About the author
Susan Horsnell
239 books173 followersI was born in Manly on the Northern Beaches in Sydney, Australia and grew up in the west after we moved there to help my brother’s eczema which was made worse by salt air. I now reside in the beautiful sunny state of Queensland.
My dad had the biggest impact on my life. I have always had an overactive imagination and would often tell him stories which floated in my mind. He encouraged me to put pen to paper convinced that one day they would become published books.
Apart from marrying the love of my life, the highlight of my life was being accepted into Nursing just before my 16th birthday. It had been a long-time dream and one which encompassed 37 years of my life. Along with nursing, being married to a Naval Officer for almost 47 years, and posted in numerous places, gave me experiences which I have written into many of my books.
We enjoy traveling the country with our Caravan/RV, and Jack Russell puppy by the name of Gemma who will be joining us.
As my parents were British, never Australian citizens, I hold dual citizenship and we plan to take advantage of this to spend two years traveling the UK and Europe in the near future. It will also give me the opportunity to catch up with many family members who reside in England.
My books are in various genres - Western Historical Romance-both steamy and sweet, Contemporary Romance-steamy and sweet, Male/Male, Australian Outback and City Romance. I also have one menage and one paranormal romance along with two children's books. As I said earlier, I have a rather overactive imagination.
I hope you will pick up one of my books and when you close the cover on one of my stories it will be with a satisfied sigh.

Matt Carter was now taking over for his father and running a 150,000 acre ranch in Texas. His brothers and sister were all fortunate that their parents were there and his father could still help operate this ranch and be sort of semi-retired. They all had a wonderful life and then sadness set in when they found a young gal beaten and barely alive laying beside the road to the ranch. The book is the story of finding who did this to young Maddie while she recovered. There are Rangers involved; we have a Sheriff Tom who is falling in love; and, the ranch-hands who help where needed which included a couple women who cooked, cleaned and worked in the house. I enjoyed the story and loved how they all surrounded Maddie to help her heal plus the fact she fell in love with Matt.

Matt and Maddie
This is a sweet and tender love story written by Susan Horsnell. She has filled the pages with excitement and adventure as well as a tad bit of x-rated adventure (not a lot just one trust). She has included thieves, terrible pain inflicted to some and thrilling chase for the criminals and them being brought to justice. You will enjoy discovering how Matt and Maddie find their happily ever after.

Loved it
It’s always nice to read something abit different then the usual and that’s what this was for me. Love at first sight but with a slow build the MC is unconscious for the first part of the book and the male lead still falls in love with her. It’s romantic and beautiful cannot wait to read more in this series

Good book
I am not usually into period drama but I really enjoyed this book. A new author for me as well and I can say this book is well written and keeps you interested in the story.

I enjoyed this novel. The era in which it takes place is a simpler time, though not easy to traverse. There is violence, greed, compassion, strength, perseverance and of course love.

I read this book for the first time last year before the rewrite. It was lovely to reread and see the growth of an author and how she polished this story up.
Still a lovely western romance set it simpler times. This story centres around a family and their ranch. Eldest son Matt and some of his family are returning from town and come across a badly, beaten girl.
This was ultimately a romance, but revenge and justice created a lot of drama. Who hurt Maddie, will she even wake up?
Maybe it's not so simple living in this time when communication and medicine are so primitive.
I'm looking forward to book 2 and the continuation of the brother's story.

A very entertaining adventure. A story packed with mystery, violence, greed, loyalty and love. The Carter's are a strong family that take care of each other and the ones they love. I highly recommend you read Matt's story and continue with Will and Clay's stories. Happy Reading🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
