Five Immortal Hearts: Harem of Flames

Rate this book
Five immortal princes, each powerful beyond measures, but only one will have the rights to rule the world. A right to be bestowed upon them by a mere mortal.

Misty didn’t see them coming; they entered her world without foreword or warning, shattering her glass cage of boundaries, forcing her to open her mind to parts of a world that should not exist.

Five sets of blue eyes watched her closely.
“We need you to make a choice, between the five of us, for the coming age,” they said, and they were serious. This was serious. Failure to choose would lead to Armageddon, a scorched earth piled high with the bones of elders and infants.

All that power in the hands of a mortal. All that power in HER hands. She wasn’t sure she was ready, but then again, this is the kind of thing no one could ever truly be ready for.

Five Immortal Hearts is a standalone Reverse Harem novel, complete at 80,000 words in a world where Dragon shifters mingle with mere mortals. Demons intrude on the peace of the world and chaos reigns.

This paranormal read was unlike anything I've read before.

I cannot say I have read a book quite like this one. There was so much information in this book. It was scattered and given upon certain events or with certain characters. Sometimes I was lost and sometimes I was intrigued. This book was good however it is easy to become confused and lose interest. Misty is amazing. Her life has been so eventful that it's hard to believe she is only 30. Her five lovers are each special in their own right and definitely bring a certain element that need to be bright together. And Misty gets this without realizing it. And she doesn't realize it until the very last chapter. But with all said and done it was a good book. I was very intrigued with the back story that could've been more put together at the beginning of the book rather than being scattered throughout the book.

DNF at 20 percent

I quit the book at 20 percent. I know some authors love to drop you smack in the middle of a world and story and leave you to flounder a bit, but those authors have a knack for it and expound on the world, characters, plot, etc. This book felt like a convoluted ride that started at max speed and never allowed the reader to take a breath or understand what they were reading. Pretty much nothing made sense, nothing was explained and I didn't care even slightly enough to continue in the hope that clarity would be given.

Sounds like somebody read Curse of the Gods series and wanted to jump on that bandwagon a little too quickly.

I was really looking forward to reading this book. The cover was great and the synopsis was intriguing. The book started out decent but I quickly started to get a bit confused as to what was going on. It was enough that I thought maybe the incorrect copy may have been uploaded. I pushed through the book and some things became more clear but I still was confused. There is a lot of very specific 'historical' information that seems too far in the weeds at times. I wouldn't classify this as a romance although there was the 'relationship' that the MCs were aiming for as an end result of everything that was going on.

What an experience

Normally I like to start off my reviews with a bit about the book, then move into what I liked or disliked. This time, however, I'm not sure how to do that. I don't think i could adequately explain this book. I will say that it centers around Misty (a reporter) and 5 dragons that want her to choose one of them. There is so much going on in this book that I can't pinpoint one part to explain the book without downgrading the other parts to unimportant. Most of the time I was confused and lost and didn't know what was going on, but at the same time I embraced the confusion. I was drawn in by the story and the characters, never knowing what was going to happen next was the best part.

I've seen many reviews of books where readers said that there was too much of a "suspension of disbelief". I think that is something you have to embrace with this book. At times it's historical and then dives right into fantastical, and I loved every moment of it. Even now with the book completed I couldn't tell you what it was about the book that I enjoyed so much, I just did. I have a feeling it will receive mixed reviews, but I'm thankful I read it before there were reviews to read, I think it might have changed the book for me somehow.

All I can really say is that if you are looking for something strange and interesting to read then I suggest giving this a try. Dragons, god-like powers, paranormals, drug cartels, magical tattoos, and fantastical technology are just some of the things you'll encounter.

Thank you Savannah Rose for writing this amazing tale of Misty and her Five Dragons!

This book had me hooked with great word play and descriptive moments throughout. We were also educated on various Gods and Goddesses over time, with some amazing quotations input to the story for backing up certain moments. Five Immortal Hearts had me guessing just what would happen for Misty come the end with the decision of choosing just one Dragon or face the fall of the world for choosing none.

But I will leave you with this quote, my favourite from the book that somehow managed to sum up so much of what we all get lost in.
"Imagine for a moment that you know exactly what you want, and you know exactly how to get it. I say, imagine, because that's a rare point in space, and time, where those lines converge".

Intriguing but intense

This book left me with mixed feelings. It was intriguing but rather full on in terms of the writing style and vocabulary used, plus the way of only explaining certain things as the book went on. Very different to anything else I have ever read, it almost had more of a philosophical tone than romantic. It was certainly confusing in places but came together well at the end. That being said while they got their “happy” ending, the actual end of the book was too abrupt for my liking. I really thought it was just the end of the page, not the end of the entire book so it was a bit jarring. Overall, while I would label it as more “intriguing” than “enjoyable”, I was rather impressed with the writing and overarching storyline and will probably check out what else the author has written.

Amazing! I hope there will be more to come!

This was the best curve ball from what is notmally found in this genre. I loved this book, it was a bit of mystery, thriller, romance, action, and comedy. My only wish was that it was longer, I never wanted it to end it was so good! The writing style was very different than what I've seen in this genre before, that I felt i was on the edge of my seat with anticipation and snuggled in a fluffy blanket from the heat that was coming off the pages. Whew! From the first to the last chapter I was sucked into this book, I couldn't get enough! There definitely didn't seem to be enough hours in the day to read straight through. I can't wait to see what over curve balls Savannah Rose throws our way.

I could not put this story done.

I am not a huge paranormal story enthusiasts. The storylines ttend to go way beyond normal imagination and creativity is off the charts for me. This story was not like that all for me. This story had my attention from chapter one and I couldn't stop reading. If fact, I had received a preview of the book, because of my scepticism of PN from Ms. Rose. She asked me to give her story a chance and I am so excited that I did. After reading the preview, I knew I needed more of this wonderful story, so I purchased it.
This story is so amazing and very well written. Thank you for allow me the opportunity to read this story. I
I will recommend this book to my friends.

This book is ridiculous. It begins with the protag trying to seduce a cartel member for a story, but she does it in such a lewd and unrealistic way I closed the book. The writing was awkward, but it wasn't horrible. I think the author would do well if she used an editor or more beta readers.

Shoddy work

It's disappointing how poorly crafted this was. The premise was promising but the execution was lacking. First was a pet peeve of mine, lack of editing. There were words missing from sentences, misused homonyns and flat out incorrect words (deference instead of defense, dominate instead of dominant, etc). Next was a lack of character development. All of the information on Misty's background was throw away, like none of it mattered except so that the author could introduce something relating to the guys. None of it was used as her true development. The world building was so piecemeal that it took you out of the story e every time a new aspect was introduced. Finally, the relationships (and I use the term very loosely) between Misty and the guys are so superficial that they don't read as believable at all. All of the jarring moments where things don't make sense are glossed over and a reference to some woo-woo is used as a band aid. Honestly, if I didn't think the premise was as interesting as I did, if have given this book a single star. If the author publishes something that doesn't read like a second draft, I might read another of her books.... maybe.

Is this a good book? Yes. Is this a good ROMANCE book? No. This book is good in its own way but the author has missed the mark when it comes to reverse harem romances books. This book is filled with so much information about other things (yes interesting things) that the romance aspect gets totally lost in the shadows. Sure I like to read about obscure gods from Japan and The Aztecs and hear about Mexican neighborhoods and how the Aztecs lived And worshiped and how a drug cartel might work. But I chose this book for one reason, because it was a reverse harem romance and might be full of sex scenes. In that I was sadly left in disappointment.

This was almost great. I decided to try out her debut after reading the author's second book. The plot is great, and the men are easily distinguishable from each other. The heat level is seriously glossed over, but there was some great thought that went into the mythology. My main complaint is that there was so much more telling than showing. This is definately an author I plan on keeping an eye on, though--there is some very real talent here and I sincerely hope she keeps at it.

Best, most epic line in the whole book: "Unfortunately, experience is that thing you get ten seconds after you need it."

Unusual Story

The beginning of the book was confusing. I didn't really understand what was going on. As the story progresses, Misty meets five men who have powers beyond this world and she has to choose so that the world isn't destroyed.

As the story progresses I was finally able to see what the author was writing about. You have to stay with reading the story to enjoy it. I did enjoy the book. Misty comes across as a fulfilled woman with her life. She is a matured woman. The men are also matured. They don't come across as a**holes.

Good book for a slow day

I liked this book. I liked the world building, the characters and the dialogue were good. But I had some troubles following the story. It was straight forward enough so I could skip ahead through spots I was struggling with and not be too lost. I’d be fine for a couple chapters then I’d re-read the same two pages a few times and not really get anywhere. Maybe I’m just having a slow brain lack of coffee day, hard to say. But skipping through was a good choice and I definitely enjoyed the book overall. Just a little sluggish in spots for me.

4.5 stars.

This was one smart, educated book and I can see why some casual readers would not like it.

It was a great change to read a smart story in this genre. Too many are just superficial fluff. That's ok but like potato chips, if you read too many; they will rot your mind. Once in a while, a challenging book is good for us. I was pleasantly surprised by this one.

If you don't have some passing familiarity with ancient mythology, you might want to brush up. This book is worth your time.

Unusual

I have not read a book with this feel in a long time. It was told in a peculiar way. It was a very good read but I found myself having to take breaks often, less of a page turned more of a thinker. The philosophy and thinking behind a lot of the writing was very interesting but I found myself losing interest in regards to the Cartel aspect of the plot. I don't think it was the main storyline obviously but a nice filler to unravel the mystery of the 5 dragons.

Wow

So there aren’t all that many times when I’m left virtually speechless after reading a book. I usually have something to say even if it’s brief. This book was something so far removed from what I expected that it’s left me begging for more. But there is no more. This is a stand-alone!! I don’t know what to say...but if you appreciate RH, you need to read it. Hope that’s adequate cause it’s all I have right now.

I loved the beginning of the book. It was not standard and quite intriguing, however, later on everything went downhill. I just could not relate to the heroine. She seemed too trusting and a total know-it-all. I struggled with about 80 percent of the book because there was so much information and barely any context. This information overload did not help the plot at all and seriously hindered character development.

Unique

This was a well written and thought out story that kept me captivated. I loved the characters and the different aspects of the characters and their fates. There were twists and ups and downs but through it all the MC kept her own unique flaws and thoughts. Loved this and look forward to reading more books bySavannah Rose.

This was a new take on an old concept I loved her writing and enjoyed it a lot. I felt she made each suitor a real person and did not just gloss over their personalities.

Great concept

I really liked the take. I think having a mortal have to make a choice over which god or demigod has dominance for the next few hundred years is very unique and fun. Thank you for this.

Very orginal

This was an rh but it was also so much more. I loved Misty and I thought she handled the whole unusual situation well. She was smart about her choice in the end, not just basing it on her emotions. I'll definitely read more by this author.

um, she's already decided that she likes one of them at 8% of the book and is having sex with said one at 25%.
if there's no relationship building then how are we supposed to connect with the character?
a bonus star for plot originality.
