of superheroes will love Opposing Forces..." --Krystal, Fallen Angel Reviews.
Probably not a book I would have normally picked up if not for one of my reading challenges. I did enjoy the storyline and thought there were some interesting and original ideas included. I found a number of elements about the story confusing and not fully explained, and some that were just a little too easily resolved. I was also a little squicked out by some of the word/terminology choices used in this story (ex: referring to a guy's tits???). All in, not a bad read in the SuperQueeroes category!
