Total reading delight! Character engagement, settings, relationships, conflicts and resolutions.. All uniquely imagined and entertaining. Time well spent.
I continue to look forward to more Austenesque by this talented Canadian author, Samantha Adkins
IOdide and Prejudice is one of my favorite books, and has been since I was fifteen. I became interested in sequels to it about twenty years ago. This is the best sequel I have come across so far. It is well written and the characters are consistent with the originals and the story is engaging. I enjoyed the insights into Lady Catherine and Anne, and was pleased that the Wickams seem destined for well-designed misery in their marriage. I recommend the book to any fans of the original, and especially to those who have been disappointed in other sequels. Darcy and Mozzie deserve their happily ever after, and in this version they are headed that way.
A nice read I enjoyed some of this authors twist some quite original. It is not a total waste of time some books some other reviews are quite nasty which I would is not called for at all.
Clean novel. Mr Darcy has some secrets and is traveling to London, Georgiana is in love with Phillip Lawson but doesn't want to admit it. Lydia, Elizabeth's sister has a baby and drops him off with Elizabeth and Darcy and goes off with her husband. Kitty and Mr Bennett come to visit at Pemberley Hall. Elizabeth host her first ball and it is a success. Lots of surprises and some heart break but a happy ever after for all in due time.
While only Jane Austin could create such wonderfully flawed characters and amazing plot interactions and twists, Samantha Adkins has provided a wonderful continuation of the families.
Many have attempted to update the characters from Pride and Prejudice (including the screen writer who created Pride and Prejudice and Zombies). Adkins book is successful in that we see the developing love between Elizabeth and Darcy against the background of his mellowing personality - likely due to the influence of his wife.
Elizabeth's family plays a major role in the story as the reader sees each sister independently and as a part of the whole. If Austin's characters engaged your imagination, I highly recommend Adkins sequel.
This was a fun read, consistent with Jane Austen's style. I liked the light quick development of the story and that it was not filled with darkness like some modern stories. I couldn't give it 5 stars, however, as I didn't find in depth development and introduction of characters. Also this kindle edition had some grammatical mistakes and inconsistencies. Notwithstanding the errors, this was was fun easy read, perfect for a downtime where one can unwind and relax.
I did want to like this sequel as I love nothing better than a good pride and prejudice story, but this was disappointing. The plot was unbelievable and the only good aspect of reading this was that it made me laugh, but not at the intended parts written for my amusement. I have given this 2 stars for effort as I could not write even this poorly.
This is a good story marred by a great many errors, most of them of the punctuation variety. It appears the author has no concept of how to use punctuation to make a story readable.
The story begins after both Elizabeth and Jane are married. There are troubles upon troubles, not with either of the marriages but coming from outside forces.
All corrections are available on Goodreads should the author be interested.
Although the author began the story trying too hard to sound like Jane Austen, she soon fell into her own style, which made the story flow much better. I definitely enjoyed Georgiana's friendship with Julia, who was great fun to read.
Just a solo story. I couldn’t get interested in the story and all the emotions seemed pale as if all talk of emotions was frowned upon. Consequently I couldn’t come to care for the characters.
