I will say that I thought Jaxson's injury and reaction afterward was handled well and realistically. As was Tamara's. I enjoyed how, through discovering hers and wanting to be a part of her life afterward, he got a taste of his own medicine, so to speak, in how she, and his family, felt when he pushed them all away and treated them like crap after his. He got to see their perspective to such a tragic situation. Tamara's struggle and feelings regarding how deeply her life had changed and the possibly permanent outlook because of it was heartbreaking.
I could, however, have done without the references to how easily Jaxson could get laid, and has, him checking out two co-eds literally within minutes, seconds?, of seeing Tamara and the numerous mental thoughts regarding how completely different she was from his usual type, and it wasn't in her favor right away. That being said, it didn't take long for him to adore those differences and it was all because it was her. Also, I LOVE that he was celibate the whole time they were apart. He didn't want anyone else, he didn't try to get with anyone else, and he never thought of getting or trying with anyone else. So flipping refreshing. If it wasn't for the way too many references to his sexual history this would've easily been a four star read for me.
