I love to write cozy mysteries with fun, quirky characters, talking cats, witches, small-town communities, and puzzling stories with clues that give you a chance to solve the puzzle before the sleuth.
Magic realism, cozy witch mysteries, and new ages witches are how I'd probably shelve my books.
MAGIC BITES is the first book in the Cozy Witch Mysteries series. Katamara (Katy) Wilson is a witch that does not practice much witchcraft and lives on the border of Not-So-Normal Town. She owns a sandwich shop and her "normal" husband is Chief of Police in Normal town. When someone turns up dead at the bowling alley Katy teams up with her best friend Eve to find the killer.
This was a fun cozy mystery novella that was a light, quick, and entertaining read. It contains no swearing or steamy romantic scenes. The cast of secondary characters include a ninja cat and a spirit that lives in a cookie jar. While there are some twists and turns, the murder was a little too easily solved. However, there is more depth in the novella than one might initially think. This includes themes of infidelity, deceit, lies, losing skills that one does not use, and much more.
Overall, this was a good start to a new series and I look forward to reading the next one. If you enjoy light and entertaining paranormal cozy mysteries, then this may be the book for you.
Such a fun read! I really needed something light-hearted after reading a very serious book and this one was perfect. Loved the characters and the cozy feel. Highly recommend!
I enjoyed reading Magic Bites despite v the fact that there were times it had me back tracking to see if I had skipped over something important. This was a novel way of mixing 'normal' with 'not so normal' and it was appealing, granted apart from the Alex and Fritz, most of the story was in the realm of normal. The broomstick did not quite make it into the story for me. The ending was a bit untidy, I felt that the story deserved a better ending. I am still wondering how Alex functioned, how wad he able to drink and dance? Was he capable of human form? Light, whimsical read, not much magic if you are looking for magic.
Molly Dox gives a small town drama a new meaning. A town full of secretes mixed with witches and a man that can't keep his fly up , turns into murder .But between the witch, gohst, and cat there isn't a chance of getting away after the dirty dead.Marvelous caracters mixed with a myself that you can't miss out on.
This book first came out under a different title. I had read it and liked it and I liked it this time too. This book has a lot os twists which keeps you guessing who really was the murderer until the end. I kept thinking that this book seemed so familiar and it was lol. Enjoy everyone.
The storyline was definitely intriguing it had everything I enjoy in a read , love, hate, spirits, witches, magical animals and murder ! Katy and Chip remind of remind me of Samantha and Darrin from bewitched ,only Chip is more passive about her "abilities". Really enjoyed reading this !
A lovely, witchy, cozy mystery. I enjoyed the story thoroughly, couldn't put it down until the very last word was read. Just love the twists, turns, mystery, humor and suspense. Would love to read more. Thank you for a lovely story.
The story was great from the beginning to end. I didn't want to put it down.It had me hooked from the beginning to end. Thanks for sharing it with me keep them coming and when I can I want them all .You are great.
This book is very interesting and fun. It provided another view of what happen when a normal person (that's the Chief of Police) is married to a magical being. I love the different points of view and hoping of more from the characters.

A bit ho hum, with simplistic shallow characters, in a make believe world -Humans and witches living out in the open together? Just not well thought out or written at all, very simplistic! A child of 9 or 10 may like it.
Described above as family friendly — I think not. While not overtly violent or explicit, murder and infidelity are not appropriate for the children. The talking cat and cookie jar fairy may be. Personally I found it a little on the silly side.

This short intro to the series has witch friends investigating the murder of an unlikable acquaintance. Magic, a talking cat and a spirit in a cookie jar add to the paranormal aspect of the cozy mystery. The story was a quick read and fast solution to the mystery.
I enjoyed this tale of a wandering husband, out of practice witches, spirits, and a murder. Everything but, the kitchen sink. The two couples reminded me of Luck & Desi with Ethel & Fred.
This was way more an adulterous who done it with very little minor witch spells thrown in. This book was clean, yet shallow. I cringed at the thought of the adultery, which was presented as a fact with no attention given to infections. This was a working Sandwich Shoppe. Yuck!
A little magic, a few evil people and some great good guys. A murder happens at a bowling ally and the chief of police is bowling the night it happens. His wife goes fishing for clews. Her cat saves the day.
A light mystery with some witches in the town of Normal and Not so Normal. A spirit in a cookie jar, a ninja cat and some normal people too found out the story.
